  I dont know how I ended up with a username that advertises both my name and city of residence (I would never choose such a name if I knew it would be posted publicly), but for privacy reasons I'd like to set my forum username to something that isn't so personal. Searching the forums has led me to believe that there is no way for users to do this, but that mods might be able to assist me. How can I contact a moderator to request a change of username?

  Out of curiosity:
  You and a couple of other posters have stated that your username is your full name?
  No one here sees anything but - in this case: cc453 - your username. Your Apple ID (which is your email address) is visible only to you unless you wish to reveal it. If you click on your name/avatar, you can choose 'edit profile and privacy'.
  This will show you this:
  This info is necessary for Apple to be able to identify you as you.
  If you will then choose Privacy Settings, you can choose to display as much or as little info you you want:
  For instance, I've chosen not to reveal anything; in that case, the only thing showing is my username which is displayed. My full name/email are only displayed to myself and Apple.

• Allow change of forum username

  Hi There,
  This isn't a critical issue but I think it would be easily solved.
  I initially signed up with my full name as my forum username, now I don't like my full name anymore 8-)
  I administer a couple of phpBB forums myself and I know it's possible to enable the ability of the user to change their username in the profiles window.
  I know, I could just start a new user, but it's taken me since the summer of 2003 to accumulate the meager number of posts to my credit and I really don't want to start over. Plus, I've had this user around for a year and a half now and I don't really want to reset that clock either. (aren't computer geeks anal retentive 8-)
  Like I said, I know this isn't earth shattering, but it is really easy to allow users to change their usernames in phpBB and even if the board admin could enable it long enough for me to change my name and then disable it again, I'd be very VERY happy (OK, I'm easily pleased 8-)
  Unless there's a specific reason the arch forums don't allow this, Could y'all please turn it on?

  I always thought the username acted as a key in the database, which would make it hard to modify.... that's why they have to be unique? I haven't looked at phpBB code, so I'll take your word for it...
  If its really not that hard, I'm sure you could PM apeiro and ask him to change your name for you. If you explain how to do it and how its not that difficult and act extremely polite, he may even do it.  However, he's a very busy man and it won't be high on his priority list.

• Change Adobe Forums Username

  Hello,
  I recently setup an Adobe ID and created a username for the forums. Because of a bug in the site or my browser, the page kept saying that the user ID I wanted was taken. I kept trying increasingly absurd names and it kept saying the name was unavailable. I gave up and left. When I came back, it looks like one of them stuck - this one... adbahsdaskashdh or whatever it is. Very comical, I know.
  I would like to change it to CassidyBowlCut. However, the place to change your username in the My Adobe panel does not work correctly. I update the name and nothing happens.
  Can an admin or moderator please change my adobe ID to CassidyBowlCut? My email is [removed]

  Hi,
  This should be asking you only the password not the username as you have confired with wpa-psk. What client device are you testing this with? If this is wondows machine please choose your sececurity as WPA-Personal on the wireless profile and then it would asked for the Security Key..You will have to enter your password there. The password from the configuration i can see it as cisco.

  I've been using this forum for years...and I never realized how stupid my username was, I don't even know how it became this in the first place. I think I was under the impression that this was a "header" or something I would see in my profile (you know...for fun!) Now I look like an idiot, lol.

  I'm sorry, but the Apple moderators will only change a username in the instance that some personal information is revealed. Users have the option to choose their name when signing up for the forums, which is why it is recommended to choose one that you may not later regret. I understand your situation is a bit different, but the rule for changing usernames still stands.

  Well, 'reb', that's my initials. For initials they're not that bad, but it's not cool to have initials as a username. By the way, in mailing lists, irc and aur I always call myself filoktetes.
  I'm not one to post every half hour, but I do post occationally, when I think I have something useful to say. So, I think it would be nice to have the same name everywhere.

• Just created a Firefox support account using my e-mail address as the username. Did not know that this would show up when I asked questions. Can I change my username? If not can I delete my account and start again.

  Since you have used your old Display name, it'll always show your email address in the forum for this question. When you post another question in the future, it should show your Display name instead.
  As I said, User Name is to be used to log into your forum account, the Display Name is what it'll be shown when you post in this forum. You can try to post a test in the forum to see if your Display Name is being shown or not.

  Hi Not Really lars322!
  Although you can't change the Alias of the account you are using, you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
  You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
  You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
  But your Level(2), Points(330), Total Posts(360), Total Posts Online(86) and Registered Date(3/9/05), will not be transferred.
  In the new account, your Post Counts, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
  Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old Alias.
  After you quit using the old account, those posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 1 to 3 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
  The Topics that you started using the old account, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
  If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
  Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
  Restrict by Date Range: All
  Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
  all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
  To create a new account,
  Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.
  -How Do I Create My Account?
  If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
  -To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page.   If you are talking about these forums, then no, you cannot change your name - the hosts will only make an exception if there is a security issue. But, since you've not accumulated any points, simply stop using this one and create another one.
