Change location of the iphone upgrade files

My PC's C: drive has limited disk space, as I use it only for operating system. But when I tried to upgrade the firmawre of my iphone 3G to version 2.0.2, the iTune download more than 240 MB data into my C: drive, and left only about 150 MB free space in my C drive which is not enough for software extraction and installation. Does anyone know how I can download iPhone upgrade file to a specified location in Window XP file system, and run from there?
Thank you very much in advance

I use an external drive for my itunes library. I am pretty sure it downloads there. You might meed to switch everything over to an external, including the itunes database. You can do this in advanced preferences.

I have 2 iPhones & an iPad under 1 Apple ID. How can I change 1 of the iPhones to a separate account?

Sign out of the Apple ID on the device in question, making sure to disable the Find My iDevice feature.
Sign in with the new Apple ID.
If the intent is to sell the device, simply restore as new after disabling the Find My iDevice and signing out.

I misplaced my iPhone and used Find My iPhone to locate it. The map showed my home and the apparent location of the iPhone which was five miles south of my home in a heavily wooded area. It turns out that was an incorrect location as I eventually found my iPhone in my office three miles in the other direction. Can anyone provide m with an explanation for the discrepancy and inaccuracy?

Just so you understand, this is not Apple.  This is a user to user support forum.  If you wish to contact Apple, you can do so here.
You can enable Lost Mode for the lost/stolen iPhone to access a array of features.  If the iPhone is locatable when it is connected to the internet, then a location will appear on icloud.com/#find.  For more information, visit here or contact Apple.

  • We used the same id for her phone an sisters iPod now everything goes to her phone is there anyway to change it on the iPhone and keep it for the iPod

We set up the iPhone with the same Apple ID an password is there anyway to change if on the iPhone am still keep it for the ipod

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

  • Unable to open the BIOS UPGRADE FILE

I have download the BIOS UPGRADE file from TOSHIBA website. My TOSHIBA notebook satellite is operating on windows vista. After downloading the zipped file of the BIOS UPGRADE i could not open it. SO my question is how to open zipped file ? I am surprised my laptop doesn't comes with the unzip program?

    Hi there,
thats unusual because a unzip-program IS integrated in Vista. But if it really does not work then download winrar (www.winrar.com) and unzip it with this program. It must work, otherwise the file is corrupted and needs to be re-downloaded.

  • MobileMe iDisk failed --- I want the iPhone as file storage

At first, yes it is nice. But why I can't save pictures from iDisk to my photo app on the iPhone? Why I can't save files from iDisk on the iPhone?
Why it isn't possible to use the iPhone as file storage? We are living in the year 2009. Since the first generation every iPod can be used as a mountable device.
Why Apple let me not save files on my iPhone by using USB?
I don't want to hack my iPhone for this feature. Wireless Apps are no solution for me?
But i feel to forced to hack my iPhone. Thank you Apple.
    At last i want say.
Apple please stop the paternalism of customers!

You may not be able to save -- this is a sync service -- but you can use the app to mail the image or file to yourself and that would make it accessible. You could also mail from your desktop of course.
The iPhone and iPod touch are not mountable and use a different OS from the other iPods. It is not a problem with the platform, it was a deliberate decision by Apple not to have this. You say that you do not want to use wifi solutions, but there are several effective solutions, like Air Sharing, Files (and Files Lite) and the recently released Documents to Go.
If you feel that there is a feature that you would like on the iPhone, why not tell Apple, by using the Feeback pages provided for that purpose and not the users. You did read the conditions when you joined, didn't you?

  • I want to change the file location for the automatic backup file bookmarks.file, but I can't find browser.bookmarks.file in the list on the about:config page.

I asked about automatic backup of bookmarks and received the following answer:You can make Firefox 3 create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML] to true on the about:config page. That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file browser.bookmarks.file] on the about:config page. I went to about:config page and toggled browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to “Yes” and it’s working. However, I want to change the file location, but I can’t find browser.bookmarks.file in the list.

The browser.bookmarks.file preference does not exist by default. Right-click in about:config and select "New > String" to create it.

  • Folder redirection with Offline files enabled - Can I change the location of the locally cached files?

I have a 2012 r2 server setup with folder redirection and offline files enabled. All this works perfectly.
As you probably know, the local cache for offline files is stored at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\
The problem I have run into is that one user (who cannot be told to delete files cough ceo cough) has a very large documents folder, and a small SSD drive for his C drive. So the offline files are filling up his SSD. He wants all his files to be synced,
so decreasing the max disk usage is also not an option.
What I would like to do is move the Offline files to his D drive which is a large drive, however I have been unable to find any official method for doing this. Is there any provision to change this?
If not, would it work to move the entire \servername\ path to the d drive and then create a junction at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\ that points to d:\servername\?
    Thanks,
    Travis

    Hi,
The following article is for Windows Vista but it should work at least in Windows 7.
How to change the location of the CSC folder by configuring the CacheLocation registry value in Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937475
Meanwhile creating a symbolic link should also work like:
    mklink /d "C:\Windows\CSC" "D:\CSC"
Note: It will create d:\csc folder so you do not need to manually create it.
Note 2: As mentioned above, you may need to re-sync the offline files. Personally I also think robocopy will not work.

  • Iphone upgrade file is too large for my network space

    Hi
Does anyone know how to set the disk location that itunes uses for non-music files. My network space is too small for the next iphones upgrade and I can't download it.
    cheers

Your network space is smaller than 240MB? If it is, that's the smallest allocated space I've ever heard of! Besides, when the update becomes available, you'll be downloading it from Apple's servers directly. If your asking for a place that you can store and then update from, you just have to hold the SHIFT key on a PC or the OPTION/ALT key on a Mac while pressing UPDATE or RESTORE and it will allow you to find the firmware file on your primary C drive or wherever you've placed it.

  • How can I copy the iPhone backup files to another iTunes Library?

I'm changing to my Window laptop from a PC. I want to copy my iPhone backup to the Library in the laptop. How can I find those backup files? I don't want to lose my apps and everything, you know.

This article will tell you where your iPhone backup is stored on your computer:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946 iTunes content is NOT part of the iPhone backup. You can either copy your iTunes library to your new computer, or you can re-download your purchased iTunes content(except ringtones) to your new computer; http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527

  • The firmware upgrade file is not supported on this hardware version MI424-WR Hardware Ver. C

Hello - I have been troubleshooting for quite some time a problem that only occurs on my wireless devices.  8 out of 10 times I fail to obtain a IP address from my MI424-WR.  My connection to the device is successful, however, DHCP times out.  I have connected to many other wireless routers in other locations in the last 4 weeks and have isolated my issue to my connection with my FIOS router.  That is to say that when I am elsewhere I do not have this problem.  I contacted support today, and the tech I spoke to was very nice and also clueless.  What is the latest/current hardware ver of the MI424-WR Verizon is shipping?  The tech said he could not tell me what ver the one he had in a lab was.  If l log into the router under firmware upgrade I notice the message in my subject.  I have had FIOS here with the same router since 9/2007.  Any help would be apreciated.

That brings up something I have been curious about...could you see if this might work for you?
-First and foremost, log into the router
-At the top click Wireless Settings
-Go into basic security settings on the left and change the channel to 11 (yes, I know this doesn't work for all but please read on) and apply
-Now back on the left side menu choose advanced security settings, enter 802.11b/g Mode
---Honestly, most people should need G only by now, but choose what you need here (avoid mixed) and apply
-Go back onto the left menu and try advanced wireless settings again but this time choose "Other Advanced Wireless Options" at the bottom
-Change MTU to "manual" and enter in "1492" in the field it provides and apply
-Now at the top right go into advanced settings
-Click on the link for "System settings"
-In here UNCHECK the "Enable Logging" and "Low Capacity Notification" options and apply
I don't think they would be able to tell you which version is being shipped, because I am sure the new routers are coming with the new firmware and the old they send out first.  But yeah, give that a shot and see if that does anything to help your wireless machines connect.  I am kind of curious if that will change anything.
