Change font in a PDF document

Hi there!
I would like to change the font on a PDF document 'cause I have to take out some parts of it (copy into a .doc or similar)
The problem is when I do it, the original font is not recognized by text processor (stranges symbols appear).
I´m trying to change the font in Adobe Acrobat Pro, but I can´t edit It; the programm says that (not exactly, ´cause its in Spanish)
"The font change has not be done because the chosen font and the document´s fonts codification are different and It cant be solved."
Clicking on pdf´s properties, I see these fonts:
R11
R277
R677
All them are "personalize" codification and type 3.
I hope some in this forum could help me, ´cause I really need to extract some text of this PDF for work stuff.
Thank you, and sorry about my bad english...

I see where you can see fonts in Acrobat 9 Pro under Document Properties.  But the poster was trying to help guide you in the right direction.  Don't be malicious towards people who are here to HELP you.
try reading this document:

and especially this one from adobe's knowledgebase:

hope that helps.

  • How do I solve font changes when downloading a PDF document?

When downloading some PDF documents, the font changes.  I have tried several troubleshooting solutions, but my issue was not solved.  What can I do to prevent this from happening or if it does, to remedy the problem?

Yes, Ajlan, thank you. I solved the issue by opening PDF documents of unwanted fonts with another PDF document reader.  When I open my files folder, there is an option (drop down box) at the top that allows for me to choose from either Adobe Reader or PDF Vista.  It may have been there all along; I just didn't notice it until I recently had this issue.
    Take care :-)

  • How do I change font in the whole document at the same time?

How do I change font in the whole document at the same time?

Menu > View > Show Styles Drawer
Menu > Help > Pages User Guide
Download and read page 27 on creating and using Styles, which is done largely by example ie you make the text what you want then save it as a Style to be applied wherever you want in the document from the Styles Drawer.

  • Particular font for entire pdf document

Can i set a particular font for entire pdf document while designing pdf forms in LiveCycle Designer ES?
    How can i do it?

Each object has its own settings for font. You can set the object to the font that you want and then drag it back onto the palette. It will ask you to overwrite the current one. As you drag the object back into the drawing area the new font will be used. This is true aof all properties of the object and not just font.
This is useful if you are creating a new form, but if one already exists then the easiest way is to open the XML source (right mouse click on the Design tab and choose XML source. Use the search facility to find all occurances of typeface and chnage each one to the font that you want. Save the XML and then all objects will have the same font.
Make sure that you make a backup of th eform before you play with the XML. There is no undo once the cahnges are committed.

  • Font in all PDF documents is wingdings - in all readers

    Hi,
No matter what PDF reader I use and no matter what PDF document I use, this is what the PDF file looks like:
    http://i.imgur.com/XppSj.png
This happens in all PDF readers EXCEPT for xpdf, leading me to believe that for some reason poppler is creating some issues and is using wingdings for some reason. I tried reinstalling it, but nothing. I tried installing the ttf-ms-fonts (and relevant packages), nothing. For the record, the PDF is not in cyrillic, and I did even try changing the locale back to en_US.UTF-8. I also do have poppler-data installed.
I also tried other documents (such as those from Google Analytics), the problem persists.
    Help?

No, I have not. Firefox text & font options are default. Driver-wise, yes, this is up to date. I should note that in the case of Google Spreadsheets, the text appears briefly before disappearing.
This would have led me to believe it was one of my addons, but the safe mode test dismissed that idea.

    Hi,
we don´t have many options for setting the font type and size in an ABAP list. One option is that you print the output using either SmartForms or AdobeForms, where you can control font type as well as size. This one requires additional work.
Another option is to use the instruction Print-Control:
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 1 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 1 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 5.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 5'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 2 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 2 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.

  • Can I embed fonts in a pdf document?

I wish to publish a Pages document and to do this I need to convert it to pdf and ensure that my fonts can be embedded into the pdf document. I am not sure how to proceed. How do you embed fonts in PDF from Pages 4.1?

Preview does a nice job of embedding fonts. You can open a pdf with non-embedded fonts in Preview and then print->save as pdf creates one with fonts embedded. I had seen this in MacOSX Hints originally and it works for me.
For seeing what fonts are embedded (or not), pdffonts is a very nice utility, which i think now comes with poppler, or you can build from their git.

  • How do you change default settings for Pdf document viewing?

Somehow the default setting for all my PDF documents and photos is now ColorSync. How do I change the main default setting, which I think should be Safari?

The default is Preview, and you change it thus:
Select a pdf file, rightclick and select 'Get Info', in the pane that opens scroll down to the section marked 'Open With', select Preview and check the box to 'Change All'

  • How do i change a 2 page pdf document, to be a 4 page flyer..

    hi
ill try to explain this as clearly as i can.
i have got a 2 page pdf document, that has data on both sides.
i need it to be 4 A5 pages at the front and back, so it folds neatly together.
so currently it prints like an duplex A4 page, and i just wondering how i can change it to be more like the flyer i have in mind.
    hope that makes sense..
    Im using acrobat 9 pro
    Thanks
    damien

You may have to crop pages to get the effect that you want. If you have the original, it would probably be easier to edit that and create a new PDF.

  • AppleScript to batch change 'Initial View' of PDF Documents Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi
I'm struggling to write a script that takes a bunch of PDF documents and opens
those in Acrobat 9 Pro. Changes the Inital View settings (ie. Page layout = Single Page and Magnification = Fit Page)
    and saves the changes.
Is this possible with Acrobat and AppleScript?
Is there an AppleScript Reference for Acrobat?
    Appreciate your help.
    Cheers,
    Alex

Well, it says Acropbat Scripting ... didn't appear to me as Windows only.
Will move it to the Mac Forum.
    Thanks.

  • Incorrect font display in pdf document(web view)

    Adobe helpers,
I am encountering a  very peculiar problem with incorrect display of fonts in pdf documents when viewed in a web browser. Briefly, the problem typically affects  the first page of a pdf document, the font being displayed as an unidentified mix of large and very small, skinny type.  Other pages may or may not be affected, and if one back-clicks to the previous page the text often displays the correct font, so the problem is in some (but not all) cases non-persistent.  The problem however is resolved completely if I uncheck the 'display pdf in browser' option  under edit>preferences in adobe reader. Fonts I use include Arial, Cambria, Franklin Gothic Book, and Garamond; as straight-up pdfs, the documents look fine. FYI, I have Adobe reader X 10.0.1 (Win 7) and 9.0 (Win XP sp3) installed on two different machines. Firefox 3.6 and IE9 are equally at fault. FWIW, all the pdf documents begin life as MS Word or Publisher 2010 documents, which are converted to pdf within these applications before publishing to web.   Since I can't control how people choose to view web pdfs, I'm concerned that display of the prone documents is impaired when viewed in a web browser.
Not sure if this is a reader, browser, or distiller problem but this seems a logical place to start looking for answers. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

I've also had problems printing with Reader X.
When printing an attachment from an email in Outlook, if I don't open the attachment first, sometimes it doesn't print correctly as everything shows with the following number or letter. Example 12345 will print as "23456" and invoice will show as "jowpjdf". Even if I open the attachment, sometimes it will print the first page ok, but the next pages will "mppl mjlf uijt".
Never had this problem with previous versions.

  • Change font in a PDF file

  • Change language of a pdf document

i download a pdf document and it is in french , does anyone know if i can change it in english?
    is possible?
    thanks

    Bausch,
There are a few issues here. First, I can't find a simple way to get text from a PDF with Automator. There are some scripts that could be used to do this, I'm sure. But if it's just one PDF you want to translate, double click on the PDF to open it in Preview, Apple-A to select all text, Apple-C to copy it. Open a new TexteditDoc, Apple-V to paste. Save the document.
Apple has created a translator action, but I've had no luck in getting it to work:
    http://www.automatorworld.com/archives/translate-text/
Download it and import the action into Automator. Your workflow would be:
Get Selected Finder Items (Choose the TextEdit Doc with the pasted text in it.)
    Open Selected Finder Items
    Get Contents of TextEdit Document
Translate Text (This will be in the TextEdit Library. Set to French>English or )
    New TextEdit Document
No guarantees this will work, but it's worth a try. It it were, you could set another translate action to English>Spanish, but I think a lot would be lost in translation.

  • BEx broadcasting: Font types in pdf-documents

    Hi folks,
I got a report designed in BEx report designer. In this report I use certain font types. However, when I broadcast this report to our SAP Netweaver Portal as pdf these font types get lost, i.e. the texts in the generated pdf-documents are in other fonts. Do I have to install these fonts on our system? If so, how can this be done? Where can I see the current standard fonts on our system?
    Thanks in advance!
    Thomas

    Dear Thomas,
After creating a report in Report Designer, just go to Report->Execute.
This will open that report in Web Analyzer.Just check whether your font types are shown as you configured in the report.
If this works as expected, then you will get a report with configured fonts, after you broadcasted into portal.
Make sure that you made teh following settings for the report while broadcasting
Distribution Type : Broadcast to the Portal
    Output Format : PDF
    Under "General Precalculation" tab,
    Portal Theme: SAP Standard
    Proper "Layout" tab options.
    Hope this will help you.
Please revert me in case of any clarifications.

  • How to change Font Encoding in PDF?

    Hi,
We are creating PS file using 3B2 software and converting PS to PDF using Adobe Distiller 5.0 or 7.0 or 9.0.
In the created PDF some font are encoded in ANSI and Custom and also Roman, but I want font must be In ANSI encoding.
How can I convert Custom encoding into ANSI?
Do Installation want to change any thing in PS file? Or there is any way to convert Custom encoding into ANSI?
    Regards
    Thirusanguraja Venkatesan

It is not practical to do this. No tools exist because no developer would consider it necessary (all PDF tools must handle custom encodings). In the case you quote it is not even possible, because the font (math symbols) is not ASCII but symbolic.
Why do you want to achieve this? Perhaps we can suggest an alternative resolution.
