Change MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display in MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display

I bought a 15-inch MacBook a month ago, I would change the MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display in MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display... is possible? and how much will it cost?

Thanks! but there is a problem, I'm Italian and I live near Milan, and certainly I find it hard to send my mac. An Apple Store will not do this type of intervention?

  • Glossy vs Hi-Res Glossy vs Hi-Res Antiglare vs Retina Display

Which one of these display screens is better for a designer who needs to use the MBP for long periods of time, creating presentations on Photoshop and Microsoft Office PowerPoint?  Which one is kinder to the eyes?
    Glossy Widescreen Display
    Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
    Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
    Retina display

Looking at them side-by-side, the Retina display is much less glossy than the standard glossy screen, but not as 'matte' as the antiglare screen.
I just wouldn't buy a Retina display just now - all Office applications look pixelated and fuzzy, as do all Adobe CS6 applications. Rumor has it that there is a Retina display version of Photoshop in the works but Adobe has remained mum on it since it was 'previewed' at the June WWDC. I just couldn't buy a Retina just now - very few major software companies (other than Apple) have versions that support the Retina display.
If I were you, I'd go with the most beefed-up high-res antiglare MBP that you can afford. I've also added 16GB of RAM, allowing me to run dozens of RAM-hungry apps concurrently, and added a SSD, speeding up everything. I also recently added an Apple Thunderbolt Display - beautiful, functional, but glossy!

    How do I enable TDM?
Make sure both computers are turned on and awake.
Connect a male-to-male Mini DisplayPort or ThunderBolt cable to each computer.
Press Command-F2 on the keyboard of the iMac being used as a display to enable TDM.
Note: In Keyboard System Preferences, if the checkbox is enabled for "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard functions keys," the key combination changes to Command-Fn-F2.

  • Resolution problem on external display on Macbook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)

Hi there guys. I recently bought a 23inch Dell Ultrasharp display for my 15inch Macbook pro.
Max resolution I can get from the screen is 1080p. Althought, I've noticed a weird thing.
After using my screen for like 2 and a half weeks, when I started my Macbook today the external monitor had a fixed 600x800 resolution which I couldn't change from the display menu on system prefs. Actually, I don't even get any resolution options when I choose the scaled radio button. So I can't do anything.
I can't reset pram cause obviously command+option+p+r don't work regardless the way I press them (i just get the recovery screen).
And its the same thing on windows as well (using bootcamp), fixed resolution and no option to change it.
Thing is that I updated my Macbook's ram from 4 to 8gigs from crucial. At first everything was fine but again after a restart this occured again.
I opened the case and used one 4gig from crucial and the default 2gig from apple. It worked for the screen and I got back to max resolution.
Then put the 8gigs again, worked fine for 2.5 weeks and now this again.
Do you think that this has anything to do with ram or its just Mountain Lion?
    Looking forward for your help!!!
    Many Thanks, Thanos.
(forgot to mention, I'm using a minidisplay to display port cable)

    Give this a shot.

  • Windows 7 on MacBook Pro (15-inch Glossy) from 2006?

    !
I'm about to install Windows 7 32-bit on a MacBook Pro.
Would anyone help me figure out Apples definition on "MacBook Pro early 2006"?
    During 2006, Apple released:
    Macbook Pro (late 2006)
MacBook Pro (15-inch Glossy) in may (16th)
and MacBook Pro (released in january).
I have the one from May. Will it work?
    Here's a link:

I would be relieved and grateful if an answer shower up!
    Thanks!

I have exactly the same Macbook Pro as yours but mine has the matte screen. I bought mine in September 2006 but it is classed by Apple as the 'early 2006' Macbook Pro because they released the 'late 2006' Macbook Pro in October 2006, a few weeks after I bought mine :@. As I said in my post, http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2307301&tstart=0 , Windows 7 is working fine on my Macbook Pro, so it should work on yours. Good luck!

  • I would like to know why Apple doesn't have Glossy Widescreen Display on MacBook Air

I would like to know why Apple doesn't have Glossy Widescreen Display on MacBook Air ?
MacBook Air looks like a "vintage" laptop with that horrible screen frame.

Apple may consider your suggestion if you suggest it to Apple directly.

  • 24-inch Mid 2007 as external display for Macbook Pro Retina?

I'm a video editor looking for a new laptop. Tough decisions, but these facts may help my decision...
Can I use my 24-inch Mid 2007 as external display for Macbook Pro Retina?
And if so, would the Macbook be able to access the external hard drives that are connected to the iMac? Or do the external hard drives have to be connected to the Macbook Retina?
Retina's picture quality is just incredible but compared to Macbook Pro non-retina you sacrifice: disc drive, port options, customization, anti-glare screen. And its more expensive. Arghh

I would use the retina as the primary screen for the canvas and viewer, while putting the browser and timeline on the iMac.
Apple won't help here. Unfortunately, they leave they're old products in the dust and wouldn't waste time writing an article about connecting a macbook retina to an '07 iMac.
Thank you for replying though Ralph. The answer has to be out there somewhere.

  • My 27" Display and MacBook Pro

    Hi Group!
Not sure if this is the forum for this. I posted this in MacBook Pro as well, just in case.
    I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) running 10.5.8, and a new 27" Apple Cinema display.
I am having a heck of a time getting my Desktop to display on the monitor when I drop the lid on it. All i get is a black screen. The only way I found to get this to work is, i have to drop the lid first, wait for the Apple logo to dim, then plug in the mini display cable from the monitor. Wait a second or 2, and then click the mouse.
Is this how it's supposed to be done?

Is the display's USB cable connected to the computer?
10.5.8 could be a problem. There was a display software update for older OSX versions to use the 27", but iI don't think it would work on Leopard.

  • Sound Switches Between Thunderbolt Display and MacBook Pro

I have an Apple Thunderbolt display and MacBook Pro set-up with dual screens. I have an iPhone plugged into a dock that runs to the display. When I have music playing out of the display and I disconnect my iPhone, it switches the sound to the MacBook Pro.
    1. How do I stop this from happening?
    2. If I can't stop it from happening, how do I move the sound from the MacBook Pro back to the display?
There doesn't seem to be any options within Preferences/Sound to change it back.
    Thank you.

I've a Spyder4Elite that I use on both my Thunderbolt Display and on my MBP - and, while both are calibrated, they don't - and cannot - 'match' one another, no matter how hard I try.
I suspect that you're running up against the same wall? Different technologies in different displays. I doubt that you'll ever get a perfect match: mine are just 'good enough'.

  • No waveform display on macbook pro retina,

I can't see  any waveform displays after I record a new audio track  when using Logic Pro X on my 1 year old macbook pro retina.  I see the waveform as I'm recording, but as soon as I hit "stop" it flatlines. The audio is still there, it's perfectly audible on playback and if I bounce or export the track and re load it, the waveform shows up as visual display, but the original recording won't show the waveform no matter how I zoom or what view I try. It just isn't being displayed. This only happens  on my macbook pro retina, not on my iMac. Thoughts?

In Logic: make sure  Preferences/Audio   "Recording Delay"  is set to  0  (zero)
This can sometimes change after importing a Logic 9 project, or it may have been accidently changed.

  • Will Windows 7 Pro run with 16GB of Ram in Macbook Pro Early 2011 13-inch?

Will Windows 7 Pro run with 16GB of Ram in Macbook Pro Early 2011 13-inch?, Does the brand of the Ram matter ?
I installed Crucial 16 gb and the Mac runs just fine but Windows won't start. It gets to the login screen then it turns white.

I decided to make another try today after some reading and googling the internet.
I started windows with my old 4GB memory and changed the bootconfiguration with msconfig. I typed manually in max memory tp 16384 MB and saved the settings. Then I turned it off and inserted the 16GB ram again. Then it started really but when looking at the properties of my computer it says 16 GB installed but I can only use 2,16GB. So I opened msconfig again and changed the settings once more and restarted. Now it says 16GB installed but I can use 14,2GB so I guess it is ok now for some strange reason. I suppose the lost 1,8GB is for the system ?? Do I dare to turn it off again :-) what will it say next time ?
I am so happy and greatful for all your help, I really really appreciate it and I hope my solution will come to use for someone else with same problem.
    Thank You all :-)

  • Are the new displays for MacBooks only - Options for a Mac Pro User?

I am currently running 23 inch displays in our small design studio (4 workstations). I need a new or a second display for my own Mac Pro. I hate the new 24 inch display. I cannot imagine running Final Cut Studio on this glossy screen. So is anyone else out there in this situation? Looking for other choices? I want to stay in the Apple line up if possible but now I am even looking at Dells, as I feel Apple will only continue with the glossy screens.
Are any pro-users in video or photography using the new 24 inch displays? and I mean users who do this for a living. Thanks everyone?

    Hello!
Sorry it took a while to notice your post. There are two options for your mac pro to use the new 24 inch cinema display. The ATI Radeon 4870 HD has the mini-display port on it, and the Nvidia GT120 also is an option. Personally, I'd go with the 4870 as its a much better graphics card.
You can find them on the Apple store's site under DISPLAYS/Graphics
    Hope this helps.
Now, just to clear something up. If you have a 2008 mac pro, you can run the GT120 if you prefer.

  • How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver. I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. thanks

How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver? I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. (ps, this is my first time posting a question, so I hope I can find your answers!) thanks, JP downunder

For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA  audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver.  Use something like this:
