Change Drive Label not Volume

So on my MacAir I did a fresh install of Yosemite and forgot to label the drive, so It looks like this
Untitled 1 (I see this under Disk Utility)
-MacHD (What I see in Finder and if show on desktop enabled)
I know I can change MacHD by right clicking under finder and renaming but can't figure out the Untitled 1 part.

Okay so this is what I am talking about, I know I can change MacHD under finder by hitting return but I don't want to do this, the Untitled 1 is the problem.

  • Changing Drive labels (letters)

Hi, I partitioned the HDD on the K210 to a "C" (for Windows, programs and applications) and "D",  the next letter in the drive sequence somehow was assigned to the DVD Drive and the "E" Drive to the HDVD Drive and then the (Partitions that I created) "F", "G" and "H" Drives (where I store data files, photos,....).
I would like to change (reassign) the "D" and "E" Drives (which are CD-DVD drives) to "outta" letters and use the "D" and "E" letters to reassign (the newly created) "G" and "H" Drives.
Any suggestions on the best / easiest way to do this with out screwing things up even more?
    Thanks,

  • Change drive labels

    Hi Everyone
    I

Start by writing a script to change the label and see how that goes.
You cannot change the label on a CD.
Start these things by searching for you answer.  It will save yo much time:
Here is a complete blog on  this:

  • Can see drive, but not volume with AEBS

Perhaps an odd question: I've been using my airport extreme base station as an NAS drive with my Seagate FreeAgent 380Gb drive for some time now, but after moving and setting up a new network (same settings and whatnot, but different geographical location), I can no longer mount the volume through the finder. I can see the drive using the Airport Utility, but not the volume that I want to mount. The volume shows up fine when I plug directly to my computer.
Oh, and it's mounted NFS+ and Disk Utility doesn't see any problems that need repairs on it.
Does anybody have any insight into this issue? Anybody else had the same problem?

is this only while using the remote app on the iPhone? if you just use the regular appleTV remote can you click on an play streamed (i.e. unsynced) content?
I have all the latest updates and don't have this problem at all but i don't have an iPhone to use as remote...

  • Project Variables Labels Not Updated After Change in OBPM 10GR3

    Hi all,
I had previously deployed a project to the Weblogic Enterprise Server with a set of project variables , layouts, presentations and views.
Now, I changed the labels to the Project Variables using Studio. Made them all Upper Case and re-deployed the project to the Weblogic Enterprise Server.
I restarted Weblogic. I restarted the engine.
But the Project Variables labels in the views did not change from being lower case to upper case.
    Why is that so?

    Anybody on this?
Why do the labels of Project Variables not change in Weblogic Enterprise Server 10GR3 although they change in BPM Studio?
I also tried deleting these project variables from the Engine Tables --> PPROCINSTANCE and PPROCINSTEVENT
    Restarted Weblogic
    Restarted the Engine
    Restarted the workspace
    Redeployed a fresh BPM project.
    But nothing changed?

  • Changes made through CMOD for field label not happening

    Hello,
We wanted to change a standard field label through CMOD, ie :- data element name is RDEALER and the field label is Trader,we wanted to change the label as Profit Center.
Eventhough we could able to make the changes through CMOD, system is still showing the Field Label as Trader.
    Please help.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ramesh Nair

    Hi Ramesh,
Yest, unfortunatelly you will need dev key, as this is part of development.
But one thing which I am noticing now. Option 'F' is not allowed at all to all fields refering some DDIC field.
This means that you must ensure that name of field used in screen is the same as name of field data element you are enhancening for.
I.e. we want to modify keyword (label) for data element S_DATE . This data element refers to field in table SFLIGHT-FLDATE . Now what you only have to ensure about is to check if this screen is picked from a DDIC table.
Therefore name of screen field should be SFLIGHT-FLDATE and From Dic. field should be checked.
By default modify is set to Mask Original from Dic.
This is all set automatically when you have your field picked from DDIC. When you creating a field on screen press F6 -> type SFLIGHT -> Get from Dic -> Select row FLDATE -> confirm with green checkbox -> place your field on screen layout. All above settings will apply automatically.
This even works when you have already screen fields which refers (have above settings) to DDIC field.
If you can't modify field label, it means there must be something wrong set for that field. You have to change it, otherwise it won't see the enhancement.
    Hope this is clear now
    Marcin

  • My windows volume alias now shows only total drive size, not available?

Recently I wanted to take my FAT32 windows partition and convert it to NTFS. I also wanted to expand the space allocated to that partition. I didn't want to lose certain programs that I had on the windows drive.
Someone on these boards recommended a particular command line that is used to convert the FAT32 to NTFS. Then, from there I could use WinClone to clone the drive, expand it, and then put this image back on.
That all worked fine but now on my Mac desktop, I see the icon/alias for my mac drive and the windows drive. But windows shows only the total allocated hard drive space, not the available space. Is there a way I can have this show available like it used to do?
    Thanks.

I wonder how you did that. AFAIK, this is completely impossible from OS X and can only be done from windows. or do you mean a command line in windows?

AFAIK, OS X always showed just total capacity for bootcamp partition formatted NTFS when you view it on the desktop. I don't know why that is but I've never seen it different. just a hunch but maybe if you make the NTFS partition writable by using NTFS-3g or NTFS for Mac by Paragon it will show used space too. I suspect Finder might be reading that info from some metadata it stores on the drive itself.
    Thanks.

  • External Seagate drive suddenly "not readable" by iMac

I'm having a problem with a Seagate Backup Plus external desktop hard drive.
It was working fine, but then I restarted my computer and got a window with the error message:  "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." and options to Initialize…, Ignore, or Eject.
I rebooted my computer a few times, and each time I get the same error message.  When I open Disk Utility, I see the hard drive listed in the side bar, but it is not mounted and will not mount.  Each time it is labeled something like "disk2s2," "disk10s2" or "disk6s2," etc.  That changes slightly each time like that, but seems to always begin with "disk" and end with "s2."
I ran repair disk and got the following result:
The drive is about three months old.  I think it did something like this when I first bought it (I remember seeing the "disk2s2" label in the Disk Utility sidebar), but restarting solved it then.  Now it seems to keep happening every time I restart.
I would really appreciate any help or information any of you can provide.

External hard drive spontaneously unmounted? Try these tips:
NEW FIRMWARE: Try updating your external hard drive's firmware, which is available from your drive manufacturers Web site--or just use VersionTracker's (www.versiontracker.com) search function to find it. Be sure to back up your data before applying the update, and carefully follow the manufacturers instructions.
OUT OF iSIGHT: If you're using an iSight camera while you're using a FireWire drive, the camera may be interfering with the drive's ability to stay mounted. Try temporarily disconnecting your iSight and moving it to a separate FireWire port. If you have multiple FireWire devices, try using a FireWire hub.
POWER PROBLEM: A faulty power adapter could be causing your drive to unmount. Your drive may not be getting enough juice to stay on, causing the drive to turn off and thereby unmounting it from your Mac. Alternately, the power adapter may not be providing a steady amount of power, causing your drive to turn on and off. Try replacing the adapter. If you can't get a replacement adapter from the hard drive manufacturer, try your local electronics store. Just make sure the adapter you choose has the same connector and input/output voltage. you can find the input/output voltage on the adapter itself.
    Cheers!

  • Windows Deployment Services - Windows 8.1 Deployment Failure (Required Driver could not be Installed)

    Hello everyone,
Give you a little background on the hardware/software which we are running to do a Windows 8.1 Deployment, we have an VM of Windows Server 2008 R2 with Windows Deployment Services installed and configured correctly. For the boot image it's a Windows 8.1
WIM and as for the Install Image we have a base image of Win 8.1 with all drivers installed for an HP EliteBook 8540w , we Syspreped and then capture the image using the W2K capture on PXE to capture and upload the image to the server. This is where we first
ran into the problem of connecting to the server and had to inject the lan drivers to have network connectivity. After the image was uploaded to the server, we thought to try and run a deployment of that image on an identical laptop. PXE boot into that Image,
it asks for domain credentials which are accepted it begins the installation process and fails at "Windows installation cannot continue because a required driver could not be installed"?
We just set up client logging on the server and it is useless it just says that the driver is missing, but what driver is missing? There are thousands, which one?
Another forum has this issue:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/4cf0b378-09d0-4e0b-bc6e-3d898b668f98/during-deployment-windows-installation-cannot-continue-because-a-required-driver-could-not-be?forum=w8itproinstall

    Hi,
Please first check the solution here:
Error: Windows installation cannot continue because a required driver could not be installed
    http://support.brainwaregroup.com/kb/article/AA-00702/0/Error%3A-Windows-installation-cannot-continue-because-a-required-driver-could-not-be-installed.html
Also, please try to find out Setup logs from the client computer, and we can see the details in the Setup log:
If the failure occurs in Windows PE before the disk configuration page of the WDS client is completed, you can find the logs at the
X:\Windows\Panther folder. Use Shift+F10 to open a command prompt, and then change the directory to the location.
If the failure occurs in Windows PE after the disk configuration page of the WDS client is completed, you can find the logs on the local disk volume at the
$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther folder. The local disk volume is usually the drive
    C. Use Shift+F10 to open a command prompt, and then change the directory to the location.

  • External Hard Drive is Not Showing Up on Desk top?

My external hard drive is not showing up on my desk top any more. When I tried to reconnect it I get the follow message.
You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. To use the unreadable volumes, click Initialize.
Help what should I do? I have 50 GB of music on it and it's never had this problem before.
    Thanks
    Jeremy

Norton has a bad reputation because they have not kept up with changes in the Mac file structure. Norton version 8 is the one you should be using, if you choose to use it. Earlier versions will likely damage your directory, possibly beyond repair by other utilities.
Any time you use any Disk Repair Utility, it is somewhat of a crap shoot. It may or may not be able to make the repair, and you may or may not lose a few to very many files in the process. The program best respected in this arena is Disk Warrior. If you choose to buy it, pay very close attention to which version you are buying, as the latest version CD (intended to boot 10.3 or 10.4) may not boot on your Mac.

  • BitLocker Drive Label

We use BitLocker on our laptops which are not connected to AD. We would like to change the Computer Name of the laptops and would like the BitLocker Drive Label to match the new Computer Name. Is there a way to change the Drive Label without decrypting and
re-encrypting the drive? I don't see any options to change the Drive Label with the Manage-bde command line tool. Thanks.
    Charles

    Hi Ronald,
Thanks for reply. I read your solution in the blog and I think you might misunderstand what Charles means.
I think Charles did mean he changed his computer name and wants his drive label in Bitlocker password entry match his new computer name, not just change the Bitlocker driver label.
    As following:
But still thank you for your input.

  • My external hard drive does not show up on my desktop

My external hard drive does not show up on my dest top but, does shows in my Windows (vmware fusion) end although I can't see it ob my desktop but, I can eject it properly like any external drive. I have connected it to my windows and ejected properly (per the suggestion of someone on this forum) but, it still doesn't show on my Mac. I see the blue light and hear it running though. I have looked for it in disk utility but, still can find it. I have changed the cable and it still did not show on my Mac. I connected another external drive  and that showed up on my desktop.Any help????

if it is NTFS then you need Paragon Software NTFS for Mac.
NTFS volumes are suppose to be read only but in practice external drives don't always mount or work.
If it is not NTFS then you need more details. Need more anyway.
PS: this is not a MacBook area, it is Mac 65lbs tower related forum.

  • Hard drive will not mount after optical drive upgrade

I recently performed an optical drive install. Had to remove the hard drive bays (I use three hard drives - Luckily, 2 run OSX).
I carefully removed all three drive bays and the empty bay. When I inserted the drives into the computer I had changed the position, swapping one OSX drive with a different one and reversing the drive bays. On restart, the computer started on the drive I had not selected for startup and I received an error message stating the other drive could not mount and it gave three options (Initialize - Ignore and Eject).
I can see the drive in Disk Utility and repair the permissions (it's also located in the System Profile).
I tried a few things I read in the community using various Terminal commands but was unsuccessful.
(Let me point out that I recently switched from a PPC G5 to MacPro and swapped the drives from PPC into MacPro and all has been fine until I removed changed their positions in the bays)
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend you reformat your drives that you brought over, and if possible put in a Firewie case.
Swapping drives will normally not matter but you should use Startup Disk to reset the default after using Option key the first time.
Putting in an optical device shouldn't require removing the drives to get the cage loose and let you put in a 2nd superdirve.
G5 used APM partition map, Intel Macs use EFI and requie GPT/GUID.
A drive with just data should not matter but that is not fool-proof either.
A drive iwth the system from a G5 though can.
During startup the boot process scans all volumes and looks for systems and mountable volumes.
Pull all the drives except the one with OS X that you were using, and put that in bay #1.
I've moved arrays between bays and that never "broke" the array or had trouble mounting and using (even moving to ODD ports).
