Change duration of multiple clips

Is there a way to change the duration of multiple still photos at the same time (rather than doing it one-photo-at-a-time), without changing the zoom levels and Ken Burns effect that has been applied to some of the photos?

O.k, I know what happened with my test project. My photos all had the same zoom setting. My Ken Burns photos all had the same zoom setting as well, a pan from left to right like train cars moving past, that I cribbed from another project to do the test. Since the zoom settings and KB effects were all the same to start with, I couln't tell that they all were being conformed to the settings of the first photo when I changed the duration. Sorry.
Looks like you'll have to just brew a pot of coffee and start the tedious task. But there might be some groups of photos that have the same zoom levels, and you can use my suggested procedure to change the duration of those as a group.

  • Change duration of multiple clips "as one" overall clip?

    Here's my situation:
I have a song at 127 BPM. I have a music video (muted sound) at 125 BPM.
I've spent a long time slicing up clips from the video into different channels and muliple clips to form one timeline (but with many clips and channels lined up).
I now want to change the overall duration of the video clip to match the BPM of the song (which I should have done in the first place), but the video is, as previously stated, sliced up in mulitple clips in multiple channels. How can I change the duration of all clips at one time, where the end and start of the clips still line up to eachother?
This would've been incredibly easy if there were a un-nesting feature. Where I can nest multiple clips, change the duration, and un-nest the clips to slices clips with a changed overall duration. (Which is not possible. Yes, I can drag the clips out of the nested clip, but the clips will still have the original duration).
TL;DR: How can I change duration of multiple clips "as one" overall clip?

Never mind. I've found a alternate solution. I used a time stretch calculator at http://mp3.deepsound.net/eng/samples_calculs.php and time stretched all the clips to match the BPM of the song. Now I only need to snap all the clips, which can be done one by one, but I found this trick to snap all the clips at once: http://vimeo.com/27428526.

  • Changing the Duration of multiple clips/Gee I thought I knew how?!

Okay folks. I have a group of pictures on the timelime. I need to shorten the duration of all clips. I highlighted the clips, control+click on one of the clips--navigated to duration.
When I change the duration, the computer beeps and returns the time to the orginal clip length of 10:00. I can change an individual clip in this manner but not the whole timeline.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help.

Never Mind. I had a sequence in my list of clips. Took it out and that solved the problem. Sorry.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Can't change duration of multiple photos

In iMovie 5 I was able to change the duration of multiple still photos all at once, but this feature does not seem to work in iMovie 6. I've searched the topics on this forum and tried the suggestions I found but nothing works. I can't even import a single photo with the duration I choose - iMovie defaults to a duration of 00:02 if I choose 00:05, for example. I'm creating a stop-motion movie from hundreds of photos and double-clicking on each one to set the duration seems ridiculous. Any ideas?

Hi rattlebrain - welcome to the forum!
It does work in iMovie 6:
Establish the duration you want as default before importing the pics, and also decide then whether or not you want to import with the KB effect selected.
To update after they have been imported, select them all in the Timeline/Clips View, then in the Photos Pane adjust the duration with the slider, and hit Update.
Note - you may have to click the "show photo settings" button to access the floating settings pane.

  • How to change duration of multiple photos

Greetings - I'm trying to change the duration of multiple photos in iMovie. Basically, I'm trying to change the duration of about 300 images (to make a time-lapse movie), but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.
I need to change the duration of every photo to 0:03, but when when I do so, it automatically imports the photos with a duration of 9:29, and I can only change the duration of individual photos after import. I made a time-lapse move a while ago but can't remember how to do it. Any thoughts?

Select a group of your stills in the time line. (I would do maybe 30 at a time, because to do the whole 300 at once might overwhelm the machine -- though you could try.) Then go to Media > Photos > Show Photo Settings. In the Show Photo settings dialogue box, set your duration to 0:03, and then hit Update. The selected photos should all update to 0:03. You may need to remove the transitions first.
Another way would be to set your duration for 0:03 on the first photo that you import into your timeline. Then all other photos that you import afterwards will have that same duration.

  • Change Duration of Multiple Still Images - No Ripple

New to FCP X -- still trying to figure things out.  I have a bunch of still images that were put into timeline -- all 10 seconds.  I was changing the duration of groups of them within the timeline and everything was going great...timeline would ripple down after shortinging the duration.
But for no apparent reason...things changed and now changing the duration only shortens each one but doesn't ripple the rest of the timeline down (see pic).
Can anyone explain how to fix this?  I've been trying to fix it for awhile now and getting nowhere.  Thanks in advance.

Hello I tried changing the duration of multiple stills when music was already added and I got this. Is there any way of avoiding this, perhaps by desyncing the audio from the image first perhaps? Thanks

  • Changing volume in multiple clips at once?

Im going crazy pulling the volume level up and down to the same level in multiple clips, are there any way to mark the clips and change the level in all of the at once?

    select clips

CMD - to lower 1 dB, CMD + to raise 1dB
CMD OPT L to enter a numeric value either relative to the current level or absolute level

  • Change properties to multiple clips?

Hi, I was wondering if I could change the reel name of clips in an entire bin? I thought there was a shortcut?
    thx! ea

You can select multiple clips and then Control-click (right-click) in the Reel column. That brings up a shortcut menu of all existing reel names from which you can select the right one, with that change cascading across all selected clips. You may (or may not) get a dialog warning you that you're changing the source file.
Of course, your Browser will need to be in List View to accomplish this. Also, if your reel name doesn't exist in your project already, you'll need to enter it manually - click into the Reel column - for a single clip, then try this whole process.

  • How to change effects on multiple clips

Is there a way to change and/or adjust effects/filters on multiple clips at once?  I have added an effect on a scene and I want to adjust the overall level to all the clips, i.e. the amount of the effect applied.
I highlighted all the clips and made the adjustment in the Inspector, but it only made the adjustment to one single clip even though I selected all.  I REALLY do not want to sit and adjust each one seperately.
    Anyone with an answer?  Thanks

I am not adding an effect. I am adjusting ONE single effect within multiple clips that have multiple effects. if I just copy and paste it copies ALL the effects, which I do not want, because I have different effects for different clips. i.e. different color schemes etc.
In otherw ords, I wnat to be able to EDIT effects in multiple clips. E.G, I have added color correction, "looks" filter, etc to multiple clips.  I just want to change ONE of those effects in multiple clips without disturbing the rest of the effects in those clips.

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system?
Let us assume Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for the purpose of an example.
    1. Select all the clip on the Timeline (all at one time) that are being targeted for same duration change.
    2. Right click anywhere in the selection, select Time Stretch, and, then in the Time Stretch dialog, change the duration 00;00;0O;00. (hours; minutes; seconds; frames).
Do you have one of those versions that I mentioned, making sure to select all the involved clips ahead of time before going
    after Time Stretch?
    Selections
If you want all the clips on the Timeline, then Edit Menu/Select All
    or
Hold down the Shift key of the computer main keyboard, and, with the mouse cursor, click on each of the clips to be involved in this duration change
    or
With the mouse cursor, draw a rectangle around the clips to go into the selection in order to select them

  • Any way to change the duration of multiple clips in the timeline at once?

    Title says it all
    Thanks

Can you manually drag back and forth with the handles on the timeline? Appreciate it.

  • Re: Change duration of multiple still images in one operation

I have done this in Premiere CS6. Make sure your selection Tool is selected. Click and drag to select the multiple slides that are ALREADY placed in your timeline that you want to change. Right click on your selection (make sure it's a regular mouse cursor and not a red editing tool) and click "Speed/Duration." Change the duration by clicking and dragging the yellow numbers. You can also type it in if need be. Keep in mind that it is in Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Fractions Seconds. Be sure that "Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips" is checked otherwise you will get gaps between photos if cutting down the time or nothing will happen if you are increasing the duration. Click OK.

Are you in the wrong forum?
You have posted in the Premiere Elements Forum, not Premiere Pro Forum, commenting with CS6 information on a 2009 Premiere Elements question in 2014..
There is no "Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips" in Premiere Elements.
    Please review and consider.

  • How do you match the video duration of multiple clips to match the audio?

If 'Windows Movie Maker' could do this..... come on! There's gotta be a way. I have multiple video clips that equal a duration of say 10 minutes. My audio file (that consists of 2 songs) equals say 7 minutes. HOW DO I SELECT ALL VIDEO CLIPS AND MATCH THEIR TOTAL DURATION TO EQUAL THAT OF THE AUDIO?

HOW DO I SELECT ALL VIDEO CLIPS AND MATCH THEIR TOTAL DURATION TO EQUAL THAT OF THE AUDIO?
    It's called "editing".
If you don't want to do it, hire someone or fire up Windows Movie Maker.
On the other hand, Apple seems to be headed down the "design the software for the lowest common denominator" path lately. Perhaps Final Cut X can do this? You might ask over in that forum.

  • Change duration of multiple still images in one operation

    Hello Folks.
I am trying to change the duration of each image in a sequence of still images.
    Program: Adobe Premiere Elements 7
    Mode: Standard Definition 4/3 ratio
File types in use: MOD, AVI, PNG
Problem: The product manual states: "To apply the new default length to all still images in your project, delete them from Project view and reimport them into your project."
Question: Is there a way to select a group of still images and then apply a new duration value to all of them in one operation?  An Adobe salesperson told me that this is possble before I purchased the program, but I cannot figure out how this is done. I switched to Adobe from another product in order to get this feature. Now that I need it, I cannot figure a way to get it to work. Time Stretch is not available when I select multiple images.
    Thank you,
    Brian

    Brian,
Unfortunately not. PrPro CS4.2 has just added a way to change the Duration of previously Imported stills, but so far PrE does not allow for this, unless it is new to PrE 8, but I have not read of this.
As noted, the method is to set the Edit>Preferences>General>Default Stills, and choose the Duration in Frames. Then Import the stills. If they are in the Project, that setting has already been applied, so one must delete them from the Project Panel and re-Import them with the new Duration.
Now, one can obviously change the Duration on a one-by-one basis in the Timeline, but that can be tedious, if there are many stills. If I were doing this, I would make sure to have the Info Panel open and nearby, Window>Info.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if PrE 8 HAS added the post-Import Duration change, I hope someone steps up with that info.
