Change email display name????

My display name for the exhange email set up on my iphone appears wrong. I have double checked with the email provider and they say this has to be changed with apple. How do i do that?

Log into your webmail, click on Preferences (tools icon) (upper right ish). Now on the left, you click on accounts click on the account at the top (I only have one - so the details show up on the lower right) and change your from name.
Now I did stop and re-start my mail app on the ipad and it did not (yet) update the name. I am not sure when this gets done but I will be phoning shaw when I get a chance and update this post at that time.
Wish me luck. You could also set it up as a pop account. Shaw does not have the imap option like the rest of the planet (in the year of 2013!)

Hi there - I have searched several forums and for some reason haven't been able to find the answer to my question. I have a business email account hosted through google apps, and my email is set up on my iPhone as an active-exchange account. Emails sent from my phone display my official first name instead of the one that I go by and want to display. Emails sent from the gmail interface and outlook display my correct name.
I don't have an option in my account information screen to change this, and I haven't been able to find where this is stored.

Unable to change outgoing email display name on 9930. Only displays email address to clients

I have tried to change my outgoing email display name to my name but when I delete the email address on username field and input my name it says "not a valid email address". Tried on the Blackberry website with my profile and on my handheld device. Why is this so difficult? I can't send emails to clients as on their end it just shows my email address in the from field and not my full name. My email account name on my Blackberry shows the full name I want to display, but it keeps defaulting to my username, which is my email address. I have a 9930 that is two years old. Thanks.

Thanks for the details! When did this issue start? Is your Blackberry on a Blackberry Enterprise server from your company? Is this an outlook Microsoft Exchange email account? This may help with changing your settings:

Thanks Allan. Slight problem, I changed my email address on my Apple ID and now I can't get into my Icloud settings on my iphone. Can I do it on my laptop or via icloud.com or appleid perhaps?

How to change the display name for Gmail aliases?

I have a Gmail account with multiple aliases. They look like this:
Joe User <[email protected]> (Primary)
Support <[email protected]> (Alias)
Billing <[email protected]> (Alias)
Works great. I'm trying to set up Apple Mail on my new MacBook to support the aliases as well. I am able to input the e-mail aliases, but the display names for all are 'Joe User' which defeats the purpose of having the aliases.
I have to imagine I can do this. Can someone help me out?

Wrong email display name with german umlauts (MS Exchange 2003)

We use 6 iPhones with Exchange 2003 and get wrong email display names with german umlauts (ä,ü,ö) - but the email-body is right.
We get special characters instead of umlauts, so the display name split into pieces. Anwering is not posipble - we get a failure-message.
We changed the standard-internet-mailformat on the exchange-server to unicode utf-8. First it works fine, after a few hours the names displays wrong again.
So we use this hotfix:

Any ideas?

Do you have commas in the display name? We used to have "Müller, Thomas" <[email protected]> and then got the split up and special characters you mention. Tests have shown that when leaving out the comma in the display name, e.g. "Thomas Müller" <[email protected]>, everything worked fine.
Guess it's a question of whether a company wants to change its naming convention for a few iPhone users...

Email display name for mobile me

is there a way to change my display name for my me.com email account to a gmail address? i have forwarded the gmail, and do not want the confusion of a new email address for recipients. under mail preferences, "send mail as", you can enter a name, but it will not let me include "@". thanks for any help.

we are using microsoft mail server, and its working fine, i just write the Email, and i got the mail written by the name equivalant to this name in the Active Directory.
and also its working fine when i write only the name

How to change 'captured' display name?

How can I view, and more importantly edit, a 'captured' display name?
I can view and change the display name I made for the contact entry in the address book, but cannot view, much less edit, the 'captured' display name (I looked at the address book using 'Notepad' and can see the entry of the 'captured' display name).
This causes problems when I start entering the person's name since the 'captured name' often shows up.
Scenario:
(1) Person's name = John Doe; Original email address = [email protected]; First message received from original email address had a 'captured'/'sent' display name of 'John Doe'; I created and edited the contact entry / address card and explicitly entered 'John Doe';
(2) Person now has a new primary email address = [email protected], but wants to keep original email address; With the new, primary email address, I edited the original contact entry / address card and change the display name to 'John Doexx' (keeping the original email address); I created a new contact entry / address card with a display name of 'John Doe' and entered the new primary email address.
(SITUATION) When I create an email message and start to enter the name 'John Doe', several names are listed. In sequence, the consists of the first (i.e. 'original') address card up with the display name of 'John Doe', then the second ('new') address card with the display name of 'John Doe', and then the 'original' address card (again) with the display name of 'John Doexx'.
Bottom line, I need to change the 'captured' display name for the first address card so it matches the display name I entered. Alternatively, TBird should ignore 'captured' display names if a display name is explicitly entered.
P.S. This questions/issue does not involve a concern about the name actually displayed in the message, although that too should be addressed.

Changing the display name of project file folders for TOC

I'm interested in changing the display names of the project file folders for my TOC. For example, I want to name the folder "01-intro" so that it is short and lowercase. But I'd like the TOC to say "Introduction to the System." I know I can manually rename the folder in the TOC either through its properties or by right-clicking => Rename, but I auto-create the TOC occasionally and I don't want to have to rename every folder every single time.
Does anyone know if there is a way to set a persistent property for the folder so that its display name in the TOC is different? I am using RoboHelp 9. I saw an option called "Detail" in the properties of the WebHelp layout in RoboHelp 8 that seems like it may have done that, but I no longer see this property in RoboHelp 9.

I think the lack of response confirms that if you are going to use Auto Create, you have to accept the way it is.

Is there a possibility of changing the display name of the nodes in JTree? I mean not the actual name of the JTree object, but only the display name? Is there any method available for that?

If your tree node object has application-specific complexity, you should define a custom tree node class and a renderer for that. Or if you just could use DefaultMutableTreeNode, call setUserObject() method with a new String.

How to change your displayed name

How do you change your displayed name in iCloud? I have tried changing the settings and I also update my Apple ID profile, but iCloud still displays my old name.
The name displays in the upper right hand corner and is always displayed, even if you select Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Notes, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just had this problem myself. All you have to do is visit https://appleid.apple.com/ . Log in and you can edit your info. Best luck!

I'd like to change my display name but it seems to be locked out in the options. I see this as a privacy issue.

That whole FAQ post. I'm guessing it's out of date, or whoever wrote it was as misinformed as the customer service rep I spoke to for an hour trying to resolve the issue.
As I said, the Forum screen name and Adobe screen name are seperate; feel free to go and change your adobe screen name and watch in wonder as your forum screen name remains the same and uneditable.
Click on your name at the top of the page ('welcome, XXX'), on the right you'll see 2 links. 'Edit forums profile' and 'Edit Adobe profile'. The directions in the FAQ post direct you to the 'Edit your Adobe profile' page (just through a different route) where you can see an editable field for your screen name. Go through to the forums profile page and you'll also see a screen name which may be different to your Adobe screen name, and is completely uneditable.
The two don't appear to be linked at all (which is completely contradicotry to the FAQ post).

How can one change the display name of a column.
For example I have columns C_ProjectID which when display in view should appear "Project ID". I tried to play with FieldRef but somehow it doesn't reflect the change on page.
What I am missing here? Below is the schema from Sharepoint designer.

To change the column name, you can simply select the field name from the ListSettings page and change its title /column name to the desired name. Note:the internal name of the column will still remain the same.
Secondly, you can also do this progrmatically too :

You can change the display name via Sharepoint Designer bu clicking on the list -> list settings -> click on "Edit list columns" under cutomizations > select the column and right click and select rename.

Glad to ... please note, I am a Win7 PC, so if you use any other operating system or device, what I am about to descrobe here could be very different as the Skype client software works and displays differently depending upon the platform.
At the top of the contacts list, click Skype -> Profile -> Edit your profile -> click your mouse over the name which appears beside your picture or at the top of this screen. Delete the text and type what you wish to appear - please note, this will appear both in your public profile and to your contacts. When you are finished editing the text, click the check mark beside the box.
Just above your name and above your picture or avatar, you may click on the Public profile or Contacts only buttons to review what will be seen either publicly or to your contacts only. Clicking the Edit button will take you back into the screen where you can make changes to your settings.
You will see at the end of several lines the words "private," "contacts only," or "public" in grey type. These are default settings where this information can be viewed and which said default setting can not be changed. If there is a drop-down box with a choice, you can decide where that information is displayed depending upon what the options are in that drop-down box.
