Change Library from Managed to Reference

I currently have my library set up as Managed. The files are Canon RAW with changes. Is there a way I can change my library from Managed to Referenced. I would like to export the RAW files to a directory and still maintain the changes I have made to the files. I don't want to export the files a jpg's to maintain the changes.
Let me know if converting from managed to referenced is possible and how I can do it.
Thanks

You can move all of your masters out of the Aperture library. All of you changes and modifications will still be stored in Aperture and will still be applied to all of the associated masters. Those changes will not be seen if you open the masters through another application directly.

  • Changing library from hard drives

I have my iTunes Library on my C (Boot) drive of the computer. This drive is too full, so I copied all of my music to the D (Backup) drive of the computer. I've tried many things, but I can't fully change the library from disc.
So where I want to go to is that I can delete all my files from the C-drive, and currently the library is on both discs.
    does anyone have a solution?

I need to delete 2014's Catalog Database in order to avoid the catalog error when I try to open Lightroom after I switch drives.
This is simply not correct. You don't need to delete your catalog, in fact I think that's a horrible thing to do. If you double-click on the catalog file in your operating system, you won't get this error. Also, if you place the catalog file on the internal HD, you won't get this error when you move/change/replace your HD.
So when I replace the drive, Lightroom complains that it can't find the catalog and will not finish opening. I want to avoid the reinstalling of the application.
Re-installing the application never fixes catalog errors.
Will deleting the catalog help me correct this?
That's like shooting yourself in the foot. See above.

  • Why I can not show a Movie from my PC (VAIO Windows Vista 64Bits) to the Apple TV....I am able to see the PC from the Apple TV, but when I click on Show Library, it says " Changing Library from PC Victor Medellin"...but never show it...

When I go to AppleTV, I select the PC and click on it...It start to open the Library, sending a messege "Charging Library from Victor Medellin"  (the name of my PC) but never show it.   It send a messege " Check the Apple TV is on the same net and iTunes is turned on on PC..:"   but everything its ok.. I have tried with my wife´s PC and there is no Problem...
If I click play in a Movie and try to select the Output APPLE TV, it still thinking and never send neither the Image nor sound....What i have to check???

    Hi adtsalmon,
You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • Changing music library from broken external to a second external

My itunes library is(was?) housed in an Iomega external drive.  It's on the fritz...dunno what's up.  I back that drive up every couple of weeks to another external drive...a Seagate. Not the library per se, but all the band folders.  So, all the songs (except those since my last backup) that are in my  screwed-up Iomega are also in my Seagate # 2 external.
If I go into iTunes preferences now, it says my iTunes media folder location is : /Users/xxxxx/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
If I recall correctly, it said it was in the Iomega when the Iomega was functioning.
I have a feeling this isn't as simple as changing the iTunes media folder location in iTunes preferences to the Seagate drive.
Will iTunes magically recognize all my songs and from that point forward will all new songs go to the Seagate?
In the Seagate, songs are are housed in an "iTunes Media" folder.  If I recall correctly, that was the name of the Iomega folder, too.

All preferences does is tell iTunes where to start storing media from that point on.  It doesn't actively update your media information in iTunes.
Now you say your library was housed on the iomega.  Do you really mean that?  A library is everything in the iTunes folder including the all-important iTunes Library.itl file.  The .itl file contains all the information about tracks you have entered into the iTunes database, where they are located, your playlists, ratings, play count, etc.  If you had that on your internal drive (your "library" wasn't really on the external, only media) it may be possible to re-link the references to the actual files.  If your iTunes is no longer using that and all you are seeing right now is a blank iTunes window then you are back to building your library from scratch.  Oh, you still have the media and can add that, but all else is lost.

  • Managing library from office

Is it possible to access my library from home and delete songs or manage it when I have "free time" at the office so I don't have to do all the work while on my home PC?

I do indeed have a solution for this, and it works for both Aperture 1.1.x as well as 1.5.
In terms of my workflow: I have two copies of my Aperture library. The primary copy exists on my MacBook Pro, while the secondary copy exists on my PowerMac G5. I make all changes on my MBP, and then synchronize the library to my PM.
(Notably, the copy on my PowerMac is used for perusing only. Any changes I were to make would be overwritten the next time I synchronize from my MacBook Pro.)
In terms of implementation: I synchronize my library using the 'rsync' command-line utility. For the uninitiated, 'rsync' -- with the appropriate options enabled -- synchronizes a directory hierarchy. It does this by determining which files exist, have changed, etc., and then copies only the differences.
'Rsync' works well, however it is anything but user-friendly. Unless you are an "Uber Geek" like myself, I recommend a third-party graphical synchronization tool.
And finally, a few "gotchas" -- and disclaimers:
    * I only synchronize my library when Aperture is not running on either Mac. Otherwise, problems could occur.
    * I maintain an offline backup of the primary library, via Aperture's Vault feature. (Given that I am not using an officially-sanctioned synchronization method, I do not depend on the secondary copy as a backup. Nor should you.)
    * And finally, I want to stress that this is a one-way synchronization method. Attempting a two-way library synchronization via 'rsync' -- or any synchronization tool for that matter -- may cause irreversible library corruption!
    Comments/questions/concerns are all welcome.
    Cheers,

  • HT1751 i bought a new, larger external hard drive. copied my itunes library from the old drive to the new one, changed the libarary location in Edit/Preferences/Advanced to the new drive. iTunes will not start or run unless old hard drive plugged in.??

I bought a new, larger external hard drive. I have my iTunes library on the external drive instead of C: drive, Using Windows 7.
I copied my itunes library from the old drive to the new one, changed the libarary location in Edit/Preferences/Advanced to the new drive.
iTunes will not start or run unless the old hard drive is plugged in.
If I disconnect the old drive iTunes shuts down.
    Any ideas. ??

    Hello kskip,
Thank you for providing so much information about what is going on.  It sounds like you have setup iTunes to save new content to your new external hard drive in iTunes>Preferences, but it sounds like iTunes is not opening iTunes Library.itl file on the new external drive.  You have one last step to take to have iTunes point to your new external hard drive rather than your old one:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see the following screen:
    Additional information
If you do not see the screen above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
Once you select "Choose Library," you will need to navigate to the iTunes Library.itl file on your new external drive.
You can find the full article here:

  • Is it possible to reference a library from another shared library in weblogic 11g ?

If I have registerd library A and library B separately on weblogic 11G , is it possible to reference B from A ?  In OracleAS , we could import B into A.
Is a similar facility available in weblogic 11g ?
do libraries have their own weblogic.xml or weblogic-application.xml ? if yes, can we reference library  B in library A's weblogic.xml or weblogic-application.xml ?
    Thanks

You can probably add a weblogic deployment descriptor to the a library from which you want to refer to the other library.
So in one library you have
    libraryA.war
        /WEB-INF
            weblogic.xml
            /lib
                some-jar-files
    libraryB.war
        /WEB-INF
            /lib
                some-other-jar-files
then in the weblogic.xml you would have a library-ref element. Note that it does not really make sense to set-up your shared libraries like this, as one library somehow needs the other one. Why not in this case, make one shared library as it is easier to maintain - or refer to the two libraries in the application and WebLogic will take care of the rest.

  • After moving my itunes library from my old WinXP computer to my new Win7 computer, itunes gives a warning that my content on my phone must be removed and re-synced. I want to merge changes/updates on my phone with my itunes library as normal, not erase it

After moving my itunes library from my old WinXP computer to my new Win7 computer, itunes gives a warning that my content on my phone must be removed and re-synced. I want to merge changes/updates on my phone with my itunes library as normal, not erase it & replace it. My updates/changes will be lost.
How do I merge content on my iPhone & content in iTunes together?

Hopefully you still have the original library and can redo the migration...
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Restore single image from managed library

How does one restore a single image from a library, either managed or referenced. It seems that in Time Machine one does not have access to the individual files in a managed library as one does from the Finder.
Is my conclusion then, that in order to be able to recover individual file(s) one should use a referenced library?

The Aperture Restore from Vault as you know saves your current library and restores all managed photos from the Vault. Note, previews are not stored on the Vault so they need to be regenerated (at least that was true in Aperture 2 but I have not done a restore in Aperture 3).
Referenced images are not stored on the Aperture Library or Aperture Vault, just the adjustments you make to the image. So if your image is mangled, but you know the external referenced image displays fine, say, in Preview, then something may have gone wrong with the adjustments or raw conversion etc. You can remove all adjustments on the mangled image and see if that corrects the display problem.
If the external image itself is corrupted, then Time Machine will restore it hopefully to a prior 'good' version as you know. The contents of an Aperture Library can be individually referenced via the Finder but it's not something where you can replace any of the contents as I understand that will damage your library integrity.

I may be misreading what you are trying to do but you don't import libraries via the import window. You use File->Import->Library..
If this doesn't resolve your problem post back with more detail of what you are doing and what is happening.

  • Can you manage a single library from two Pcs with iTunes at the same time?

    Dear all,
I have a laptop and a desktop pc. Currently all my music and itunes are on the laptop. My laptop hard disk is filling up, so i want to move all the music off to the desktop. And yes i'd like to keep all the music in one location on the desktop pc. But ideally i'd like to be able to import new music to the library from both PCs, and also be able to modify the playlists and other details from both PCs. I looked at Sharing but that doesn't seem to let the non-owner to change the playlists....
Any ideas how i can set this up?
    Thanks a lot, Dave

The AE has multiple ports that can be expanded using hubs that we can hopefully connect the existing 3 TV sources, and can receive / transmit to multiple computers but can it operate the iTunes, internet distribution, and TV output (with switching TV inputs via the iMac & AE Utility) at the same time or do we need multiple AEs and another computer?
The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) does not have a TV or video output.
The AEBS, just like any other router, supports multiple clients simultaneously. Of course there is always bandwidth limitations for any device. So in theory the AEBS can support all of that. In reality the performance of each service will depend on the bandwidth used by each and the bandwidth available. This is no different than any router.

  • Changed library location to backup, deleted from main itune...problem

I changed the location of my itunes library to an external hardrive, because i'm running out of space on my macbook. I deleted 3 albums from the itunes library on the macbook and it deleted it from my ipod???
I thought if I pointed itunes to my external drive it would update my ipod this would work, however I've now copied the songs back to the main itunes directory on the mac and sync'd but it wont update the library or my ipod...even if I change the location back to the original...
Any help much appreciated as I'm desperate to run the library from my external drive to free up space on my macbook

    Thanks Chris,
I've tried this but it wont update the albums/song that I initially deleted from the original Itunes library, they are shown in the actual folder, as I initially tried to copy them to the folder and then I tried to import them.
Either way these album just will not appear in the actually itunes list.
I cant understand why these few albums do not update on my main itunes screen??
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong, I thought it should consolidate both the itunes folders and ensure it takes everything across?
