Change nano 1G from Mac format to PC

I "inherited" my daughter's old nano gen 1.
She used it with her MacBook Pro.
I have a WinXP PC.
What do I need to do with the nano to get it formatted for my PC, erase her songs and playlists and have my PC recognize the nano? I know how to download from iTunes (have an older iPod 3G).
If I connect the nano to my PC, will it recognize the device? Will I be able to do a "restore" to get it to work?
I don't want to "fry" the nano. It has hardly been used and it would be a nice device to get up and running.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Restore the iPod on your PC. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Windows version and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

How do I change my Ipod from mac to windows format?? My Imac is not working at the moment, but I want to use my Ipod on my PC. How do I get my Ipod(mac formated) to get work on my PC??

Use iTunes on the PC to restore the iPod, or install XPlay on the PC without changing the format. Restoring the iPod will erase everything on it.

Im trying to refromat/restore a 3rd gen nano from mac format to windows format, but im unable to do it on a computer with an active internet connection. iTunes wants to connect to the internet everytime i try...

I am having same problem. It is telling me to restore and then the restore download "times out". My internet works fine.

  • IPod nano gen 4 Mac formatted: if I do a PC format, will it wipe out existing songs, audiobooks etc.?

My PC wants me to format the nano. Will this cause all the existing data to be wiped out and the Mac reformatted to work on that computer again?

Niel, does this mean a PC (Windows 7) formatted ipod nano can be synched on a Mac (with songs, etc.) and comingled with data previously synched from the PC? What I would like to do is download into the ipod nano stuff from both the PC and the Mac with the PC being the primary computer connected to the nano.

  • Cannot copy from Mac formatted disks to PC Fat32 disks anymore!

    HElp!
Since I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6, everything I copied from Mac disks to Fat disks always went well.
Few weeks later, I ran Disk Utility in 10.6.2 and "repaired" all my drives including my Fat disks.
At the end of the repair, it said everything was OK and the last sentence of the report said (which I do not remember exactly) said something like it did some changes and finishes that sentense with "...as required" (French OS says: "tel que requis")
That made me a little suspiscious but everything went fine so i did not pay any more attention.
Now I realize that since then, it is impossible for me to copy from Mac Disks to Pc Disks. I receive an (Error -36) ???
What did DiskUtility did as "required" modification?
I need these Fat partitions since I often carry stuff to PC.

    K T wrote:

-36 is a software permissions error only. No indication of any hardware issues, failures, etc.
no it's not. you've been told this several times. error -36 has nothing to do with permissions.
What did DiskUtility did as "required" modification?
Most likely it felt the need to repair the drive's index - perhaps it was confused by the non-mac format, tho.
I would format them using Disk Utility via Snow Leopard and try again.

  • IPod not recognized after restoring from Mac format.

    Hey,
I used my old iPod photo with my Mac for a long time. Recently I got a new iPod video and enjoy it a lot. I ended up selling my old iPod to my dad on the conditions that I had to put all the music on there for him .
Anyway, I know that Mac formatted iPods aren't recognizable on Windows PC's. Thus, I restored my old iPod to its original factory settings using the iPod software updater/restorer before trying to load my dad's library from the PC. However, the iPod is still not being recognized by the PC. And when I try the update/restore on the PC it says "iPod service error." It does show up in the "My Computer" folder, however it says the disk must be formatted. If I formatted it manually on the PC and then tried restore on the PC would it then work?
    Thanks.

NEVERMIND. IGNORE TOPIC. My issue has been resolved.

  • Changing an ipod from Mac to PC

Is it possible to reformat a classic ipod from Mac to PC? My mother has rejected my old Powerbook and wants to keep her pc(!) but her ipod is synced to the powerbook.
I would like to a) download everything from the ipod to her pc and b) reformat the ipod to work with her pc. Can it be done? Appreciate any and all advice.
    Thanks

*I would like to a) download everything from the ipod to her pc*
If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). There are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay for instance gets good reviews and has the added functionality to let you copy your songs back to iTunes. You can purchase XPlay at this link: XPlay
*and b) reformat the ipod to work with her pc*
Once you have the contents of the iPod saved to the PC you can restore it in iTunes for Windows. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Windows version and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up.

  • Change to change user email from long format to short format

    Hi, folks:
I created a new administrator (Preference) and type in an email address. However, there is no place to specify long or short format. I browse the MGMT_NOTIFY_DEVICES table and the TYPE is 1. Right now, I manually changed it to 5 in the table to have short format. Is there anywhere on grid control I can changed it on-line.

    You have two questions
    - Login your GC with sysman and change in preferences the long format for shor format. This option is possible if you edit the emoms.properties file in the sysman\config directory of your oms machine
    - your other user
have notification rules of himself or he suscribe to sysman rules
In the second option you must change the sysman options.
In the first option you must change your preferences for this user
If the situation is combination of both, change the preferences in all the administrator users

  • On project load, CC7.2 on Windows 8 forces me to change scratch disk location away from Mac-formatted external HDD

When I open a project saved on my external hard drive it wants to change the scratch disks to My Documents Folder.
Once I accept it, it opens the project and then I am actually able to change the scratch disks back. Weird.
It's worth mentioning that my external drive is formatted for Mac and I bought a driver from Paragon allowing my PC to read and write to it. Idk if this is where Pr gets confused.
    Windows 8.0
Pr CC latest update (todays date: 19 dec 13)
I hope someone is able to fix it.

    Hi frbra1,
The reason why you are getting this prompt is just beacause the files that are saved on your scratch disk while working on MAC have location "/Volume/name of the HD/program or file name", but when you connect that drive to windows the location changes to "Drive Name:\" . So. it is the adressing issue of the drive that you are facing with the drives. It is alo not always necessary that the drives get same name when they are attached to the machine.
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • Yahoo Home page - change to original from optimized format.

With the recent upgrade to 17.01 my Yahoo Home page has changed to the "yahoo optimized?" format. It is so awful, that I am considering changing default browsers!! How do I get rid of it and just use the standard Yahoo format? I clear the cache upon closing and cookies. I suppose I could also clear the flash cookies (have the Yahoo one not being deleted - most others are also cleared upon closing.) Any suggestions?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • Changing iphone mobileme from @mac to @me

    Hey all;
Back in the day I got an iphone and had a .MAC account with a @mac email address. Since then they have added the MobileMe service and added the @me email address. My newly purchased iPad has an email address of @me, while my iphone still has an @mac email.
I want to change the outgoing email address of my iphone to be @me instead of @mac, but I am having trouble. I have deleted the account off the phone, and re-set it up using the @me email address, once I create the "new" mobileme email account, the settings somehow seem to revert to the @mac host name and smtp setting.
Has anyone out there experienced this, and how the **** can I change it? I typically send emails from my two mobile devices and I am sick of getting replies to both @me and @mac addresses when people reply to all.
    Please help!

    to make an example:
    1.
when subscribed years ago to an .mac account I got the E-Mail address: [email protected]
    2.
when MobileMe was introduced I automatically got the E-Mail address: [email protected]
but were still able to receive or sent E-Mails via [email protected]
    3.
Now I moved with [email protected] to iCloud and made the iCloud setup on all the devices using [email protected] but on all devices inclusive in iTunes and on the website https://appleid.apple.com appears as my main AppleID [email protected], hence I cannot send an E-Mail with the iPad Mail app or iPhone Mail app from [email protected] but from [email protected] This is not what I want because I don't want to inform all others that my E-Mail address has changed again from [email protected] to [email protected]
This is disturbing and I would like to have that fixed.
Most likely all those who haven't had an old .mac account don't face that problem.

  • Change user account from mac to mac

Witch steps are required for copy the iTunes Account from the old Mac mini to the new Mac Book Pro?  The old Mac mini it isn't in operation. I need only the iTunes Account for the iPhone, Music and ohters.

Unfortunately the 'require password change at next login' option is badly phrased and unsuitable for you.  If this checkbox is set, the only thing the user can do with their account is log into it on a Mac using a standard Mac login screen.  Logging in in this way will automatically trigger the 'enter your new password' dialog.  Attempts to use the account with other services will lead to an error message like 'account disabled' or 'no such username/pasword'.
Since your users are not using Macs to log in, this option is useless to you.
You can allow your users to change their passwords remotely, no matter whether they're using Macs or Windows or iPads, by enabling the 'change password' option which, I think, is part of the wiki service.  This gives you a web-facing 'change password' page which can be used from any web browser.  However, even this option will not work if you set the 'require password change at next login' option.  No, it makes no sense to me either.

  • Changing my subscription from Mac to PC

Hi, a year or two ago I purchased Adobe After Effects CS5 for my Mac.  However, I recently built a nice editing PC to game and edit videos on.  I was wondering if there is any way to change my After Effects subscription to PC instead of Mac.  I understand that Creative Cloud is big right now, but I would like to avoid spending $30.00 a month considering I really only use After Effects and Photoshop.  If there is any way to convert these two programs to PC, please let me know. Thanks!

If you are using a creative cloud subscription there is no need to change anything. Just deactivate on one of the Mac's you are using, if you are using two, and install on a PC. If you purchased a perpetual license you have to talk to Customer service and request a change of platform. They will send you forms that you fill out, then you simply uninstall from the Mac and install on a PC using your new PC serial number.

  • How do I change Mobile Me from .Mac to .Me on my iPhone

I just got the new iPhone 3GS, and when I synced (restored)from my old iPhone, I noticed that my Mobile Me on the iPhone has the .Mac address instead of .Me.
I think this may have something to do also with the Find Me Locator on me.com. It worked on my old iPhone for 2 days (since 3.0 came out) but on the new phone even though I've checked by settings, can get it to show my phone online at me.com.

If you are using the same Apple ID on your iPhone 5 and on your iPad, you can synch several things.  Your iTunes account can be synched so that any apps and music you purchase appears on both devices. You can synch your Safari Bookmarks and pages views on each device, which is handy if you find something on one device and then later want to find it on the other device.  Your Photostream can be synched so that photos taken on your iPhone will automatically appear on your iPad and vice versa. You can mirror text iMessages to both devices, which is kind of handy. Finally and most useful to me, you can use the Find My iPhone feature on your iPhone to find your iPad and vice versa.
    My Suggestions
    1. In Settings, iCloud, make sure that you are using the same iCloud account on your iPhone and on your iPad.
    2. In Settings, Mail, make sure that you are using the same email account on each device.
    3. In Settings, iTunes & App Stores, make sure you are using the same Apple ID. Turn on Automatic Downloads on Music, Apps, and Books (you may decide to turn one of these off if you run into space limits.)
4.In Settings, Photos and Camera, turn on My Photo Stream.
    5. In Settings, iBooks, turn on Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections.
    Be Careful
You may have to tweak Facetime settings if you wish to have your iPhone call your iPad or vice versa. If you do, you'll want to have one unique element on each device, eg uncheck the phone number on your iPad, and uncheck a secondary email address on the iPhone. You may not want to do this, so might not be an issue.
Please feel free to correct me if any of this is in error or is unclear.  I am glad to share my experiences and happy to hear back from the community.
