Change folders color labels

Hi, I want to change the color label of folders which contain specified files, eg movs, jpegs. I don´t want to copy or remove files, because folder size is about 140 GB. The biggest group of files is about 50 GB. I mention this, because I think getting specified finder items could be a problem for my little ibook?
Thanks in advance

Also for the bug that iTunes doesn't minimize when I double-click the top edge of the window.
It isn't a bug, it's a feature.
Actually, I kinda like the improvements to the "miniplayer" thing, even though it isn't the same thing as minimizing the app. The only thing I don't like about the miniplayer is the tiny, hard to hit icon used to toggle it on & off, but if I can just remember the Cmd-Option-M shortcut for that I'm OK with that too.
I wouldn't mind filling out a survey before they (Apple) curtained features.
After hanging around ASC for a few years, I have realized that almost everybody has very different ideas about the usefulness of just about every feature Apple has ever implemented. If Apple listened to users, I suspect we would end up with an OS so bloated it wouldn't even be able to crawl, much less run, on most Macs, & the user preferences alone would have so many options nobody could find the ones they wanted without help.
Actually, I think that may already be happening ... but I'm sure everybody has a different opinion about that, too!

  • Since Lion upgrade, can not change the colored label of my HD in the Finder

    ... the "Macintosh HD" icon has the Label section grayed out when I select 'Get Info'.
    I can only change the color of the USB attached disks.
    Also, before the upgrade to Lion, I was able to assign colored labels to the attached network shares, in Snow Leopard; now I can see the label colors I've assigned when using Snow L. by I can not modify then anymore...
    Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the reply.
    Lock was closed. It open after authentication, but the word "Label" is still gray and can not select a color label.

  • Why did Apple change the color labels of folders in 10.9.2?

    What's the purpose of a dot when I can't even see them?
    THE IDEA is to highlight a folder so you can easily find it.
    I'm all for aesthetics but this is a change of practical design. It's annoying.

  • Color Labels in Photoshop

    Does anyone know if there is a way to change color labels WITHIN photoshop? i do NOT mean labelling a layer or group. I mean labelling a FILE within psd that can be read in Bridge/Lightroom. I know I can tag them there, but I would like to be able to open a group of image, retouch them, then add something in a script that changes the color label to, for example, green, so that when it shows in Bridge/Lightroom, it will automatically show the new color tag.
    when you changea color label in Bridge, it has to resave the file completely (which can be an issue with bandwidth for those of us with small servers, not to mention sometime like dropbox or creative cloud which has to constantly upload an entire file each time). If I can add it to the script WITHIN photoshop, it will be a big timesaver too. Same thing with Lightroom - you have to manually SAVE the color tag into the file. I can see it in the File Info of photoshop (it is under ADVANCED).
    And for that matter, is there a way to batch script other functions of the File Info, like changing star ratings? it doesn't seem to let me do that either

    imagine you could use the marquee tool or a selecting-brush to drag or brush over some background elements, weeds in a field, Mountains, Buildings, Skies, etc.. adding the selected colors & patterns to the number of colors & objects to be removed..
    then use the same brush to brush over colors & elements you want to keep, and the values for those colors are stored separately, even if some of the values are the same
    then, you drag a brush around the object you want to remove from the photo, where the object meets the background, which must have a start-point, and an end point which returns to the start point..
    Photoshop then calculates the location of items to keep as inside the closed brush line, and items to disappear as outside that brushed line
    Tolerances can be individually set with an Eye-dropper between a blue shirt sleeve you want to keep, inside the brush mark, and the blue sea, blue car, or blue sky adjacent to that sleeve, outside the brush mark,..
    you can add another combination of "Near Tolerances" by clicking "Add a Near Tolerance", then you select the green shoes inside the line, multi-select add, then click next, and click the green grass outside the region.. also additive multi-select
    Photoshop then remembers the regions, the colors, patterns, and values, and all the other information you gave it (the only real important thing being what happens directly under the brush line you painted around your object, as it will automatically delete everything outside of that), click "Extract" and the object of your desire is removed perfectly

  • Bug in Aperture's Color labels?

    When I select an image and use the main menu to change the color label to nothing, viewing in the list view shows the label as "--" (without the quotes). When I use the sidebar to perform the same operation, the list view shows the label to be "No Label" (with the quotes). This seems inconsistent. Is this a bug?

    Yes, its been around since at least version 3.  While it doesn't cause a lot of problems in Aperture itself if you try to use Applescript to script the labels it causes all sorts of problems.
    I reported it numerous times, keep hoping that one day it will be fixed. You can send feedback to Apple reporting this, see Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback

  • ACL's and color labels...

    The short version: I setup some ACL stuff (that I don't really understand) in order to share some files that previously belonged to only one user. Now I can't change the color labels in Finder.
    The long version:
    I share an iMac at work and recently decided to create my own account to keep my settings separate from the other person's. I tried moving our projects folder, managed fonts folder, iPhoto library, etc. into the Shared user folder, but iPhoto wasn't having it. The original account was fine with the change, but my new account was locked out. So, I found a little tutorial online (link below) about sharing the iPhoto library in the Shared user folder with some Access Control List (ACL) stuff. Anyway, I have everything running smoothly, but I can't seem to change the color labels in Finder. I control+click the folder and all the color label options are "grayed" out; I can't click on them. I was able to set a color label to a new folder, but I can't remove or change the label on an old folder.
    Here's the command I used, followed by a link to the complete tutorial I used:
    sudo chmod +a "UserName allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,\
    addsubdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directoryinherit" \
    /Users/Shared/iPhoto\ Library
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050904072808460&lsrc=osxh
    So.... what's going on and how do I fix it? ; )
    Oh yeah, the iMac is a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OS X 10.4.11

    you need to expand that command a little.
    Try this one
    *sudo chmod -R +a "staff allow list,addfile,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextattr, writeextattr,readsecurity,writesecurity,chown,file_inherit,directoryinherit" path/to/folder*
    as before, instead of path/to/folder put the path to the folder you are doing this to.

  • Close all folders in Mail?  Color Label folders?  Find folder?  And More!

    Hi all.
    I have a LOT of mail. They're all very organized, though. Heaps of Mailboxes (Folders) and Sub-folders.
    I also have heaps of rules dutifully sending incoming mail to their appropriate mailboxes.
    However...
    It has reached a point where one of of the major bottlenecks in my daily workflow is sorting through all these mailboxes.
    There are 5 primary mailboxes with perhaps 100-ish subfolders or sub-subfolders. Maybe more.
    When they are all open, or a lot of them are open, it is difficult to find the a specific folder when I need it. It would help if I could close all open folder with a shortcut.
    Is this possible?
    It would also help if I could visually distinguish each level. Can I color label the mailboxes(not the messages themselves)?
    Another help would be if I could run a search for a folder Mailbox name. Is this possible?
    Lastly when I create a rule I would love it if there was an option to 'Create new Mailbox' in the rule dialog box rather than having to create the mailbox first. Am I just missing this? See link for illustration:
    http://img.skitch.com/20080820-eaqmy89emw6xm5pcj86iuqu992.jpg

    I just had a look and you need to create the mailbox PRIOR to asking the rules to move it into that.
    Now, automator lets you create a new workflow, but not sure as to how to set that one up (might be possible; however, my mathematical brain tells what you want to achieve is flawed:
    1) IF new mail equals "tangerine", create new mailbox tangerine, then move message to mailbox "tangerine. (FINE so far!)
    2) the second "tangerine" message arrives, and the workflow should FAIL (because it cannot create a "new" mailbox "tangerine", as there is ALREADY a mailbox named "tangerine")
    3) if automator cannot execute "If" and "and" and the "sort by" all together, then distinguish (a "tangerine" message might actually need to go to "pear" but refers to "pears and tangerines", so it ends up in the wrong mailbox), you may have to start and restart mail, until all stages of the script have been executed.
    You see the problems?
    Anyhow, here is a link to some automator info:

  • LineChart and -fx-text-fill issue: how do I change the color of the labels

    Hello everyone,
    I'm currently facing an issue when I'm trying to style my LineChart with some CSS. Indeed I would like to change the color of the labels of my xAxis (CategoryAxis) and yAxis (NumberAxis) but it's not working.
    In my FXML file I tried to use the style attribute on my LineChart tag using: <LineChart style="-fx-text-fill: white"> with no result, the text remains black (even for the title of my chart). In order to know if the style attribute is well parsed I changed it to: style="-fx-background-color: red; -fx-text-fill: white;". The background is becoming red but the text still remains black.
    Finally I tried to define a stylesheet in my controller class with the same properties (red background and white text). My stylesheet is this one:
    .chart {
        -fx-text-fill: white;
        -fx-background-color: red;
    }In my controller I do the following line in order to load my CSS file:
    this.chart.getStylesheets().add(getClass().getResource("statistics-style.css").toExternalForm());Even with this option the text remains white, while the background becomes red.
    What I also tried is to put the -fx-text-file CSS property directly on my axises, but again it seems it is ignored.
    I followed the steps described in Figure 8-2 of this site: http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/charts/css-styles.htm
    Does anybody have an idea or encountered this issue?
    Thank you very much,
    Thierry.
    PS: I'm using JFX 2.1 on MacOS X

    Hi,
    I figured a solution out to solve my problem. Currently in the documentation it is said to redefine the .chart CSS class in order to change the color of the title and labels text. But this is not working. Strangely the following code changes the font-size of both title and labels but ignores the -fx-text-fill property:
    .chart {
      -fx-font-size: 20pt;
      -fx-text-fill: white;
    }In order to change the color of the title I override the .chart-title CSS class:
    .chart-title {
      -fx-text-fill: white;
    }And for the labels:
    .axis-label {
      -fx-text-fill: white;
    }Well I don't know if there still is a bug on the .chart CSS class or maybe that behavior is expected.

  • How can I change the color of interactive image label box background.

    Interactive image labels are a bit overwhelming in appearance. Can I change the label background color or make it partially transparent? I have tried several things and looked this up on Lynda.com training but no info.

    don't know how much this might help but you can change some colors using the Inspector as follows:
    from the text menu you can control paragraph and character colors, from the text menu you can control the text color.
    hope this helps...

  • How can I change the color of all folders from light blue to another color?

    My computer was just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, and now all the file folder icons are pale blue on the desktop and elsewhere. My desktop is green and those light blue folders do not look good on a green background.
    How can I change the color of the folder icons to another color?

    Hi ys,
    You appear to have taken a wrong turn on the information highway and would up in the backwater known as the AppleWorks forum. This is a place for discussion of issues and techniques connected with the now discontinued Apple productivity application AppleWorks.
    Yours is a System question, concerned with how to accomplish something in the Finder, part of the Mac OS X software you recently upgraded. The question will be better served in the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard section of discussions. The link will take you to that section, where I'd suggest using the Finder and Dock forum.

    Barry

  • Need to change individual data label colors

    I have a percent bar chart that reads all from one column. This seems like it should be simple for crystal reports to do but I can't find it anywhere. I need to be able to change the color of the individual percentage data labels that show up. When I click on the data label and go to  change the color it changes the color for all data labels in the chart, not just the data label for that series.

    hello,
    unfortunately there is no conditional formatting on data labels...they will always be one colour.
    however, if you know that there will always be the same number of bars in your chart and you have a bit of time for a workaround you can always place a cross-tab on top of the chart...see the attached. you can dynamically colour the labels, backgrounds, etc. as this is a cross-tab but you can't change the positioning of the label.
