Change IMAP Port in Blackberry mail config

I hope someone can help me.  I'm configuring the email account from my University in my Blackberry Torch 9800. The common port for the IMAP protocol is always 995, unfortunatelly the port used un my university is 993. How can i Change the IMAP port configuration to access in my blackberry? The configuration assistant from the mail, does not give the option to configure de port and it gives an unnexcpected error, sinces it tries to get acces by 995 port.
Best regards

Hey jduguet,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
If the email is integrating under 995, that means it is integrating as POP3 SSL.  You are unable to change the port numbers in the BlackBerry Internet Service.
Also IMAP SSL is port 993.
Are you not receiving email when it is added via port 995?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Change IMAP Port

    Hi,
I am a new Blackberry user, and although I have only had it a day, I can't see me using anything else!
Anyway, I have set up BIS to access my email account using IMAP. It's all working, but I had my mail server set up to use a non-standard port for IMAP, just to make it a little more secure. To get the Blackberry working I had to also open up port 143 (standard IMAP)
Is there a way to change the settings so that BIS will use a specific port?
The port setting in the advanced options is disabled and I can't change it.
Also, as has been mentioned by countless other posters on here, I can't believe the lack of sync of the 'read' flag from the mail server to the BB.  Wake up RIM! - this is basic functionality.
    Thankyou.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Once an email account is integrated, the port is set and cannot be edited. To change it, you must delete and re-create the BIS conduit for that account. But, when you re-create it, you need to use yoru valid email address but an invalid password. Doing so will bring you into the advanced integration screens which should (as I recall...it's been a while) provide you with the ability to configure the port.
As for what reconciles, a blanket statement concerning how it works (or does not) is not IMHO sufficient...some work, some do not. Hence, see this KB:
KB05133 Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Lastly, if you were hoping that RIM would "wake up" and see your post...such is not likely. These forums are a user-to-user channel...not a user-to-RIM path.
    Good luck!

  • Change the port of SBO Mailer

    Hello,
I would like to put another port (other than 25) in the SBO Mailer.
Apparently it is not possible to do so. Can a future version provides for this option?
    Thanks.

As you know, current SBO Mailer only support port 25.  I don't think this will be changed in foreseeable future.  B1 is an ERP application.  It is not an email solution, after all.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Change imap to pop in mail

I have an imap account and i need to chenge it to pop

Move all emails out of your client Inbox - -
I should have mentioned that the above should be done after ensuring that the old IMAP interface has been disabled to prevent it attempting to synchronising with the server.
Whilst the simple process I described earlier in this thread works well the more technical may wish to have a cleaner email folder by starting afresh as follows:
    Mail
Quit Mail. Put a copy of your Mail folder in your Library onto your Desktop. Here are two different methods:
Delete the original Mail folder in your Library to invoke the install wizard
Use the simple process described earlier in this thread
At any time old mbox folders can be given a unique name and imported into Mail. Before you import change the old containing folder names to a short name which will not conflict with account names.
    Thunderbird
Quit Thunderbird. Put a copy of your Profile onto your Desktop. It is in your Thunderbird folder in your Library. Here are three different methods:
Remove your old Profile to invoke the install wizard
Make a new Profile - both Profiles will be functional
    Follow these instructions: http://links.zero.eu.org/thunderbird/seed-1.html
At any time old mbox files can be given a unique name and moved from one profile to another.
See above Thunderbird link to discover how to avoid old email being downloaded again.

  • Any insight as to why multiple Apple Mail IMAP accounts with Blackberry don't get emails?  Thunderbird seems to work fine.

I have two instances of Apple mail connected to the same IMAP server; one on my iMac and the other on my MacBook (when I travel).  I also have a Blackberry Storm connected to the same IMAP server.
The Blackberry gets emails fine.  The Apple Mail clients mostly don't get the same emails.  I have disabled the Blackberry and still get the same behavior.  Thunderbird or any web-based email client works perfectly well, so it seems the issue is with Apple Mail.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

If TCP port 25 isn't open, then SMTP services won't work.  That's the port that all SMTP servers use to communicate amongst themselves.    (Sure, you can change the port your SMTP server is listening on, but you'd also have to change the port processing on all of the other SMTP servers around — and if you did manage to implement that change everywhere, the local network folks would likely just block the new port for the same reasons they blocked the old port.)
If you have a public static IP address and have correct forward and reverse translations — host domain to IP address, and IP address to host domain name — then you don't need and very likely don't want to run your own DNS server.
More to help you learn how these pieces fit together and not something I'd expect you would need given you have a public static IP and public DNS here is a detailed DNS server configuration article for OS X Server; enable Show All Records and it applies to Server.app on 10.7 and later.  If you have questions after reading that, I can certainly answer them and also update the article to try to reduce the confusion or answer the question.
Your host didn't have valid reverse DNS, so you'll want to get that cleared up, and you'll want to get the port blocks cleared, or work with the local network folks to set up a relay through one of the existing mail servers.

  • My ISP tells me I need to I need to change the port to send/receive e-mails, but I can't remember my Mail password to add an account. How can I proceed without the password?

My ISP tells me I need to change the port to send/receive mail, as the current port is going to be disabled for security reasons. But I can't remember my Mail password to add an account. How can I add an account when I don't remember my password? It's been several years.

your email password is with your ISP so they can help. but if it is saved in the email app you can just change the ports in the preferneces without a password.

  • Can't Change Port number on Mail account settings

I am trying to use Mac mail to read my .mac email. I can recieve messages but can't send them.
I have isolated the problem to the port number which is 993. The problem is I can't change it to 25 or to 587 which is what .mac recommends. If I uncheck "use ssl" the port number changes to 143 but I still can't change it.
I have tried every possible way to change the port but it will not allow me.

    Dave,
You are trying to change the wrong port setting. Those you are describing are related to Incoming Servers and are changed in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced -- those are NOT what you want.
Instead click open Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, and click on the arrows beside the name of the Outgoing Server, then choose Edit Server List, and then select the Advanced tab and the smtp.mac.com there. You can then change to Port 587, for example.

  • HELP : Is IMAP a pre-requisite for Blackberry Mails?

Hi all, I am a new Blackberry user and thoroughly satisfied with my experience so far. Setting up of my company e-mail was very fast. I was already using IMAP based e-mail in my earlier Symbian phone. In Blackberry I just entered my email id and that was it. I started getting the mails after 20 minutes onwards. However, as a recent company policy, they are stopping IMAP access of our corporate mail and shutting IMAP down. Blackberry is not supported in our corporate as an Enterprise Service also. My question is that once the IMAP is shut down, is there any other way I can access my Corporate mail? Otherwise my entire investment in Blackberry will go down the drain. Please help.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!
As long as your company faces your email, in some form, to the Internet (i.e., no VPN), then you should be able to integrate it into your BB via BIS. If, however, they remove it from facing the Internet, then there's nothing that can be done to pierce that firewall and provide you your email without BES. The key will be - if you can access your email from your PC "outside" on the Internet and without the benefit of VPN, then it is highly likely that BIS can be configured to push that email to your BB.
    Good luck!

  • Change SMTP port to 587 doesn't work

    Hi,
my ISP blocks port 25, ok and no problem - not for the iphone.
When i change port 25 to 587 it checks the config - works.
After i gone back in the menu the account list, to save the settings, (still in the settings) and go again to the SMTP settings, port 587 has changed to port 25.
    Using iOS 4.
    Some ideas?
I think the "smash the iphone" method should be the best - self created SSL certs make some problems to the mail.app and so on - very bad. Works under OS X but not on iOS. Never mind, it's ok if i could save atm the port 587.
    Cheers

    Still the same...
Port 465 changes also back to 25.
My provider @ home needs port 25, ever other port won't work.
Outside i have to use port 465 or 587, but these ports don't be saved - i could only send 1 mail (wich is currently pending to send) after change the settings.

  • How do I set up an IMAP Yahoo! Beta mail account in MAIL app?

    Hi there!
I would like to know how do I set up an IMAP mail account from Yahoo! Mail Beta in Mail app. Can someone help me?
    THX!

Please disregard my post above. It appears that Yahoo does now indeed have IMAP access. From Wikipedia:
    "Free IMAP and SMTPs access
It is possible to get direct IMAP access. Yahoo! operates IMAP and secure IMAP servers (imap.mail.yahoo.com in particular), which are globally accessible. However they require a specific, non-standard IMAP command to be sent before login is done, namely: “ID ("GUID" "1")”. This non standard command is not required if accessed from mobile networks, typically those used by smart phones on mobile carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc... For regular internet users, it is feasible to modify an open-source e-mail client to send the ID command, and there are modified versions of Mutt and Mozilla Thunderbird available to download.[25] Alternatively, one can connect an unmodified e-mail client through an IMAP proxy that adds the ID command. A commercial software package that accomplishes this is called 'Yahoo IMAP Connector',[26] available here. Mutt-dev (1.5) works without any modifications.
It is also possible to send mail through mail clients as Yahoo! also operates an SMTP server (smtp.mail.yahoo.com). It is necessary to enable SSL through port 465. For IMAP and SMTPS access the username is the user's Yahoo! Mail address and the password is the same as for webmail access.
Mac OS X users can directly set up an IMAP account in Apple Mail 4.4. After entering a full name, email address and password, hold down the Option key. The Create button will change to Continue, allowing one to manually configure the account settings."

  • My provider changed to pop3 port 995 incoming and port 465 outgoing. Now it no longer works. I went into the Thunderbird 28 beta and changed the ports

I have Thunderbird 28 beta. After changing the ports, I no longer receive mail and this is the error message going out:
    Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.3dcartstores.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
Passwords have not been changed and I have to login on the web

What are the exact instructions from your email provider?

  • I am trying to set up my outlook 2007 account on i pad and the process sticks on verifying.  It would appear to be a problem with outgoing server and I have changed the port number but with no success.

I have just purchased an i pad 2 and am having trouble with the e-mail set up.  Set up with wi-fi, i-cloud etc has worked fine but the i pad is recognising my outlook 2007 account details but is not verifying it.  The trouble appears to be with the outgoing server and I have tried changing the port number, but to no avail!  Also reset the account settings for holding messages on the server...help!  As you can tell I'm not very techy and I'm desperate to get the bloody thing working as I'm going away on Tuesday! Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue and it was password case sensitive issue

  • Can't change my Port under preferences

    For some reason.
I have chosen my server for outgoing mail, but when I go to advanced to type in the appropriate Port #, the number that is there is shaded and I can't type there. I click the SSL checkbox on and off and the port number changes but incorrectly both times.
Is there a way I can control what port I wanna send my mail through?
    Thanks

You do not have to set up your mail again.
If you scroll down far enough in the screenshots it tells how to access
    the smtp server settings.
NOT on the advanced tab, but under the 'account information' tab.
On the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu (close to bottom )select Edit Server List.
Result: The SMTP Server Options window opens. This window should let you change
    the port smtp uses.
You are not trying to change the smtp port in the correct location if you are seeing the port number 143 was my point.

  • Why does the port settings on my iPad change every time I sync with my computer. After syncing I have to go in and change the port settings so I can send and receive emails on my iPad.

Every time iSync my iPad 2 with my computer it changes the port settings. Has anyone else had this issue?

When you sync the iPad, do you have mail settings configured to sync to the iPad? You could have different settings on your computer that might be affecting the email set up on the iPad when you sync.

  • Can you use IMAP with the ipads mail feature?

Can you use IMAP with the ipads mail feature?

    Kappy,
Yes, our domain and email accounts are on a server that does accept IMAP. Also, our mac mini and imacs are all set up for IMAP. Buying an ipad will enable me to work from home during this winter.
Another ?: do you know if you can use text edit with the iPads mail feature? Reason being we have about 100 generic emails that all we have to do is change a few fields before sending out. Can this be integrated in without having to recreate all these messages?
