Change number in iMessage
How can I change my phone number on my iMessage. My email is showing correctly but the number is wrong.
The Apple ID used for iMessage and FaceTime has a phone number associated with it, so first check your iMessage settings to verify that it is your ID and not your daughter's that is logged in on your iPad.
To resolve this, sign out of both iMessage and FaceTime, then sign back in to both using your Apple ID. You should then have the opportunity to set your preferred e-mail and phone numbers to be reached at, and send from. See article here:

I have an iPhone 3GS running the latest iOS 6 and I use iMessage. When I message someone they get my email I want them to see my number. I checked the settings there is no tick next to my number but there is at my email address. I tried uncheking the emails and sent an iMessage but it didn't work I NEED HELP PLEASE. I also recently got a new number and on iMessage that number is showing in a blank colur type I can't check it. Thanks

I just updated to ios 6 and the update for mountain lion. What i cant seem to do is change the phone number on imessage from my wifes to mine on my personal mac pro. How do i do that?
Hi,
In the first Instance Messages allows you to Call from the Contacts list.
On the second hand iCloud will sync your Contacts to the iPhone.
If your My Card in the Contacts (Head and Shoulders iCon) then you will not be calling your own iPhone or it will not be listed as the phone number in the iOS 6 and OS X 10.8.2 update changes.

- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.

Hi,
On your iPhone Add the Apple ID
On the Mac then Accept the pop up(s) that appear saying the iPhone is using the ID and iPhone number.
Untick the old number in the list for Receive At and Start Conversation From drop down if it is the listed item.
For complete removal you have to delete a .plist or two.
Open a Finder window
Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key
Select the Library that appears.
Navigate to the Preferences
Find com.apple.imservice.imessages.plist and com.apple.imessage.bag.plist and drag them to the Trash.
Restart the app on the Mac.
It will ask for the Apple ID.
It should get the pop ups about the iOS device.

My daughter has an iphone and changed her phone number . When u go to text her both phone numbers still show up . How do I get rid of that number in iMessage ??
She needs to deactivate iMessage on her device and the re-activate using the correct number.

i use my iphone5 - factory unlocked between two countries with two different sim card. When i am in the USA i can use both my both number and email address to send imessage.
I notice when i am in jamaica i can use only my email address to send imessage.
I tried just about everything i see in these forum.
I signed out of my apple ID and started to reactive my imessage. I notice when i am setting up it displayed my local phone number and email address as method person can contact via imessage. however aster clicking ok, i noticed it is still displaying my att phone number. the phone number area is grayed out.
I even update the local number to my apple id.
added the local number also to my contact in the phone.
I tried everything possible

How do I add a cell number to iMessage on iPad Air 2?
Wife bought me a iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular and it's own unique phone # for Christmas.
She bought it through her Verizon account.
It arrived today via FedEx. Opened it up. Turned it on. Did the initial set-up on it.
Problem is I accidently signed in using my Apple ID that I have for my iPhone.
After that, whenever I would get a text message on my iPhone it shows up on my iPad also...which I don't want.
I want to be able to use iMessage on the iPad and use it's own unique # that came with it.
So I did some reading and from what I found it sounds like you have to sign out of iMessage on the iPad and sign in with a "new" Apple ID that's attached to that new number.
That being said, I signed my iPhone's Apple ID out of my iPad on iCloud/FaceTime/iMessage.
Then I created a completely new Apple ID and assigned the new cellular # to that account on www.myappleID.com and saved it.
I then went back onto my iPad and signed into iCloud/FaceTime/iMessage with the new Apple ID that I'd created.
Now it only shows the email address associated with that Apple ID as the only 'Send & Receive' option...no phone number.
I then went back and confirmed that I'd saved the cell # change via myappleID.com, signed back out of Cloud/FaceTime/iMessage on the iPad and signed back in.
Still, not showing the cell # listed under 'Send & Receive' options for iMessage...and it's not showing me an option for adding the number either...at least that I can find.
So does anyone know how I can now add the Cellular Data Number that's already listed in General>About>Cellular Data Number to iMessage so that I can actually receive messages to that number that's assigned to the iPad?CascadePS wrote:

The only way you can use a mobile number with iMessage on an iPad if it's associated with an Apple ID that is also associated with an iPhone. YO can then use the iPhone's mobile number. The mobile number on the iPad is for carrier billing purposes only. It cannot be used for messaging. -

Thank you!TRy to check on your imessage setting on your iphone. It should be setting>messages> imessage. If you can see your phone number then your mac will be able to see your message. If not toggle the message on and off. Once activated your mac will ask you if you would like to use your number for imessage, click agree(0r yes) then you will also receive a message on your iphone that your mac started using your phone number for imessage

I tried that but on my iphone i can only click on my email and my number is checked but its in grey doesnt allow me click on it and on my Mac, its the opposite, my email is checked but in grey so doesnt allow me to click on it. im realy confused

I received a notification on my Iphone recently that "Leroys Ipad" is now using my phone number for Imessage. The problem is that i no longer have that Ipad but my ex girlfriend does and we no longer communicate. How do i receive Imessage on MY PHONE ONLY or delete other devices not in my possession from my messages?
You need to change your Apple ID password. You could login to Find My iPhone and wipe that iPad if you felt the need to do so.
