Change event to different calendar?

Hi all,
As far as I can see, there's no way to do this, but I thought I'd ask here before giving up. Can I change an event from one calendar to another directly on the iPhone? (I know I can do it in iCal.) I see I can select which calendar when creating a new event, but why not when editing an existing one?

In Settings>Mail>Contacts & Calendars, you can set the default calendar, this will be used when creating new events etc. However, you can also select which calendar you want to use when you are creating a new event etc., Unfortunately, you cannot not change the calendar once the event has been created.

I have found a huge bug in iCal that the Genius Bar people were stumped. After a few months I was no longer able to access my ToDo's. Every time I would open up the ToDo list the screen would freeze. The application was still running and I could shut it down but nothing I clicked on worked or worked irratically. I am never able to view my ToDo's. The Genius people tried to fix it and could not. They suggested that I reload the operating system from my original disk. I did so, then updated OS X to the current version, no luck, same problem.
I am stumped and I don't think the Genius' will be able to help me any more, maybe someone out there can?

When syncing multiple Google calendars to iPad, switching event to different Google sub-calendar using iPad creates a duplicate in Google.
Using Google account with the Exchange setup on an iPad mini. iOS up to date. I have a secondary calendar in my Google account for some appointments, and when I create the event on the iPad and it defaults to my main Google calendar, changing the event to the secondary calendar caused the following:
1) at first, the event totally disappeared from my iPad. Scary! Reappeared when I went into Gcal on the web, opened the event to edit, and re-saved. Phew.
2) Failing to re-create error #1, I switched a new event from primary to secondary calendar, and it then appears correct on iPad, but is duplicated on the web. The duplicate remains even after deleting the changed event on iPad, refreshing Gcal, etc.
Just curious if anyone else is having this problem or has discovered a workaround or fix.

When you open the Calendar app, tap the button at the top-left corner (Calendars). That should reveal all the calendars you have available, and you can select/ un-select any or all of them.
If you don't see your 2nd GMail calendar listed, go into Settings/ Mail/ (account name) and make sure you've turned the calendar ON for this account.

How do i display events from different calendars side by side and not on top of each other

I must have something set up wrong on one of my calendars on my macbook pro 10.7. On one of the calendars, the events do not make space for an event from another calendar so I can see both events sidi by side in a week or day view.

I have been having the exact same problem, however, I am not seeing your graphic. From your description, though, I can tell we have the same problem. This has only become a problem since migrating everything over to iCloud and since upgrading to Lion.

Um, color tagging events has always been a feature of iCal. Go into iCal. In the upper left-hand corner it says "Calendars." Go under "File" and create a new Calendar--iCal will give it a color, but you can change that. Now whether you can sync your iCal to Google and match up the colors is a whole other story. But you can--and have for as long as I can remember---color code your iCal events.

Using ical how can I change different events to different colors?

I am new to using ichat and I want to be able to use one calendar but label different events different colors (green work, blue exercise, yellow appointments..) can I do this? If I can't how do I combine the different calendars into one, so I can reference it at one time and not have to go between the different calendars?

You can colour calendars. You can't change the colours of different events within a calendar. You don't have to keep switching between calendars - you can have any number of calendars within iCal, all different colours, and have them all show at once so the effect is the same as what you are asking for. Just select the appropriate calendar when you create an event.

I totally understand what you are saying and I rarely take an argumentative approach in this forum, but what I am trying to point out to the OP is that you cannot create different colors for "events" in one single calendar.
For instance, if you have one calendar called "Home" and that is the one calendar that you use - if Billy has a soccer game at 6:00 PM, Jessica has band practice at 7:00 PM and you have a bridge club meeting (I'm stuck for another idea at the moment ) at 7:30 PM - and you want all of these "Events" to appear in different colors within the same calendar - it cannot be done.
Sometimes I think this is what users want to do - differentiate the different "Events" within a single calendar - and that cannot be done - at least AFAIK.

I tried to put them in using the "Home calendar" blue, and them change them to purple (Work Calendar) after I had paid them. The problem is that once I changed a bill from blue to purple it changed all upcoming bills for future months to purple also.

You might want to try Reminders.
Creat a Bill Pay list, add all your bills set a reminder to repeat every month and when you pay one just check them off as complete

As Apple has yet to upgrade iCalendar so I can check off my events as I complete them (no, I do not want to use a task list/reminder list), I want to be able to move my events to my "completed" events calendar as I complete them. The issue is that most of my events are repeating events, and it changes the entire series. How do I change only the event I clicked on using my iPhone?

If you change anything in a repeating calendar entry it will give you the option of disconnecting it from the series. So may any random change, choose to not change the series.

When I try to add a new event to iCal a dialog says "you can't add or change events in the Birthday Calendar". How do I cancel this?

You can not add events to the birthday's calendar. To add birthday's to the birthday calendar you need to add the birthday to a contact in the Contacts app.
You can set your default calendar here:
iCal > Preferences > General > Default Calendar and chose the calendar you want to default to.

In SL you can select the event, go to edit > copy then click on another calendar date and do an edit >paste and click on a third calendar and paste it again if you wish.

Every single event in my calendar has 2 default reminders, how do I change that?

As said in the title - every single event in my calendar has 2 default reminders (not just birthdays and all-day events), how do I change that? The reminders are one by notification and one by email... It's fairly annoying please help (The Preferences don't seem to address this issue)

Question. Does this disable all email alerts? Or does it merely stop overriding the Calendar email alerts that are set?
Your answer gives me hope that I can stop unwanted alerts and enable manual alerts only.

Calendar events duplicated to a different calendar

Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange issue which occurred only today. I have several calendars, all events from one calendar has duplicated to a different calendar category. This has occured across 5 iPhones / iPads and also on my iMac. When I login to iCloud online the duplications aren't there. I've tried switching off iCloud calendar from each device and deleting all events. When I switch on iCloud calendar, I get the same duplicated events. I can't understand how or why it happened. Anyone experience the same issue?

Currently there's no such method to make the event sent to new members automatically.
We need to send the event at regular intervals, choose Send updates only to added or deleted attendees when sending update.

ApplesScript needed to copy iCal event and move into different calendar

I hope someone can help with this request.
For starters, I'm clueless on AppleScript and don't have the time or energy to learn it.
I am looking for a script that will copy an event in one calendar and move it to my CalDav (Google) calendar - which I intend using as my primary calendar going forward.
My techie friends give me strange looks when I explain how I came to this situation: I have to accept Outlook meeting invitations in Entourage to avoid the problem of events showing up 2 hours early (or late - can't remember which) in iCal. I have iCal and Entourage synced, with the events being pushed to iCal in a calendar named 'Entourage'.
I would like any 'Entourage' events to be copied and moved to my Google calendar, after which it syncs with the cloud.
Any assistance or advice?

There's a strong element of irony in coming across a solution after doing a search on 'Entourage' and 'Google Calendar' syncing.

The nice thing is you can choose which of your iCal calendars to sync.
I use Entourage to accept meeting requests - iCal used to have trouble with time zones in meeting requests sent from Outlook - so have used the work-around of accepting in Entourage, and syncing it with iCal. This syncing process creates a separate calendar in iCal.
In theory, I could simply use that as my primary calendar - which I haven't thus far, but may well do.
As the synched Google Calendar shows up in iCal, you do end up with duplications showing if you have all calendars visible. So all I've done is hide the visibility of the Entourage calendar (and my other calendars) so that all I see is my GCal.
It's a little clumsy, I'll admit, but it does the job. Which is all a little too Microsoft-ish for my liking
