Change margins to inches

How do I change the margins to inches when setting up my brochure?

When you create a new InDesign document, just enter inches in the margin fields either as 1in or 1" (for 1 inch). When you leave the field it'll show the equivalent picas or points.
If you want to force InDesign to always use inches, select Preferences from the Edit menu, then select General. You'll see the dialog used to set Preferences. Go to the Units & Increments settings. You can change the units used to Inches and that will be the default in the future.

  • How do I change Margins to Inches, mine are millimeters?

I have margins set to Millimeters, have changed all to US since I had it set to Canada - I need inches for my margins?
I am sure I answered a wrong question when setting up Firefox but now I can't undo my error.

{ Ctrl + P }, then make sure the correct printer is selected, then open Properties <br />What type of Paper is selected? <br />
Letter + Legal will have inch measurements, whereas A4 + other "A" papers will have metric measurements appear for margins.

  • Change margins on print preview screen from metric (millimeters) to inches

I need to adjust the margins when printing a page from the web. The print runs off the bottom of the page. When checking in print preview, the margins are in millimeters. Would like to change that to inches (which i am more familiar with). Where can i change the settings from metric to inches.

{ Ctrl + P } then Properties = do you have '''letter''' size paper selected or '''A4''' size? <br />
A4 is a bit longer than Letter size paper.
From what I have seen on my PC's, you get millimeters with metric size paper and fractional measurements with US paper sizes.

  • HT3384 How do I change margins and header footers on a pages document?

Hi can anyone help me on how do I change margins and header / footers on a pages document?
    Many thanks

Oddly, when one enters text that is a paragraph string longer than the width of the the page, the text doesn't wrap. There seems to be something a bit wonky with the margins, but perhaps it's something else. I fiddled with styles to see if I could control it, but to no avail. I'm giving up and boing back to '09. Each time I think I'll switch to iWork 5, I encounter some other restrictive feature that sends me scurrying back to '09.

  • Change margins + object move with margins

    Hello!
We have a catalogue with 300+ pages!
Margins size for that catalogue are:
    Top: 18 mm
    Bottom: 18 mm
    Indise: 12,7mm
    Outside: 12.7 mm
Margins Inside and outside must to be change to 20 and 15 mm
After i change the margins, the objects(incl. contet, tables, text.... etc) is not move with new margins size!
Enable Layout adjusment.. it is not working like I want.
How can i change Margins and all object to move with new margins size?
    Thank you in advance!

If the objects are not currently snapped to guides they will not move reliably. If they are all athe same distance from the current margins, however you can, with Layout Adjustment off, change the margins so they snap, then enable layout adjustment and change the margins to where you really want them.
Other than that, you need to do your moving object-by-object. If they all need to move the same amount it's probably scriptable, and you should ask in the scripting forum for help: InDesign Scripting

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
What do you have set for measurements system-wide in System Preferences > International > Formats > Measurement Units (the very bottom of the preference pane)? My guess is it is set to US rather than metric.

  • How to change margin value in mode booklet printing Adobe Reader X ?

How to change margin value in mode booklet printing Adobe Reader X ?

Is this a form you created in Acrobat or is it a form that you're using with Reader? If the latter, there's nothing you can do if the field has been set up to format the field with a £ for the currency symbol.

how do you change margins in numbers?

Actually you can change the margins.  I cut-and-pasted this from another thread.

    Hi Sammy,
Numbers 3 has lost some features that were great in Numbers 2 (Print View and Layout View). Now we must use File > Print... > Print Setup. But it is now better in Numbers 3.2
Numbers 3.2 has restored some layout features. See the Print Setup panel on the right in Print Preview:
Drag the Print Setup panel up to see Page Margins settings.
Numbers has never had Page Breaks or Print Selection. That is an Excel requirement for Excel's huge sheets.
The Numbers approach is to use separate tables on a "canvas". Each table has a purpose. Input, database, number-crunching, summary. These tables can be on separate sheets. Print only the sheet that is your "presentation".

  • Problems with changing margins in pdf

I am new to creating Adobe forms.  We are a law firm and uses ProLaw case management software.  I am starting to create Adobe fillable forms to be imported into ProLaw as fillable forms.  The problem I am having is I cannot change margins in the Adobe form.  I went to Print and Page Setup, but the area to change margins is grayed out, no matter what paper size I choose.
Is there a setting our IT people need to change in order for me to be able to change margins in the Adobe document?
    Thank you for any help.
    Karen Fonseca

    Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for your reply.  I feel like a fish out of water.  I have gone to the crop tool, and it says to click and select area and then double click to crop.
My document's left margin is now 1" and I need it at .5.  My right margin is fine at .5.   By cropping the "space" on the left, it will reduce the margin?
    Thanks again,
    Karen

Bummer! The only way I have ever been able to get rid of the dreaded twirling ball was to reboot....with the exception of one time only, when it actually was some super techie issue that was only resolved when they looked at it and did their magic.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

  • Unable to change margins in Pages 5.2

Hello - I am drafting a resume using one of the Pages templates. I would like to change the right margin so that there is more room for text (less white space on the right side), but am unable to do so. The ruler slide will move to make the margin WIDER, but not NARROWER, which is what I want. I have tried:
    1. "unlocking" the document via the Arrange menu (not an option);
    2. changing the document margins via the Inspector/Document menu - right margin is already set to zero, but the space on the actual document is a couple inches wide;
    3. changing the column width via the Format/Layout menu - each time I try to do this, the width immediately reverts to what it was prior to my changing it.
This is maddening. As much as I love Mac, I feel Pages is not very user friendly, and that's coming from someone with and advanced education who is fairly computer literate. If possible, I would prefer not to have to make a whole new document. Help? Thanks.

PeterBreis0807- Sorry for the MUCH delayed reply. Family matters required me to relegate this to the back burner. I'm back in the resume game again and still have this issue. Below is the screen shot showing the wide right margin I'd like to change. Any thoughts? Thank you!

  • Set margin in inches

I am having a problem with Pages on iWork. When I want to set the document margins, it's in cm. I've had word processing programs before, and all are in inches. Is there a function or something through Pages in which I can change cm to in.

Under the Pages menu, select Preferences.
There's an option for Ruler Units, which is also used by the Inspector for many of the fields that use units.

  • How to change Margins in PDF?

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am evaluating 8.0 Professional on my pc (XP SP2 w/ 3.5GB of RAM and 2.5GHZ CPU). I want to see if the Professional can modify margins of pdf files that I get from various places but I am not finding anything in the documentation or via google. This should be an easy thing to do, like in MS Word you go to "Page Setup" and change the margins. I cannot find this functionality in Acrobat 8.0. Can someone please tell me how to modify the margins? The document in it's present configuration wastes paper and leaves alot of it blank when it could be printed on. Trying to be a conscientious worker by not wasting paper and Acrobat is not cooperating with me.
    Thanks,
    Erik

    Dear Dimitri,
That is super - a simple command.
I just wish the folks at Adobe would do the same for those doing printouts.  When you are dealing with historical documents, many taken from microfilm, generally there is no consideration as to binding margins.  If one wants to wax philosophical on this, while technology changes ever so rapidly, one thing that is always viewable is the printed page or photo.  A classic exanple of technological change is sound recording.  We started out with cylinders.  Next came records, first 78 rpm, then 45 rpm for individual songs and 33 rpm for longer pieces.  Casette tapes and 8-track tapes were next, followed by CD's.  Now we have mpegs.  The conundrum was exemplified in one of the early Superman movies, wherein the history of Krypton was recorded on green crystals.  Technology is constantly changing, which compromises the ability to play back what has been recorded in the past.  At the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, MD, some of the researchers' copies of motion pictures are on antique 1" Beta tapes.  The machines to play these, antiques in and of themselves, are in terrible shape.  The primary copies, however, are still on film, although one wonders how long these, too, will last.  I presume that these are stored under refrigeration.
We can see the issue in condensed time with the development of computer operating systems and software.  While Microsoft has generally attempted to provide retroactivity, a document written in the newer versions of Office may be a .docx, whereas older software doesn't recognize this.  Fortunately, most friends are willing to downgrade their copies so I can read them.  Support for Windows XP will eventually vanish.  While this OS can continue to be used by those that have it, replacing peripherals such as scanners and printers may make this problematic.
But, actual photos and printed pages are readable with the Mark 1 eyeball, regardless of how they are produced.
    Regards,
    Richard

  • How to change margins in Numbers 3.0

How do I change the page margins in Numbers 3.0 MacBook Pro App?

    Hi Themonkeycode,
unless they moved it from where it use to be...
It has gone in Numbers 3.0 and Numbers 3.1. Maybe it will return in future versions. Please give feedback to Apple:
Menu > Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback.
Downloading Numbers 3 did not replace Numbers '09. Unless you deleted it, it is in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. It works just as well as it used to.
