Change keyword tag icon want work

Hi,
I'm new in PSE and encoutert following problem by trying to change the icon for some of my previously assigned keyword tags. The PSE Help instruction says:
By default, Photoshop Elements creates an icon for a keyword from the first photo to which you’ve attached the tag...
Select the tag in the Keyword Tags panel of the Organize tab.
Click the New button , and select Edit from the menu.
Click Edit Icon in the Edit Keyword Tag dialog box.
which only works in my case, when I assign a photo (icon) to a keyword tag for the first time. If I try to change the icon later by above procedure, it doesn't work because the button "Edit Icon" is grayed out.

PSE 8: "Auto-analysis" and change of tag icon not working

Hi, in the organizer of PSE8/Win i have two problems:
I select some thumbnails and use "auto analyze" (for quality level etc.). Then i get a status bar "auto analyzing starts" - and it never gets beyond that stage. I have to click "cancel" to get out. That's also true with one single image selected.
The icons for tags like "Mary" automatically get a small picture. It is possible to change this tag picture after right-clicking. But then, the button "Edit symbol" is greyed out.
The menu for sorting by date in ascending/descending order doesn't change anything (i always see oldest pictures first).
There's lot of available hard disk in Elements' drive, but only 800 MB on the C: drive. I changed NONE of Elements preferences. When i change preference to "auto analyze on organizer's start-up", it still doesn't work. In the task manager, i do NOT see a task like "PhotoshopElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe" or so. I believe i saw this task in a slightly earlier version where everything worked fine. The problem exists with old catalogs as well as with newly created catalogs. Re-starts and re-booting didn't help either. I have perfectly normal camera JPEGS - and the face recognition works fine. It seems that the sub-application "PhotoshopElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe (?)" misses - could you advise me which file to look for?
Btw, i have Win XP SP2 with 4 GB memory on a non-English system with appropriate non-English PSE8 retail version. Premiere Elements 8 is installed too.
I would like to try "auto analyzing" and i would like to change tag icon pictures. Of course i could re-install, but that's just so tedious and i don't know if it helps. Would you have any other ideas? Thanks a lot!

thanks again for your considerations! After some more testing and input from the PrE 8 forum, i can say the following:
- Ascending/descending order: Now i know: If you have only pictures of one single day, there is no change in thumbnail order when you switch from "ascending" to "descending" and back. Of course pics from morning and evening should change position, but they don't. BUT: If you add one pic from another day, switching from "ascending" to "descending" suddenly fully works - including pics taken on one same day changing position. (To test Organizer, auto analysis and face recognition under fast clear conditions, i had originally only 20 pics in the catalog, all from one family day trip. And there, i couldn't change the order.)
- I checked "auto analyze" again. Now i can say: When i start "auto analyze" manually, i see "ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe" for half a second in the task manager. Then it disappears, and on the Organizer screens, the status bar keeps claiming "Starting analysis" until i click "Cancel". I ONLY tried it on regular JPEGs so far. There is no way to get a "smart tag". If i try a second time, no more "ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe" appears in the task manager. I also switched users on my PC to a user which has no utilities whatsoever running, less than 10 processes in the task manager, turned off anti-virus - still the same problem with "auto analyze".
- The face recognition tags btw are not written into the image file as IPTC, that has to be done with the "File" menu command. Also if i drag "smart tags" like "low quality" manually over a thumbnail, they get assigned only via catalog, not written as IPTC straight into the image file.
I don't think it's worth wasting more of one's time before there is a bugfix delivered that expressively acknowledges the issues mentioned. I am not a computer geek, just like to play with pictures and videos; i thought Elements was made for people like that.

In release 6 of Elements I was able to change the tag icon to a photo. How do I do this with release 13 of Elements

Why can't I edit keyword tag icons?

2011-05-15 - For some reason, when I attempt to change the photo that appears in the keyword tag for a given person, the button for edit icon is grayed out. Anyone know why this is. Is my database corrupt?

Great! This is the solution I was looking for.
Just to clarify the method:
Select a photo with the tag you want to change the icon.
Double click it in the organizer to open it on the one photo view
Click the tag of the person that you want to change the icon
The People Recognition - Confirmation dialog opens.
Select the confirmed tab.
Choose the photo that you want for the icon from the confirmed photos and drag over the current one, on the upper left corner of the dialog.
Save.

Keyword Tag Copying Not Working

When I generate keywords for a photo, and I copy these keywords (CTL-C) then try to select multiple photos (SHIFT-RIGHT CLICK), then try to paste the keywords (CTL-V), I olny have the keywords pasted to the first photo, not all selected as it was in LR2.
I wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I cannot seem to add keywords to more than 1 photo at a time.

PSE 9 Organizer Keyword tags

I have just upgraded from PSE8 to 9.
In the organizer I cannot display the keyword tag icons beneath individual images.
I tried Edit Preferences Keyword Tag and Albums - Keyword Tag display - and chose the display with the photo icon. This changes the display in the Keyword Tag listing box but not beneath the individual images. The tags are all being displayed the same and the only way to distinguish them is by running the mouse over them. Is there a way of getting the PSE8 type of display?

Back to the original question, after thinking about this for a couple days I have had two ideas for workarounds:
1) Copy my tag names into the photo metadata and create a new catalog to bring all of my images into. This will allow me to keep all of my existing tags, and it MIGHT solve the tag display problem based on a test with a couple images in a new catalog. The downsides to this are a) permanently writes my tags into the photo metadata which will be bad if I decide to change something later, b) loses all version sets, and c) loses all albums (although I don't have that many). I found instructions for this workaround at http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Merging_Catalogs.
2) Live with the lack of color tag display in Organizer, and use reverse searches to find missing tag categories. For example, if I want to find all photos that do not have a "Places" tag, I check the box next to the "Places" category (which also selects all sub-categories and tags below this). Then I go to the Options drop-down in the Find Bar and "Hide best match results" and "Show results that do not match". This gives me every image in my catalog that does not have a tag from the "Places" category, so I can go through and tag these as appropriate.
I would have gone with #1 if it weren't for the permanence of the keywords. I guess I have a commitment problem (or I just haven't got my tag hierarchy figured out yet). Instead, I am going with #2 which should give me most of what I need for now. I will still hold out some small glimmer of hope that Adobe manages a fix for this issue down the road.

HT2493 Change your icons not working

I've been trying to change a folder icon to a .jpeg image, but having followed the instructions in HT2493 I am at a loss to get this procedure to work for me. At best, the blue folder icon is replaced by the mac .jpeg image icon and not the actual image file I want to use. The instructions seemed very straightforward and I believe I followed them correctly. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Worse, I know I've done this at least once before because I have a "my stuff" folder on my desktop which has a special photo icon. Thanks for reading, and, any and all suggestions welcomed...

Got it! Thanks to Barney-15E who responded to another user with the same question. I found his reply in the archived discussion from 2009. What I was missing was opening the image in preview, then selecting the entire image and copying it to the clipboard. Then when I went to the get info panel and hilighted the folder icon I could replace it with the image file.

I have imported an mp3 to my Library. I want to keep it as media kind = podcast but no matter how often I change the tag in get info options media kind, the change will not persist.

Why don't pictures always appear in my organizer when I choose a keyword or tag?

You may not be clicking on the small arrow to the right of the tag you want to display. In PSE 11/12, you must click directly on it, rather than on the tag name itself as was done in earlier versions.

Sorry, but if you have forgotten the password for your encrypted backup, you'll have to start all over again:
Make sure that the password you use is one that you'll remember. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you won't be able to restore from backup, and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and choose set up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

Yes, the message is self-explanatory. You need a carrier who supports Apple's activation policy for an iPhone.

Keyword Tag not working properly

I'v assigned keywords to all of my pix. If I choose, for instance, from the Keyword Tag list "Lighthouse" it says there are 18 photos containing that keyword. In reality only 9 photos show up on the thumbnails. I went back to search the other nine and they definitely have the Keyword Tag "Lighthouse" in them.
This is happening to all of my keywords. 0 out of 77 show up for another Tag. 23 out of 240 for another. It varies. I did remove and reload LR.
