OS team are going change IP address and host name of the server which has ASM and DB.
What are the things we need to follow for this?

How do I "scan" my LAN and find the host name of the server computer?

I need to scan my LAN to find out the IP and host name of the computer in which is waiting for client acceptance because the server side of my program is not always on the same computer. Therefore, the IP and host name of my server is not final and can be placed on any computer on my network with over 50 connected computers. How might I check to see which computer is waiting for a client?
EDIT: I need the host name only, disregard IP

We are in the process of moving data centre and as part of this the host names of the BW servers will be changed and pointing to the new IP address, how and what configuration at BW server level to make sure all web reports points to the new host name when the url is generated.

Change "date and time" format in the server.

i would like to change the "time and date format" to european format from the current default(US) format in the serever.
Server is on windows XP. if i make the changes to control panel in the server, then too the changes are not reflected.
do i need to make a change in the SAP engine config?

go to su01 T-code and type the name for which u want to change the date and time settings as u require go to change mode and then click on defaults tab theer eu can find ur required format for time and date settings. I hope this will help u.

Getting the host name in the email subject line

I am running SCOM 2012. Is there a way to have the host name of the server in the Subject line of an email?

As alerts dont always have a servername included. ie Alerts usually have the name of the server or source included in Source or Path you might want to include both in the subject.
Here is what we use but you can add the lines found in the body to the subject:
Source: $Data[Default='Not Present']/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityDisplayName$
Path: $Data[Default='Not Present']/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityPath$

If it's 3.1 just change them, shouldn't cause any issues if by domain name you are referring to changing the domain the computer belongs to. If you are changing your domain for AD authentication then you will may have to take quite a few steps if the old domain is going away. Let us know.

Yahoo's servers are notoriously unreliable. Use the "Yahoo" account type when setting it up. If it doesn't work, and you are positive the credentials are correct, wait a while and try again.
While you're waiting, set up a free gmail or iCloud email account.

trying to access a portal page using APIs:

Do you mean how to see hostname/ip address of client requests processed by the server? If yes, depending on what's your front ending component - Web Cache or OHS, you can configure the access log format to have this information recorded in either of these component's access log file.
For Web Cache access log file, refer this:

By default, both Web Cache and OHS are configured to use Common Log Format (CLF) that does record hostname/ip address so if you haven't made any changes to log format, this info is already there for you. Look for $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/logs/access_log file for Web Cache and $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs/access_log file for OHS.

is it possible to change the display name of the LIVE / PRODUCTION blade under equipment --> Chasis -->Servers to our own naming standards.

It is not possible to change the name of the server, but you can add a label to it (see attached screenshot). And yes, it can be done during production hours, this doesn't affect the production data.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Getting the context and host name during initialization

I am trying to find a way to get the Context path and the host name during the ContextInitialized event, but without any luck. I think it is very strange that you can not even find the context path or the host name of the application you are running yourself.
Does anybody have an idea?

What I mean are the configuration elements which are put in the server.xml
The BIG problem with the getServletContextName is that this returns the name which is put in the web.xml. But I have a web application which is generic and only some config parameters should be altered. Thats why I need to now in which context I am.
I think the deployment of web applications is wrong by design. I have to specify deployment information inside the application package which in fact should be presented to the servlet container separately. It's like installing new applications on a computer. It should be possible to create 1 installation file (read a web archive) and then specify the location where you want to install it while deploying it (read specify the host name, context location etc.) Now these two are mixed together which I think is wrong.
Besides the above problem, I think it is also not correct to let users specify properties while configuring a context (either in the server.xml or the web.xml) and then not having an equivelant in the object model (Read the ServletContext object).

Servername and virtual host name is the same - how to handle this

I set up a server with the hostname yxzwiki.org
In the Server app under Websites this domain points to /Sites
In this /Sites directory is all my content (several Wikis) and also the phpmyadmin.
What is the issue now?
I want this xyzwiki.org not only as the hostname but as a virtual host as well.
So I have the following entry in the corresponding conf file.

ServerName xyzwiki.org
ServerAdmin [email protected]
DocumentRoot "/Sites/xyzwiki/xyzenwiki"
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
How can I handle this?
xyzwiki.org shows the content of /Sites/xyzwiki/xyzenwiki but I cannot e.g. get access to http://xyzwiki.org/phpmyadmin
Any ideas?

I guess I have talk more about this issue that people got the chance to help
xyz.org is the host name of our server.
The intention of this server is to run a wiki via mediawiki.
When we first set up the server we planned to have three language versions and the corresponding wikis were found on the server under
en.xyz.org for the English version
de.xyz.org for the German and
es.xyz.org for the Spanish version
But then we decided ONLY to concentrate on the English version and so prefix en became deprecated and we only want the domain xyz.org that shows the English Wiki.
The English wiki is on our server under /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki
In the Server.app I defined /Sites as the server website and I have a virtual host for xyz.org AS WELL that defines /Sites/tangowiki/tangoenwiki.
This seems to overrule the entry in the server.app as xyz.org shows the content of /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki
As I have other "services" as well under /Sites, e.g. phpmyadmin it is not possible for me with xyz.org/phpmyadmin to get to this service.
So what I am looking for is a trick that I can keep the /Sites directory as the main directory for xyz.org. I was thinking of a symlink for the index.php from /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki and to remove the virtual host entry but this does not work. Any other ideas.

I believe that starting with 9.2, you have to specify different passwords when you install (can't be the default).
