Change default in Photoshop CS3

I changed Tahoma  to other font which is dramatically better to my eyes everyware in my system. It looks fantastic and my workability increased indeed, all apps is working great, but Photoshop fails to run :X
AppName: photoshop.exe     AppVer: 10.0.1.0     ModName: adobeowl.dll
                         ModVer: 1.0.92.0     Offset: 00069b7d
After some researching I found that Photoshop isn't happy that I changed
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
Tahoma (TrueType)=Tahoma.ttf  to Tahoma (TrueType)=MyFontname(example).ttf
Is there any way to prevent Photoshop  from using Tahoma by changing any config file or setting.
When Im replacing Tahoma to my font in registry (as I mentioned above) after Photoshop is started it works nice, so I guess
it just cheks for Tahoma, but it itsn't important for Photoshop's  working.
Maybe any ways for disabling such check, or just make it able to run somehow anyway?
Thx in advance.

Unfortunately, it isn't sufficient to just change font in desktop properties, because many Windows programs is still Tahoma (such programs is written in such stupid way that font may be only Tahoma). Thats only why I started registry tweaks.
But away I guess there can by an opportunity to change some  preferences in Photoshop to prevent crashing.

  • How can i make a photo that is 10 x 6.6 to 10 x 8 without changing the image in Photoshop CS3?

    How can I make a photo that is 10 x 6.6 to 10 x 8 without changing the image in Photoshop CS3?

I could be snarky and say change the image in a different version of Photoshop, but NO...
The only way to make a photo that is one size into another size is to change the image.  You have a few choices about how to change it:
One way is to simply expand the height from 6.6 to 8 inches using Image>Canvas Size, using the default setting of having the image centered and leaving the background either black or white, your preference.  This will add background color to the top and bottom of your image.  This won't change the image itself, but it will change its surroundings.
Another way is to resize the image using Image>Image Size, entering the new dimensions after turning off the aspect ratio lock (resample on).  This will stretch the image vertically, however, so it's probably not a good option.
Finally, you could resize the image using Image>Image Size, leaving the aspect ratio lock on and resample on, and increase the height from 6.6 to 8.  This will have the secondary effect of enlarging the width from 10" to a greater width.  Then you crop the resulting image back down to 10" width, which involves losing some edge areas of the image.

  • Photoshop CS3 - Image Processor; default Grayscale: Size Ratio prompt

I have just installed Photoshop CS3 and need to use the Image Processor to convert a batch of PCX (14,000 of them) images to JPG. When kicking this process off it does not run automatically as I get a prompt for each file asking me to input the Grayscale; Size Ratio.
Is there anyway I can disable this prompt so the Image Processor simply converts all the files in the directory specificed. If it's mandatory can I default it anywhere. Having to keep clicking Ok for 14000 files is going to be very time consuming.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Ok, so it looks like what I am after can be achieved, but I am still having problems.
In your last email one of the first instructions was "start recording an action" - how do I do this? Or is it an automatic feature?
When following the steps you provided and using the Automate > Batch option I get the errors,
"Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"
    and then....
"There were no source files that could be opened by Photoshop"
Am I doing something blatantly wrong?

  • My biggest 'pain' at the moment is that every time I go to change then save a Photoshop CS3 file it says 'cannot save as the file as it has been left open or is in use by another application'

My biggest 'pain' at the moment is that every time I go to change then save a Photoshop CS3 file it says 'cannot save as the file as it has been left open or is in use by another application'

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • Lost changes to DNG when opening in Photoshop CS3

I am losing changes that have been made to DNG files when opening these files in Photoshop CS3. I added my Canon CR2 RAW files to Lightroom, made changes to the images in Lightroom (exposure, contrast, color correction, etc) and then exported the images as DNG files. Now, when I open any of these DNG files in Photoshop CS3 or Lightroom 2.1 all of the changes are completely lost. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thank you for your replies to this problem. Yes, I did in fact upgrade to ACR 4.6 on 10/07. The problem that I have it that only a few of the thousands of images I worked on remain in Lightroom at this point. I worked on the files in Lightroom, exported them as DNG files to retain the changes and then removed them from Lightroom.
I have narrowed the problem down to a specific date of 10/21. I noticed that all of the DNG files that I am having problems with were modified on this date and will not open in ACR while retaining the changes I made in Lightroom. If I go through my backup and pull the same DNG file prior to 10/21, it opens in ACR perfectly and retains all of my Lightroom modifications.
What I want to determine here is two things. One, how to recover the Lightroom information in the DNG files that have been corrupted so the file opens in ACR as intended. Two, how to prevent this from ever happening again. I am happy to post samples of the problematic DNG files, as well as, the older backup versions that are working correctly. Any insight to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

If you Google your computer and windows 7 you will see there are a lot of issues running Windows 7 on it.
Here is the dell support webpage for your machine. There are a few updates for Windows 7 64 bit. There is also a Bios update that you may need to apply for Windows 7 too.

  • Text tool in Photoshop CS3 missing default resource files.

when I try to use the text tool in my Photoshop CS3 I always get a message that says that I am missing the default resource files for the tool.  How do I solve this..? And if possible, where can I get said files..?

Can you reinstall the application from your original media?
Keep in mind that if you do so you'll need to apply any updates to the CS3 product from Adobe's site again as well.

  • Batch change jp2 files to Photoshop (CS3)

I found a website that allows you to download old (public domain) books. Each page is saved as a jp2, which I can't open in Photoshop CS3. I found an plugin that enables me to open them, and I could have sworn it was working, but it suddently stopped working for some reason.
Anyway, I have a folder full of folders with over a thousand jp2 images. I can open them in Pixelmator and save them as Photoshop files, but that's very time consuming. So, can anyone tell me if there's a way to do a batch change - convert every jp2 image in the folder to a format that I can open in Photoshop CS3?
Also, can anyone recommend an online guide to batch changing. I'd like to learn how to batch change file sizes; for example convert all images that are 4,000 pixels wide to 500 pixels wide. I'd also like to learn how to batch change file names. I probably have to pursue each of these separately, but I just wondered if there's some sort of online central guide to batch changing.
    Thanks.

".jp2" is just the file extension for JPEG 2000, which a number of applications can open, including your Photoshop CS3, Photoshop 13 ("CS6"), Apple Preview, GraphicConverter, Safari, Firefox, etc..  Just install the JPEG2000.plugin from the Optional Plug-Ins folder in your CS3.

  • Why did the look of the toolbar change from Photoshop CS3 to CS4?

One of the nice visual features for Mac from Photoshop 7 to Photoshop CS3 was the "shiny" look of the toolbar that acquired the Aqua interface.  Now in CS4, the toolbar looks more like the Windows version (more bland).  I know that "how the program looks" does not change the way Photoshop is used, I just thought I'd ask in the forums why they would change the look of the toolbar for Mac that they've had for 7 years.

Good point.  I will be switching to Mac in the very near future, and one of the things I was looking forward to was the Aqua interface.  Its appearance is so much better than the Windows GUI.  I currently have an HP Pavilion Media Center TV PC desktop from late 2006 with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300, with only 2GB of RAM and a 320 hard drive.  The graphics card is part of the motherboard.  I am not looking to upgrade to better specs after seeing what's out now.  Today, that would be considered low specs even for a low-priced laptop.  I payed $1400 for it, and I feel I got screwed.  So many cables, an outdated keyboard and mouse, and a cheap-looking monitor made me want to jump to the Mac starting in early 2008.  Thankfully, I waited and a new iMac that's twice as good came out!  I am currently planning to buy the $1699 27-inch iMac as soon as I figure out where I'm putting it and how I'm going to reconfigure everything (I also have a tablet, and it's going in another room so I have to get a desk that has the right setup as well).
Also, I have a tablet installed on my current computer.  What will I need to do to move it to the Mac?  Will I need to uninstall it from my current computer, or just leave it alone and install it on the Mac?
    One more thing:
A guy at the Apple Store said I could run Photoshop from Windows on a Mac.  I'm assuming I would have to load the entire Windows OS, right?
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS3 Changes Image Resolution

    Hello!
Recently, Photoshop CS3 (installed on PC with Windows XP) has been changing the resolution of my images.  I'll create an image and save it (as anything... jpg or png). When I close and reopen the image, its values have changes.  For example:  a 10 x 5" images at a resoltion of 300 will somehow change to 100 x 50 at a low resolution of something like 6.  I'd like to know what causes this.

Chris, if what you claim were true, then I wouldn't have an issue.  In fact, what I described in my initial post happens.
I create a new image (we all follow the same process [Fle > New... select width, height, inches or pixels, resolution]) at a resolution of 300 for a 10x5” image.  Regardless of what I save the image as (jpg, png, etc.), if I close and reopen the image, the values have changed  The width always goes to 100" (I work in inches) and the resolution drops to 6, at the lowest that I’ve seen, up to 49.  Could a virus cause this?
