  • How do I change my Itunes library to another computer without losing anything or replacing my existing files with ones on the new pc?

I recently broke up with my girlfriend and I'm trying to switch all of my info. around to my new place and pc.  How do I save all of my existing files of music, etc. to the new pc and start a new itunes library using what I already have?  I don't know what kind of info. that I would need about her pc or if I need anything at all.  Can somebody please help?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-part program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...Some third-party programs also allow moving synced photos to the new computer.
    - Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup
    - Restore the iPod from that backup and sync as necessary.

  • Sharing Itunes Library on other computer

Has anyone figured out if you can share another ITunes library on your network with an IPAD? I thought this was a cool feature but it does not appear to be an option on the IPAD.
    Thanks,
    Rich

It's not likely supported. The iTunes version on the iPad is not the full version on your computer. There are a lot of features left out on the iPad. I would be surprised if apple implemented this feature.

  • How do I change the itunes account on my computer?

How do I change the itunes account on my computer?  I let my ex keep my Apple ID as he had purchased a large amount of music, so he uses it on his Iphone and computer, and I started a new account on my Iphone, and I'd like to use that one on my computer, but I can't figure out how to log out of my old Apple ID and use the new one.

If the desired iTunes library is in a different Mac OS X user account, choose to log out from the Apple menu and then log in.
If the desired iTunes library is in the same Mac OS X user account, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and specify it.

  • How do i share my itunes library with other users on the same mac

I'm trying to share my itunes library with other users on the same mac.  I have tried moving my library to a public folder but when the other user logs in they can't see it in the public folder?

Presuming you moved the entire iTunes folder to the shared folder the other users need to start their iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and select the iTunes Library.itl file in the shared folder.  Only once should be necessary.  Note that any changes anybody makes will be seen by everybody, so you have to trust each other a lot.
If all you moved are media files each user will have to add those files to their iTunes library.

How do I change The Itunes library to a new comutor which will then synch with my Iphone? Thanks.

Copy everything ( itunes, pics, contacts, calendars, files docs, etc)  from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transferring external iTune library from one computer to another

I am having great difficulty in changing my external iTunes library from my old MBP laptop to my new iMac 5k.
My entire iTunes library is stored on an external drive and can be accessed directly with my MBP. When I started up iTunes on my new iMac, it created a new empty library in the MUSIC folder. What I want to do is connect my new iMac to the external library directly. I can see it when I turn on HOME SHARING but only when iTunes is running on my MBP, which is useless since my MBP will now be seldom used. I have of course on the iMac, changed the library location in the advanced preferences to the external location, to no avail. I do not want to keep any media files on the iMac for capacity reasons.
To compound the problem, I cannot seem to sync my new iPhone 6+ to the original external library, only the new empty one!
Surely this ought to be a simple job, transferring an external iTunes library from one computer to another! Am I missing something obvious here?

Wow, what a quick response! Thanks, Limnos. I guess it was bleeding' obvious, and I should have thought of it before. Such a simple solution!
On a related matter, I also have just realised that the iTunes iOS backups are saved on the internal computer drive in a folder called MOBILESYNC rather than on an external drive, thus chewing up a lot of capacity on my SSD. Others reading this response may be interested to know that it is easy to have iTunes save the iOS backups to any external drive using a symbolic link in this directory. Go to

However, note that iBooks will NOT let you use this work-around, pathetic app that it is.

  • Moving iTunes library from old computer using iPod gives me error message?

My old computer recently died. I have a new computer-- a Vista-- that also has iTunes. I am trying to move my iTunes library from my old computer to the Vista using my iPod, which I heard you can do. My iPod has all my old computer's songs on it.
I used the 'transfer purchases' command, and all of the songs from the iPod appeared on the Vista's iTunes screen. However, any time I tried to play one of them, an exclamation mark appeared next to it and I got an error message saying "Itunes cannot play this song because it cannot locate it" (or something like that).
Not all of the songs have this problem. Some of the transferred songs can play just fine. But over half of my transferred songs have that damned exclamation mark next to them.
    Here's a screenshot of what I mean:

    Hi,
Probably the best and easiest way to do this, is the following:
First Enable "Disk Mode". You can read [here|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93446] more info about this. Then make sure that the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" option is checked in iTunes Preferences:
    . Open iTunes.
. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
. Click the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and then click the General tab.
. Select the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" checkbox.
After doing that, move the entire iTunes folder to the iPod Disk.
Once, you'll transfer the library to other computer using the same platform, this will not only copies your audio files over, it also retains your ratings and playlists...
    On your new computer:
    . Open iTunes.
. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
. Click the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and then click the General tab.
. Click the Change button in the iTunes Music folder location pane.
. In the Change Music Folder Location window that appears, navigate to the location where you would like your new Music folder to be created.
. Click the Make New Folder button in the Change Music Folder Location window.
. Enter the name of the new iTunes Music folder.
. Click OK in the Change Music Folder Location window. Click OK in the Advanced window.
. From the Advanced menu, choose Consolidate Library.
    Hope this helps!

With your iPod connected to your computer and iTunes running, select your iPod form the left pane, click the File menu in top bar, from there select "transfer purchases from iPod"
