  • Changing MIDI song names

Song names cannot be changed for some MIDI songs with iTunes 7.1. This problem has existed since iTunes 6.0. When is Apple going to correct the problem?
Apparently they are interested in using iTunes only for the purpose of selling music.

Sounds like your song files are Read Only and/or you do not have Write permissions to them.

  • How changing the song name?

Is it possible to change the names of the song in itunes?
The reason I want to do this is not because I am trying claim that the songs are by me. I just wana put "A","B","C"... in front of their names so they can be sorted the way I want

Click/Select/Highlight the song in iTunes. Then click the song name again. The name should become editable.
    Compared to...
Also, you can single click on the song, wait a second or two, then single click on the inofrmation you want to change. It is like a delayed double click.
You worded it better than me. I'm never quite sure how to explain that, but I like "delayed double click."

  • How do I change the Song Name syntax when Importing a CD?

I would like to have iTunes use the following Song Name syntax when I import a CD:
    Artist Name - Song Name
I cannot find where I can change this within iTunes preferences... Any advise or guidance would greatly be appreciated.
BTW, I am using iTunes 6.0.1.3...

If you are wondering how to change the title of the song I can help you.
    1. Right click on any song that you would like to name or rename
    2. Click on the option "Get Info"
    3. Once you've clicked, 5 options will appear on the top of the window, choose "Info"
4.Looking into the window now you will be able to change the name of the song and the artist.
I hope I answered your question

  • I can no longer change my song names like i used to. i use to be able to right click and go to "get info" and then change the song name, artist and album, now i can't is there any other way to change the songs name and info

When I get songs and put them on my itunes accout on my computer I used to be able to rename them right clicking, going to "get info" and then renaming everything I wanted like song name, album and artwork. I also use to be able to click on the song then click and hold on it and be able to rename it. But all the songs I have gotten after the last update have not been able to be renamed in any of the old ways I use to be able to. Is there any other way to rename songs because I know I can't undo updates and that seems to be whats causing it.
    Thankyou for your time

  • Changing Track/Song Name on Archive File - How to?

I have about 50 songs named "Track #" that I want to rename including new Artist and Album information.
I got how to do this in iTunes (Get Info on the Name and enter Info), but I want to change the original file on the library outside of iTunes.
MY QUESTION, does editing the Info in iTunes change the original file (or how to I change the original file so it includes the new information?)?

I'm assuming you want to change the original file info to avoid confusion...
I think it depends on whether the other location allows you to change info. I think you would probably also be prompted if you shouldn't.
After you edit info in iTunes, say you add a song from your outside library that's already on iTunes...it won't be listed in the iTunes library as a duplicate, and doesn't change any info you've already edited in iTunes.
Editing info in iTunes hasn't changed the original file name in its other locations as far as I've seen.
You can see the original file name and location like this:
    1. right-click the song
    2. choose "Get Info"
    3. click on the "Summary" tab
Look at the bottom where it says "Where".
That helped me a whole lot when I had duplicate songs in the outside library and the files had names like "track 02".

  • Can anyone explain me why iTunes is just changing song names an messing up the order?

I have different songs that I would like to upload onto the phone iOS 6.1.3
So I copy the songe into a playlist in iTunes.
    Song names are
    whatever_xx-001
    whatever_xx-002
    whatever_xx-020
what does iTunes? It just changes the song names and make a complete mess with the order of the songs:
    whatever xx 1
    whatever xx 20
    whatever xx 2
My question is, if iTunes is not usable for copying numbered songs? I cannot imagine that this tool is so stupid? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you for a hint.

Now I look more carefully at your list, I see what you mean.
iTunes does have a method for Artist sorting if the Sort fields are empty (as most of mine are), but offhand, I don't know much about it to be honest. The glaring issue in the your screenshot is Ministry Of Sound.
If any of the other experienced contributors add to this thread (note the number of points they have) with better advice than I can offer, take it.
In the meantime, start with the Ministry Of Sound and check the Sort Artist field. If you highlight everything by an artist, or a complete album, and select Get Info/Sorting, you see this view:
and if you select just a single song, it's this view:
I assume, unless you tell me otherwise, that the Ministry Of Sound entries will show something in there which is causing iTunes to put them in with the entries for A. Replace it with Ministry Of Sound. If the field is blank (which it will be if there are two different entries in your selection) simply type in Ministry Of Sound. Does that make any difference?
If it does, then check your other entries to see what is causing the issue with them.
You may find the the artist "Joey Bada$$" has been set to sort by Bada$$, Joey.
This screenshot of my Artists column may explain why B.o.B is before Baauer:
If you don't like it that way, change the entry in the Sort Artist field to suit you.

  • Won't let me change song name?

I just imported the nutcracker soundtrack onto my itunes. I have tried to change the song names, as they were not listed (they were all listed as allegro, andante, etc). It won't let me change them to the proper names (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, for example). The names show up fine at first, but when the song starts to play, it then reverts back to the old name. I'm not sure what to do.

highlight the song in the itunes libary. click on it once and wait. the song title should now be highlighted. now delete the current title and type in the new one.

  • Changing cd file name

can i change the song name loaded from cd? older cd info indicates file number instead of song name. i would like to change it so the song name displays on my nano. anyone know how???

    Sure.
You can just edit the song name within iTunes directly (click twice on the name [not a double-click]) or perform a right-click, 'Get Info' for the song and edit the information in the boxes available in the editing tab.
You must use iTunes - you cannot edit directly on the iPod. After editing, sync your iPod to iTunes and the information should transfer and display on the nano.

  • ITunes changes my song tags

    Hi,
every time I add my music folder to the iTunes library some track names end up getting a different tag. I'd estimate that it's about 1/6 of all my songs that this happens to. It's basically every track on certain albums. Most tags change to this format: http://bayimg.com/image/haoabaabn.jpg (the highlighted one I've clicked on and thereby changed the tag to the correct one)
By just playing/double clicking these tracks the tag changes to the correct one but it's kind of exhausting to click on 500 songs. It would've been fine if I only were to add my music folder once to the library but I add it on the regular to make sure that I synchronize all my songs to my iPod.
I'm guessing someone else must have had this problem and hopefully it can be solved.
And while I'm writing this post I might as well ask another thing. The iTunes default sorting is pretty bad in my eyes. A few things that irritate me:
    * Artist who have the 'The' article don't get sorted under 'T'.
    * Albums are sorted by name, not release year.
    * Artists whose stage names begin with a number don't get sorted at the top.
    * I've tagged track numbers as 1, 2, 3 and so on. Since there's no 0 in front my whole track order gets messed up on my iPod, although not in iTunes. :S
Pretty long post but hopefully someone will be able to help me. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your answer. First of all, I managed to get albums sorted by year now so thank you for that one. Too bad I can't do the other changes. I tag all my songs in an application called 'Mp3tag' and I've been consistent on tagging track numbers as 2 for example instead of 02 or 2/14. I guess I'll have to fill in the 'x of y' in iTunes then so I can get the correct track sorting in iTunes.
Furthermore I don't think it's WMP that's changing my song name tags. I never use the program itself although I use Media Player Classic for playing videos. I tested adding my music folder to the WMP library and all the song tags were correct although some artist tags were wrong, but that's not important.
And just a clarification: my topic is kind of incorrect maybe 'cause iTunes isn't really changing the tags per se. It just shows the wrong song tag and just by clicking on the track it changes to the correct one as I've already written. I would've never minded if it wasn't for the fact that those wrong tags show up in my iPod too.
I use foobar2000 for audio playback and everything shows up just fine in it. A solution to the problem would be if I could play or double click all my songs at the same time but I can only assume that that is impossible? Do you perhaps have any idea how I can solve the problem?
    Thanks!

  • The song name doesn't match to itunes.

Ever since i've update my itunes, i've encountered this problem. I change the song name and artist info by right-clicking the song and then clicking 'get info', but after i sync and take out my iphone 4s, the song name change doesn't appear on my phone. Anyone got any ideas?

If you back it up right, you will not lose anything.
And to unsync, follow these steps, exactly as I write them.
    1. Plug in device, open iTunes.
    2. On the left hand column of iTunes, click on the "XXXX's iPhone" under Devices
    3. Above the picture of the iPhone in the middle of your screen, there will be tabs, they start with Summary, Info, Apps ect...
    4. Locate the tab called "Music" and click on it
    5. Uncheck the box for syncing music
    6. Then click the "Apply" button in the bottom right corner, then wait for it to unsync
    7. To resync, then just check the box next to Sync Music again, and apply the changes again.
If any of the steps look different than what you see, let me know.

  • Changing midi names

i recently downloaded hundreds of midis, many of them had names that didin't have relevance to the song or artist. So… i changed names on the files. When i dumped tham all into iTunes, many of these names were ignored by iTunes. So… i changed them in the main window so that each had artist first then song name. That way all songs by one artist would be listed together.
As soon as i would play a song, iTunes would change the name back! Why???
i have unchecked "keep organised…" in prefs. i'm out of ideas. it seems to allow me to change names on mp3 but not midis. i even tried to access the file in ResEdit, but it had no resource fork.
this is making me nuts & i know it is probably so easy it hurts!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i found my own solution, which may help someone else.
i used an old MoviePlayer (QuickTime 2.5). This allowed me to export the midi file to change it's name. Later versions of QT have not allowed you to save anything, so i kept dragging this one from one OS to another. Now, i even use it in Classic!
when i look at my midi list, i see this:
    Hornsby Bruce - Harbor Lights
    Hornsby Bruce - Mandolin Rain
Hornsby Bruce - The Show Goes On
Hornsby Bruce - The Way It Is
    instead of this: !
d_1045†The Way It IsBruce Hornsby And The Range.MID
    Piano RH
    untitled
    vocal

  • I just highlighted and changed the artist name of about a hundred songs in my library.  This was an accident and I want to change them back. I can't "undo" or search for artists' names online. Any way to fix this? They are still highlighted.

These were all songs I had ripped from old CDs, lot of which, I no longer have. I can't remember that artists' names for all these songs.  They are all "oldies" from the fifties and I just accidentally changed the artist for all them to Fats Domino. I'd had them all highlighted because I had done a batch change of their genre to Oldies. I couldn't tell that they were all still highlighted after that change because I could only see two of the songs at the time that I changed the artist name.  Is there any possible way to undo this?  All the tracks are still highlighted from the naming operation. I can't search for the artists' names online because I didn't purchase them from iTunes.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I found one other way to do it.  I just deleted them all out of my iTunes library. Now I can re-import them from Window's My Music file with the original artists' names intact.
    Thanks for your help, Matt!

  • Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?, Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?

Is it possible to change the tempo mid-song in GarageBand for iPad? And if so, how do you do it?

The tempo setting applies to the whole song, but only to the recorded midi instruments or loops. It's a bit of a kludge, but you could record different sections at different tempos, export each as an AIFF file, then glue them together in a new project.
The same goes for the key.
