Change email address on my icloud account

I made the mistake of using an aol email address for all my accounts on my iPhone and iPad. Now I want to abandon that account and establish a .me account using that email as my address. Can anyone tell me how to 1) establish a .me account and 2) change the email address on my apple accounts?

Are you trying to change the email address which forms the login? Or the @icloud.com address you created when you opened the account? You can't change the latter.
You can change the login address as long as it isn't an @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com address.
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

Changing email address on my iCloud account

I had to change my email from a yahoo account to gmail. How can I change my iCloud ID to match that new email.
I can't find any place to change the email address in iCloud.
I am running Yosemite on my iMac computer.

If you updated your iCloud ID to a new email address, to change it on your Mac go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with the updated ID (your data will download back to your Mac).

Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then setup iCloud with your new ID.
You can't change the Apple ID for your iCloud account, you have to delete it.

If your AppleID is a .Mac or .Me account then you can't change it. But it shouldn't go away.
If it is something else you can. Just log in here (https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/) and manage your AppleID. Click edit next to the ID and you should be able to simply change it.

How do I get an iCloud email address for an iCloud account that is already set up?

When I set up my wife's iCloud account, I used her regular email address. Now, when I try to iMessage her from my iPhone (4s), I am successful when I am on a wifi but not via my cellular connection. I can iMessage other users. I believe this is due to her not having an iCloud email address on her iCloud account. I suspect that when my message is sent via cellular, it tries to go to her actual email address which fails. She is able to iMessage me regardless of my connection from her iPad (4th).
Does anyone know how to add an iCloud address to an existing iCloud account?

Thanks Jim. I'm pretty sure it is set up correctly. The only issue the ipad has is it dies not receive messages from my iphone when the iphone is not on wifi. She can send/receive imessages to/from others and from my iphone when it is on wifi.

If you haven't already removed the email address from your contacts in cloud, you may want to start there. If that doesn't work, then you may be out of luck. Unfortunately, smartphones remember things we don't want them to :-(

Ok. First, you don't have to use the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMessage, etc. Everyone can still share the existing ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores without creating any issues. This will prevent any issues relating to accessing your purchased music. They should, however, use separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs for iCloud, as well as iMessage and FaceTime.
You will first want to migrate your daughter to her own iCloud account with her own ID (again, she can keep the existing ID for purchasing). To do this, assuming she already has data in the existing iCloud account, she will want to set up the existing account on her phone to download the data from iCloud. This can be done during the setup process if her phone is not set up yet. After doing this, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from her device, not from iCloud.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep on My iPhone. Then set up a new iCloud account on her phone with a new ID. If she doesn't have one, tap Get Free Apple ID at the bottom to create one. After setting up the new account, she can turn on iCloud data syncing, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload the data on her phone to the new account. After confirming that her data migrated to the new account successfully you can now set up your wife's phone.
If the existing iCloud account contains your daughter's data, you will probably want to go to icloud.com on your computer and manually delete it before setting this account up on your wife's phone. If you don't, when she syncs with the account, her data will be merged with the existing data from your daughter and you'll still have to manually remove the daughter's data from the account. Be sure your daughter's data is in her own account before deleting it from the original account or it will be lost.
Once the original iCloud account is free of your daughter's data, you can set up this account on your wife's phone, turn on iCloud data syncing, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload your wife's data to the original account.
Finally, to avoid getting each other's text messages or FaceTime calls, everyone should also have separate IDs for these services. If they don't, for iMessage go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sigh back in with a separate ID. For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

Basically I left the Apple ecosystem a year or so ago, I have recently purchased myself an iPhone 6 and decided I wanted a fresh start so decided to create another account.
The only problem is I still use the old email and if possible I'd like to close it on my old account and have it transferred to my new one, is this possible? I'm not too fussed about losing calendars or contacts as I successfully transferred those over.
So yeah, basically can I have my other email address moved over to the new account?

You cannot transfer your iTunes account to your iCloud account. However you can change its login to another non-Apple address. Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID. Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'. Enter your new address (which cannot be an Apple address) and click 'Save changes'. Now open iTunes and sign out; sign back in with the new login address.

To change the iCloud ID on your devices you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted (if using iOS 7), then sign back in with your current ID.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, you will have to temporarily recreate it in order to delete the existing account. Hey you guys! I recently changed the email address that I was using for my iCloud. Now my iPhone still has the iCloud information with my old email address, and to change that, it appears that I have to delete the iCloud account and re-add it. The only problem is: when I try to delete the account, it asks me for my iCloud password, but it's still linked to the old email address, so even though my password is correct, the email address no longer is, and thus it tells me that the password is incorrect, and I can't delete the account, and reconfigure iCloud on my phone. If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I'd like to change the email adress attached to my iCloud account but can't figure out how to do so.
I've got 2 @me.com and want to change the one set up but can't find out where and how to do that.
Any ideas?

You can't add an existing @me.com address to an existing iCloud account.
@me.com addresses are already Apple IDs and iCloud accounts are based on an Apple ID, so trying to add one to the other is effectively attempting to merge two Apple IDs which isn't possible.
Did you not move your @me.com MobileMe AppleID to iCloud as recommended here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895 ?
