Change from ipod to another

If I buy a new touch Ipod for my wife will she be able to switch all her stuff from her classic pod to the new one?

If all of her songs are in iTunes then you'll be able to add them to the Touch, as already mentioned just follow the on screen instructions when the new iPod is connected. If the songs are not in iTunes they cannot be transferred directly from one iPod to another, they need to be copied back to the computer and the new iPod updated from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

SharePod Windows Only
iPodRip Mac & Windows
YamiPod Mac and Windows

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Business area changes from one to another which results error in MIRO

    Hi Experts,
I am creating an incoming invoice in tcode MIRO and it upon saving, the business area changes from one to another and this results to an error which displays, "Balancing field 'Profit Center' in line item 001 not filled."
What is weird is that this error will be avoided if I enter the the business area in the invoice header details. But the line item will be posted to the second business area that I entered which is incorrect because this should be posted in the first business area.
I already checked the configurations and have no idea what to do next.
I hope you could help me solve this issue because this is crucial to our client.
Thanks so much in advance and for your support,
    Larissa

    Hi Gaurav,
Thanks! I found out that there is a profit center derivation exit that makes the posting incorrect.
    Thanks again.

  • I have to select a file – get Info – and change – open with and change from preview to another program and CHANGE ALL everytime I boot up

Why do I have to select a file – get Info – select – open with – and change from Preview to another program and click CHANGE ALL with every file extention everytime I boot up.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • How to sync from iPod to another IPod Shuffle

Can I sync playlist from an older model iPod shuffle to a new 4th generation iPod shuffle without losing the playlist on the original iPod shuffle?

If the songs on the old shuffle are in your iTunes music library, you'll need to sync the same songs to the new shuffle from your iTunes library.  You can't sync from one iPod to another iPod.
If the songs on the old shuffle are not in your current iTunes library, you first need to off-load the song files from the old shuffle, add them to your iTunes library, then sync those songs to the new shuffle.
You can't transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.

  • Can the trackpad with 4 fingers right/left change from Space to another?

    Hello.
I guess the title says all. I wish I could use the trackpad with it's 4 fingers move right on the right or left to change from spaces and thus, without a new app.
    Thanks for you information!

    Hi
    Thank's for your quick reply.
Well I asked *without a new app*, but I guess there are no easy workaround. No terminal command to use for that purpose? I'll go on with MagicPrefs if nothing new come, but I'm not keen on installing a new app for such "small" feature.
Let's wait and see if a geek comes here .

  • Changing from .mac to another server-how to make sure I keep all my emails?

Sorry if this has been asked before--I couldn't find it in recent threads--,
Here is my situation: I already have free email service from another server (my DSL provider) but I have kept paying for the .mac email and idisk storage for two years simply because I thought I was going to do great things, I guess.
I now realize I am too busy to learn enough about setting up my own webpage or whatever, so want to consolidate and save money. I am going to not resubscribe when next year's payment comes due next month, but in the meanwhile, I need to know:
Should I forward any or all of my (opened and read) mail to my new email/server? Or is it all stored on my iMac anyway, and so only need to send my friends an email telling them of the new address...? I obviously don't want to lose anything.
Please advise. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Your DSL provider probably does not provide/support an IMAP account - more than likely it is a POP account so there is no need to forward all messages from your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox to your DSL provider's email account which probably much has less server storage space available.
If you have been accessing your account as a .Mac type account (which is really an IMAP account and behaves in the same way), you need to transfer all messages in the account's Inbox mailbox to a user created "On My Mac" location mailbox before the account expires.
This will store the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time.
I recommend using the Copy To command vs the Move To command in case something goes wrong with the process.
At the menu bar, go to Mailbox and select New Mailbox.
Select "On My Mac" as the location if not already selected, enter a name for the mailbox and select OK to create the mailbox.
Select a message in the message list for the account's Inbox mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Select All to highlight/select all messages in the account's Inbox mailbox.
At the menu bar, go to Message > Copy To and select the user created "On My Mac" location mailbox.
This will copy all messages from the server to the user created mailbox. When completed and after confirming all messages were successfully copied to the mailbox, you can delete all messages from the server or leave as is. When the account expires, all messages available on the server will be deleted.
If you are also saving sent messages on the server, you need to do the same with all sent messages stored on the server and with any other messages stored on the server that you want/need to keep such as and Drafts.
I would send an email to all contacts in your Address Book informing them of your email address change now and to start using your new email address right away. This way, you will have fewer messages to transfer from the account's Inbox to the user created "On My Mac" location mailbox.
If you have been accessing your .Mac account as a POP account, you need to do the same with all messages in the account's Inbox and Sent mailbox before deleting the account. When deleting an account with Mail, the account named folder and all associated account mailboxes are also deleted.

  • Change from Ipod classic to Ipod touch

Hi, I have two Ipods, the classic and the touch. My question is if the same library is useful for both when I sync them or I will have to create another one. thanks

I have 1 library and have 3 ipods including a touch. I create playlists for the touch and only sync those since the capacity of the touch is smaller than the classic. At sync time itunes will give you the option to choose which playlist to sync to the touch.

  • If change from BT to another line rental/broadband...

I currently have both line rental and broadband with BT.  I was just wondering if I changed both to another provider would I still be able to keep my email address', these include 4 sub accounts?

    Hi Suffolker,
Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum.
With BT Total broadband you get free email addresses that you can use.  If you decide to leave BT broadband then you will lose your email account unless you upgrade your email account to premium mail.  This will allow you to keep your email address for a fee of £1.50 per month per email address.
Please see here for more details What is BT Yahoo! Premium Mail?

  • How do I change my ipod to another computer?

My computer crashed and I purchased a new one. How do I take all of my music off my ipod and put it on the new computer? Any help please!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are a few options available...
    MacMuse: Computer Crashed
    YamiPod
If you want to take the software route instead of doing it manually, you can use YamiPod (the one I posted above), or you can use other software. Search the internet via Google for some more options.

  • Transferring music from iPod to another

I am thinking of upgrading to a newer iPod or buying an iPhone. I was wondering if there is any way possible to transfer everything on my current iPod to either of these new devices. If not I will most likely cry

    Hello Stylinfreak,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If the content that is currently on the iPod is still all in your iTunes library, simply hook up the new iPod or iPhone, set it up to sync however you like, and be on your away.
If it's not, you will first have to copy all the music currently on it to your ITunes library. For different methods on how to do this, see this older thread of mine.

  • Colour Labels being reset when changing from one to another. Possibly a bug?

For some time I have suspected that I was "loosing " images that I had filtered based on their colour label. I have narrowed it down to changing the colour label of an image in just one particular way.
I think that the errors occured in  in Lightroom 3 but they it always occurs in version 4
    Using Develop mode
I label several images to one colour eg  blue
In the filmstrip using the colour label filter select for example blue and purple which will still show all the images labelled as above
Using the colour buttons on the toolbar under the image, change the colour label of  an image to purple, Since the filter is set to blue and purple the image should still be present in the filmstrip but it is missing
Searching for the image via other means eg filename I find that the colour label has been reset to none instead of changing to purple
This only happens if the colour change is done using the toolbar buttons, using any of the text menus that access the colour labels the problem doesn't occur.
The error is not limited to blue and purple labels
Am I missing something? Can anyone replicate this ?
    regards
    Wes

I can replicate this when using toolbars.
This doesn't seem to happen when I use the keyboard.
I can remember more older bug reports related to using the toolbar in conjuction filters. Somehow the codepath and behaviour is different the when using keyboard shortcuts. Go figure...
