Change mission control wallpaper ?

Hi, is there anyway to change the mission control wallpaper on mavericks ? I changed the wallpaper for the dashboard but can't find out how to do it for the mission control background .

Well there was no "Mission Control" in leopard. There was Spaces and there was Expose. Spaces let you have multiple desktops and clicking on it would let you see all of your desktops on one screen. Expose would show you all of the windows on your current desktop. There is no way to get either of those back unless you switch back to leopard or snow leopard. However, there is an option in system preferences that may help you. In the trackpad section (at least on laptops, there may be a similar option on desktops) under one of the gestures tabs, you can turn on app expose which will let you see all of the open windows for that specific application. So if you have 3 safari windows open it will show you those 3 safari windows, but it won't show you the other applications. Does this make sense?

  • How do I change Mission Control back to Expose?

Mission control is useless. It groups windows from the same program together, making it impossible to see windows in the back, and on top of it it requires multiple steps to get a specific window to a program.
Expose is a step up from mission control - it lays EVERY window out in front of you so you can quickly select the one you're looking for.
I want Expose back. And not this crappy new expose. I never have enough windows open to make that even remotely useful.

Don't have time to be mouseing around and clicking windows.... The point of Exposé was to reduce time hunting for what you're looking for....
    Then tell Apple

or go back to Snow Leopard. Exposè has gone. Get over it or go back.

  • How to change Mission Control and Notification Center grey background on Mavericks?

Has anyone found a solution that works, to this day?
I've been able to change the login, dashboard and launchpad backgrounds (launchpad I actually only un-blurred with OnyX)...so they now all look like my desktop wallpaper.
But I can't manage to find an actual solution for MC and NC, yet. It would be nice if Notification Center could be even just black or maybe restored to linen, don't know, but not that ugly *** grey!
Does anyone have any new tips?
Or is it true that the MC grey backgroud is done with code, therefore not changeable? Seriously hope not!
    Thank you.

    Nope.

  • Mission Control messing with Lion's default background

Strange and frustrating Mission Control behaviour in the attached picture. Lion's default background pops-up to block most of the desktops. This happens atleast with my external Acer display (with Apple's display port to dvi adapter) but it has sometimes occurred with the native display too. Then there is this another annoying feature when I shutdown my computer and the OS asks do I want to open up the same windows on the start-up. Lion surely opens up everything but every app window is on the same desktop so I have to re-arrange them. Changing Mission Control preferences does not help, the apps are cluttered on the same desktop on startup.

  • Desktop wallpaper overlapping Spaces in Mission Control

This is a weird one. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I can't access Spaces in Mission Control properly because I have desktop wallpaper from a previous space overlapping most of the spaces at the top of Mission Control, i.e. desktop wallpaper from Space 1 carrying over onto Space 2 and blocking out the spaces at the top two-thirds of Mission Control (see image).
This currently occurs with my MBP hooked up to my Thunderbolt Display. (Haven't confirmed this behavior on the MBP alone yet.)

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Swiping for Mission Control changes in Mavericks?

In Mountain Lion I can three finger swipe up to get to Mission Control, then without lifting my fingers from the trackpad swipe down to bring the screen back.  In Mavericks I have to lift my hand from the trackpad to get back out of Mission Control.  I cannot find a setting to change that behavior.  Is this an intentional change in Mavericks?  It's ashame if it is.
    Thanks.

I just played around with this again. I can swip back and forth with out picking up my fingers. However, it's more complexed than a simple "return swipe".
Swipe up for Mission Control. Then a swipe down and back up for normal.

  • Mission Control: How to change the order of the Apps?

    OS X Lion
Is it possible, to change the order of the Apps in Mission Control?
When I swipe with my 3 fingers, I first get the Apps, witch I started last.
    Any way to change that?
    Thanks Mark.

Here is a simple way to use Mission Control just as Spaces:
Let's assume in this example we like to assign iPhoto to Desktop 3 (which in Spaces was called Space 3).
    1. Turn off 'Automatically rearange spaces on most recent use
    2. Scroll up with 3 fingers simultaneously or launch Mission Control from the Dock. Click on Desktop 3. While you are in Desktop 3 launch iPhoto. Doublecheck with a right click on the iPhoto symbol in the Dock. Choose options. Confirm 'This Desktop'
NOTICE: Apps are automatically assigned to the Desktop / Space where they are launched for the very first time. However you change this by ctrl-click the application's symbol and assign to None than switch to let's stay with Desktop 3 and launch the application from here. From then on it will be assigned to Desktop 3.
NOTICE: Apps in fullscreen mode will temporarily (for the duration they are in fullscreen mode) be assigned to right most Desktops in Mission Control. Once you restore to a window you will find yourself again in its (app's) asigned Desktop.

  • Have to hold down mission control keys, when did this change?

I have my mission control keys (show windows in app, show all windows, and show desktop) set to use the F10, F9, and F11 keys without function keys.
Recently (as in five minutes ago) I noticed that the keys are no longer behaving like they used to. I now have to hold those keys to use any of those functions, basically making them useless because now my hand is occupied with that instead of using the trackpad.
Is there some update that happened that caused this change or is it just a product of some setting getting changed? I never noticed a setting for this in the System Preferences.
Computer: late 2008 unibody Macbook, 2.5 GHz, 4 GB RAM, running Yosemite 10.10.2.

Actually just solved my own problem.
Used killall Dock according to instructions here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3831445
and everything is now working as normal again.

  • How do i change the secondary click from starting up mission control to standard right click

Downloaded lion but i can't seem to changes the secondary click. The secondary or right click opens up mission control instead of the standard right click menus
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 2010 MBA.  I plugged in a mouse and changed the preference on the right button to secondary click in the mouse preferences.  For some reason it changed the setting on the trackpad from mission control to standard right click as well, even after the mouse is unplugged.  So if you have a mouse you might try that.  Hopefully Apple will fix this with an update.

  • Mission control changes layering of open documents

When I toggle between mission control desktop spaces, if I have multiple Word or Excel docs (may be true of others, but this is where I see it happen), when I return to the docs space a different document is on top but not selected, so I have to select the top doc then re-select the document I want. It's like the original doc remains on top virtually but not visually. If I toggle back and forth several times, a different doc may be on top each time. This practically kills the value of multiple spaces.
While I'm at it, I hate that opening a document in one space, say from an Outlook email attachment, the file opens in the same space as the originating document rather than switching to the space I've dedicated for the document app, such as Excel.
Do I have to give up using mission control or does someone have a fix?
    Thanks!

Yes.  I used to get this problem.  Seems to have been largely fixed with 10.7.3.  I deleted all my desktops and started again.
There are still some bugs though.  For example, if you have an app with multiple windows open and then put it in full screen mode.  Command-tab doesn't take you to the primary window.
Also the keyboard shortcut to get a spotlight window results in a switch to the finder but doesn't display the finder window.

  • Desktop background disappears, Mission Control doesn't work correctly

Sometimes it happens that my desktop background completely dissappears, and Mission Control stops working as well.
It seems to happen when I open a new window in a fullscreen app (like Safari), and while it's opening I switch to another space.
Whenever this happens, my desktop changes to the Dashboard background, and Mission Control doesn't show the other spaces anymore (but you can see active windows in your main space). I've added pictures below.
I can still swipe between spaces, my dock still works and all apps still work in all spaces.
Any way to fix this without rebooting? To avoid this happening (apart from me being more patient)?
This is my desktop at the moment:
    And this is Mission Control:
I am using: Macbook Pro 5,4
    OS X 10.7.1
2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I am experiencing the same thing as most of us, exactly as explained by - Acid_Raccoon.
UK-Max - This is not just a specific problem involving external screens. The dissappearing wallpaper, and loss of function of mission control (do not show spaces, but you can click in empty area where it should be located and it actually works as normal) occurs also when there is no
external screen input involved - You have to restart computer for it to return to normal. As a matter of fact, I am experiencing it right now for the 10th time in 1 week period, and it´s quite annoying. I would guess more than just a few people are experiencing this, and as postmechanical mentioned about having a brand new computer - this shouldn´t occur, and if so should get a fix immediately.
Over time, I have experiencing other system problems produced from installing OS lion. Sure it deliver a few smart, and smooth features, but since more and more bugs are discovered (and not fixed by apple), I am considering returning to snow leopard. For instance, sometimes when my computer goes into screensaver, it can shift to a picture of pixels (black&white) in 4:3 screen ration. This has never occurred before installing Lion. Another thing which is extremely annoying is that since installing lion, my computer refuses to go to sleep when I close my lid. Nothing happens, and it just stays on. I have to manually select in apple-menu to sleep.
I really hope Apple take these notes people have mentioned in this forum (and others) seriously, and fix them. I really hope Apple show more custumer service-spirits, than Apple´s lack of hardware-quality. (I have owned 4 apple computers(1 powerbook G4, 1 macbook & 2 macbook pro), brand new, and 3 of them have experienced hardware-failure on more than one occasion in less than a year. The one that didnt required service was my powerbook G4 titanium, released in 2001, and kept going for 4 years straight without any problems.) (Actually, the last one experienced 3 times in-a-row mother-card failure). I only go for Apple´s products due to its smart and clean features (and seriously PC is not an alternative if you want to stay mentally healthy), but what I´ve been reading on multiple forums over the web, more than a few, experience occuring hardware problems with their Apple computer.
I guess this is the result of Apple trying to push for higher revenues. If Apple keep go in the same directions as it has been doing in the last 4-5 years it will be its doom, and loose the customers that once caught the Apple-wave due to it´s innovative and personal aspect, but most important - it´s superiour quality it once had! Apple´s products is quite expensive, and thus should be combined with its smart and innovative system, along with lasting quality. But if $ revenue is the only thing that keep Apple going nowdays, and produce smart product that is meant to last for only 2-3 years maximum, it is deeply disturbing and the company will loose track of what stevie was initially producing - clean, smooth system (just works, no migraine), with everlasting quality far seen in PC-world. Apple - please consider !

  • Mission Control new spaces wallpapers

I set up the iPhoto gallery for wallpaper. It changes every half an hour.
What I really like is the new feature - every newly created space in Mission Control comes out with different wallpaper. Useful and great.
And have a tiny bug: in Mission Control pointing to add new space button (Right Top corner) this button always has thumb of first space's wallpaper. Please fix it)

No offence, but just to be sure...
When you click on the '+' button over there on the right-hand side of the MC window, you ARE then clicking in the new thumbnail that shows up, and not just exiting MC back into your current desktop, right?

  • My MacBook Pro is stuck in Dashboard overlay.  When I opened the case this morning there it was.  I did not enter this mode and cannot get out and back to the desktop.  I have tried Mission control, but it will not open, escape doesn't work either.

I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite.I did not shut down the computer last night.  When I opened the computer this morning Dashboard in overlay was on the screen.  I have not been able to get out of dashboard.  I have tried esc, F12, and accessing System Preferences in the Dock.  I clicked on Mission control and nothing changed.  Help be get back to my desktop.

Did you try restarting the computer?
        Delete com.apple.dashboard.plist file.
        Quit all applications.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down.
        Library > Preferences >  com.apple.dashboard.plist
Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".
        Restart.
If this doesn’t help, Put back the com.apple.dashboard.plist
Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.
Right click the com.apple.dashboard.plist and select “Put Back”.

  • HT4689 With mission control in Mountain Lion, is there a setting that displays a document name when it is selected?

For example, if I have 4 word documents open, and go to mission control so they are all displayed, can I turn a feature on that displays the document name when my mouse is over each document?
Like in the picture, if I have my mouse over a document, the name of the document isn't displayed.  Can I change this?

    Hey!
I just got a new mac and was trying to figure out the same thing today!! I went from an older version to this 10.9.  I called apple support, the tech had no idea what I was talking about.  I was transferred to a manager who told me that it is not feature available on the new models.  After a 40 minute conversation I was about to let it go and then I saw this post and became determined LOL ... and I figured it out (SMH apple support).  So here is how you do you it:
system preferences > trackpad > you want to make sure the "App Expose" is checked off > and you're done!!
I am not able to upload a 2 photos so I will post a second screenshot of what it looks like once the preferences are set.

  • After installing Lion os I cannot see my desktop 1 nor can I see my open windows when I go to finder, I just get the grey/black background that comes with mission control. Any ideas as to how to solve this problem?

The top picture is what my Desktop 1 looks like. And the picture below is what my desktop looks like after clicking mission control. Ive tried changing wallpapers, changing preferences, etc. and I still can't figure out what's wrong. As you can see, on mission control you can't see any of the open windows, or anything that I have placed on my desktop. Any ideas as to how to solve this issue?

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.
