Change domain name clients and server

Hello,
I want to change the domain name from eg ".vancouver.gov" to ".vancouver.local" on all of our devices in the network. Zcm has been installed with ".vancouver.gov" and the clients also are registered with ".vancouver.gov". When i change the domain name on the workstations and change the corresponding dns entries of the workstations to ".vancouver.gov" i cannot register workstations anymore and wol does not work anymore. Distributing applications to the workstation does work.
Anybody now how to accomplish this change.
We have about 400 workstations and 1 zcm 10.3.3 server.
Thanks.
Ren

I would recommend an SR.
Changing the DNS of Devices should not impact any of that, so long as
the clients can still properly resolve the servers and you are not
destroying the old DNS zone.
This may indicate that the CA/Server CERTs do not have the fullied
qualified DNS name of the server but perhaps just the short name.
Also, I would not recommend attempting to fix any certs right away, but
rather using the "Additional DNS Name" setting on your server, since
changing a Cert could cause lots for work on client PCs.
Later versions of ZCM make changing server certs a little easier but for
10.3.3, I would just use the server setting instead of a change.
But since I suspect you can create an SR as most government accounts
can, it may be simplest to go that route but keep my thoughts avoiding
any cert rebuilds in mind if there is any issue with the names in the
server cert.

  • How to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server

    Hello,
    We want to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server, please could you indicate the steps or procedure to follow?
    I need your help
    thank you

    If it's 3.1 just change them, shouldn't cause any issues if by domain name you are referring to changing the domain the computer belongs to. If you are changing your domain for AD authentication then you will may have to take quite a few steps if the old domain is going away. Let us know.

  • Changing the default domain name of the server.

    I know this is not the correct title for the topic. but its the best word i could found on my voculabary.
    here's my problem.
    Im using Sun App Server 9. the server is installed in the local machine. for testing purposes client access from the local server is sufficient. I deployed a web service using net beans 5.5. My problem is that the WSDL file is generated (by server) uses a fully qualified domain name rather than localhost. for example it uses http://mlb.stdmlb.sliit.lk:8080. When i try to create a client using netbeans it tries to access the server using this address (the one in the WSDL) but the firewall denies access to port 8080. Therefore i want to use the server to use localhost rather than the long domai name. (at least http://mlb) Can anyone tell me how to configure this?

    These are the steps for changing domain name & IP address without reinstall
    a) Stop the Gateway and Server .
    b) Export the profile server database to a flat ldif file:
    # /opt/netscape/directory4/slapd-host_name/db2ldif /temp/profile.ldif
    c) Use awk, perl, or vi, to change every instance of the system domainname in the ldif file to that of the new system.
    d) Import the edited ldif file into the profile server on the new machine:
    # /opt/netscape/directory4/slapd-/ldif2db -i /temp/profile.ldif
    e) edit etc/opt/SUNWips/platform.conf and change all the domain name & Ip address
    f) edit /etc/opt/SUNWips/properties.file change the domain name
    g) Start the platform server and gateway on the new machine.

  • Is it possible to change domain name

    OS: SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8
    Oracle Version: 10.1.0.2.0
    I have Oracle Database installed on SLES 8.
    Is it possible to change domain name after database is running?
    (Not in live production yet)
    If yes where I need to make changes?
    Regards,
    D

    for the database, the dns domain is of no interrest. the parameter db_domain could be change dynamically, but it does not have to match the dns domain. In your sqlnet.ora, you can also define NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN and the domain name in tnsnames.ora. But it does not have to match the dns domain.

  • Cisco ISE change Domain Name

    Our ISE deployment was setup with our internal domain name of csi.corp, when presenting the guest CWA this is the domain name the is presented to
    the guest.  We would like for this to be out public domain and a valid certificate.  From what I have gathered the web portal https certificate must contain the FQDN of the ISE node, therefore I would need to change the domain name on the server(s).  I have found posts that some have changed the domain name after deployment without any adverse results, is this possible?  We are currently integrated with our corp AD and able to utilize this the EAP authentications.  We have 2 nodes in our deployment, is it possible to change the domain name to our public domain without a rebuild?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hmm, unless something has changed I don't believe this would work because:
    - Even though the CN doesn't have to be an exact match of the FQDN, I believe that the domain suffix in the CN still must match the domain suffix in the FQDN. So you can have many different values and domains in the SAN fields but the domain in the CN field must match the domain specified in the FQDN. I don't have any certs to test this with now but I am pretty sure that even though the CSR generation would work, the process will fail when trying to import the cert.
    - Is ".local.corp" a public domain? It doesn't sound like it but perhaps it is :) However, if it is not, then many public CAs won't issue you a public certificate for a private domain. You can definitely give it a try and see what they say :)
    Let me know what you find out!

  • Changing domain name

    Hello All,
    We have oracle Database installed on RED HAT AS 3.1.
    Database version is 9.2.0.5.0.
    We also have two web servers connected to above database server.
    Just before live production, Management asks me to change domain name.
    1) My question is “Does changing domain name effect any thing from Oracle DB perspective"?
    2) Do I need to configure any thing from Oracle database?

  • Change domain name BPC 10 for MS

    Hi,
    We will change domain name so I will need to change that in BPC for all the end users, which should not be a problem but for the service users running BPC, BPCInstall, BPCAdmin and BPCUser I guess it can/will be a problem.
    Option 1 - reinstall SAP BPC
    I have read a sap note(1451175) where they suggest to reinstall SAP BPC,http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1451175
    and also sap note(1692721),http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1692721
    If I do that the question is can I restore my environment(s) I have today or do they contain the "old" domain name users or is that only stored in the "appserver".
    Option 2 - modify SAP BPC
    Not recommended according to above note.
    Do anyone have any experience in this or suggestions please let me know.

    Multiple primary zones work fine within you private DNS services, and would be the usual approach for the local DNS server.
    The external (public) DNS services gets another translation and an MX (mail exchange) record that points at your public IP.
    If you're renaming the host itself, you'll reset the name through Server Admin, and then verify the change by launching Terminal.app and issuing sudo changeip -checkhostname command.  If that doesn't work, you might need to reset the host name via the changeip command; see man changeip for details.
    One key piece of all this: your public mail server needs to be an A record, which means your public forward and reverse DNS for your mail server and your MX record and your public static IP address all match.
    Your mail server will need to enable the new domain as a virtual host; that'll all it to receive mail for the new domain.

  • How to change domain name from "LocalHost" to ipaddress in Jdeveloper?

    Hi
    When i run any application from JDeveloper, the page opening with the URL keeping "*LocalHost*" as a domain name,
    eg: http://*localhost*:7101/Testing/faces/index.jsf
    How can i change the domain name from "localHost" to my system's ipaddress. So that whenever i execute the page, the page should open with the ipaddress and not with "localhost", like http://*10.34.65.175*:7101/Testing/faces/index.jsf
    Regards
    Raj

    Thank you Timo.
    I changed domain name from "localhost" to ipaddress as you said, after that the server stopped working. Unable to run any application.
    Then I changed it back to "localhost" and its working fine.
    I am doing it for 2 reasons,
    1) With localhost as domain name, I am unable to open ADF mobile browser application in Android emulator.
    2) Unable to do remote debugging. Hope this could be the reason.

    Hi,
    I have installed FIM CM Client on one machine and FIM CM update service on another machine. Both are windows server 2008 r2 machines.
    When i try to enroll a permanent smart card for a user, its shows me the following error:-
    The version of OLE on the client and server machines does not match. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010110)
    Also there is no logging done for the particular event.
    I am able to change my smart card pin and view my smart card info. through the FIM CM client.
    Is there a compatibility issue of FIM CM 2010 with Windows server 2008 r2?
    Thanks

  • JSSE  Client and server communication problem .err:untrusted server cert

    Hai all,
    I am trying to communicate JSSE client and server.
    I have created root.cert(CA),root.key,server.cert,server.key , client.cert and client.key. All these certificates are created using openssl.
    I have placed root.cert in default keystore cacerts.
    I have created a keystores(server & client) name mykeystore.
    I have placed root.cert and client.cert in the client keystore.
    I have placed root.cert and server.cert in the server keystore.
    But during the run time i am getting javax.net.ssl.SSLException: untrusted server cert chain.
    please suggest the modifications needs to be done to fix the error.
    please tell me In the client keystore and in the server keystore....what certificates we need to put?
    whether my approach as said above is correct or not?
    In java code how to specify this particular certificate we are referring?
    I have coded in this way ....
    SSLContext ctx;
    KeyManagerFactory kmf;
    KeyStore ks;
    char[] prasad = "prasad".toCharArray();
    ctx = SSLContext.getInstance("SSLv3");
    kmf = KeyManagerFactory.getInstance("SunX509");
    ks = KeyStore.getInstance("jks");
    ks.load(new FileInputStream("mykeystore"), prasad);
    kmf.init(ks, prasad);
    ctx.init(kmf.getKeyManagers(), null, null);
    factory = ctx.getSocketFactory();
    But my doubt is we are specifying only keystore name with that how it will check root.cert(ca) and client.cert and server.cert?
    Is there any modifications need in my code?
    Please tell me some way ...
    Thanks ,
    Prasad.

    Hi prasad,
    There will be a problem with the certificates being received from thr remote server or client. Check that your trust store contains the certificate of the remote machine or the CA that signed it and that the certificate has not expired.
    Also be sure that both machines are using the latest version of the JSSE.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Change display name of the server under Equipment

    is it possible to change the display name of the LIVE / PRODUCTION blade under equipment --> Chasis -->Servers to our own naming standards.
    Attached is the screenshot of current names.
    UCS Manager Version 2.1(3a)

    Azmathulla,
    It is not possible to change the name of the server, but you can add a label to it (see attached screenshot).  And yes, it can be done during production hours, this doesn't affect the production data.
    Please let me know if this answers your question.

    this has nothing to do with your code, but how you are running it. It is a classpath problem.
    You should go to the directory where the UDPClient.class is, and type
    java -classpath . UDPClient
    similarly for the UDPServer

  • Link domain name to .mac server

    How do you link your own domain name to .mac server? please advice, thanks
    SIlver G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi
    This is something that is done by your domain name host, so login to their site.
    Search for domain name forwarding, or domain forwarding.
    Here you enter the address that you wish to forward to.
    The short address for an iWeb page on .mac is:
    http://web.mac.com/YourUserName
    If you have more than one site and wish to forward to a specific one, then you can use:
    http://web.mac.com/YourUserName/iWeb/SiteName <<-- Make sure the W in iWeb is a capital.
