Change name of iPhone 3GS

I Am trying to rename an old iPhone 3GS and have followed all suggestions without success. I have a Mac Probook and iTunes does not show up the device when it is plugged hence I cannot change the name???!!!.

What you should do is erase the 3GS. That way, you can plug it into iTunes, name it what you want & your wife can sync whatever content she wants to the phone. You have two choices to erase: 1. On the phone itself, Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings or 2. Plug it into iTunes & restore as a "new" device. I'd suggest making sure your wife has an Apple ID that is a verifiable email address first. You'll need that to take advantage of iMessage, FaceTime, etc. You can share iTunes content, but you both need separate ID's for the rest.

  • Changed name of iPhone, now will not sync with iPad.

I rebuilt my iMac.  And changed name of iPhone.  Now my iPad does not sync with iPhone. I purchased app on iPhone but does not appear on iPad.  How do you set up iPad to sync with new iPhone.
Furthermore my iPad is not showing up in iTunes when I initiate a wi-fi sync from iPad.   I see the sync icon spinning on iPad but do not see it in iTunes.
All this may be stemming from fact I just rebuilt my iMac.  Prior to the rebuild he iPhone and iPads both synced with each other and the iPad would show up in iTunes when initiated sync from iPad.
I look forward to your replies on this.

  • Asking for passcode when trying to change restrictions on iphone 3gs

In response to a person on here for deleting a gmail account from an iphone 3GS
I can not enter the passcode for restrictions?
    Can anyone assist?

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • How do i change carrier on iphone 3gs locked to t mobile,

how do i change my carrier on ipone 3gs which is locked to t mobile. the phone is over two years old?

You will have to ask Sprint if you qualify for unlocking.
Sprint will only unlock for use with foreign carriers.
You cannot use it with any other U.S carrier.

  • I have had the digitizer changed on my iphone 3gs and put it back after the recvorey mode but it just keeps saying no sim installed please hellp

i have had my phone unlocked and decided to put a new digitizer on it today but it want come on i done the recovery thing and it keeps saying no sim installed disconnect and install sim but it still want come on please help

If you had your phone "unlocked in a shop" then your phone is most certainly jailbroken.  Only the carrier to which a phone is locked can officially unlock the iPhone.
Since your phone is jailbroken, your warranty with Apple is void, and you have forfeited your ability to receive any assistance from Apple including from this forum.  Terms of Use of thie forum prohibit the discussion of jailbroken phones.
You will have to look elsewhere on the internet for assistance.  Unfortunately for you, there isn't a fix for your phone and I think you have permanently "bricked" your phone.  You will likely not ever get it to work again.
In any case, best of luck to you.

  • Restoring iPhone 3GS

I recently lost all of my settings and other recent changes on my iphone 3GS after my iphone crashed during my latest update.  iTunes locked me out for a while and finally when my phone was able to connect to iTunes again it forced me to do a restore to factory settings because it had no record of any of my previous syncings.
My phone works fine now, but it is just frustrating that all of the little changes are gone.  I use time machine occasionally to backup my system.  So I found a file on my time machine with a Mobilesync backup from about a month ago.  I would much rather have lost a month instead of 2 years.  But when I open the mobilesync file it is just a ton of random files that are composed of letters and numbers.  I think these are what I need, but I don't know how to get them back on my phone.  Any ideas?
Thanks for any help I can get

  • HT201210 Very serious problem on iPhone 3GS and iTune

Although I have already followed all the instructions to restore the iPhone 3GS in the iTune, every time this error message displays, and the restore cannot be executed properly. Even if the restore can be completely executed, the phone always hangs for over a few hours.
I have approached Kowloon Tong Apple Store, Hong Kong twice to ask for the possibility of changing the damaged iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4GS and iPhone 5 by paying back the price difference.
However, I was very disappointed that NO policy of changing the iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4GS and iPhone 5 can be granted in all situations, because once after the products were sold, they cannot be replaced or returned. I have wasted a lot of money, but the money cannot be returned, or replaced to another better-quality iPhone. I still have to do a lot of school and employment projects.

    Thanks for the reply!
I figured the problem would be with the security policies that our company uses regarding Exchange. I'll let them know about the problem and maybe they can remove the restriction concerning the camera on my iPhone.
Thank's a lot. If anyone has any other ideas about this problem, let me know. I think it will resolve itself when I talk to the IT-department.

  • ICal mysteriously no longer syncs with my iPhone 3gs via iTunes sync

My iCal mysteriously no longer syncs with my iPhone 3gs via iTunes sync. It worked great until about a month ago. I've made over 300 Calendar changes to my iPhone 3gs' Calendar, but not a single item has synced back to my iCal on my iMac, when I sync my iTunes (which I do almost daily). In addition, I've created some items on my iCal, as a test, and none of them sync onto my iPhone 3gs.
    What gives? Ideas? Suggestions?
    Thanks for your help!

Well, I was able to manually sync my iPhone to my iCal one time, but haven't been able to get it to sync Calendar info since then. It was moderately successful, so I could export an iCal backup file. However, I ended up with about 200 MORE duplicate items on my iPhone, and what's weird is that many of these duplicates do NOT have any "edit" functionality! So I a, stuck with them being on the day they are at right now. Grrrrrr
