No, there isn't a way to do that. You need to logoff and back on selecting the desired language as you do.

Time Machine: Backup folder changing size when connected to different computers
Can someone please help me wrap my head around why the size of my Time Machine backup folder changes when connected to different computers? I tried to be as thorough as possible. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
I made a backup of my one laptop (MacBook Pro running 10.6.8) before installing Mavericks. The backup folder size is 258.56 GB and it is on a 1TB WD external. There are no other computers backed up in this folder.
Last night, I tried to copy the backup folder to another 1TB WD external and ran into the “you can’t do that” message. After some researching, I came across articles explaining how Time Machine handles HDs and, in order for me to copy my backup folder, the drive I want to copy the folder to needs to have the “Ignore ownership on this volume” deselected.
Okay, so here is my situation: I have the “Ignore ownership on this volume” deselected and journaling is correct on the drive I want to copy the backup folder to. So I can continue working on my laptop, I want to use a different computer to copy the backup folder from one HD to the other. The problem I’m having is each computer I own is showing me a different backup folder size O.o.
(1) The computer I want to use – a Power Mac G5 Quad running 10.4.11 (non intel) – is showing a backup folder size of 592.7 MB, but the HD shows there is 258 GB being used. When I drag copy, I only get a 592.7 MB backup folder. For some reason, the backup folder is the only folder acting this way. I compared other folders from the same and different externals and all the sizes match up perfectly no matter the computer they were connected to. How is this possible?
(2) My second option - Mac Pro (early 2009) running 10.9.4 – is showing a 256.15 GB backup folder size. Very close, but not 258.56 GB.
(3) My last option is to use the computer I’m trying to stay away from, the MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. This is the computer I backed up and is showing me the correct folder size = 258.56GB. As I mentioned, I'd like to work on my laptop while copying the backup folder using one of my other computers.
I am able to drag and drop from each computer, but the folder size depends on the computer I’m using. I don’t understand why I can't do a simple drag and drop of a 258 GB folder.
Many thanks!!The directory files that you are seeing are not real. They are links to the actual backup files that are stored in a hidden directory on the drive. If you were to look at the same drive on a pc, you would see the folders and you would a list files that are in the folders but the files would all be 0 byte files and Windows will tell you the file is empty because there is nothing there but a link which Windows does not understand.
So the point is you can't just copy the backupd files. The best solution that I know of (and maybe someone else will chime in) for copying them is to mirror the drive with something like Carbon Copy or some other program.

Unable to change permissions when connecting over SMB
As of OS 10.9, SMB2 is the default protocol when connecting two Macs running 10.9. Unfortunately, SMB2 seems to be half-baked at this time. Among the issues I've encountered, one of the more vexing ones is that it does not seem to be possible to change permissions on a remote file or directory over SMB. In Finder, the permissions section simply says "you have custom access" regardless of the file/folder's actual permissions. Even if I have full read/write access to the file/folder, I have no way to change its permissions.
chmod and chown also don't work. They don't report an error – they simply don't do anything when I run them on remote files.
If I connect to the same system via AFP, everything works fine and I can change permissions in Finder, and via chmod.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Are permissions just broken under SMB2?So the background to this situation:
1. The user had OS 10.6.8 installed on one volume, while his actual users home folders stored on a second volume, this is fine but can sometimes cause issues during/post upgrade to 10.7
2. The user upgraded to 10.7 and while his home folders were still being accessed, he no longer had permission to change or modify them.
3. The user downgraded to 10.6.4 again which broke the link for his users completely.
4. In an attempt to change the permissions for his information he had the (common) mistake of changing the permissions of his root level of his drive, this did several things, in addition to negatively effecting his OS, it also locked the drive mount points in his (hidden) /Volumes/ folder.
5. the steps taken to help rectify this issue:
A. Open Terminal.
B. TYPE:
chmod -N /
chmod 1775 /
chown root:admin /
C. Reboot computer
D. Open Disk Utility.
E. Repair permissions on the boot volume.
F. Also the following commands were run on her second drive to allow him access to his stuff again:
sudo chflags -R nouchg /path to drive/
chmod -R 775 /path to drive/
chmod -RN /path to drive/
chown -R username:staff /path to drive/
Once the permissions repair is complete the Users can be readded to the System Preferences>Accounts pane and the paths to home directories located in his second drive using the "Advanced Options..." section, but due to the time the permissions repair was going to take this step will be posted tomorrow.
Also each user will require Terminal commands to make the permissions unique for each user: (this must be done PRIOR to the users being added in System Preferences>Accounts.

Subtitles change language when using next button
Hi,
I keep having this problem. I frequently create DVDs in DVDSP 3 with multiple languages, multiple tracks, and often stories within the tracks. Everything works fine in simulator and when played back on a computer. However when I play back on DVD player, I get a recurring problem. If I am watching a video with French subtitles, and I hit next button and I happen to be at the end of the video, the DVD jumps to the first story of the next track (which is fine), but subtitles change to English. It's driving me crazy, any ideas? thanks! - Melissa

Set up menu/first play - You could just set a GPRM, lets say GPRM 0, to the value of the button pressed (1024 is 1, 2048 is 2 etc.) then at anytime thereafter have the tracks or stories execute a pre script to set the subtitle.
So the script after the button pressed would include the following (assume button1 is french, button 2, spanish, button 3 english and that subtitle streams the same order, does not have to be)
mov GPRM 0, SPRM 8 //SPRM 8 is the button that was pressed
div GPRM 0/1024 // changes 1024, 2048 etc to 1, 2, 3, etc.
And a prescript for each track would be as follows
//If button 1 (French) was selected set to stream 1 for

Button changes style when connected to Application Manager
I've connected the standard axButtons to the application manager in a custom OI built in CSharp using Visual Studio 2008. When I run the OI, the buttons change from the standard style (rounded edges, etc.) to what looks like a classic style (squared edges, no color gradient, etc.). At first I thought this might be a limitation of CSharp, but when I ran the executable CSharp UI (shipped with Teststand), the buttons look correct. Is there a reference that I've not added or something? I've followed (pretty much copied) the code found in the full-featured CSharp UI, leaving out functions that I didn't need.
Below is the only real code involving the two buttons. It's pretty simple so I imagined it's a project property that I've setup incorrectly. I've also included the namespaces I included.

Go to Solution.Scott, once again, thanks for your help. I've tried several things relating to this manifest file, all to no avail. First, I tried pasting the lines you mention into the <program>.vshost.exe.manifest file (the vshost file was the only manifest file that I could find, is this the correct one?)--no change. In the "Application" tab on the project properties, I can select create w/o manifest or embed manifest. I tried both, but from this point the original manifest file was deleted during the build process and did not show up anymore.
The project includes the windows common buttons as well as the teststand .NET controls. I assume this would accomplish the lines you mentioned, but I am a .NET newbie so I could be wrong there.
I've attached a 2008 C# Express project which includes no code, only a windows common button and a teststand button on a form. When I run this program, I see the same behavior. Can you take a look at this, and let me know if you see the same behavior?

Mavericks Calendar – Can't change calendar when connected to Exchange server
Hello,
I am migrating from Mac Outlook to Mavericks Calendar (Version 7.0 (1841.1)), but I am very used to colorizing my events so that I can understand what client a meeting is referring to at a glance. However, when I moved to the Calendar app, I no longer have that ability. After searching, I found that I could create Calendars using the File -> New Calendar tool in the menu. Unfortunately, I get a message saying that if I move an event from my default Exchange calendar the events will not longer auto-update and that reoccurring events will not change calendars.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this work or enable some way to colorize my events within the Calendar app? If not does anyone have a really good inexpensive alternative?

well you have to open the creative cloud application, click on the gear icon on the top right comer
choose preferences then click on the app tab, and then choose the language -
Change language in Acrobat XI Pro - It does not work
I installed Acrobat XI Pro using the Adobe Application Manager (AAM) on Windows 7, English. I am on a Creative Cloud subscription, so i have no .exe file to install from.
Acrobat XI Pro defaults the Application Language to English when installing from AAM since Windows is an English version. I want Acrobat XI Pro in Swedish language.
If i go to Acrobat's Preferences > Language and change the Application Language from English to "Choose at application startup" i never get the dialog that should provide me with the option to change language when i re-launch Acrobat XI Pro. If i hold down Shift-Ctrl when launching Acrobat XI Pro i don't get that dialog either.
I see the same issue on three computers, two with Win 7 and one with Win 8. Both OS versions are English.
So, how do i change the Application Language from English to Swedish?
/RogerIn case anyone else run into the same issue, here is the solution:
1. Add remove programs -> Select Acrobat
2. Then click on Change button present next to Uninstall option. Acrobat setup dialog will be launched.
3. Now select Modify option in Acrobat setup dialog
4. In the dropdown list select View Adobe PDF
5. Select the desired language support
6. Install the required language packs
When i did, i got the dialog that let me change the language next time i launched Acrobat XI.

here is the issue
my users remote control a terminal services farm, now when they changing language to English some time it change to English Upper Case and caps lock is off ! then the Alt + Shift and the go back to English lower case and if they just play with
this (i mean they just use Alt Shift over and over to try to get back to normal state when you hold shift and alt and you change to English and back to Hebrew if you hold the alt shift one more time )
i tonic some thing strange ifi hold down first the alt and then the shift this issue happen more often

here is how the normal setting should be
Alt + shift need to change to lower case English
then Alt shift one more time will go back to Hebrew

How to reload the screen when changing languages in JavaFX 2?
I'm beginner with javaFX and i need to change language of the screen. but i have no idea how to reload the screen when the language was changed. The application have a button where have the language available. I want just refresh screen when the user change language.
Here is the start method to show the stage.

Thanks and best regards!Your option 2 (reload the FXML for the scene using the new resource bundle as a parameter), is the way this would normally be done and what I would recommend.
Failing that, you could use option 1 of individually resetting the label text of labeled items (I don't really recommend this).
Why don't you want to use option 2?
Perhaps it is because there is some internal state of the UI which differs from the initial state when the the UI is first loaded (e.g. user has typed text in a text field and you want to preserve that). If that's the case you will need to either go with your option 1 of individually resetting the label text of labeled items, or implement something which preserves the UI state and user data by saving it in memory or to disk, reloading the UI via the FXMLLoader (essentially your option 2), then restoring the UI state and user data to what it was before the language change. Preserving and restoring the modified state seems complicated to me if you have a lot of state, so I wouldn't really advise this approach unless you really needed it. -
I changed language (based on an answer in this forum) from EN-GB to EN-US but my keyboard is still British (only when using FF). How can I change it to EN-US?
Should I just export my bookmarks, uninstall and reinstall the proper version? That may just be shorter than anything else.GREAT!. Thanks a lot for educating me. I have my iPhone 4s plugged into a dock and the dock connected to an amplifier with 2 speakers and a bass, the problem is that the amplifier doesn't have a volume changer and when i plug in the iPhone into the dock the iPhone´s volume bar disappears and im not allowed to change the volume and its very loud. how can i change the volume? is there an app? any ideas??(my dock doesnt have infrared remote controller )

Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement. They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device. Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now. They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original. -
My iphone 4 is not being detected by any of my computers and not charging when connected to any computer. It will, however, charge to the car or wall. The only change that I can think of is that I downloaded a podcast from itunes directly from my phone. I've since deleted this podcast with no luck. I've restarted both the phone and the computer, still no luck. One computer is running Vista and the other Windows 7, both have the latest Itunes Update. Anyone have a fix for this?
