Change document icons during Document Refresh

I'm working with a custom crawler, and one of the things I do is give the document a special (a.k.a "non-default") icon based on one of the property values. During the document refresh, if this property value has changed I would like the icon to change accordingly. It's not working this way right now, though. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I could make this happen? In the 4.5 world I just ran a script against the database and changed it that way, but I would like to find a more elegant solution. Thanks!

1. SPD cannot do what you want OOTB.
2. You need to code.
3. You can code inside the workflow to set the permissions you want at the end of the approval process or you can code it as an eventhandler outside the workflow process. Assuming that you are using SPD, that means creating a 'custom activity' to be called by your SPD workflow.
4. You can find code for setting 'item level permissions' and the way to create 'custom activity' on the net.

  • Changing OPS$ passwd during system refresh

    Hi All,
i have to do system Refresh/system copy ,i m using oracle 10g database.
while studying the docs and sap notes,i found that after database is backed from source system and restored in target system
.It is also required to change some passwords for OPS$ or SAP<Schema> user in table "sapuser" at OS level.
I am totally unaware of any such activity.can someone help me in this regard,as what are the post steps after DB is restored in target system and to how to perform them.
    We are using brtools here.
Also what is the command line for restroring DB while system copy.
    Regards,
    Vishesh S

    *Hi,*
    *1.*
*can someone help me in this regard,as what are the post steps after DB is restored in target system and to how to perform them.*
After doing DB restore, one has to
    a. Apply the Control files of source system database
    b. Perform DB recovery by applying available offline redo log files (based on Complete DB recovery or Point-in-time DB recovery).
    c. Then after successful DB recovery, one has to OPEN the database with RESETLOGS options.
    d. Upon successful Database instance startup, Start Target SAP system
    *2.*
*what is the command line for restroring DB while system copy.*
    brrestore -b logfilename -m full
    e.g. brrestore -b bcnmhluz.aft -m full
    *3.*
    a) Logon using the OPS$ user ("connect /@<sid>") to determine the
sapr3 password that is stored in the database table SAPUSER.
Now i have no idea, that how to check the password,as i logged in using "connect /",it just got connected.
But how will i know that what password has been set.
In OPS$ connection mechanism, only the existence of ops$<sid>adm user requires. Under <sid>adm OS user if you execute "connect /" in SQLPLUS, then it will get connected with Database through ops$<sid>adm database user, without asking for password.
During OPS$ connection mechanism, the SAP work processes get connected to Database using this OPS$ user. Then as a next step,  the password of Schema user (SAPSR3 or SAP<SID>) is read from the SAPUSER table from database, and then with that password od schema owner , the R/3 work processes actually get connected with Database Instance schema. So the SAPSR3 password should be same at Oracle DDIC and SAPUSER table levels.
If you do not know the password of SAPSR3 or SAP<SID> database users, you can change them with br*tools or by the execution of the following brconnect command.
    brconnect -f chpass -o [sapr3 | sap<sid> | sap<xyz> | sapsr3] -p <new_password>
(Refer SAP Notes 562863, 361641 as reference)
    *4.*
*after doing a system copy/refresh, what changes i have to perform in OPS$ user.*
If your getting with OPS$ user issue while SAP startup or R3trans -d execution, then you can refer SAP note 40024 or do the following .
    a.
Check weather the correct OPS$<SID>ADM user exists at DB level or not ?
    SELECT * FROM DBA_USERS;
    b. If the required OPS$ user does not exist in Target DB....
    CREATE USER "OPS$<SID>ADM" DEFAULT TABLESPACE <user_tsp>  TEMPORARY TABLESPACE PSAPTEMP IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    c. Grant roles/previleges to OPS$ user
    grant sapdba to ops$<SID>ADM;
    d. check the existence of SAPUSER table and the owner of SAPUSER table in target DB
    SELECT OWNER FROM DBA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'SAPUSER';
    e. If the owner of SAPUSER table is not OPS$<SID>ADM, then u need to drop it and recreate it in Database.
    -- DROP TABLE "<owner>".SAPUSER;
    -- CREATE TABLE "OPS$<SID>ADM".SAPUSER  (USERID VARCHAR2(256), PASSWD VARCHAR2(256));
    --INSERT INTO "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER VALUES ('<sapowner>', '<password>');
    f.
Execute R3trans -d under <sid>adm OS level user and verify its return code. Also check trans.log file
    5.
what is the middle step between db recovery and starting the system.
    middle steps can be
    a.  to OPEN Database with RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option and restart the DB instance.
    b. create OPS$ Database user according to new SID and new <SID>ADM OS user
I hope the above information will be helpful to provide you possible understanding.

  • Why do document icons change

During login, document icons display as the familiar icon we've become accustomed to, but when login completes, the icons change to a rather drab, generic-looking thing. For example Word documents, which used to show as the familiar blue Word document icon, are now plain white with 'DOC' at the bottom. How can I get the original icons to display?
    Thanks.

    Hi Mike:
I might be telling you to chase rainbows.
I am running OS X 10.6, so there may be a disconnect.
However, when I open my document folder, the folders are blue, but individual documents are a white icon with something like doc at the bottom. I consider this "normal," but we may be talking about different things...

  • When I create a New Folder (on the desktop or in Finder), the system uses the Generic Document Icon instead of the Generic Folder Icon. How can I change this back?

When I create a New Folder (on the desktop or in Finder), the system uses the Generic Document Icon instead of the Generic Folder Icon. How can I change this back?
All of a sudden I noticed that most of the folders on my computer were no longer using the folder icon, but the generic document icon. I had to manually change back the icon being used by opening Get Info for each folder and copying and pasting the generic folder icon from some folders that remained unchanged. Now whenever I create a New Folder (right click -> "New Folder"), the icon that shows up is the generic document icon (white page with top right corner turned down). And I have to manually change it so it shows up as a folder in Finder or on my desktop. I don't know why or how this switch happened. All of the folders now on my computer look ok, but I need to change the default so when I create a New Folder it uses the correct icon.
I have also Forced Relaunch of my Finder and rebooted the system. I downloaded Candybar but am not sure what will fix anything, so I haven't proceeded.
Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks.

    Anyone?

  • Icon changing from Application to document!

Well i've never done anything like this before... but I guess I'm still a little new to Macs in general.
Anyway, the other night I was changing some things around on the Dock... and I accidentally dragged my MS Word Icon into the Application next to it on the dock (which just happened to be Snes9x the Super Nintendo emulator... which I wouldn't reccomend to anyone by the way).
Once dragged in the emulator opened and of course went haywire so I immediately exited and shrugged it off.
However, today when i went to open MS word from the dock (and later even from inside my App. folder) it again opened in Snes9x. I clicked on Get Info for MS Word from inside the App. Folder and it is now a document! AHH!
The only way I can get Word to work now is by opening an already saved Word Document. But I can no longer just start word up normally.
Please, if you can, tell me how to restore my Word App. back to how it should normally behave.
    Thank you,
    ThomJohn
    Extra Info:
I have already deleted Snes9x in hopes that that might fix the problem... but alas, no success.
The icon for Word is now just a blank white document. (it was the Snes9x document icon before i deleted Snez9x)
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Go to your Word application file and do GetInfo on it. In General it should say Kind: Application. If it doesn't move down to the Name&Extension section, and add the .app extension, so it says Microsoft Word.app. Or you could rebuild the LaunchServices database and caches, but I think adding the extension is easier.

  • Question concerning document icons changing

after I loaded 10.5.6 the majority of my document icons on my desktop do not show what type of document they are. If I create a folder on my desktop and place the document into the new folder the icons show the kind of file that it is i.e. adobe icons, word icons etc.
Otherwise the icon is an actual tiny preview of the document contents. I should know how to adjust this but I have looked all over and cannot find the setting

    Hi,
I hope I'm understanding you correctly. From your desktop go to the menu bar / view / show view options. you will find settings for icon size and also" show icon preview" check this and all should be back to normal.

  • Photoshop 7's icon has changed to a document icon

After installing Tiger on my iBook (and using Software Update to upgrade to the latest version), I am no long able to open Photoshop. The applications icon has been replaced with another application's document icon!
Specifically, Photoshop's application icon has been replaced by a MacHacha document icon, and "Get Info" claims that it is a MacHacha file. The version line still identifies it as Version 7.0.1, it is a 53 MB file, and I know it is Adobe Photoshop. It is a legal copy, and I am the owner. It just seems like Tiger has replaced the icon. And of course, it's not recognized as an application, so I can't run Photoshop, and I desperately need to!
I've run Disk Utility on my drive, both from the drive itself and after starting up from my OSX Installation dvd. I've repaired all permissions.I've used Onyx to run all the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts that OSX uses. I've also deleted all the log files and caches. I tried deleting the whole Adobe Photoshop 7 folder with the application and other files inside, emptying the trash, and reinstalling. The application icons were screwed up again. I did what this posting on the Adobe Forums suggested:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?50@@.3bbbf896
repairing permissions and running the CRON scripts before and after installing Photoshop. It came up with bad icons again.
This problem only occurs with Photoshop. All of my other programs run just fine and have no problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Ted

I just had the same problem starting yesterday, even though I don't recall upgrading anything recently. Did you ever resolve this? For what it's worth, I have noticed that Photoshop still opens if you open a photoshop file, just not if you try to open the program from its own icon or from the dock. I'm kinda stumped.

  • FI Document created during WBS settlement

    Hi Everyone,
I have an issue regarding the FI document generated while running CJ88 for WBS settlement. We settle a WBS to a Cost Center, after it, three documents are created, an FI document, a CO document and a Profit center Document.
Logic tells me there shouldnt be an FI document  in this situation since im settleing between two cost objects. For example when we settle internal orders no FI document is generated.
I've checked many threads in SCN about said FI document and i cant find a definitive reason as for why is this document is generated during the settlemet, many threads about it are not answered and some others are not very conclusive.
Nevertheless! I can live with the FI document but i'd like to change it from the standard "SA" document to "ZA" for analysis purposes. We created de document type and i've changed the settlement profile to use ZA but still after we settle a WBS an SA document is created.
Can anyone shine any light on this issue? either pointing me in the right direction to modify the document type or by explaining why is it generated?
Thank you in advance for your time.
    Pelayo.

    Hello Chauhan,
My settlement profile is enabeled for Cost Center, Order and Fixed Assets all as optional, however the settlement rule in this specific scenario is from WBS to Ctr. (both elements have a Profit ctr. assigned.
Under Other parameters i've set Document type as "ZL".
The system creates an FI document like this.

  • Document icons showing for aliases, folders with .

After rebuilding launch services database to resolve other issues, I'm now seeing a display glitch as follows:
aliases folders, symlinks to folders, and any folder that has a name ending with a period are showing as a generic 180x180 plist document with an alias arrow in the corner:
As you can see the problem is intermittent. Most have this problem, but some don't.  Issue is the same in the Finder or Path Finder.
The keen among you will notice the folder color.  I replaced system icons in the CoreTypes bundle with those from Mavericks (because I hated the Yosemite blue color).  This could have something to do with the issue but can't really see how, as the problem didn't exist after changing the the system folder icons across many reboots; only after rebuilding launch services database.
The get info from Path Finder shows everything the same:
    Kind: alias
    UTI: com.apple.alias-file
    alias bit: on
    custom icon: false
    type: fdrp
    creator: MACS
    permissions: 644
    owner: (me); group: staff
    open with (oddly): ViewIt
The size is weird. On the incorrect one, it's 300kb, on the correct one it's 1.8MB. Though maybe those are the right sizes considering they are each folders that contain other folders.
For the folders that end in a period:
    kind: folder
    UTI: public.folder
alias bit: off, custom icon: false
permissions: 755, owner (me); group (staff)
    open with (oddly): Path Finder
A similar sort of problem is posted here, but it doesn't seem to help.  I could try trashing ViewIt, but not PathFinder:
Re: Icons for Aliases not Showing up...
    Any ideas?

Seems this was a problem with PlistEdit Pro. (as I should have guessed from the document icon.)  Trashing that app and rebuilding icon cache and rebooting worked.

  • Unable to change any file or document name in Finder

Can someone help me with following problem.
Using Finder I am not able to change any folder or document name.
Thus creating a "new folder" I even can not change that name!
    Thank you,

Move com.apple.finder.plist file from /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ to the Desktop, OPTION-click and hold the Finder's Dock icon, and select Relaunch. Note that this requires resetting Finder preferences. See if this fixes the issue.

  • Generic document icons for applications in Simple Finder

I have an account setup with Parental Controls and using the Simple Finder. In the My Applications folder of the simple finder, all of the apps show up with the default blank document icon instead of the correct application icon. How do I fix this?

    Hi Warren -
I imagine you already tried this, but just to be sure, did you change the default .tiff app in Finder? Does that change the icon? If so, what happens when you then change the default back to your app?
If the above doesn't help, what happens when you change the Bundle Name and Executable File name of your app, then set the default .tiff app to the "new" app? Not saying this is practical if you've already distributed your app, but it might help to know the result.
Here's some misc info that may give you more ideas: [http://ask.metafilter.com/67832/Changing-filetypes-icons-in-OS-X].
Btw, we have at least two or three experts around here who will probably know exactly what to do. I'm only filling in until one of them shows up. So if none of the above is useful, stay tuned.

  • Getting Document Icons to appear in the Finder

I wanted to change the icons that would appear on the .tiff files that my Cocoa multiple document application creates. I did the following: I deleted the reference to the old .icns file from my XCode project. I trashed the old.icns file and emptied the trash. I created a new .icns file using two tiffs: one for the icons and one for the masks using Icon Composer. I put the new .icns file in the project directory. I added it to the project in the resources folder. When I click on it the project shows it in the editor correctly. I edited the project target properties so the UTI is public.tiff, the Icon File is the correct name of the .icns file including the .icns extension. I checked the package box to make sure the .icns file is included in the project bundle. I clicked on the .icns file in the project and hit command I to look at the file info for the .icns file. Under the Targets tab the Target Membership is shown as checked as a member of the application. I cleaned the targets. I moved the applications from the Build and Debug folders to the trash and emptied the trash. I restarted the computer. I logged out and back on. I restarted the finder. I rebuilt the project debug target. When I run my application and save my document as a tiff on the desk top it has the generic icon but if I get info for the file it still has the now extremely non-existent old icon as its preview. If I move the file into a folder it has the old icon. It looks to me like the finder is the culprit here. It seems to be retaining the old icon somewhere.
Any more things I can try?

  • My Numbers document icons have turned black. Help?

The document icons for my Numbers documents have turned a horizontal-streaked black color. (Kind of like the output from a very defective copy machine.) I have tried resaving the documents both without and with changes, but the icons don't change. Quick Look and Cover Flow work OK, but in the icon view the icons are ugly black. How can I restore the icons to showing the tiny previews of the documents?

    Hello
ctrl + click on the icon of such a file.
In the contextual menu, select "Show Bundle's contents"
You will open the package and see
two subfolders: one named "Contents" and one named "QuickLook"
    Double click this late one.
You will see a jpeg icon entitled "Thumbnail.jpg"
    Double click on it.
If it displays sadly it's that the Thumbnail.jpg file is corrupted. Trash it.
If it displays correctly you are encountering a problem with the system, not with the document.
And alas, in this case, I have no idea.
Trashing the Launch Services databases would be meaningless as you are not trying to display the standard icons but the thumbnail one.

  • Document icons not visible in sharepoint 2010

    Hi
I am working on sharepoint 2010. I have a site in which document icons are missing. Example: When going into View All Items -> Pages , the pages should be having "IE" icon to be displayed. Similarly for word , css files . All the icons
are showing as "X". I have checked the DOCICON.XML file to be correct (compared to file present in other server).
When trying to access the image directly eg: http:localhost:99/_layouts/images/ichtm.gif , i am able to access the image without issue.
When looking at the properties of the image, i could get the url as http:localhost:99/_layouts/images.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance
    Usha

Please confirm if you see URL as http:localhost:99/_layouts/images. or http//:localhost:99/_layouts/images.
Is it same behavior on all sites or just 1 site
What do we see in Fiddler traces
Did you made any changes in DOCICON.XML
