Change family shareplan

I have the AC family shareplan with 700 and two phone lines. i would like to change my family shareplan to 1400 and add a line so that would be 3 phones sharing 1400 . Would it be cheaped to go with talk or talk&text plan . My daughter has a pay as you go phone (t-moblie) and it seems that we are buying her a call for the phone alot. She texts alot so would 1400familyplan talk & text be a good plan or advice for the best family share plan that is going to not cost that much  and if I change my plan and add a line could I use the phone she has or buy one from verizon.

Your America's Choice plan is an older "grandfathered" plan.  If you need more then 700 minutes, you will HAVE to move to one of the current Talk or Talk & Text plans, and you will lose your ability to switch back to the AC plan.  This is how it works with all grandfathered plans, you can keep them as long as you stay with them, but once you switch away, they are gone.
It's impossible to say what the best plan will be unless we know your usage.  Now would be a good time to log in to MyVerizon and view your usage for the past few months, you should also look at your daughter's account to see how many minutes/texts she is using.  If you can give us an idea of what your needs are, we can suggest a plan, or you can call in to Verizon and have them walk through your options with you.
T-Mobile phones used GSM technology, and Verizon phones are CDMA, so you will not be able to use her current phone on Verizon.  When you add her line to your Family Plan, you will have the option of signing a new contract and getting a subsidized phone for her at that time.

  • Family shareplan upgrade

I have 5 lines on a family shareplan. The main number contract expires in 8/11. Theother 4 lines expire before that. One line is eligible for an upgrade now but I do not want to lock in to another 2 years because of the mandatory data plan which we do not use. I am thinking of waiting until 8/11 and switching servicer. However, my daughters env2 is acting up -dropped calls, shutting off, not sending messages etc and I would like to change that phone. If I obtain a phone on my own and activate it, will I be subject to the mandatory data plan or is it phone dependent ie activate another env2 vs an env3 ? Any other options anybody can think of?
    Thank you

You can swap a phone you either purchase at full retail price or from a source other than Verizon at any time without affecting your contract.
The mandatory data "feature" is indeed dependent on the type of phone.  Since the enV3, with what Verizon claims are amazing web use capabilities, is a "3GMM" phone, it will require a data plan if you activate it.  An enV2, however, since it was released before January 18, 2010, will not require a data plan.

  • Add smartphone to America's Choice Family SharePlan?

I'm currently one of three members of an America's Choice Family SharePlan 700 that has gone off-contract.  All lines are currently basic phones.
I'd like to upgrade my line to a subsidized smartphone.  The other members will probably want to wait.
What are my options in terms of the plan, and what's the most cost-effective, assuming that I only need 2 GB of data?  I assume I can either add data to my line or convert to a Share Everything plan?  How would the costs compare?
Also, is there a possible issue of flexibility?  We may want to add a fourth line to the plan, and other members may also want to upgrade to smartphones within the next year or so.
    Thanks for any advice.

Those plans went a way a long time ago. So I'm not sure what changes you can make on them if any. What exactly do you have on that plan and what are the costs not counting taxes, fees etc.
A Share Everything plan with 2 basic phones and 1 smartphone with 2 GB data would be $160 not counting taxes and fees or taking into account any employee discount you may have, if any. Converting those 2 basic phones into smartphone would be $10 per phone per month extra. Any data you may want to add would be $10 per 2 GB though you are not required to add any. Adding a 4th line would be $30 for a basic phone or $40 a month for a smart phone. Once again you can add data or not add data.
On old plans data plans are mandatory for each smartphone and those are a minimum of $30 a month and give you 2 GB.

  • Changing family plan

I am in a family plan of 5 family members which is under my sisters name. Our contract is already up except for the 5 line. My question is i would like to have my own family plan with only 2 lines and keep the same numbers. However my credit is fair, would that interfere with me getting my own family plan? and/or would i have to pay a fee?

You'll need to do an assumption of liability to take over responsibility for paying for those two numbers.  You don't need to sign a contract, but you do need to visit a store or call in with the account owner present so they can authorize transferring the lines to you.  There are no fees for doing the AoL.
Verizon will do a credit check and if your credit does not meet their standards, you may need to put down a deposit.  This is generally refunded after 1 year of on-time payments.

  • Demote Organizer? / Change Family Membership?

Hi, I've been struggling with Family Sharing for a few days and have run into some issues - one being that I have a @me.com Family Sharing member who is the "Organizer" of the family. So I thought that I could share that account's 200GB of storage with other family members for iCloud backup, etc. Seems that is not the case (please tell me I'm wrong).
So I was hoping that I could "promote" my account to be the master of the family and then I'd free a user seeing as the @me address really isn't going to be of any use to me.
Also, it would be great if there were some automatic way of syncing our photo streams with
    Possible? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Try to give it a positive spin. It works better. Like for example if I was reading complain with I do not want to pay for storage is one thing. If I red - one of the wonderful sharing features besides family album that is created automatically and allows to create family photo album and share, what they want to share - it also would make sense to only purchase storage to one account instead of managing storage on multiple accounts.

  • Alltel Smartpack vs. Verizon Family Shareplan

Anyone know what the difference is?
Currently on a SmartPack 1200, and i have my account set to upgrade to the 2000 next billing cycle. Went to Best Buy tonight to look at the incredible 2 for $1, and they were going to force us to switch to the SharePlan 2000. We would keep our unlimited data, but would switch to the verizon plan instead of alltel.
Anyone know the difference? Pricing seemed about the same I believe. I just don't want to switch to find out we're going to lose some of the old school fringe alltel benefits, etc.

I would think the big difference would be price. What is the base rate for the plan you are on?
VZW 2000 $99.98 for 2 lines (Without messaging and data)
Nights and weekends will be 9pm vz 7pm with the Alltel plan.
You get 10 F&F with the 2000 plan. I am wondering if you have more with the plan you have now. I have the 500 Smartpack plan from Alltel and I have 12 F&F.
One thing with going with a 3rd party reseller, they can not in most cases not keep you on an Alltel plan and VZW will not switch ya back as once an Alltel plan is off the account, it can not be put back.
You will need to determine if the money saved on the phones will offset the price difference of the plans.

  • Changing account ownership?

Is it possible for me to change ownership of my account to wife?  Can anyone tell me about this process?  Can it be done online?  I do have her specfied as authorized person who can make account changes.  However Verizon has an arrangement with her employer to offer certain discounts on employee's personal plans, and this seems to only work if she is the actual account owner.  Furthermore, she can then deal with all her own problems related to her phone and plan instead of making them my problems!  Thanks in advance.

Here is guidance from verizon support:
What are the requirements for transferring my account to a friend or family member?
This is a process known as Assumption of Liability (AOL). In order to perform an AOL, all of the following requirements must be met:
    Current Account Owner
You must ensure that the balance on the account you want to transfer is current. You will continue to be responsible for account charges until the transfer has been completed.
If the line you are transferring is the primary line on a Family SharePlan® or the only secondary line on a Family SharePlan, the remaining line(s) must be placed on eligible calling plans prior to processing the account transfer. Please contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 for assistance.
You must contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 to authorize the account transfer and provide the name of the person who will be taking over the account.
New Account Owner (person taking over responsibility for the account)
You must read and agree to the Verizon Wireless Customer Agreement Terms and Conditions prior to assuming responsibility for the account.
If the line you are taking over is being added to an existing Verizon Wireless account, your account must be current.
If you agree to the Customer Agreement Terms and Conditions, and up to a one-year contract term, you must contact the Assumption of Liability Department at (888) 832-4540. A representative will assist you with completing the AOL request.
Note: Your service assumption will be subject to a credit check. You may be required to switch to current pricing and promotions. A security deposit may also be required.

  • Family Plan Upgrade

I currently have a droid and I will be adding a line and upgrading to a family shareplan. I currently can not get a new phone on my exsisiting plan but does this reset when i upgrade to a family shareplan? I really would like to get a droid x.

The contract dates for your current line will be unaffected by the addition of another line to your plan and your change to a Family share plan.
The new line will be able to purchase a phone at subsidized pricing, but your line's upgrade eligibility date will remain the same.

  • Using iphone 5 as hotspot with family share plan?

I have been on a AC FAMILY SHAREPLAN 700 (which is no longer available) and just upgraded to an iphone from a flipphone last week.  At that time, I selected the 4G plan that allows me to use my iphone as a hotspot and a 1000 text plan.  The plan to enable hotspot cost more than just a standard data plan.  I just looked and this applies only to my line, not the other family lines.  So if I switch to the "4 GB Shared Data - Unlimited Talk & Text Share everything across all your devices." do I lose the hotspot capability for my iphone?  There is no plan option that calls out hotspot when I try to switch it online.  Thanks.

The Share Everything Plans include the mobile hotspot feature for all the lines on that account.  The data is shared between all the lines too.

  • Question about family base and 911 notification of both parents

There used to be more flexibility for notifications.  I called Verizon and they confirmed we lost some functionality.  I used to have notifications sent to my wife, but now they only go to the primary account holder.  This was changed in the past week.  I used to get the phone number in data usage alerts (phone number ##### reached it's limit), but now it doesn't tell me who reached the limit.  You have to login to the website to find out.  Even more frustrating was the notification that said one of my lines dialed 911.  It didn't tell me who, and I just pictured one of my family members in a terrible accident and the notification wouldn't tell me who it was.  When I called Verizon and said I needed to know, they wanted to teach me how to find it on the website instead if helping me in my emergency.  The bottom line is everyone needs to call Verizon to get this functionality back.  I agree you have at least the option of notifying any/all account owners.

  • Having a problem with family share... it's telling me I can not add my daughter for a year!!!??? this is bullcrap n I need help to be able to add her... does any one have any ideas?

needing help with family share that isn't allowing me to add my daughter for a year!!!

That happens because there is a restriction from changing family groups more than twice per year.  Unfortunately, a number of people have inadvertently triggered this in the process of setting up Family Sharing.  There isn't anything you can do about it on your own; all you can do is contact Apple support to see if they would override this at their end.

  • Add Current Indv Plan to New Family Share Plan

I am currently under a 2yr an Individual 450 min plan contract, that expires in about 8 months (11/10/11); my mother is planning on porting her Sprint number to VZW with her company's discount. I cannot just add lines to my account as I do not qualify for her discount, so we would like to create a 2yr 700min talk & text family plan with her number being the primary account, my number as a second line, and another Sprint number as the third line.
Will I be charged an Early Termination Fee to move my individual plan number to this family plan? And will I be able to upgrade to a new phone with the 2yr plan price, in turn extending my plan another two years? Or will I need to wait til my plan expires to join this family plan with a new phone, in order to avoid paying full retail price?
The primary number (Mom), and myself would each like to get the iPhone or similar 3g smart phone, where as the third line will be a basic, non-smart, non-data plan, phone.
    Thanks for any insight!

Thank you lewisr13 for your reply, the information is correct.  I have some additional information about our AOL (Assumption of Liability) program that should also help with merging accounts.   You will not be billed for any Early Termination fees when your line is assumed by another person. You do not have to wait until your contract expires.   Your upgrade date will remain the same, however if you become a secondary line on the new account, you will loose your New Every Two discount.
Everything you need to know for transferring a line
Existing account owner requirements to complete assumption of liability:

This must be completed prior to processing the Assumption of Liability.
    5. Forward this Assumption of Liability email to the new assuming customer.
    6. You must contact Customer Service at 1-800-922-0204 to authorize the account transfer with the name of the new assuming customer.
New customer's requirements to assume liability for someone else's line of service:
    1. Review the Verizon Wireless Customer Agreement Terms and Conditions prior to assuming the account.

A representative will assist you with completing the Assumption of Liability request. Your service assumption will be subject to a credit check. You may also be required to switch to current pricing and promotions. Note: A security deposit may be required. If you are adding this line to an existing Verizon Wireless account, your account must be current.

  • Best Text Package for Family Plan

I recently added the 250 text to my phone on a family plan with three phones. We would like to add the same package to another line on the plan - is there a better way to do it then paying $10 extra  month for just the two phones? The third user doesn't need texting but wouldn't mind having it if it were possible but just not worth it to pay extra for. help!

Thank you to the Community for all the good feedback and suggestions!

    Nationwide Family SharePlan
The link is titled "Nationwide Family SharePlan", however you can find the Text Messaging options here as well.  The $30 Unlimited Messaging feature would allow for Unlimited Text, Picture and Video Messaging to anyone for all lines shared on the account.

  • Can't apply text packages on outdated plan?

I have the older Family SharePlan 1000 that is no longer offered. VZW allows us to keep this plan until we change it, but I wanted to apply the 1,000/$10 a month texting plan to one of our lines and it won't let me. When I choose the texting option and hit next it says "Please select a new plan for your device". Obviously they want me to change it, but is there any way around this? Or do I simply not get to change this unless we pay extra for a different plan that we don't even need?

Jrowell, that is a great question. I can certainly check your options to see if you are able to add the $10 text package without changing your price plan. I will need to view your account first. Please send me a direct message with your name and mobile number for further assistance.

  • Oh my goodness, can it be true?

I was bored, so I decided to see if I could upgrade my phone without changing my existing ancient "AC FAMILY SHAREPLAN 500", which would make my monthly bill skyrocket by $50.  But, all through out the checkout process, I was not prompted to change my plan?  Though I was told I would have to change my unlimited data to 2GB plan, which I don't mind.  No way, is this true???  Please tell me it is, I will upgrade my phone immediately if my monthly bill will not go up.  Please, please tell me it's true!

The only flag I got was about my unlimited data changes, I made it all the way to the order page without being prompted to upgrade my already existing plan...  I'm too scared to press the order button!  I think I'll just call to make doubly sure my bill won't go up, haha.
