Change from ios7 back to ios6

Is it possible to ditch iOS7.0, and revert back to iOS6. The new 7 software update is bland and a step backwards, what nonsense from apple...

tigerstripedogs I have answered a couple of posts with similar subjects with the following:
I too am very dissapointed in iOS7 design, to be honest I just upgraded as I trusted Apple on things like this but never will I again... OMG what has happened?
Unfortunatley I too could not find a way of going back to iOS6 without actually buying a new phone with it already installed... which I have no intention of doing. The only thing it seems you can do is what I did and give your feedback to Apple, I couldn't find a feedback for iOS 7!!!! so I sent my for the iPhone and gave it a subject of 'iOS7 design on iPhone'.
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
In all honestly I don't think Apple actually listen to much of what we users think although I did send my feedback and I am hoping Apple will waken up to their massive mistake when sales start dropping because of this what seems badly thought through design.

  • How do I go back into my registry and change a number for loading apps and websites from 20 back to ten?

I tried something suggested from a friend who said to go to a spot in my registry and change a number from 10 to 20, and this would help apps to load better, giving them more time. But now nothing will load because there is to much time taken. I need to find that segment of the registry and change the number back. When I went there, a little box popped up and said, "I will be careful I promise. "

I did the resetting preferences, still no help, still cannot play flash games on facebook like Indiana Jones, Cityville, and Pioneerville. I wish I could go back and change that number I changed from 20 back to 10. I would be playing right now.

  • Don't like ios7, can I change back to ios6?.

can I change back to ios6 from ios7?

Yes, if you buy a phone that is using iOS 6. You can't downgrade a phone that is using iOS 7.

  • How to roll back iphone4 from ios7 to ios6?

When I updated my iPhone4 to iOS7, my camera's picture quality became very poor.
Is this due to iOS7?  If so, is there any way to roll back to iOS6?

    You can't
Apple has never approved a method to downgrade iOS

  • I have just updated to iOS7, no icon for browser, was using Safari, how do I get it back and can I reverse the upgrade and go back to iOS6?

I have just updated to iOS7, no icon for browser, was using Safari, how do I get it back and can I reverse the upgrade and go back to iOS6?  Thanks to you from the UnTechie

The icon for Safari has probably moved to make room for new apps. Scroll the Home screen to look for it.
    You cannot reverse the upgrade.

  • I recently updated my Iphone 5s to ios8 from ios7(.something) and lost all photos, text messages, etc. and then restored it using an old Icloud backup from 2014. I want to change the Icloud backup to one from this year.

Is it possible to do this, and how? My iphone 5s is still restoring currently in the Backup settings and there's an option that says "Stop restoring Iphone" if I tap it, it says "any data that has not been downloaded will not be restored or backed up in the future"... AND I KNOW that if I update my iphone from ios7 to ios8 that it is a big jump and is the reason why I lost everything on it. So please don't tell me that is the answer to my question, because it's not. I am clearly asking if I can change the icloud backup date from 2014 to one from this year. This is because my iphone asked me which backup I want to use to restore my stuff from after the ios8 update. I hope this question isn't too confusing!!

Might be a better idea to look for more current threads that this one which is over a year old.

  • Is there any way I can get back to ios6 on my iPad? The new ios7 is a major disappointment, especially visually, and would love to "downgrade" back to ios6. Any advice how to do this?

Is there any way to downgrade back to ios6 from the new ios7? I made a major mistake in downloading the new operating system. It is a major disappointment, particularly visually, and would love to get back to the more user friendly ios6 on my iPad. Last time I experienced a similar disappointment was when I tested the new Microsoft 8. In that case I was luckily able to stick to the previous operating system.

Thanks. Pitty, seems like Apple suddenly created more competition for itself. The edge is gone and Apple is also now into "art for art's sake".

  • How to restore an ios7 back up to a replacement with ios6?

The battery burst on my 5th gen iPod touch. The replacement comes with ios6, which will not allow me to restore from an ios7 back up. When I set it up as a new iPod, it will not give the option to restore that back up I had made, seems to have already decided it is a registered as a different iPod. But it did let me restore from a 4th gen iPod I have, but that does not help me.

All you can do is try to "extract" data from the iPod backup that iTunes made of the 5G iPod.

  • Can i downgrade from ios7 to ios6 on iphone4

HELP!!  I recently updated my iphone4 to ios7 and now my phone is really slow!!!!! is there anyway i can downgrade back to ios6?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • I changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

i changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

In your case you can only restore from a backup that has been created with the same iOS version. An iPhone 4 can only run 7.1.2, and, unless your iPhone 5 did not run the same version, you can't use a newer iOS backup of the 5 on the iPhone 4

  • I recently updated my iPhone 4s to ios6, and lost 1200 odd contacts. I have a backup from about 4-5 months ago avaiable.  Can I add/update contacts from the back up rather than restore which i assume will literally delete any new contacts added...?

I recently updated my iPhone 4s to ios6, and lost 1200 odd contacts. I recently sold my macbook air and also my mac book pro, so have no recent backups avaiable.  I have a backup from about 4-5 months ago available on an external hdd as a time machine backup.  Can I add/update contacts from the back up rather than restore?  The reason i wish to do this is because in the update i didnt lose any messages, so all of the people i have met and networked with since that last update those many months ago, i have in my messages listings.  They are all unidentified numbers at present but over time i will be able to work through the messages and based on the conversation recall who each was with.  Also, yesterday, some two weeks after the update had left my contacts list entirely empty... a vast majority just reappeard, though all of them are without any phone numbers, all just emails or facebook contacts.  This is the work of facebook not mac/ios6 isnt it...?  Any help here would be greatly apprecaited.  I am about 2 days from flying to canada and having those contacts would make life a lot easier.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup.  If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup.  You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone.  However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.
