Change name of iPhoto Face

I have a face that is recognized by iPhoto (on my mac), named Sebastian.  Without the last name.  As I was typing in the name for a new photo that didnt get recognized, I noticed iPhoto also offers me the option of Sebastian Smith, which is Sebastians last name.
My question is, I have about 50 faces as Sebastian and only the 1 as Sebastian Smith.
Can I tell iPhoto to use Sebastian Smith as the name instead of just Sebastian?
Are these names pulled in from my Contacts app?

  • Changing file name to iphoto title

Hi I understand that I can export a photo from iphoto with the iphoto title but I have over 6000 pics in iphoto. Is there a way to save the iphoto title as the file name without individually exporting then importing back into iphoto? The main reason I want to have the iphoto titles for all of these pics is to save the double, sometimes triple handling involved if I am looking for the pics in other places or trying to send large numbers of photos to others and they receive them as file names not iphoto titles when i email them (or I have to keep opening them to see what they are in other areas-like the picture library for instance)? Does apeture allow you to keep a title as a file name? I often download over 100 pics at a time from my camera directly into iphoto. The thumbnails allow me to edit information including title without individually opening each pic. If I don't import from my camera directly into iphoto what other options do i have that are not going to be time consuming? thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Is there a way to save the iphoto title as the file name without individually exporting then importing back into iphoto?
No. iPhoto tracks the pics by their path on the HD and this would change the path. iPhoto will then lose the pics.
The main reason I want to have the iphoto titles for all of these pics is to save the double, sometimes triple handling involved if I am looking for the pics in other places
Anywhere you search for the pics you can search on Title, you don’t need to use Filename.
to send large numbers of photos to others and they receive them as file names not iphoto titles when i email them
If they are using any sort of Photo aware app to view them, they will see the titles.
or I have to keep opening them to see what they are in other areas-like the picture library for instance
But why would you be doing that? That’s what your Photo Manager is for.
If I don't import from my camera directly into iphoto what other options do i have that are not going to be time consuming?
Use Image Capture to move the pics from your Camera to the HD. Rename the files and then import them.
I really don’t think it’s necessary to actually rename the files. IF you can describe your workflow for searching or accessing the pics I think we might be able to suggest an alternative way to access them without or without opening iPhoto.

  • Change File Name in iPhoto

I am pretty new the Mac world- decided to get one of the new intel iMacs out for managing all my digital media. I hope I am just missing something obvious:
how can I change the file name of am image in the iPhoto library browser?
I have used a number of different photo management tools in my life but I just can't figure this one out!
    Thanks for the help!

Finder does show you images as thumbnails (actually an image Preview)
Open a folder of images in column view
Go to View>show view Options in the menu bar
In next window check both options...keep the window open, then
    switch to icon view
in the view options window you now can make your icons 128x128 and also check "show icon preview"
If the images are in the iPhoto Library folder that you are viewing in the finder, you cannot change the file name or iPhoto will lose the link to the photo.

  • Is there a save option on iPhoto? Sometimes iPhoto does not retain the name on a face I've added to a photo.

Sometimes iPhoto does not retain the name on a face I've added to a photo. I have 'added a face' then flipped to the next picture then back to that picture and the label has disappeared.

No.  It's supposed to be automatic.  You might try repairing the library's database and then see if it still crops up now and then. If that doesn't help try rebuilding it the same way.
Launch iPhoto with the Option+Command keys held down and select the database repair option in the rebild window:
Then the rebuild option if necessary.

  • Changing File Names in iPhoto

I changed the name of several pictures in iphoto, and when I uploaded the pictures to a website to print, I was very frustrated that the file names were the same and I could not see which photos I had marked.  So I went to each picture and changed the actual file name.  Now those pictures do not show up in iphoto (although I can open them if I click on show original file), but what's worse, they won't upload to a website, which was my whole purpose in doing this in the first place.  I can't even click on the original file to upload.  So I guess I'm wondering how I can undo the file name changes and go back to the original file names so I can upload these pictures.  I greatly appreciate any help!

iPhoto is a SQL database and you can not change the files names within iPhoto
I changed the name of several pictures in iphoto
That does not affect the file name - that is the title only used for display within iPhoto or when you export -
You can do it when you export - select the photos and export (file menu ==> export)  and select the use title as file name option
So I went to each picture and changed the actual file name. Now those pictures do not show up in iphoto
Right you have corrupted your SQL database by making change to it - the first rule of iPhoto (and all database maangement systems) is to NEVER make any changes directly to the structure or content of the database - all changes MUST be made using iPhoto only. This is why the iPhoto library is a package and you ae to take special steps to get into it - there are no user servicable parts in the iPhoto library
So I guess I'm wondering how I can undo the file name changes and go back to the original file names so I can upload these pictures.
best way is to load your backup from before you destroyed your library
only other choices are to restore the file names to exactly what they were prior to your error or creating a totally new iPhoto library from your original photos losing all edits, metadata changes, etc.

  • How to batch change filenames in iPhoto 09?

I have a dilema... The photos I've taken with my Leica have a certain filename convention (e.g. L0001, L0002, etc.) and the photos I've taken with my Canon have a different filename convention (e.g. IMG_0001, IMG_0002, etc.).
When I import these photos into iPhoto they are arranged my date and time, which is what I want. When I upload these photos (all one giant Event) to my MobileMe gallery they are uploaded and arranged chronologically but by filename, meaning all the Leica photos are first in their order, then all of the Canon photos in their order. The MobileMe gallery does not match my Event.
    How can I fix this?
    -Keith

you can not change file names in iPhoto - it is critical that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the content or structure of the iPhoto library
YOu can export the files using the option to sequentially name them
You can change the file names prior to importing to iPhoto (use image capture to download your files and use a program like name mangler to batch rename them)

  • How to name multiple suggested faces?

    Hi there!
I'm using Photos on OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. I'm trying to name all the faces Photos show me but, i'm spending much time on it because i can't name (or ignore) multiple faces at once. I tried using Command, Shift, Control and Option keys to select multiple faces, but nothing happens.
Is this feature present on Photos? If it's not, i'd like to recommend it!
    Thanks!

How to change the main profile pic for each face.
Click on the faces icon to expose all the faces for that person. Select the one you prefer and right-click on it. Choose 'Make Key Photo'
    No idea on No.2
Not possible on No. 3. Photos has very very few batch change options.

  • The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it. iPhoto can try to repair the permissions.

Hi, I have the following message when opening iPhoto:
The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it. iPhoto can try to repair the permissions.
I select repair, enter my password and I get the following:
The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it.
This happened a few weeks ago and I have been fumbelling around trying to fix it. I have no backup servers or shared access. My iPhone and iPad 'used to' pump pictures via iCloud but this has stopped.
I am adminstrator with open & edit rights.

    PLEASE HELP!

Similar problem but not quiet the same:
Please bear with me as I am very new to this subject.
1: Using a MacBook Air OSX 10.7.5 and it is WiFi connected to a Time Capsule.
2: Overnight I have done a complete back-up. Checked the data files and all correct.
3: I can open the files on the TC except for the iPhoto Library as I want to check visually that they are there. All 2,388.
4: The iPhone Library on the TC will not allow me to look in.
5: the iPhoto Library on the MBA allows me access and I can view etc all the 2,388.
Q1: So why can I not look into the TC's iPhone Library? Or how do I open that library so I can look in?
Q2: how can I export data back from the TC to the MBA if ever I needed to do that?
Thanks for helping out a virgin in these matters.

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there.
Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A Finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache. Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • Converting Video to iPod, can you change name of file

When you convert Video to iPod format, can you change name of the new file or put some "marker" so one can tell which is the orginal and which is the new file?
Currently it is difficult to tell between the orignal and the new file.
    thanks in advance
    Rohit

You'd probably be better off doing this sort of editing in iTunes, and letting it move the files appropriately.
Go to the preferences, Advanced tab, and check the box to 'Keep iTune Music folder organized'. Then any changes you make to song names or other info (within iTunes) will automatically be applied.

  • RE: 1) Changing name and IP address of an AIX 4.2 Server 2)Using NAT

    Daniel,
you (normaly) just have to :
    1) edit the $FORTE_ROOT/fortedef.sh fileand change the value of variable
    FORTE_NS_ADDRESS
    2) shutdown and restart forte environment
    3) put the new values in the control panel of the client and run !
It worked on our site with the same configuration (Aix 4.2)
    Good luck

Objet : 1) Changing name and IP address of an AIX 4.2 Server 2)
    Using NAT to reach forte
    Hello Forte Users :
I have 2 questions to make:
        1)
I've installed a Forte Server Central Node (Release 3.0.F.2) in an
IBM RS/6000  with OS AIX 4.2
(The name of the server is Name_1 and the IP address is
    125.125.50.50 with mask 255.255.255.0)
Nowadays we had to change the name and IP address of this server
lets say to Name_2 and 125.125.60.60 with mask 255.255.255.0.
After that we try to find any reference to old name and IP address
in the forte directory and all of its subdirectories changing them to
    the new ones.
After these changes we found than forte could'nt start the nodemgr
    server.
We have too many reasons to avoid installing FORTE again.
Does anybody know if I have to change anything more to make
    nodemgr server work.
        2)
The second question is about NAT (Network Address Translation).
To reach a Forte Server Central Node from a Forte Client we have
to pass through a Firewall and NAT.
We are researching and at this moment we can not reach the server
from the client, has anybody any suggestion to correctly configure
Forte (Client and Server) to use NAT between them.
If anyone could help me I would be very pleased.
Thank you very much in advance,

  • Addressbook and Messages not working with iPhoto-Faces

    Hey
I've set up ML with an clean-install.
I also set up iPhoto 11 (Mac-App Store updates installed directly after installing iPhoto 11) with my existing picture-library (upgrade of the library on first run was successfully).
My problem: I cannot select any faces from iPhoto anymore. In Lion, I was able to set a Addressbook-picture from iPhoto, this doesnt work anymore
Next, Messages is not showing my Addressbook-picture (currently set one) - but Mail does!
If I try to select a new profile picture over Messages, Iam still not able to select something from iPhoto.
So, where is the iPhoto-Faces integration?
    Thanks for help

    Hi,
After setting up the iPhone and the Mac they should remain in fairly close contact as the Mac uses the iPhone's Carrier service to send the SMS.
Whilst the setting up does not mention it the procedure looks a lot like Pairing Blue Tooth devices which gives you a range of 30 feet or so depending on surroundings.
Having said that the specs say they two should be on the same WiFi Network (or network that the iPhone is WiFi Connected to be be correct) which would also limit coverage somewhat but  larger area than Blue Tooth.
You then have to decide if it is possible your son went out of range of a suitable carrier service or whether your phone was moved too far form your Mac.
If both your Mac and the iPhone are not maintaining the connection it would seem it is at the far end that the issue is happening.
    Is your son's phone maintaining:-
    1) Connection to a suitable service ?
    2) an SMS ability during that connection ?
