Change language of a pdf document

i download a pdf document and it is in french , does anyone know if i can change it in english?
is possible?
thanks

Bausch,
There are a few issues here. First, I can't find a simple way to get text from a PDF with Automator. There are some scripts that could be used to do this, I'm sure. But if it's just one PDF you want to translate, double click on the PDF to open it in Preview, Apple-A to select all text, Apple-C to copy it. Open a new TexteditDoc, Apple-V to paste. Save the document.
Apple has created a translator action, but I've had no luck in getting it to work:
http://www.automatorworld.com/archives/translate-text/
Download it and import the action into Automator. Your workflow would be:
Get Selected Finder Items (Choose the TextEdit Doc with the pasted text in it.)
Open Selected Finder Items
Get Contents of TextEdit Document
Translate Text (This will be in the TextEdit Library. Set to French>English or )
New TextEdit Document
No guarantees this will work, but it's worth a try. It it were, you could set another translate action to English>Spanish, but I think a lot would be lost in translation.

  • How do you change default settings for Pdf document viewing?

Somehow the default setting for all my PDF documents and photos is now ColorSync. How do I change the main default setting, which I think should be Safari?

The default is Preview, and you change it thus:
Select a pdf file, rightclick and select 'Get Info', in the pane that opens scroll down to the section marked 'Open With', select Preview and check the box to 'Change All'

  • How do i change a 2 page pdf document, to be a 4 page flyer..

    hi
ill try to explain this as clearly as i can.
i have got a 2 page pdf document, that has data on both sides.
i need it to be 4 A5 pages at the front and back, so it folds neatly together.
so currently it prints like an duplex A4 page, and i just wondering how i can change it to be more like the flyer i have in mind.
    hope that makes sense..
    Im using acrobat 9 pro
    Thanks
    damien

You may have to crop pages to get the effect that you want. If you have the original, it would probably be easier to edit that and create a new PDF.

  • AppleScript to batch change 'Initial View' of PDF Documents Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi
I'm struggling to write a script that takes a bunch of PDF documents and opens
those in Acrobat 9 Pro. Changes the Inital View settings (ie. Page layout = Single Page and Magnification = Fit Page)
    and saves the changes.
Is this possible with Acrobat and AppleScript?
Is there an AppleScript Reference for Acrobat?
    Appreciate your help.
    Cheers,
    Alex

Well, it says Acropbat Scripting ... didn't appear to me as Windows only.
Will move it to the Mac Forum.
    Thanks.

  • Change font in a PDF document

    Hi there!
I would like to change the font on a PDF document 'cause I have to take out some parts of it (copy into a .doc or similar)
The problem is when I do it, the original font is not recognized by text processor (stranges symbols appear).
I´m trying to change the font in Adobe Acrobat Pro, but I can´t edit It; the programm says that (not exactly, ´cause its in Spanish)
"The font change has not be done because the chosen font and the document´s fonts codification are different and It cant be solved."
Clicking on pdf´s properties, I see these fonts:
    R11
    R277
    R677
All them are "personalize" codification and type 3.
I hope some in this forum could help me, ´cause I really need to extract some text of this PDF for work stuff.
Thank you, and sorry about my bad english...

I see where you can see fonts in Acrobat 9 Pro under Document Properties.  But the poster was trying to help guide you in the right direction.  Don't be malicious towards people who are here to HELP you.
    try reading this document:

and especially this one from adobe's knowledgebase:

  • Using buttons to change language in interactive pdf

    Hi all,
I am creating a interactive pdf document which needs to be in 4 languages, I have created 4 buttons on the front page so the user can click to swap to French, German etc etc, but I want to be able to have all the relevant languages within the same document rather than importing each file in separately so it can be emailed as 1 file. How can I script this to happen and how do I build the document to contain all the language pages. I don’t have any Java script experience or can this be achieved with the standard Acrobat 8 pro toolset? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance
    Sh6

    Thankyou for your reply.
How would you set these up to work, say you have 14 pages in UK language and on some pages there are already buttons that when pressed show/hide a layer containing facts boxes. As on the front page you would want to then hide all 14 pages of the UK so they are no longer accessible, would you have an action that as you open the French which would be layer 2 an action fires to hide layer 1 which would be the UK.
I was playing around with combine pdfs so you end up with a package so you would have 14 pages x4 in each the package, then you would have a button that links to the front page of each language do packages read in Acrobat reader fine though?
    Many thanks for your help.
    cheers

  • Viewing language property on PDF document (508 compliance)

I'm currently working on a content management system that produces some PDF files to be published to external web sites. These PDF files have to be 508 compliant and one of the requirements listed by the user group is to have a Language set on the document.   Using iText I'm setting the language property to the corresponding locale and I can see the value set on an editable dropdown on my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, so far so good. Problem is, I cannot see the language code value when viewing properties on any given document on Adobe Reader.
I checked the Adobe Reader 508 compliance overview document and there is no mention of document properties such as language so I'm guessing language does not get displayed on Adobe Reader?  It isn't obvious to me why showing the language code value on the document properties would be an accessibility requirement but I just need to double check.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem-I have several papers due by Friday and so
far this is my only hang up!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I solve font changes when downloading a PDF document?

When downloading some PDF documents, the font changes.  I have tried several troubleshooting solutions, but my issue was not solved.  What can I do to prevent this from happening or if it does, to remedy the problem?

Yes, Ajlan, thank you. I solved the issue by opening PDF documents of unwanted fonts with another PDF document reader.  When I open my files folder, there is an option (drop down box) at the top that allows for me to choose from either Adobe Reader or PDF Vista.  It may have been there all along; I just didn't notice it until I recently had this issue.
    Take care :-)

  • Can't mail a pdf document

    Hi all,
I have a little bit annoying problem which occurred in a couple of days. What is the problem: we have an internal web site where people upload some pdf files and other users work on them. One user has the following problem: when he opens a pdf from the web site using Mozilla it opens his Acrobat XI Standard. He modified the file the try to send it. Unfortunately it hanged. I've tried to change the option for pdf document to be opened with Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but it didn't work. When I made a test on another workstation with 35.0.1 version and Acrobat XI Pro the default option is Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but when you open the file there is no "send to mail" option only print or save. To be sure I've saved the file to the desktop, opened again with Acrobat XI Standard and send to mail option worked like a charm. That's why i decided to ask here for a help. If you have any idea please share with me. Thanks in advance

Does this happen with other files also?
Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift ''(Mac Options)'' >''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

  • Pdf Documents change language

I have an iBook, dual boot OS 9.2.2 / 10.2.4. Recently I installed a music sequencng program which runs in OS 9. The program came with some additional documentation, which are pdf files. The files open in Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5 (which happens to reside in the OSX applications folder).
I had no problem reading the documents until this morning, when I discovered that a few of them had spontaneously switched their language to French, icon titles included. The Acrobat preferences application language is set to English. I tried trashing the preference file, rebuilding the desktop, without any change.
Does anyone know what on earth could cause this? The same documents were in English last night. (?)

Okay, I'm really going with too little sleep lately...
But I discovered that of the 23 pdf documents in this folder, 4 were duplicated in French. The document I was reading last night was was titled "VST Instruments", and the one which I opened this morning, "Instruments VST", was in French. I just didn't catch the title discrepency. 3 others had titles that were obviously in another language.
As to why these documents were mixed in with the English ones, I have no idea.
    Sorry for the post.

  • Hi. I use ExportPDF. Does Adobe support pdf documents written in Arabic Language? Does it change the documents in arabic language into microsoft word??

I have PDF documents written in Arabic. I would like to convert it into Microsoft Word. Unfortunately I am unable to do this. Please help me in my quiery. Does Adobe PDF converter support Arabic font??

    Hi Yousif04,
If your document has fonts attached you can convert to Microsoft word that is quite possible. But if the fonts were used to create the file arent present in the system the Microsoft word may not be able to retain the layout of the document.
There shouldn't be any problem for ExportPdf service to convert your document.
To check fonts used for that PDF. Open PDF either in Reader or In Acrobat. Click on File go to Properties. Document Property windows will appear there is Fonts Tab. You will the fonts embedded for the document.

  • How can I change the printing setting from head to toe to head to head, to print a pdf document

Hi everyone, I'm printing a booklet from a pdf document. I have used the two-sided option but it reverses the position of the second page.
How can I set it up  head to print what you will call in a pc enviroment: head to head?
    Thanks,

    Terence,
perhaps Dukeasooke is using mixed language settings like me.
I found that changing "Measurements Units" did not suffice, if the region is still set to Germany. I had to actually set the region in the Language & Text preferences to a country that uses "US" units in addition to ensuring that the "US" units were selected. Also, with Mavericks it is essential  to restart the system before launching iPhoto again after changing "Language & Text" preferences, or they may not take.

  • I can't save changes to my PDF document?

I downloaded a PDF document from Google Chrome onto my desktop. (It's a job application). However, every time I make changes to it, click save, and then open it up again using Preview, none of my changes have saved. Help?

No -- I installed adobe acrobat -- and now, whether I'm signed in or not -- the little disc/save icon is whited out and it can no longer be selected -- when I open a PDF I can only save it to the cloud
I am a physician, and a lot of what I look at is protected health information --- I can't be saving it in the cloud!!!  I have to find a way to disable this feature -- and restore my ability to save to my hard drive ONLY --
Thanks -- but if you can tell me those things, I'll be grateful
tried to attach screen shot to show you, but it was too big .......
