Adobe acrobat 8 won't install with Indesign and Dreamweaver CS4

I have a client who I had to build a new computer for which is Windows XP Pro. On her original machine I had AA8, InDesign CS4, DreamWeaver CS4, Contribute CS5, Adobe Reader 9.3 and Adobe Photoshop 6. I have tried puting AA8 on the new machine that has all of the above on it and I get a response that I have a newer version of AA and it won't install. I don't have any AA on this machine so I'm not sure what to do. She says she can't edit PDFs or combine them and that she can't create a PDF ind Word and Xcel and edit them. Should I tell her to upgrade to AA9 so that it is compatible to the CS4/5 products?

I have been able to install the disc but it tells me that I have to activate it with a time limit of 30 days and counting. Activation fails each time I've tried. As I'm nearing the end of the time limit I decided to contact Adobe for advice. They gave me a download package and new serial number but it's only suitable for OS XP and Windows 2000 so I'm unable to download it. I was told by the advisor if I still had problems to use the forum as a means of support so that's why I'm talking to people here.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobate Pro 7, so I might try reinstalling the disc to see if it gives me another 30 days grace, that, at least, would be a way around it.
I'll now follow the link you've given me. Though I do suspect I'm in a bit of a cul de sac.

Problems with flv and dreamweaver cs4

out of flash cs3 I generated a flv
with adobe media player all is ok I could see the flv
but when I import the flv into dreamweaver cs4 I get the picture below that means there is no flv

A picture of a ... a ... video game? ... advert means there is no flv?
How about posting the URL to your actual page rather than what ever that directupload.net image was supposed to be? It will help us to help you.
Meanwhile, I will make a simple guess based upon many similar questions.
Did you remember to upload the Scripts folder?

Hi, I am having issues with FTP in dreamweaver CS4

I am having a problem uploading a new site to my hosting provider using CS4. The error message I get is as follows. An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login or pasword are incorrect. Please check your connection information.
So far I have ,
Checked twice my login/password etc with host.
Changed password and re tried
Interestingly I have already uploaded two prev sites from the same machine, with the same CS4 to the same Host (123-reg)
Help !

Tried all the above including toggling between passive etc.
Interestingly in the FTP host box I was putting in what my host instructed, however i have now started to try putting http;// and some other variations
in. Now the error message has changed
FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host remote host cannot be found
The good news is CS4 now at least is showing a dialogue box showing it is attempting to make a connection.
Is there any rules etc when inputting FTP host and host directory? i.e use of / or . /
on a past site I was told the host directory was public_html but got it working by putting /public_html/
I think you are right with the site defenition being the issue, please advise

i just got this program called pop menu magic 2, and it says
that users who use CS4 should switch to classic workspace mode for
more conventional use, how do i do that?

There is a drop down list towards the top right corner of
your Dreamweaver
window, just to the left of the search box.

Changing zoom angle with transition manager

Hi guys and gals,
I'm making a map and would like to be able to zoom in and out
of counties. I've got most of it down I believe, but would like to
be able to control where the zoomed in image ends up. I'm using the
transition manager information I found
here.
Here is what my code looks like:
_root.img_dunn_mc._x = 82;
_root.img_dunn_mc._y = 235;
mx.transitions.TransitionManager.start(img_dunn_mc,
{type:mx.transitions.Zoom, direction:0, duration:.5});
The x and y values are to make it appear that the county is
zooming in from a specific spot on the map. When it zooms in, it
simply makes the clip bigger. Is there a way to control the x and y
coordinates of the zoomed in image?

It used to work perfectly fine - if I changed my mind while watching/fine tuning an edit, or wanted to see what the other angle would look and I had already put a crossfade, it would be a seamless transition between the two...the clip would change to the beginning of the edit, not to the end of the transition (and I could then remove the transition as it was superfluous). Which is why it came as a surprise that all of a sudden it has stopped working

Issue with font dreamweaver cs4

Hi,
i have a powerbook with tiger and dreamweaver 8, and also i have a mbp with leopard and dreamweaver cs4.
My issue is with font rendition .. i mean, i setup both system a software with the same parameters, code view in Dreamweaver with Monaco at 8pt, and in Look (System preferences) disable antialiasing for font smaller than 8pt. The issue is the with configuration the code appears in two different ways. With powerbook the view is fine, instead on mbp the font is like with antialising and it appears out of focus.. why does it happen?
The only different thing is the screen resolution 1440x960 against 1400x900..
Do you have any suggestion? Or code font to suggest..

On the MBPro, open FontBook, select the font, then from the Menu Bar, click File/Validate Font and see if that helps.

Access levels in dreamweaver cs4

Hi,
I have been playing around with dreamweaver cs4 using the tutorials and videos i have thanks to you guys.
I created a simple login mysql database and used the login features within dreamweaver cs4 which was great and so simple.
I have came across login to a secured site so many times over the past few years pulling down sample asp with access scripts and never getting it right.worked first time no problem.
however what i do also get asked is access level security for a secured area. i noticed in the login objects properties there was an option "secure page and get access level from database table" however what i want to be able to do is have it so an admin would see all contacts in the database but the individual agents only have access to their own assigned contacts.
i would be greatful anyone could point me in right direction from within dreamweaver to do this, also not sure how i would setup the table in mysql to reflect this?
any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated.

Template url problem in Dreamweaver CS4

Hi there,
Thank you very much for reading this post. I am having a problem with templates in Dreamweaver CS4, I am following the correct procedures to build a template, but when I link the pages together and update the template, the url has not been changed/updated on the child pages.
Here is an example:
Template:
../content/section/pagename.html
Child Page:
/section/pagename.html
Missing out the first part of the link, when the pages are loaded, obviously, they are not going to the correct part of the website
Please, can anybody give me some advice, as this problem is very quickly, driving me mad.

I observe this problem too on my Vista x64 machine with CS4
using dual monitors and split code/design views, and have found
others who have this problem by searching Google.
Description of problem: Roughly 50% of the time, when
switching between files (regardless of type) and trying to select a
block of code with my mouse (dragging over some code with the left
button), it appears to work normally (the intended code is
highlighted). However, when then attempting to CTRL-C (cut) or
paste, the selected code instantly changes to a much larger block
of code (usually selecting a specific div block or something). The
cut or pasted code is then the larger (unintended) block of code.
Once the code view selection works for a particular file
(either it worked from the start or I poked at it long enough to
work), it seems to remain working until switching to another file
and then returning.
Also, Dreamweaver CS3 didn't have this problem, so it's CS4
only.
This is a workflow nuisance much like a word-processor
deciding to insert a % character randomly every 10 seconds while
typing.
I found a Google groups thread
here
in which a poster writes that deleting the Dreamweaver
configuration file fixes this temporarily (the problem eventually
shows up again, and you lose all your customizations by doing
this). The posters in this thread also describe the same problem
with other hardware configurations.
My current workaround is to type return then backspace when
dropping in to the code-view of another file--kind of a pain, but
at least predictable. I also tried avoided the issue by: (a)
selecting something in the design view and then selecting something
in the code view, and/or (b) telling Dreamweaver to show the
"element view" (right click in design view, element view, Full),
but this latter action may be superfluous.
I'd be very interested if someone were to post a simple fix
for this problem.

Are all of your pages that are linked to this on the same directory level?
The ../../ in front of every link means "go up two directory levels". If there are no pages, or if some of the pages are not at that directory level, the links would be going to nothing.
I don't use library items myself, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but the "bad path" in your error report leads me to think some of those paths (since they're the only ones in the code) could be pointing to the wrong locations.
My response will also bump your question back to the top of the pile. Maybe someone else will have a good idea of what's actually happening.

Wrong App. Bar in Dreamweaver CS4

Hello,
Really need help on this one!
I just crashed Windows7 and had to reinstall, along with it my Dreamweaver CS4.
It's fine except the Application Bar across the top FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc. has been replaced with
"menus/DWMenuFile | menus/DWMenuEdit | menus/DWMenuView", AND the pull down for each
has MANY sub-menus with "Menus/DWMenu" EXTREMELY annoying.
How did this happen and how can I get back to my "plain vanilla" application bar as I've been accustomed
to since CS2!
There's very little help out there for this issue, I WOULD REALLY appreciate anyone that can help with this!

I figured it out with some help from your group.
I had to delete both CONFIG. files which are found under:
Corrupted file cache
Dreamweaver creates a cache file called WinFileCache-********.dat or
MacFileCache-********.dat inside your personal Dreamweaver configuration
folder (the asterisks represent a series of letters and numbers that might
differ from computer to computer). This occasionally gets corrupted causing
instability, unpredictable error messages, and even crashes.
To solve the problem, close Dreamweaver and delete WinFileCache-********.dat
or MacFileCache-********.dat. Sometimes, deleting this file is not
sufficient, and you need to delete your personal configuration folder in its
entirety.
I had to actually delete the personal config folder, which rebuilt when I
relaunched DW, and all is fine!
It's a great fix, and easy!

Problems controlling divs with dreamweaver cs4

Hi all, so I have been hard coding my website and have had great success with the layout and everything. I am having trouble with dreamweaver cs4, does anyone know if cs4 is compatible with html5? My silicone cupcake liners website looks great but a nice transition to dreamweaver would save a lot of work.

DWCS4 won't be able to correctly read the html5 semantic tags like <nav><aside> or <header> while in Live View. The built in version of the quasi-webkit browser is just too old.
Design View will work for the most part, but does get confused by certain things within HTML5 specific tags, so that will look even more broken than normal.
It also will not automatically generate any HTML5 specific code, there are no HTML5 menu options and there is no update to make it do that.
The program itself is no longer supported by Adobe, being the 5th version removed from "current"...

Synchronize problem with Dreamweaver CS4

Hi all,
I was wondering whether any of you can offer any advice or help with a problem I have with Dreamweaver CS4.
The problem is regarding the Synchronize feature within Dreamweaver, for example after I have made a change to a web page and want to upload this to the internet, the software detects what files have changed which is fine but against the file it has the word and symbol called "Resolve" and this is where I am stuck because I cannot click on the Resolve button to change it to "Put" because the icon is grey so therfore I am unable to upload any changes to any websites.
If anybody can help me then it would be very much appreciated.

Dreamweaver CS4 Cannot get Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet with XML to work

I've created a page in Dreamweaver CS4 with a spry dataset. This works great. I've downloaded Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet and installed it but I keep getting an error that nested datasets are not supported.

I have found the reason that I could not make it work, I did not have the correct JavaScript file installed.
