Change default option to read archive files

Hello all!!
i would like to ask you all a question and maybe someone can help me!!
We have some data archived with fi_documnt and we can read the data from different transactions without problems.
But, i would like to know if there is any possibility to change the default value when we select the data source.
For example, we want to read some data wich is archived. In fbl3n transaction, we click on "data sources" and a pop-up appears.
We select then "archive" and two more options appears.
"Archive information system" and "Select files manually".
The problem is the the option "Select files manually" is marked and default, and we would like to change it to the other option by default.
Is there any way to do that???

something else ... I have just tried in another system and here I get a popup in FBL3N which says:
Report RFITEMGL is not intended for archiving object FI_DOCUMNT
    Message no. AS_DATASOURCE006
Diagnosis
    You want to use report RFITEMGL to read data for the archiving object
    FI_DOCUMNT, but report RFITEMGL is not intended to read data for this
    archiving object.
System response
    Running this report will probably not produce the desired results.
    However, this message is merely a warning, because it could still make
    sense for you to run the report for an archiving object that is not, or
    has not yet been assigned to this report.
Procedure
    Use F4 to select an appropriate archiving object. The F4 help list only
    contains archiving objects that can be used with this report.
    You can also run report RFITEMGL with archiving object FI_DOCUMNT.
    However, running the report might produce either no data or incorrect
    data.
Procedure for System Administration
    If you are sure that running report RFITEMGL together with archiving
    object FI_DOCUMNT produces meaningful data, you can enter the combination
    in Customizing. Use transaction SM30 to enter the following data into        <--------
    table ARCH_REPOW:                                                            <--------
         FI_DOCUMNT    RFITEMGL
    This will have the following results:
    o This message will not appear again.
    o Archiving object FI_DOCUMNT appears in the input help list (F4) of the
       data source dialog.
    o Report RFITEMGL appears in the list of the Archive Administration
       (transaction SARA) read program.

Change default format in "save as" file format window

I month ago I asked the following question...
"How do I change the file format order that is listed in the "save as" file format window? Instead of having "Photoshop" listed as the default file, I'd like to have JPEG at the top, then TIFF, PSD, etc. I have to constantly scroll down the list to find JPEG."
Recently while selecting JPEG in the "save as" format window, I accidently selected "Large Document Format" while holding down either "control", "option", "apple key", or "shift", or a combination of keys. Now the default format in the format window is "Large Document Format" (ext.PSB). I've changed the default from "Photoshop" which is still listed at the top, to "Large Document Format". I'd like to change the default to "JPEG" but I cannot replicate the correct key(s) to change the default format in the window.

I did not receive a satisfactory answer to the question. Yes, you can go
into the Scripts but that is for experts and it is too much work.

I have a similar situation in that no matter what I'm working on, when I
click "Save As' then the default format option is always .tiff If I save
as jpg and then go onto my next file, the default is still tiff again when I
try to save No matter what I try, tiff is also my default selection. It's
just one of those things that takes a mere 5 seconds to click the dropdown
and select .jpg, but 5 seconds times a couple hundred files per day...it
adds up.

What I have:
* I have problem with installation of the Mac OS X Panther v10.3 on iMac.
* I have 3 original CDs (black with silver X).
What I did:
* I made new 1 partition and formated disk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) over the Disk Utility in the first CD as normal without additional options (if I tried to format disk with zero all data and 8 way random write format after 3 days computer freeze)
* I verified disk over this utility - that was ok - HFS volume verifed.
* Then I restarted the computer and ran installation from this first CD
What happened:
* installation did not finish, because there were some problems during installation process.
* i tried to customize installation just for essential work (without other languages support, printers etc), but it was still the same problem

It seems like a problem with reading some data from the CD, but during the installation checking of disk was ok.. maybe it can be problem with the cd-rom..? Or problem with data on cd-rom - I mean bad archive file..? But it is original CD.. What do you think??

Is it possible to read archive files outside of SAP?

Hi Experts,
I would like to read SAP archived data (*.ARCHIVE.ARCHIVING) with non-SAP application. I already know, that data is automatically compressed (and maybe encrypted?).
My question: Is there some possibility to read archive files outside of SAP? I suppose that would be needed to do some decompress first.

Thanks for your reply. I found some points with your hint. Some summary for others:
460620 - Migrating archive files:
"Archived data may have to be migrated. One solution is to perform an SLO service archive migration. You can also perform an archive migration for archive files using the Archive Development Kit (ADK)."
153433 - Access to archived data from other logical systems
"For data security reasons, the ADK checks whether an archive file was created in the same system and client where it is to be read. If the client, system or file key do no longer correspond to the meta data that were valid at the time of archiving, you can no longer always access the archive file, particularly for reloading. If only the system ID changes when a new installation due to a system copy is carried out, read accesses are still possible. No solution is provided in the standard system. The access to archive files from other logical systems must be taken into account and carried out in a migration project."
Unfortunately, I still do not know if it is possible to read archived data outside of SAP.

How do I make Adobe Reader NOT my default program for reading pdf files?

I installed Adobe Reader and made it my default program for reading pdf files. I'd like to undo that and go back to "preview" as my default.

Reading Archiving Files

Hi ,
This is Data Archiving in CRM System.
We have Archived some of the specified Arch Objects .(For Example CA_BUPA,PRODUCT_MD,CRM_SERORD) .
Now I have few doubt in reading files.
when i execute reading program for CA_BUPA It will retrive Business Partner details from the Archived File.
_Now I want to know the details of the Servive Ticket attached to a particular Business Partner's ._
I know Arch Object CRM_SERORD will have the service ticket details .
Is there any link between these Archiving Objects ..??
where as geting the data from other Arch Objects concerned ..??.
or
Any Configuration should i need to perform in order to get the Information from one Arch Object (For Example CA_BUPA) to other Arch Object (CRM_SERORD) ...??.
or
Should I need any ABAP's help inorder to do the same ...??

Yes this is resolved .
By default there is link between these Arch Objects
by means Zarix* tables.
when you activate (AIS) Archive infostructure in the backend a table will create prefix with ZARIX*
the following steps need to be performed .
1.customize the infostructure by creating new infostructure,
2.add field catalog for that..

Why make life hard for yourself? Just right-click any .g3pp-file, then left-click "Open with". That's all!

Right click on one of your MP3 files and select "get info". In the get info screen you can select the default program to open the file. Then select Change All.. to make it the default for all MP3s.

Change the storage server of archiving files

Hello Gurus,
I have archiving files in iseries storage, but because the disks in iseries servers is very expensive i want to change the storage server to Intel server with Win2003 or Linux S.O.
This change is posibble? i would appreciate your suggestions.

With my understanding about accessing the archive data from the storage system, i can say that it is possible.
1. First you should check with archive server vendors (such as opentext or Documentum) whether their application will support in this scenario.
2. When you are relocating the archived data from one storage to another storage system then the link between the archived data and the physical path will be disconnected.
Solution: A. create a content repository of new location and assign this content repository to all the archiving objects that are affected.
B. Delete the build Infostructure for the archiving objects and after assigning the new content repository build the infostructure again and try to access the archived data.

PDF Bookmarks - Change Default Width When Creating PDF File from InDesign

When creating a PDF file (from Indesign CS4) I automatically create the PDF bookmarks based on the InDesign document's Table of Contents.
But by default the width in the bookmarks is always set at "Fit Page".
Is there a way to change the default to "Fit Width" in Indesign before the PDF is created?
It's too much trouble to change every bookmark in the PDF after it's created.

Thanks, Steve. I have actually previously done what "fogharty" suggests and it does work if I want to set the pages to "fit width" or a variety of other options. However, none of the options is inherit zoom which is what I, and many other from the sound of the thread, need and want. We want to respect our end users--not dictate how they must view our PDFs. Hopefully, Adobe will listen and make this option available soon.

Change Default for Open New Template File In Adobe Illustrator

How can I change the default folder when trying to "Open From Template".
When I use the open from template it defaults to the template folder in the program folders.
I want to change the default folder to a different location.

Here's how to have your templates available in the "File New From Template" in Adobe Illustrator for Windows.
What you need to have
Administrator access to your machine.
What you need to know
The default directory for Adobe Illustrator templates is here (for CS5.1)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5.1\Cool Extras\en_US\Templates
The default Windows security doesn't allow shortcuts to be created directly under that directory.
You can, however, create the shortcut indirectly!
What you need to do
In Summary
Create one (or multiple) folder shortcut(s) in the default Illustrator template directory.
In Detail
Open Illustrator
Select File -> New From Template
Drop down the "Look in" drop-down, note the directory:C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5.1\Cool Extras\en_US\Templates
Open a Windows Explorer, and navigate to that directory
Open another Windows Explorer, and navigate to the directory where you keep your templates.
Right-click-drag your folder from the second Explorer (your directory) to the first Explorer (default templates) and drop.
Select "Create shortcut" from the right-click popup menu that appears when you "drop" (release the mouse button).
Windows will display a message "Shortcut cannot be created here, do you want to create it on the desktop".
Select Yes.
Move the directory shortcut to the Illustrator to the first Explorer (default templates directory)
Windows will ask for Administrator permissions.
Select Yes.
You can right-click on the template shortcut and rename it without the " - Shortcut" suffix; you'll have to grant Administrator permissions for that as well.
After completing these steps, your template shortcut will appear properly and you can select it. Happy designing!

Sorry you are unhappy with that change, but if you change it now it will become '''userset''' and it won't be changed again.
Options > Search at the top to change it.

Changing default options

Is there a way to change the default settings? It seems that the default setting for transitions is set to dissolve, and I would prefer that it be none. This affects the way that Export to Quicktime functions. Whatever I do, I cannot get a "none" transition between photos.
Any help out there?

The default export to QT slideshow is a dissolve and iPhoto has nothing to do with it. It's built into to Quicktime. You can confirm that by selecting a number of sequentially titled image files in the Finder and use the contextual menu to select Slideshow. You'll get a full screen slideshow with dissolve transitions. It's just the nature of the beast

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it.
