Change Domain / Hostname

Hi,
We have 4 node instance with Load Balancer,
Db- 1 Node
CM- 1 Node
FW -1 Node
FW - 1 Node
Both the Web / Form node are connected by Load Balancer.
We required to change the domain name on DB, CM & Domain and host name on both the Web / Form nodes.
Pls advise to do the successful change for the above scenario?.
What is the implecation if I use clone (reclone on the same node).

Hi,
Pls advise to do the successful change for the above scenario?. Follow the steps in these documents (it is applicable for 11i and R12).
Note: 338003.1 - How to change the hostname and/or port of the Database Tier using AutoConfig
Note: 341322.1 - How to change the hostname of an Applications Tier using AutoConfig
What is the implecation if I use clone (reclone on the same node).This should also work.
Thanks,
Hussein

  • Change domain, hostname and IP after installation

    Hi,
    I installed BO XI 3.1 SP3 on a Windows Server 2008. Now it's maybe necessary to change the domain, hostname and IP adress of the server. I guess this will affect the BusinessObjects installation as well.
    Is it enough to enter the new hostname in CCM? Do I need to make changes somewhere else?
    Thanks!

    Hi
      As per my understanding, you don't need to do anything, Should work fine by default, but following points should be considered.
    1. For web application's Tomcat URL should use new Hostname,
      i,e http://<OLDHOSTNAME>:<PORT>/InfoViewApp  to http://<NEWHOSTNAME>:<PORT>/InfoViewApp
    2. The System Name while logging should be <OLDHOSTNAME>:<CMS PORT>, even after chaning Servers Hostname.
    3. From BOE Server machine, Make sure that After changing to new domain & hostname, you are able to access your DB machine which hosts your CMS DB.

  • How to change the hostname was set/defined in SAP system?

    Dear Expert,
    My customer met a problem about that:
    he defined his host name with small characters(lower case) "abc" when he installed the SAP system (Windows2003(x64)-Solman70SR4).
    But in SM21, the title of sm21, the hostname was recognize as upper case "ABC".
    in SM51, the hostname was also recognized as upper case "ABC"
    in STMS, the tab of 'transport tool', it is recognized as lower case "abc" in TRANSDIR.
    in SM59, it is recognized as upper case "ABC" in internal connections, but recognized as lower case "abc" in ABAP connections, such as TMSADM@<DB>.DOMAIN.<sid>
    While in Java URL, it is recognized as lower case "abc". With my test, the Java URL is not case sensitive for the HOSTNAME part in HTTP link as I tested to change the hostname both in upper case and lower case in etc\hostname file, the URL both are working. (not sure if this is due to the test is with intranet or not).
    Based on SAP note 611361, it seems that:
    "Hostnames must be considered "case sensitive". That means
    hostnames shall be used in the same case (upper or lower) in all
    SAP configurations as well as in the network configuration (DNS
    or etc/hosts). You must ensure consistent name resolving of the
    hostname from hostname to IP address and back from the IP address
    to the the same hostname (case sensitive match). See also note
    129997."
    Please help to suggest.
    Many thanks in advance,

    Section  4.13 "Checking the Consistency of the Host Name" in [This Upgrade Guide|https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000353422008E]  has a good explaination of what & how to check your hostname / parameter configuration.
    on a windows box, another way to get the TCP/IP name is to type  'hostname' from a CMD window.

    Hi Shomit
    As far as I know, the Domains Hostname is stored only in config.xml file. So IP Address is same just Host name is changed CALTP8BB13 to CALTP8BB16. Check for some basic things.
    1. If on Windows OS, try adding this new Hostname and its IP address in hosts file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. If on Unix Env, I guess there should be a similar file to set the hostnames mapped with IP addresses.
    2. Since the machine is moved to a brand new location and incase kind of different network, check the firewall settings to see if firewall is blocking this new hostname.
    3. To make sure the domain is still good, I guess you already tested with old hostname after moving to new building. Try testing by giving the direct IP address also. This is just confirmation test to make sure domain is not messed up. If both of these works, it simply means issue is with Hostname and IP not getting mapped or new hostname getting blocked over the network. May be network folks can pitch in.
    Hostname or IP addresses should not be in any startup or env scripts. Domainname, servername will be definetly there in lot of files but not the hostname or ip address as far as I know.
    Thanks

  • Rename (Change of Hostname) of Cisco ISE Appliances !!!

    Hi,
    I am having the two Cisco ISE (Version: 1.1.1.268) appliances. These appliances are running in Failover with the internal CA signed certificates.
    The hostnames are 19 character long with Upper cases and Hypen. Boxes are joined to the domain but freqently used to disconnect after sometime. After some investigation, we came to know that AD can accept only the 15 characters long hostname... thats the reason, one of the appliance keeps disconnected. Also, sometimes, the authentications donesn't works properly.
    My question is that how to change the Cisco ISE Appliance hostnames without impacting the production and hassle?
    Send me the steps in detail, or it is just a matter to change the hostname and register with DNS with new names and regenerated the certificates...???
    Need expert opinion....
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Mubasher

    Hello Mubasher-
    I recently had to do this and I want to warn you to be careful. I had to rename 4 hosts and out of 4 of them only 1 remained useable. The other hosts had to be re-built For some reason ISE nodes get very unhappy when trying to change certain things (Hostnames, timezone, etc) Also, keep in mind that even if the renaming goes well you will still impact the environment as the nodes will restart.
    Here is what I did when I made the change:
    1. Disjoin the ISE nodes from the domain
    2. Ensure that their computer name is removed from AD
    3. Update DNS records
    4. Ensure that DNS records have replicated
    5. Change names on ISE
    6. Join nodes to the domain
    Hope this helps

  • Modeler problem after changing domain name

    Hello GURUS,
    I had my BI7 on RHEL5 and MaxDB configured and working with hostname xxxbwd.yyy.pl. Today I had to change domain/host name to xxxbwd.zzzz.yyy.pl. I've changed it in /etc/hosts, changed profile parameter icm/host_name_full to new value and almost everything works.

  • How do I change the hostname used when Mac Mail sends EHLO

    Hi All,
    I work for a tech support group and one of our clients is experiencing some trouble sending emails. When they connect to their outbound mail server Mac Mail sends the EHLO command with a hostname like 01:23:45:67:89:ab.home
    Another Mac on the network sends a hostname like 00:A0:C9:14:C8:29.home2
    So they appear to be the a Mac address for the computers NIC followed by a generic location in this case .home, not sure if thats a generic Mac thing or something they chose to configure but because the hostname is not an ip address and contains ".(dot)home" the outbound mail server our client uses believes it to be a domain so then rejects it as an invalid domain when a lookup on it fails.
    I've changed the hostname of one of the Macs using the command "cutil –-set HostName new_hostname"
    This has changed the hostname when checking it by the hostname command in a Terminal but Mac Mail still persists in using the old hostname. We've tried rebooting the machine and rebooting the machine with the left shift key held down as I believe this does some kind of rebuild of configuration files, but still the old hostname is send when Mac Mail sends EHLO.
    How can I force Mac Mail to pick up the new hostname or is there something else I need to do to change it?
    thanks for any assistance you can provide,
    Martin

    Replying to myself:
    You can sign out from the account in iBooks and then sign in to another one.
    From the menu bar, choose:  Store->Sign Out
    Then sign in again with the desired ID: Store->Sign In

  • Is it possible to change domain name

    OS: SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8
    Oracle Version: 10.1.0.2.0
    I have Oracle Database installed on SLES 8.
    Is it possible to change domain name after database is running?
    (Not in live production yet)
    If yes where I need to make changes?
    Regards,
    D

    for the database, the dns domain is of no interrest. the parameter db_domain could be change dynamically, but it does not have to match the dns domain. In your sqlnet.ora, you can also define NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN and the domain name in tnsnames.ora. But it does not have to match the dns domain.

    only two files i need to change on Oracle's side are tnsnames.ora and listener.ora?Yes.
    Also, will I need to restart the database in such case?No, just reload the listenera or restart the listener.

  • If changing the hostname of the Audit Vault Server version 12.1.2 please wait until the system reboots automatically.

    Hi everyone
    when changing the hostname of an AV Server in the newly released version 12.1.2, it can take up to 10 minutes from the time a user click ok on the pop-up message "Are you sure you want to reboot the Audit Vault Server for the changes to take affect" to the system actually shutting down for the reboot. The machine must not be manually rebooted as this will cause errors.
    Some background information was provided by one of Oracle's developers for this product:
    AVDF 12.1.2.0.0 uses Oracle Grid in Restart Configuration. This is needed to leverage the ASM infrastructure to create diskgroups etc. So, when a hostname of a system is changed, the entire Grid stack needs to be re-configured to work under the new hostname. This re-configuration is needed because Grid creates a lot of directories with the hostname in them and when the hostname is changed, it tries to look for critical configuration files under this new "hostname" and of course, they would not be present. Hence, when we change the hostname, an entire re-configuration of the Clusterware is attempted, at which point a new set of directories with the new hostname will be created by the Grid software.
    This reconfiguration operation may take a few minutes to several minutes depending on the hardware/resource specs. This is because re-configuration of the Clusterware stack is a heavy-weight operation and takes time (It needs to shutdown all the CRS services and re-configure them and bring them back up). Hence, the long duration it takes before re-boot. You *MUST NOT* reboot it manually before the system automatically reboots -- otherwise the re-configuration operation will only be half-done. The chances of this re-configuration operation failing is very, very minimal (based on our tests). So, given enough time it _WILL_ complete eventually and the system _WILL_ automatically reboot. You just need to wait for it to happen.
    Hope this will avoid any issues,
    greetings,
    Harm ten Napel

    I may add it was my personal impatience that lead to this discovery: I was re-imaging my virtualbox install with the new 12.1.2 version (for testing purposes) and I want my AV server to be called 'auditvault', when it appeared nothing was happening (but there was) I rebooted the system manually with said results...

  • Changing domain name

    Hello All,
    We have oracle Database installed on RED HAT AS 3.1.
    Database version is 9.2.0.5.0.
    We also have two web servers connected to above database server.
    Just before live production, Management asks me to change domain name.
    1) My question is “Does changing domain name effect any thing from Oracle DB perspective"?
    2) Do I need to configure any thing from Oracle database?

    I cant seem to get rid of my old domain name in iweb every time i try to visit my new site it always takes me to my old domain and also at the bottom of the iweb page it still lists my old domain in parentheses. I have tried over and over to change domain in my account page at .mac but it will not change the name. I dont understand

    every time i try to visit my new site it always takes me to my old domain and also at the bottom of the iweb page it still lists my old domain in parentheses.
    What is at the bottom of the page doesn't matter, iWeb is still publishing to .Mac and your url is always still http://web.mac.com/username. Also best to avoid the Visit button and just make a bookmark for your url.
    I have tried over and over to change domain in my account page at .mac but it will not change the name.
    Is the old name still there? Can you not make it blank?

  • Change domain name BPC 10 for MS

    Hi,
    We will change domain name so I will need to change that in BPC for all the end users, which should not be a problem but for the service users running BPC, BPCInstall, BPCAdmin and BPCUser I guess it can/will be a problem.
    Option 1 - reinstall SAP BPC
    I have read a sap note(1451175) where they suggest to reinstall SAP BPC,http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1451175
    and also sap note(1692721),http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1692721
    If I do that the question is can I restore my environment(s) I have today or do they contain the "old" domain name users or is that only stored in the "appserver".
    Option 2 - modify SAP BPC
    Not recommended according to above note.
    Do anyone have any experience in this or suggestions please let me know.
    Brgds
    Mattias Ferling

    Multiple primary zones work fine within you private DNS services, and would be the usual approach for the local DNS server.
    The external (public) DNS services gets another translation and an MX (mail exchange) record that points at your public IP.
    If you're renaming the host itself, you'll reset the name through Server Admin, and then verify the change by launching Terminal.app and issuing sudo changeip -checkhostname command.  If that doesn't work, you might need to reset the host name via the changeip command; see man changeip for details.
    One key piece of all this: your public mail server needs to be an A record, which means your public forward and reverse DNS for your mail server and your MX record and your public static IP address all match.
    Your mail server will need to enable the new domain as a virtual host; that'll all it to receive mail for the new domain.

    and finally I execute again the step 2 of the procedure to change the hostname ... but the error is the same:
    adclonectx Version 120.23.12010000.1

    Do you know how to solve this error ?

    But, the message displayed is related to the procedure "setJlibPath" contained inside the file "adclonectx.pl"
    sub setJlibPath {
    setADJavaPath();
    setJDBCPath();
    setXMLParserPath();
    $CLASSPATH = $JDBCCLASSES . $cpDel . $XMLPARSERV2 . $cpDel . $ADCONFIG;
    # print "\nCLASSPATH = $CLASSPATH\n";
    if ( $ADCONFIG eq "" or $XMLPARSERV2 eq ""
    or $JDBCCLASSES eq "") {
    print "Please ensure that Classpath is set properly\n";
    die "\n";
    else {
    The above procedure is called always you execute adclonectx.pl, and the reference CLASSPATH in the message error is about the variable CLASSPATH that the mentioned procedure try to set a value. It's not related to the ambient variable CLASSPATH... at least is what I understand ..
    I think this is a bug, because the files needed to find in order to set the values of DBCCLASSES, XMLPARSERV2 and ADCONFIG variables are located in other places.
