Change name on outgoing emails, so I am anonymous to the receipient?

I am using the email manager on my Mac.
I have several email accounts set up and working fine, one of which I would like to remain anonymous when I send out mail. Right now my name shows up to the reader. Example: email address may be "[email protected]", but what shows up to the reader is "[email protected] AND "Bill Smith". I don't mind if the reader sees, "abc1", but I just want them to see "BJS", as opposed to "Bill Smith".
Is there a way to change this?

The 'Bill Smith' is taken from the 'Full Name' field in Mail Preferences -> Accounts. Just edit that to include whatever 'name' you want recipients to see.

Forwarded email needs to show as email name in outgoing emails

I have forwarded an email address to mac mail and need that email address to show when I send emails, can figure out how to do that.....any help appreciated.

Constant requests for password generally indicates you need to add password again in the Account.
1) Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities. Run Keychain First Aid.
Choose Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid.
Enter your user name and password.
Select Repair and click Start.
If any problems are found run again to verify all repaired.
For good measure, run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Next, open Mail. Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection Doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2) SMTP for sending.
Edit Receiving password in the main Account window. Enter password then click out to select Save. Verify in Connection Doctor that it is now connecting.
EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP: select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address eg. [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password more info)

Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

Macbook pro automaticaly changes names after sending email

My Macbook Pro automaticaly changes the names of a few of my contacts after I've send them an email.
For example I saved my parents email adress as: 'Pa en Ma', after I've send them an email it changes directly on all my devices to 'Pa en Ma Elly'. Elly, is my mom's name. I've probably used it in the past.
The problem is on my Macbook Pro, my iPhone and iPad seem to be saving the correct name. This is the case with 3 different names/persons.

Getting divorced want to change name on accounts, email, etc

Getting divorced and want to change my name to reflect my maiden name on my apple ID, email address, iCloud, etc. Currently my Apple ID and email is [email protected]; want to change it to [email protected] I understand I might need to create a new account, but having trouble finding step by step instruction to do this without loosing data, calendar, music, etc. I use iCloud heavily for syncing across multiple devices, so I am very concerned that doing this is going to mess things up. You are correct that to get a new iCloud email address (without creating an alias address) you will have to create a new iCloud account.
To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. If you are syncing iWork (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) documentes with iCloud, back them up to iTunes (see https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3542).
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password when prompted (if using iOS 7). Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data. When you turn on Mail you will choose your new @icloud.com email address (type carefully as once created this cannot be changed). You will then have to recreate any notes in your new account by from the emails you sent earlier.
If you have multiple devices, you will only have to migrate the data on one device. Once the data is in your new account, on your other devices just save any photo stream photos to your camera roll, delete the account, choose Delete from My iDevice and provide the password when prompted, then sign back in with your new account ID and your data will sync to the device.
Music, apps and other media purchased from the iTunes and App Store is permanently tied to the ID used to purchase it originally and cannot be moved to a different ID.

Changing Name Associated w/ email address

I.m not sure when of how I first set this up, but I have my full name associated w/ am email address, ie before the ""s
as in Name<[email protected]>.Where do I go to change or remove this?

Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the account preferences at the Full Name field.

How can I change my Iphone default email send from an alias to the address I want?

My Iphone sends my emails "FROM" an alias address I have within my ISP email account. I don't want this alias to be used as the default send. It seems my IPad works fine as does my Imac and Macbook PRO. The Iphone is the only one that does this.

Open iTunes on your Mac, click "iTunes Store" on the upper right, then click "Account" on the middle right. Sign in there. That will make the signed in account the "primary".

How to ditch the mysterious bowling scene that appears in outgoing emails

Does anyone know how to ditch the bowling picture that mysteriously appears on the top right hand corner of all my outgoing emails ? I can't find the option to turn it off or choose another picture.
I hate bowling (nothing personal to anyone and all my correspondances have this scene printed on them. I have a mac mail account.

Hi ravenbruce: I believe the picture you mention, does not get sent with your eMail. But to turn it off or change it: Go to "System Preferences" - "Accounts" - "Picture": From there you can change your picture or get rid of it.

How do I mark outgoing emails as urgent or important with iPhone 5C?

Hi all, I'd like to know how to mark outgoing emails as urgent or important using the iPhone 5C. I currently have iOS 7.1.1. The only thread I saw on this was from 2012 (saying that the feature doesn't exist) so I'm hoping the status has changed.

Thank you, good to know it isn't possible. The usefulness is more in terms of the interface with other email software (like Outlook), which can sort and send reminders about messages based on importance. Android phones support this so let's hope Apple can keep up!

"Insert" functions, attachments, photos , etc. on outgoing emails do not activate

I am unable to attach documents, photos, etc. to outgoing emails. When I click on the "insert" icons nothing happens.

You used the term right click on it to download instead of right click on it to save the attached file outside of the message which are very different things.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML or I should say can be HTML but certain things must occur in order for HTML to be implemented with a sent message.
Regardless the message font and size chosen at Mail > Preferences > Fonts & Colors, you must select a font and size via the font panel when composing a message or use bold, italics, underline for selected text or changing text color, etc. If you are using a signature that was composed with RTF or HML with a different font, size and/or color than is used in the message body or contains an image or logo, etc. Forwarding a message that was composed in HTML and the same when replying to a received message that was composed in HTML if you have "Use the same message format as the original message" selected for composing preferences at Mail > Preferences > Composing.
Any or all or a combination of any of these will send a message as HTML.
Depending on the Outlook and Windows version used by a recipient, Outlook has had some problems with Mail's RTF. There is no email client that is completely bug free and Outlook has plenty of bugs for such an old/mature email client and MS also makes the arrogant assumption that the majority of people that exchange email are using Outlook or OE and should be if not.
So long story short, using Plain Text for message composition can and does make a difference.

If you would like to remove an email account from the Mail application, please follow the instructions below:
Removing an email account
You may want to remove an email account from Mail, for example if you no longer use the account.
Important: Removing an account will permanently delete its mailboxes, messages, notes, and to do items. If you want to keep those, be sure to copy them to an On My Mac mailbox before deleting the account.
Exchange and IMAP accounts store their mailboxes and messages on the server; deleting these account types in Mail will not permanently delete messages from the server. However, if you are not completely certain that your account is one of those types, be sure to copy the mailboxes and messages you want to keep into an On My Mac mailbox, or save individual messages manually by selecting them and choosing Save As from the File menu.
To remove an email account in Mail:
Open Mail (click it on the Dock or open it from the Applications folder).
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences..., or press Command-, (the Command and comma keys).
Click the "Accounts" icon.
Select the account you wish to remove.
Click the "-" (minus) icon. You will be alerted that "The account's setup information, mailboxes, messages, notes, and to do's will be deleted permanently from your computer."
If you are sure you want to remove the account and email messages from your computer, click "Remove" to complete this process.

Handle name is my email address when I post?

I've created 2 accounts and with both accounts it appears my handle name is my name but when I edit the profile it shows my email address as my handle?
I've never posted or replied before and noticed today when I tried that when I do a preview my email address shows as the handle even when I have my profile set to not show my name or my email address?
I've read the FAQ's and help but don't see what I'm doing wrong.

IÂ´ve got the same problem and was wondering, why no one has it too.
I donÂ´t want my username to be my email adress. My profil shows my name as the handle, so itÂ´s curios that the email adress appears when previewing the post.
But itÂ´s also curios that in the Forum Settings my email adress is my handle. I have not expected differences between those.
So I am interested what appears when posting.

Most of the people on these public forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here. I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post.
If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the phone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.

Unable to change outgoing email display name on 9930. Only displays email address to clients

I have tried to change my outgoing email display name to my name but when I delete the email address on username field and input my name it says "not a valid email address". Tried on the Blackberry website with my profile and on my handheld device. Why is this so difficult? I can't send emails to clients as on their end it just shows my email address in the from field and not my full name. My email account name on my Blackberry shows the full name I want to display, but it keeps defaulting to my username, which is my email address. I have a 9930 that is two years old. Thanks.

Thanks for the details! When did this issue start? Is your Blackberry on a Blackberry Enterprise server from your company? Is this an outlook Microsoft Exchange email account? This may help with changing your settings:

Change the name of my outgoing email address on icloud

How can i change the name of the outgoing email address for my icloud account? I have done it on my iphone but on my computer it is using my son's name and it should be coming from me when I send and email people.

Without a computer to run iTunes, you are basically hosed when it comes to doing anything with your iPod.
