Change email address, due to old one being removed

Hi,
I have just been informed that I will be losing my bt email address and I have set up a new email address for my apple id, but my iCloud id has not changed.
Where can I change this to my new one or do I need to delete the account and set up a new one? Trying to do it on iPad, so would mac be easier?

Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account. Then enter the ID for the new account.

If you don't have access to your previous email address you used for your Apple ID, then you can simply change your Apple ID email address by following the directions in the article below.

Okay... I redeemed my itunes gift card, under my old ID. I had since updated my new email address, but didnt realize i redeemed it under the old ID. I tried to redeem it under my new ID, but i couldnt. Is there a way to switch my gift card amount to my current ID??

No, it's not currently possible to transfer a redeemed card to a different account, and you also won't be able to use it to gift content to the newer account (you can only gift via a credit card) - so the amount will remain linked to that old account

You can start by finding your Apple ID at iforgot.apple.com by clicking "Forgot your Apple ID?"
You will also be able to reset your password at this site using email authentication or security questions.
If you can remember the password, you can sign into appleid.apple.com and possibly reset the security questions by going to Password and Securty and then hiting the Reset security questions option.

My computer crashed and I'm tryng to change everything over to my mac via my ipod classic and just Transfer old files. There is no way to merge two Apple IDs as all purchases made with each account are always tied to those accounts.
All you can do to each account is change the email address for each one but they can't have the same email address.

I can't find a place where TB directs emails in any account to a default account. Having just changed email addresses. I have have two accounts in my TB program. For each email I receive, at either account, I get a message saying it was forwarded to the old account and is undeliverable, since the isp has shut down that account. How do I change or delete that automatic forwarding? I have not deleted that account from my TB list yet, since I am still working through the files left there to decide whether to move or delete the individual emails. You'll need to login to your account via browser and check the settings for your account.
There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'. Thunderbird is an email client you use to retrieve mail from an account you setup with your email provider.

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.

This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

I changed email addresses and computers. I had a bunch of songs loaded to an old computer I have copied to my new one. Each time I try to play them I get a message wanting me to grant the new machine permissions, I do this but they still will not play??????

- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

So I can't sign into iCloud! I can still sign into iTunes though from my iPhone and laptop, but iCloud isn't working anymore, where do I go to update my AppleID in the log-in for iCloud???

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
