Change Media Kind from music to audiobook for multiple files

I was able to change the files one at a time but...
I was unable to "Change/edit media kind" from music to audiobook when selecting more than 1 file.
This fixed it
I just updated Itunes to 11.2.2 and it now works just fine. Make sure you have the most recent version of Itunes.

After more digging in the Support section here and some Google work, I turned off iTunes Match and lo and behold!  I can change the media kind to Audiobook!  So, it looks like iTunes Match locked the files up somehow and for some reason.
I went into iTunes Store > iTunes Match > "No, Thanks" to disable it on the local PC.

  • I can't change info (options) from Music to AudioBook

    When I record an audiobook it is recorded under music. Once it is recorded I was always able to change the options from Music to Audiobook  by using 'Get Info' options.  I can do this with some CD's but not others.  Also if an Audiobook has 5 CDs I used to be able to change all 5 at one time from Music to Audiobook.  Now this doesn't work at all.  I was running Itunes 10 on Windows 7 but now am running Itunes 11 on Windows 8.  I don't know if it's the itunes verson or the platform.  Anyone out there know how to force this change?
    Thanks,
    Vicki

    Check to see if iMessage is activated. Also, make sure the other party has iMessage activated. Sending an iMessage requires both parties, the sender and the receiver to have an active internet connection. If iMessage is active, the check your Send & Receive and make sure your phone number is checked. After that, you may need to delete the conversation that you have with that contact, however I've not experienced that when I have an individual send problem with a contact. It will usually pick up that they are connected to data again.

  • Cannot change media kind in itunes 12 - audiobook

    Hi
    Before the update i could add an audiobook to itunes from my laptop, windows 8.1. The audiobook got into musicfiles, then i marked all the files/songs, went to info and changed from music to audiobook. Viola and i could find my audiobook in that categori.
    That is no longer possible! I can still go to info, but the only option in media kind is "music"
    I have tried with severel audiobooks, but same result. I also tried when i wasn't logged on to Itunes, and then i could change media kind, but when i logged on, nothing changed.
    Sorry for the spelling and grammatics errors. From Denmark.

  • Changing Media Kind To Podcast

    Hi,
    I have downloaded some free podcasts from Soundcloud but they are not going into my podcast tab in iTunes. I have clicked
    'Get Info" and changed media kind to Podcast but it just disappears from my library and seems to go missing. It still plays from "Recently Added" Playlist but doesn't show in Podcasts tab or Music Tab. Can anyone explain why?
    Thanks
    Matt

    I'm also unable to change a couple of files' media kind from 'Music' to 'Podcast', no matter how much info I include.  I can change the media kind to 'Audiobook' and they appear in the "Books" section, but if I change it to 'Podcast' and click OK they remain in "Music", and when I check the info the media kind has reset to 'Music'.  Very frustrating.
    Ironically, they were podcast episodes I had to purchase through iTunes as I accidentally deleted the original downloads.  They downloaded as music not podcasts (since they were purchased, not "subscribed" to) and when I tried to change their media kind to 'Podcast' I had the above problem, but after the first try it simply greyed-out the media kind drop-down.  I then re-encoded them as MP3s thinking that the protected MPEG-4 files wouldn't allow a change in media kind, but after the re-encode I've had the above problem.  I just want to put them with the rest of the podcasts in the series/season.

  • Viewing Podcast Descriptions on iPod Classic after Changing Media Kind to Podcast

    Hi,
    I have spoken word mp3 episodes as Media Kind: Music that I want to listen to on my iPod Classic 120 GB as Podcasts mainly because I want to be able to view the episode description of each to see the content while choosing which to listen to.
    I have all the meta data entered, including the Description, for each episode, and in iTunes 11.0.1 OS X, I change the Media Kind: from Music to Podcast. The episodes go into the Podcast Menu fine and I can see the Description for each episode in iTunes.
    However, when I sync my iPod and the Podcasts sync successfully to the device, each of these episodes is treated by the iPod as music in that when I press the center button to cycle through to the Description, the cycle sequence is like it is Music and the Description is not shown--it goes from Rating to the main screen and skips the Description.
    Does anyone know if this is an iTunes or an iPod Classic issue, or if I (likely) am just missing something simple to be able to view the Descriptions.
    I can get the Podcasts published successfully with the descriptions shown on the iPod using Typecast, but I have descriptions entered for a couple of dozen episodes already and I didn't want to have to do it all again if there was a simple fix.
    Thanks!!

    The information you refer to is carried in the feed, not embedded into the media file, so the only way of keeping it is by entering it into the 'Comments' tag yourself in the Info pane. Unfortunately you can't copy the text you see when you click the 'i' button, so you would either have to type it all in manually or download the feed and extract the text from there.

  • Track inaccessible on iPod after changing "Media Kind" to "podcast"

    I had downloaded some mp3 of an NPR piece, which was on my 5th generation iPod Nano as a music track. In iTunes, under "Music" under my iPod, I clicked "Get Info" on the track, went to the options tab, and changed the "Media Kind" to "Podcast". The track immediately disappeared. I now have no way to access it! It's not listed under Music or under Podcasts, either through iTunes or on the iPod itself after I eject it.
    I thought maybe the file was somehow deleted off the iPod. I decided to test this by first noting the capacity that iTunes shows for my iPod -- 7.12 GB audio, 145.7 MB other, 91.1 MB free. Then I picked an MPEG song file that I didn't particularly care about on my iPod, and changed the "Media Kind" from "Music" to "Podcast". Again, it disappeared. The capacity numbers didn't change.
    This seems really bad: my iPod is now burdened with at least two sound files that I cannot access, even to delete!
    I am using "manually manage music and videos" on this iPod and I would really like to avoid wiping the iPod of the exact set of songs I like on it!

    I'm having the exact same problem.
    Latest software on all devices (Mac).

    You posted to the wrong forum.    I've asked this be moved.  iBook in Notebook forum refers to Apple's pre-2007 consumer notebook.  Since I don't use the eBooks Apple sells, someone else in the correct forum should answer when this thread gets moved to:

  • I want to change audiobook from music to audiobook

    In the other versions of iTunes I could change a ripped audiobook from music to audiobook and it was synced and handled differently than music.  When I go to these files in iTunes 12 the list is there but changing it to audiobook does nothing. The audiobook remains in music and doesn't move over to the audiobook section.  How can i fix this?

    Hi Memalyn
    Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
    My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
    If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
    Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
    Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • How can I correct a file moved from music to audiobook ?

    I moved files from music to audiobooks. One audiobook has combined chapters 7 and 2 instead of creating two separate "books."  How can I split off one of those chapters into a separate book?
    I need to add that I have not figured out how to merge all chapters into one book yet.   I am elated to just get those books out of the music category.  For the time being, I can live with each chapter showing up as a sort of separate book.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    What will be downloaded to your Mac is an Installer app named Install OS X Mountain Lion (or something to that effect) which you will find in the Applications folder. Copy that to a backup media or another Mac.

  • Can't find mp4 file after changing media kind setting to podcast

    I recently imported some home videos into iTunes.  The default "media kind" is movies so I changed to podcast b/c I didn't want to mix home videos with movies when surfing through lists on my Apple TV.  After chaning the media kind setting now I can't find the file in iTunes.  Any idea on how I can update the media kind info so I can see the file again in iTunes on my Windows PC?

    maybe the features of the usb port is controlled by the routers setup page most routers have some ip address you type into a browser and login to the router to set them up try that
    because some routers have usb for external hd some for printers some only for firmware updates (like the Apple TV (which of cause are not routers but have usb connector for the sole purpose of upgrading a crashed firmware))

  • Is there a way to simultaneously add text to Comments field for multiple files?

    Is there a way to simultaneously add text to Comments field for multiple files? I know I can use Option+Comman+i to bring up the Inspector window but it doesn't have a Comments field. For example, in iTunes you can select multiple files and change metadata for any field simultaneously and easily yet when it comes to the Comments field in the Finder, this seems to be missing.
    In our production environment, Comments field is important because we place notes about what drive the file originated then when it gets transferred to LTO-6 tape via LTFS, we can quickly trace it in the event we needed to recreate the hard drive. Because tape archiving is linear, we can't store all of the files on the same tape.
    We've tried using Apple's Automator but it too seems to not have a way to batch change text in the Comments field. Any help is appreciated.

    What is "order data"?

  • The file size of selected file in input file control is shown as 0 for multiple file selection in Safari 5.1

    The file size of selected file in input file control is shown as 0 for multiple file selection in Safari 5.1. If you select single file, then it is able to return file size correctly. However, if you select multiple files, then the file size of each of the selected file is always returned as 0 from javascript. This works correctly in Safari 4.0 but it does not work in Safari 5.1.
    How do I get the correct file size in Safari 5.1 ?

    If you want to post (or send me) a link to the lrcat file, I'd take a look at it for you, and give you a break-down what's consuming all the bytes. But it might be fun to learn how to do that yourself (e.g. using SQL). I use SQLiteSpy, but other people have their favorites.. (or you can use a command-line client if you prefer..). One way: just run "drop table "{table-name}" on each table then look at filesize (do this to a copy, not the real thing).
    Anyway, it's hard to imagine keywords and captions etc. taking much of the space, since even if you had 1000 10-character words of text metadata per photo average that still only adds up to 117MB, which isn't a substantial portion of that 8G you're seeing occupied.
    Anyway, if you've painted the heck out of most of them and not cleared dev history, that'll do it - that's where I'd put my money too...
    One thing to consider to keep file-size down:
    ===================================
    * After reaching a milestone in your editing, take a snapshot then clear edit history, or the top part of it anyway (e.g. leave the import step), using a preset like:
    Clear Edit History.lrtemplate
    s = {
        id = "E36E8CB3-B52B-41AC-8FA9-1989FAFD5223",
        internalName = "No Edit",
        title = "Clear Edit History",
        type = "Develop",
        value = {
            settings = {
                NoEdit = true,
            uuid = "34402820-B470-4D5B-9369-0502F2176B7F",
        version = 0,
    (that's my most frequently used preset, by far ;-})
    PS - I've written a plugin called DevHistoryEditor, which can auto-consolidate steps and reduce catalog size - it's a bit cumbersome to use a.t.m. but in case you're interested...

  • Struggling to search for multiple files

    Hi there,
    I am struggling to do a search / select for multiple files.
    Here is my workflow:
    I have 2 computers, the one is used for all image manipulation using a combination of LR & PS and the other computer is used for the sales presentation using ProSelect.
    Once I am finished with my post production I export all the images to my sales presentation computer in JPG file format.
    After the sales presentation I then want to be able to Star the images they purchased on my post production computer. Currently I have been doing this manually, although time comsuming not too bad when you are only talking 20 images. However this is not working for weddings when looking at 150-200 images.
    This is what I have tried. I did an export of filenames from ProSelect. I then removed the suffix i.e. .jpg. In Lightroom I select the Filter Bar, Text, Any searchabe Text, Contains and then paste in the list of filenames. After quite a while it will come back and say no images found or it might come up with only the 1st image in the list. I have tried several combinations of formating the list of filenames and none seem to work i.e. spaces, commas, semi-colon, each filename in "".
    If anyone can help me in this regard I would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Tony

    If you have the file names of the photos, you can simply paste the text containing the file names into the filter bar text search (set the filter bar to search by file name)
    For example, here's a short list of filenames that I would paste into the filter bar if I was searching my photos
