Change Investment Management message Control

I am setting up Investment Management, and I would like to know if its possible to change message BQ151 to a warning.  this message stops you allocating more to an order than is available in the total budget.
The reason for doing this, is that we want the option to have unbudgeted orders, so it is possible that an area may exceed its budget.
I cannot find any message control options in Investment management, or where the change options are for application area BQ.
Does anybody know where these message are configurable?
Thanks
Graham

Hi,
Technically, it's possible through OBMSG transaction. Though, you should consider the consequences...

  • Ability to Change Data Manager Messages

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know if anyone has successfully changed the Data Manager (DM) messages.
We have a DM package that runs a BAdI calculation.  We successfully linked the BAdI message to the DM so that on the detailed section of the DM results we can see our custom message. However, on the first page I see there’s a WARNING only.  I’d like to show the user the message on the first tab so prevent him from having to scroll through the various results of the log to get to our custom message.
Didn’t see any functions on Script logic or DM to generate messages.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • OWB Change Management/Version Control Best Practice

    Hi
I am about to start developing a data warehouse using OWB 10g R2, and I've been doing quite a lot of research into the various deployment/change management/version control techniques that can be used, but am still unsure which is the best to use.
We will have 2-3 developers working on the project, and will be deploying from Development, to Test, to Production (each will have a separate repository). We want to be able to easily identify changes made between 1 release and the next to have a greater degree of control and awareness of what goes into each release. We also wish to use a source control system to track changes (we'll probably use SVN, but I don't think that the actual SCS tool makes a big difference to our decision at this point).
The options available (that I'm aware of), are:
    1. Full MDL export/import.
    2. Snapshot MDL export/import.
    3. Manual coding of everything using OMB Plus.
I am loath to use the full MDL export/import functionality since it will be difficult, if not impossible, to identify easily the changes made between 1 release and the next.
The snapshot MDL export/import functionality is a little better at comparing releases, but it's still difficult to see exactly what has changed between 1 version and the next - particularly when a change to a transformation has been made. It also doesn't cope that well with tracking individually made changes to different components of the model.
The manual coding using OMB Plus seems like the best option at the moment, though I keep thinking "What's the point of using a GUI tool, if I'm just going to code everything in scripts anyway?".
I know that you can create OMB Plus code generation scripts to create your 'creation' scripts, but the code generation of the Alteration scripts seems that it would be more complicated than just writing the Alteration scripts manually.
Any thoughts anyone out there has would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liffey

Well, you can also do per-object MDL exports and then manage those in your version control system. With a proper directory structure it would be fairly simple to code an OMB+ Script that scans a release directory tree and imports the objects one by one. I have done this before, although if you are using OWB as the primary metadata location for database objects then you have to come up with some way to manage object dependency order issues.
The nice thing about this sort of system is that a patch can be easily shipped with only those objects that need to be updated.
And if you force developers to put object-level MDL into your version control system then your system should also have pretty reporting on what objects were changed for a release and why.
At my current job we do full exports of the project MDL and have a deployment script that drops the pre-existing deployed version of the project before importing and deploying the new version, which also works quite well - although as you note the tracking of what has changed in a release then needs to be carefully managed elsewhere. But we don't deploy any of our physical database objects through OWB. Those are deployed from Designer, and our patch script applies all physical changes first before we replace the mappings from the OWB project. We don't even bother synching the project metadata for tables / views / etc. at deployment. If the OWB project's metadata for database objects is not in sync with Designer, then we wind up with deployment errors. But on the whole it works pretty well.

  • Investment Management - curriences

    Hi,
I was created IM Position. It gave a message IM currency is different from Controlling Area Currency. In the currenet scenario my Co. Code currency is INR but Controlling Area currency is EUR. Hiow to solve this issue.
    Bye,
    Ramesh

    Hello
    Check this documentation.
    Currencies
    Use
The SAP Financial Accounting (FI) component offers you the option of managing up to three different currencies in parallel in one company code. You can define three local currencies for each company code in FI Customizing.
The Asset Accounting (FI‑AA) component supports the FI currency functions with its depreciation areas, in which you define the given local currency. In addition, each asset under construction can manage any number of additional depreciation areas, in which other currencies can be managed.
    Currencies in Management Accounting
The Controlling (CO) component, on the other hand, offers only two currencies:
    ·        Controlling area currency
    ·        Object currency
Investment measures are represented in the Investment Management (IM) component using the CO objects: order or WBS element. Therefore, you can post an acquisition to an investment measure in at most two currencies (controlling area currency and object currency). During the periodic settlement to an asset under construction, there are only two original currencies available. The system translates into any other currencies, that are used in Asset Accounting or Financial Accounting, at the time of the settlement.
    Features
There are two different situations possible for the currency translation of values related to the settlement of an investment measure:
    ·        When line item settlement is used for the measure (refer to Settlement Rules), the system uses the historical exchange rate from the posting date of the original debit for the translation for each line item.
    ·        When summary settlement is used for the measure, the system uses the exchange rate valid on the value date of the settlement for the translation of all values.
In both cases, the currency translation may cause the values to be slightly inexact. For summary settlement, the exchange rate on the value date of the settlement very often does not agree with the exchange rate at the time the debit was posted. For line item settlement, this problem does not arise. However, you cannot exclude the possibility that manual changes were made to the exchange rate within the posting transaction for a debit. These manual changes to the exchange rate cannot be taken into account during the currency translation.
It is currently not possible to manage down payments on investment measures intended for summary settlement, if the accompanying asset under construction manages depreciation areas in a foreign currency, and this currency
§         Is not the controlling area currency, and is not managed as a parallel currency in the company code
§         Is still the controlling area currency
You then have two choices. Either settle the investment measure using line item settlement; or manage the depreciation area in the foreign currency only on the master records for the completed assets. This limitation is necessary, since the system cannot guarantee that down payments and down payment clearing for such currencies are translated using the same exchange rate during summary settlement.
    Possible Combinations of Currencies
The currency functions in the FI and CO components limit the handling of currencies for investment measures, under the following conditions:
    ·        Company code currency and controlling area currency are identical, and there are no parallel currencies in the FI component.
In this case, you can use the object currency of the order or WBS element. During the periodic settlement to the asset under construction, the system settles the amounts in controlling area currency to the depreciation areas in company code currency.
    ·        Company code currency and controlling area currency are identical, and there is another parallel currency in the FI component.
In this case, the object currency has to be the same as the additional, parallel company code currency. During the periodic settlement, the system settles the amounts in controlling area currency to the depreciation areas in the company code currency. Amounts in the object currency are settled to the depreciation areas in the parallel FI currency.
For a third parallel FI currency, the system can only provide values by currency translation at the time of the settlement, which results in the inexactness due to exchange rates that was described above.
    ·        Company code currency and controlling are currency are not the same.
In this case, the object currency has to be the same as the company code currency. During the periodic settlement, the system settles amounts in the object currency to the depreciation areas in company code currency. It provides values to the controlling area currency depreciation areas in the controlling area currency.
If there is another parallel FI company code currency, this currency has to be the same as the controlling area currency. For a third parallel FI currency, the system can only provide values by currency translation at the time of the settlement, which results in the inexactness due to exchange rates that was described above.

  • Budgets in Investment Management

I am looking to introduce Investment Management.  I am finding budgets very clunky, and far from user friendly, and I am wondering if there is a better way to deal with them.  can anybody advise on the following.....
    1. I am currently inputting anual budgets via IM32.  By default the transaction shows the overall view for the whole program.  The proposed process is to switch to the annual view, enter budgets, switch back to overall view, select budgets input to, Copy cumulative, reselect busgets, total up.  Its a very error prone and long winded process in my opinion, and I'm hoping theres a better way to get them in?
We only have 1 year available in each annual program so the overall and the annual figures will always be the same.  do I need to enter the figures in both views?  can I just use the overall view, or is there another neater way to do them?
    2. If I go for entering overall values only, are there any implications on budget distribution, Availability control, or reporting?
    3. There may be times when we agree to proceed with a project that was not budgeted for.  If a distribution exeeds the budget total, it generates an error message, can this be reduced to a warning?
    Thanks for any advice
    Graham

I'm afraid I still haven't found a solution to this very poor transaction, and as I've had no responses, I'm doubtful I will get one.

  • Message control for Internal Orders

    Hi
How to change the message control for an error when Iu2019m getting settling internal orders (message # KD503)
    Tks

    Hi
You need to maintain Condition record for your Purchase Order output. Then output will get assign automatically once you create PO.
    Use Transaction code: MN04
    Navigation:
Logistics --> Materials Management --> Purchasing  --> Master Data  --> Messages --> Purchase Order  -->  Create
Enter PO output type and maintain necessary conditions.
    hope it helps.

  • Help me configure Change request management !!!

    Dear friends,
I am Going to Configure Change request Management, so just to ensure that the configuration is not erronous, i would need Expert advise..
Just want to know Clear few things before i proceed..
I am also refering SPRO and related notes
    Scenario :
I have two SYSTEMS SAP ECC 6.0 with System id R03 and Soluiton manager with SYSTEM id SOL,
    R03 has 3 clients, 300 600 700..
In R03 300 is the development client, 600 is quality client, 700 is the production client.
    SOL has 2 clients, 100, 200
With 200 as the production client.
Q.1) <b>Do i have to configure CHARM in both the client (100 and 200 of SOLMAN).</b>
Q.2) Initially I had tried to set CHARM in client 100 of solman, but later on realized that it has to be set up in client 200.
When i logon to client 200 and  Execute IMG activity Spro-> sap soltion manger->basic settings-> sap solution manager system->activate integration with change request management.
Then by default it take the previous client ( client 100) as the change request management client.
( as we know there are three steps in the above activity ), the other activity are executed properly, only prblem being that the default client is always set to 100, which should not be the case).
I do get the prompt saying ( "The change request clent is set to clent 100, do u want to change to client 200, on clicking yes, still it is always set the same client 100 as charm client ")
<b>Plz let me know what do i do to set the change request client to 200??</b>
Q.3) Regarding TMS, we have local domain controller in solman and local domain in R3.
We are planing to establish domain links between the two systems( ie both the domain controllers) ??
Is this the right strategy ??
<b>Any other method that u can recommend  ??</b>
Q.4)One of the IMG activity says, Generate Destinations to client 000 of all the domain controllers..
Whenever i do this these, destinations are created with errors, i am not able to create trusted RFC destinations without errors.
When i logon to satellite domain controler and excecute sm59 there are 2 destinations created Trusted and BACK.
    These destinations works well,
but when i logon to Solman, got to sm59 , when i test the TMW and TRUSTED rfc destinations  i test these destinations using Remote Logon i get error,
" no authorization to logon as trusted system"
I went thru one note which recomended Kernel upgrades to solve the problem,
I r3 my kernel relaese is 700 with patch level 56, the note recomends to apply patch 80, did u have these problems??
<b>what is your kernel patch levels in sateliite and solman systems.</b>
Q.5) TO be able to raise tickets from R3 to solman we create RFC destinations.
We also create RFC destinations to client 000 of all the sateliite system,
<b>dont u think these RFC destinations might interfere with each other??</b>
Q.6) Is there anyone who has successfully configured CHARM. Can you plz share the  configuration documents with me..
    Please note :
<b>All the contributors would be handesomely rewarded with points .</b>

    Hi,
    Check this
    Note 128447 - Trusted/Trusting Systems
    For your Q4.
    Q3.)
Establishing Domain link - That's the right way. Go ahead.
    These are the steps.
<b>1.Define Transport Routes for System Landscape</b>
assign exactly one development system to a production system, and that these two systems are connected by exactly one unique transport track. If a development system and a production system are connected by more than one transport track, this may lead to inconsistencies within the transport distribution. This type of transport configuration cannot be supported by Change Request Management, and may cause inconsistencies within the tools involved.
    <b>2. Activate Extended Transport Control</b>
The CTC parameter should be '1'
    <b>3.Configure Transport Strategy</b>
    Deactivate the QA Approval.
    <b>4. Activate Trusted Services.</b>
    5.Activate Domain Links.
You have to activate domain link between systems.
    6. Generate RFC Destinations to Client 000
    Hope this helps.
    feel free to revert back.

  • Change Request Management in Implementation projects or not?

    Hello guys,
We are starting a Change Request Management project at a customer.  We discuss  in the blueprint phase whether we should be using it only for maintenance activities, and not for implementation projects.  We have some people that can be working both in maintenance and also in projects at the same time.
We want to understand whether that scenario is possible and also whether is advisable.  We want to have control over the process, and therefore we should be restricting the creation of Transport Orders through SE01 so that we know that transport requests are created only by change document action.
What are the drawback, difficulties, considerations you may consider in making that decision?  Is it logic to work that way or is it better just to implement it for the whole installation, including implementation projects?

We want to have control over the process, and therefore we should be restricting the creation of Transport Orders through SE01 so that we know that transport requests are created only by change document action.
this you can do either via SE03 / Display/Change Request Attributes  / SAP_TMWFLOW     Request created using Change Manager          X          X / Defaul for all client = Mandatory
    or
you can achieve this by just activating the CHaRM in SolMan ( solar_project_admin / system landscape / CHARM)

  • PO outbound message control - Condition record / PO IDOC outbound user exit

    Guys,
I have a system with PO outbound message control sending PO idocs to a unique plant that is set up as a customer in the partner profile. I am using a custom message type and RSEOUT00 to send my idocs with custom message type to this plant. This interface works fine. Now my requirement has changed. I need to send PO's to varying plants (depending on the plant in PO item- all items on my POs belong to same plant).
I noticed that i cannot create condition tables with PO type and Plant combination. (SAP Note 457497 .Q-34).
So I have decided to populate all my PO idocs with a generic receiving partner number '9999' and planning to change this somewhere in a user exit. I found an user exit which looks helpful.
    EXIT_SAPLEINM_001 .  FM
    MM06E001 - Enhancement.
But somehow this exit is not triggered in during PO creation ME21N or change Me22N/Me22.
Is this because I am using a custom message type instead of standard message type ? (I still use the process codes Me10/Me11). Would this matter ? When should this user exit trigger (during creation of idocs in status 30 or when i run RSEOUT00 to sweep these idocs in status 30 to status 03) ? Any tips will be useful.
    THanks.
Edited by: Shareen Hegde on Jul 21, 2008 10:13 PM

I found a OSS note -Note 457497 (Q&A # 34), which talks about the same . This was my assumption too. I was just confused because I saw plant(WERKS) in the field catalag of the access sequence.
I don't know what header field I can use to map the plant (I agree its a good idea to do this). But I have decided to do it another way. I will change the receiving partner on the control record depending on the plant in an user exit
    -  EXIT_SAPLEINM_001.
Thanks for your answer , Mahesh.

  • Help needed in Message Control - very urgent

    Hi Experts,
I have one requirement where in the customer wants to stop creation of IDOC which posts Invoice using message control and message control status should be changed to RED color and also the message should be populated in the processing log saying 'IDOC processing failed, External customer numbers not maintained'.
Could you please let me know any user exits or customer exits available for this purpose.
I have searched all the possibilities.
I have chanked the program RSNAST00 which picks up the data from table NAST and looks into table TNAPR to get the processing porgram for th selected output and also this program checks the partner profile and gets the process code which creates an inoice IDOC. I searched for user exits and customer exits to popolate the required messages and stop IDOC creation.
I am an ABAPER and i know i need to write code to do validation, but could not find the exact place where to write? I any ABAPERS looking at this post, please reply me.
Can anyone please advise me how to go about solving this issue?
    Thanks
    Srinath

    Hi,
       I am sending the requirement.
      Please send me the solution.
    Requirements:
    1.     EDI Invoice requires populating bottle UPC number not case UPC in IDOC and also populates customer PO number when invoice billing type is a credit.  These changes need to be reflected on EDI invoice (Idoc INVOIC02).
    Investigation:
Requirement 1. EDI invoices are populating segment E1EDP19 qualifier 003 based on the unit of measure in the line item.  If shipment unit is CSE then it populates CSE upc, if shipment unit is EA then it populates Bottle UPC.
    a.     It was found that the UPC populated on the EDI invoice was being read from material master – Additional data tab.  (Field SMEINH-EAN11).  For the EDI invoice, the customers expect the bottle UPC on this column.
Requirement 2.  Need to always populate Segment E1EDK02 Qualifier 001 (customer PO) on the INVOIC02 idoc.  Standard SAP populates this information only when the billing type is F2 (regular invoice) and if the customer PO was entered in the Sales Order.
                                a) Premier requires this information to be populated in the idoc if the billing type is G2, RE, L2 also.
    Solution:
    Requirement 1.
IDOC_OUTPUT_INVOIC function module needs to be changed to always populate the UPC number for the bottle UPC in segment E1EDP19 qualifier 003, field IDTNR.  This number is found on the material master – Basic data 1 view.  Field name is MARA-EAN11.   Please see screenshot of where in the material master to find the bottle UPC.
         a. This change applies to all billing types (F2, G2, L2, RE etc).
           Requirement 2.
Change IDOC_OUTPUT_INVOIC function module to always populate customer PO information in Segment E1EDK02 qualifier 001, field BELNR.
If billing type is equal to G2, L2, RE and VBRK-XBLNR not equal blanks then make BELNR = VBRK-XBLNR.
    Segment:  E1EDK02
                                  Field:  QUAL = 001
                                  Field:  BELNR = VBRK-XBLNR
Please help me how to move a step ahead.
    Waiting for your immediate response.
    Thanks,
    Chandra.
