  • How to change default admin password on Cisco Aironet 1040

How do I change the default username and password on the Cisco Aironet 1040. There is a default set and I want to change that to secure the device. I've checked the manual and can't seem to find the directions. Any ideas?

    Hi Brian,
If this AP is already registered with a WLC then you can change it via WLC.
In WLC GUI, go to Wireless -> Select the AP -> Credential -> Override Global Credential-> Update username/pw/enable pw
In WLC CLI, you can configure it like this. If it is for all APs, then select all, otherwise AP name.
    (WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username admin password Cisco123 secret Cisco123 ?
all            Applies the configuration to every AP that does not have a specific user name.
Enter the name of the Cisco AP.
(WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username password secret
    (WLC3) >save config
Are you sure you want to save? (y/n) y
If it is Autonomous AP you can configure using the "username xxxx password xxx" IOS command

  • Cisco 2960-X & ISE accounting- username Radius attribute missing

    Hi,
I'm facing an issue with cisco 2960 switch radius accounting with Cisco ISE1.2.1 .here is my senario:
    - Username (vendor1) is configured in ISE local database, under  group (VENDOR)
    - Authentication protocol : wired  MAB
    - Authentication method : webauth  using guest portal  , the user is a  vendor  , so no dot1x configured on his NIC .
the problem is that , the switch is not sending the username as a part of radius attribute , in the authentication log , the username shown as the MAC address of the user machine , therefor , I can not configure my authorization condition using  internaluser:Name  Equal  vendor1
while if  I configure the condition using the identity group condition  IdentityGroup:Name  Equal  VENDOR  , it works .
The same configuration is working on 3750 switch  with no issue .
    Here is my Switch config:
    aaa authentication login default local
aaa authentication dot1x default group radius
aaa authorization network default group radius
aaa authorization auth-proxy default group radius
aaa accounting auth-proxy default start-stop group radius

    radius-server attribute 31 send nas-port-detail
    radius-server dead-criteria time 5 tries 3
    radius-server vsa send accounting
    radius-server vsa send authentication
    any help  !!!

Thanks for your reply , I know what's MAB , if you read my explanation again , i mentioned that the user is authenticated in the guest portal which mean that I have web authentication , and it is working fine .. The only issue is that I can not use the vendor1 username as part of authorization condition and this is because the switch is not sending the radius attribute type 1 to the ISE , thus , on the ise authentication log the MAC address  of the client machine is shown as a username not the actual username ( vendor1)
as I mentioned also , I have exactly the same setup with ise 1.2 and 3750 switch and I do not have this issue .I experience this with 2960x only .

I recently changed my username n password. Now that I'm trying to update my apps, it still default at my old username. How can I change it to new username?

Sorry, you can't. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be updated using any other Apple ID, nor can they be transferred to another Apple ID. You will have to update them using the ID used to originally obtain them.

  • Changing Default Native VLAN

    Hi,
We are using CISCO 3750-G Switch as Core Switch. VLAN1 is being our Native VLAN since the implementation.
This switch is connected with 10 numbers of CISCO 2960 Switches by trunking ports. IP addresses assigned for L2 Switches from VLAN1 only.
Now I want to change the Default Native VLAN from 1 to some other.
My query is is there any pre-requesties to change Native VLAN or Can I change to Native VLAN ID simply?
    Looking forward support.
    Regards,
    Ramesh Balachandran

    HI Ramesh,
Native VLAN will come into picture if you use trunks in your switches. Procedure to change the native VLAN.

        switchport trunk native vlan
CAUTION: If you are chaning the native VLAN only one end the spanning-tree for the orginal native vlan and the changed native vlan will go into inconsistency state and will be blocked.
In the below example on the local end(Native VLAN chosen is 2 and the remote end is 1)

  • Slow download performance with windows 7 on Cisco 2960S

has someone experience with the the windows 7 on Cisco 2960S.
One customer had the issue with very slow download rate ( 500kByte) with 100MB / full duplex and  default tcp paramenter under win 7 with IOS 12.2.55SE1.
    No error was seen.
The change of follwing in windows improve the performance a litte bit to 1-2 MByte.
no compression, no tcp windowing, no received side scaling, no windows side heuristic, no checksum offloading and a smaller MTU size than default.
After update the Switch to 12.2.55.SE2 the performance imporve to 4-12 MByte.
Has someone an idea about the chances in IOS 12.2.55SE2. I cant find anything in RN about this issue.
    Best regards
    Steffen

I have the same issues in WS-C2960G-48TC-L  . my downloads dropped in my lan from 2 mb/s to 100kb/s in all operating systems including linux workstations . my ios version is 12.2(44)SE5 in 2960 switches .
i have 2 x 4503-E L3 and 14 2960-48TC-L switches but i can not access the new ios versions to test if the issue is coming from ios version because of end of support .
can someone ensure that the new ios remove this issue ?

  • When asking for username and password the default username is wrong

I have had a look through all the posts here but I can't find anything that helps me. I don't want to actually change my username or reset my password. I know what they both are; however...
I have a recently had to replace my hard drive and now have a fresh install of Snow Leopard. When installing programs the typical enter username and password box pops up but the default username which is populated there is wrong. I have to change it every time before I enter my password. I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden.
For example my username is xxxxyyyy but it comes up as Xxxx Yyyy (note the space). If I enter my password without changing it it gives me an error. If I enter it correctly everything works fine.
This is more of an annoyance than anything. Where/how do I change the default username that is entered into that box.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I was able to change the default account login on my mac --
Go to System Preferences => System => Accounts & click on the lock to make changes.
Highlight the account you want to change & click on the Password tab on the right.
In the box that says Full Name type in your name the way you want it and hit enter.
    Reboot you mac.
Your changed name should now be listed as default.

  • BPM Default username and password

    Hi Experts,
Will anyone please help to find the bpm composer default username and password to log into bpm composer. i installed bpm  and trying to login with weblogic/welcome1. response is invalid ID and password. please help me out.
    Thanks
    SN

Usually you have to set the standard weblogic username and password at install time.  Common "default" combinations are weblogic/weblogic1, weblogic/welcome123, weblogic/welcome1, weblogic/oracle, weblogic/oracle123.  But there really is no "default" as it is dependent on whatever you have indicated during the install.  Many prebuilt VMs from Oracle will use one of the combinations that I mentioned though.
But if none of those work, you can change the weblogic password in WLS console --> Security Realms --> myrealm --> Users and Groups as already mentioned by the previous reply.

  • Login Hook stops working once I've changed the username

Hello. I need to change the usernames for a number of local accounts on a 10.5.8 mac. The accounts were set up by someone else who is no longer working at this education insitution and hasn't left any documentation. Currently when each user logs on, a script runs that does the following
    #!/usr/bin/env bash
    # iMac logon script
    # get our user
    theUser=$1
    # get the users home directory
    #theUsersHome=$HOME
    # Copy the dock plist file for the user
    cp /Library/Scripts/GHS/Docks/${theUser}/com.apple.dock.plist /Users/${theUser}/Library/Preferences
    # Create a ScreenCaptures folder on the desktop, give it permissions and redirect the screen captures
    # Unlock the Desktop folder first in case it is locked
    sudo chflags nouchg /Users/${theUser}/Desktop
    mkdir /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/ScreenCaptures
    sudo chown ${theUser}:staff /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/ScreenCaptures
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/ScreenCaptures
    # Create a VideoWork folder on the Desktop and give it permissions
    # Unlock the Desktop folder first in case it is locked
    sudo chflags nouchg /Users/${theUser}/Desktop
    # Remove the old Video Work folder in case it exists
    rmdir /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/Video\ Work
    mkdir /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/VideoWork
    sudo chown ${theUser}:staff /Users/${theUser}/Desktop/VideoWork
    # Lock the Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music and Pictures folders
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/${theUser}/Desktop
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/${theUser}/Documents
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/${theUser}/Movies
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/${theUser}/Music
    sudo chflags uchg /Users/${theUser}/Pictures
However, once I change the users account name, the script doesn't seem to run correctly as the screen captures fail due to not having write permission in the intended destination.
I rename the UserName the ShortName, the HomeDirectory and the folder here /Library/Scripts/GHS/Docks/UserName
The idea is, once I've updated this one mac with all the new accounts, I will then duplicate the image across all the others that we have
I'm very new to this and I'm not sure how much of this works
Thank you very much for any help and I apologise if I've missed out any essential information.

  • Aironet 1100 Default Username and Password not working

I have a Cisco Aironet 1100 series access point (AP1120B) that after resetting to factory defaults the default username and password (Cisco and Cisco) aren't working in the web GUI.  I am able to telnet to the AP's IP and log in with Cisco and Cisco but don't know the ENABLE password. I have tried Cisco and cisco and everything else i could think of with no luck.  any help would be appreciated.
I also have a Cisco Aironet AP1242AG that is doing the same thing.

    Hi Rich,
I assume that you are using the mode button to reset the configurations on these units -- this procedure *should* reset all credentials to Cisco.
If this is still not working, you can try the following:
    1) Connect console port and power-cycle unit
    2) When IOS starts loading, hit ESC key twice to get to the boot-loader prompt
    3) At the boot-loader prompt show a directory of the flash filesystem (dir  flash:)
    4) Delete or rename the files "config.txt" and "env_vars", then boot  the  system ("delete flash:/config.txt" "delete flash:/env_vars")

    Hi,
This should be asking you only the password not the username as you have confired with wpa-psk. What client device are you testing this with? If this is wondows machine please choose your sececurity as WPA-Personal on the wireless profile and then it would asked for the Security Key..You will have to enter your password there. The password from the configuration i can see it as cisco.
