Change Margins in pdf file

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 7.0.8 with a WindowsXP system. I have been sent a manuscript in pdf that has incorrect margins. How do I move the entire script over .25 inch to the left. I have searched the support database and tried to use the crop feature recommended but must be doing something wrong because I am not getting the result I need.

Hi Linda,
You are in the wrong forum with this one.
I think that you need to be in the Acrobat forum.

  • How to change Margins in PDF?

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am evaluating 8.0 Professional on my pc (XP SP2 w/ 3.5GB of RAM and 2.5GHZ CPU). I want to see if the Professional can modify margins of pdf files that I get from various places but I am not finding anything in the documentation or via google. This should be an easy thing to do, like in MS Word you go to "Page Setup" and change the margins. I cannot find this functionality in Acrobat 8.0. Can someone please tell me how to modify the margins? The document in it's present configuration wastes paper and leaves alot of it blank when it could be printed on. Trying to be a conscientious worker by not wasting paper and Acrobat is not cooperating with me.
    Thanks,
    Erik

    Dear Dimitri,
That is super - a simple command.
I just wish the folks at Adobe would do the same for those doing printouts.  When you are dealing with historical documents, many taken from microfilm, generally there is no consideration as to binding margins.  If one wants to wax philosophical on this, while technology changes ever so rapidly, one thing that is always viewable is the printed page or photo.  A classic exanple of technological change is sound recording.  We started out with cylinders.  Next came records, first 78 rpm, then 45 rpm for individual songs and 33 rpm for longer pieces.  Casette tapes and 8-track tapes were next, followed by CD's.  Now we have mpegs.  The conundrum was exemplified in one of the early Superman movies, wherein the history of Krypton was recorded on green crystals.  Technology is constantly changing, which compromises the ability to play back what has been recorded in the past.  At the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, MD, some of the researchers' copies of motion pictures are on antique 1" Beta tapes.  The machines to play these, antiques in and of themselves, are in terrible shape.  The primary copies, however, are still on film, although one wonders how long these, too, will last.  I presume that these are stored under refrigeration.
We can see the issue in condensed time with the development of computer operating systems and software.  While Microsoft has generally attempted to provide retroactivity, a document written in the newer versions of Office may be a .docx, whereas older software doesn't recognize this.  Fortunately, most friends are willing to downgrade their copies so I can read them.  Support for Windows XP will eventually vanish.  While this OS can continue to be used by those that have it, replacing peripherals such as scanners and printers may make this problematic.
But, actual photos and printed pages are readable with the Mark 1 eyeball, regardless of how they are produced.
    Regards,
    Richard

  • How do you change orientation of pdf file to fill and sign?

how do you change orientation of pdf file to fill and sign?

Adobe Fill & Sign does not yet have a feature to rotate PDF pages but there are several websites that will rotate a PDF for free and then you can bring that PDF with correct orientation into Fill & Sign to fill out.  Any of the top hits when you google "rotate PDF free" will work.

  • How do I change page margins on pdf file on acrobat?

    Hi there
Could someone please help me. I need to change the page margins on a pdf file using adobe acrobat.  The page size is 7" by 10" which I have been able to change.  I need to change the page margins to:
    Left - .75"
    Right - .25"
    Top - .25"
    Bottom - .25"
I know it is probably something really simple but I just can't figure it out.
    Thank you for your help

Not simple at all. Actually, Acrobat isn't built to do this type of thing. You would want to make those changes in the original document and create a new PDF.
The main problem here is that Acrobat will not reflow the text as the margins grow.

  • How can I change an Adobe .pdf file to a .jpeg file?

I have a .pdf file and the program I need to upload the file to only accepts .jpeg files.  Can I change the .pdf to a .jpeg?

    Not using Reader alone no.
You could take a snapshot and paste it into an image application, you could open it in Photoshop and save as a .jpg or you could use save as .jpg from Acrobat.

  • How to change numbers of PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended #9

I just combined 3 PDF files that had their own numbering into one. I have searched how to change this file into a consecutive numbering with no success. I do the steps outlined to open the Number options, but when filling in the blanks, and making choices, nothing changes on the pages ... just in the thumbnail section.
    HELP!

Post your question in a forum for Acrobat. Adobe Reader can't change page numbers.

  • Why do changes to a .pdf file not show up in iBooks?

I have a number of important and useful documents in .pdf format that are stored in iBooks on my iPad.  I added a new document to the iTunes library and then synced the iPad.  Voila!  The new document showed up in the PDFs section of the iBooks collections.  Then, I recognized that I needed to update some information in the document, so I opened the original (on my Mac) in Adobe Acrobat and added a few comments using the Typewriter tool.  I then reimported it to the library in iTunes, then synced the iPad again.  My added material was not in the document as it appeared in iBooks.  OK, I deleted it from iTunes, synced the iPad again and the file was gone from iBooks, as I intended.  I then reimported the new file with the added material into the iTunes library and synced again.  The file still did not show my added material.  I can look at the file in iTunes, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, even Preview and the file looks fine.  I even changed the file name.  The only place it does not look right is in iBooks.  I can print it in any of the aforementioned applications and it looks fine.  I suppose I could print it, scan it and then import it to iTunes yet again, but that seems to be kind of a stupid workaround.
I have done everything I can possibly think of.  I have deleted the file from iBooks on the iPad, then deleted the file from iTunes, restarted, burrowed into the iTunes Library file (Users->myname->Music->iTunes->iTunes Music->Books->filename) and deleted the file directly from there and then emptied the Trash, restarted the iPad after deleting the file from iBooks, tried adding the information as a text box in Acrobat (instead of using the Typewriter), I've shaken my fist repeatedly, burned some white sage, even considered throwing my iPad across the room.
In desperation, I finally printed and scanned the page I needed, then opened the original file in Acrobat, added the new page and deleted the old one.  Then, I reimported the file into iTunes and synced the iPad.  Now I have what I need with the same file name as before.  It's actually the same file, just modified by swapping pages.  But, why in the **** can I not just add what I want to that particular page using Acrobat and then reimport that?
I am not a newbie.  I still have my old Mac Plus out in the garage.  I use Acrobat, Photoshop, Bridge and InDesign on a regular basis, so I am no stranger to Adobe products.  Am I missing something?  Something unbelievably simple?
    (OK, deep, cleansing yoga breath...)
Even though I found a workaround, I'd still like to know why I couldn't do what I wanted to do.

Thanks, Demo, I'll give that a shot. On the other hand, I really don't want to have some files in iBooks and other ones in Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader will let me organize them in folders, it might be a great solution.
However, there's no ".pdf management" involved here. It's simply "Read the #%€\#^% .pdf file I gave you" and there is nothing to "manage". Whatever opinions Apple has about Adobe, .pdf is a fact of life and should not require any handstands and backsprings just to read a file. (Are you listening, Apple?) I refinanced my home with .pdf files; print it, sign it, scan it, e-mail it back. (OK, calm down, it'll be all right... Sigh...)
Whatever the result, I'll report back.
    Thanks again.

  • ? How do you change default for .pdf files from Reader 6 to reader 9

I cannot change the default for .pdf files from reader 6 to reader 9. Also I cannot remove reader 6. I am running Vista

Normally, completely removing old versions and reinstalling the latest version will reassociate all applicable extensions for the program, but it appears to have failed in your case.  There may be something else going on with your machine that is producing this behavior.  You probably need to investigate that.  But what you can do to make sure the defaults are correct is click on the start orb and select 'Default Programs.'  Then select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program.'  From the list of file types, select each of the following in turn: acrobatsecuritysettings, fdf, pdf, pdfxml, pdx, xdp, and xfdf.  If its default program is not Adobe Reader, click on the Change Program button and select Acrobat Reader from the list (you may need to expand the lower section to display more programs than it initially provides).  If Adobe Reader does not show up in the list, you will have to browse for it.  It should be located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10\Reader\AcroRd32.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10\Reader\AcroRd32.exe.
This method is safer than manually editing the Root\Classes in the registry.

  • The pdf font quality changes if another pdf file is open, for pdfs generated by Latex Beamer

    Hi There,
I create pdf presentation files using Latex Beamer. I see a strange behavior when I open the file with Adobe reader to read it. If another pdf file is already open, the quality of the font is good but the shadow of the boxes disappears. If no other pdf file is open, the shadow box is good but the font has a low quality.
Does anyone know about this problem?
    Thanks
    Kaveh

    Kaveh,
I am having a similar issue with PDFs i create from Photoshop and added links in Acrobat.  The quality of the text was changing on me and I hadnt realized it was when I had more than one PDF open.
Please let em know if you come to any resolution on this.
    Thanks,

  • How do I reopen and change an existing pdf file

I have pdf files in acrobat.com
I want to make changes to an existing file.
Can you do this or do you have to rewrite the whole file?

    Hi donk58183198,
You can edit files that you've stored in your Acrobat.com online account, but you need to download them first. Log on to https://cloud.acrobat.com/files and select the file that you want to download, then click Download at the top of the file list.
Your file will download to the Downloads folder on your computer. To edit a PDF file, you'll need to use Acrobat (not Reader). You can download a free 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Ibooks changes name of pdf file

When I open a pdf file in ibooks it sometimes changes the name to a bunch of characters nothing like the name of the pdf file. how do I fix this?

    Hi,
Saving the PDF to a set name is considered a security concern by Adobe. In order to achieve it you would need a trusted function, inside a JavaScript file. This .js file would be in a set folder on EVERYONE'S computer. This makes it difficult to deploy and maintain.
    See a thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2266799#2266799.
    Hope that helps,

  • Changing an unprotected .pdf file.

I saved a .pdf file that I downloaded from a web site. It has no security. I'd like to change it and create my own version of the text rather than retype the entire document. The document was produced byy Acrobat Web Capture 5.0. I can highlight the text but I can't modify it!
When I look at the document security, everything is allowed, including Changing and Copying/Extraction.
    I have Acrobat V5.0.
