Change number of copies in preamble?

Hi,
I am a relative novice with Jetform, I use it occasionaly to make minor modifications to our forms but for the most part the standard prepackaged forms our vendor provides us do the trick. We have run into a new issue that I was looking for some guidance on. We print a shipping label for some of the goods we sell to our customers, this shipping label needs to go on each package the goods are shipped in. Example, a customer purchases 100 widgets, we ship them 10 each in 10 different boxes requiring 10 labels with a quantity of 10 printed on each. Unfortunatly the customer needs to buy the item by the each so our erp application will tell jetform to print 100 labels and there is no way to modify this without expensive custom programming. What I can do is add the pkg qty to the datastream to print on the label, this is easy enough but that still leaves me with 100 labels each with a qty of 10 printed. Would it be possible to divide the package qty by the number of copies sent from the application in the preamble of the form and make that the new number of copies or is it already to late by the time the dat file is accepted by the output server? Thanks in advance for any advice, this is killing us ! thousand of labels end up in the trash every day.

Change number of copies in smartforms

I am trying to change the number of copies in my smartform. In the print program I am setting the number of copies in OUTPUT_OPTIONS-tdcopies. When the pop-up comes up, the user changes the number of copies, but that number is not updated in OUTPUT_OPTIONS. I am doing things inside of the smartform based on the number of copies so I need the updated amount. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The number of copies of an output is populated in the field NAST-ANZAL. The masterdata for the number of copies is maintained in NACH-ANZAL for any sales related transaction. The table NAST is however applicable irrespective of application.
You can pass on your data to this field (NASST-ANZAL) for your reqmt.

Printer changes number of copies

hp officejet J4680 - printer wants to change the number of copies I request - I only want one and it changes that instruction to 6 or 8 or 7 - whatever it feels like - anyone had this problem?

Typically, for the number of Copies, you can set it to what you want as default by going to Copy>Settings>Set and New defaults.
If you want to reset this setting, you can go to Setup>Tools>Restore Factory Defaults.

Number of copies printed upon P.O. change

How/where do I configure whether changes to a P.O. (ME22N) will be printed to a remote location's laser printer, as they are upon P.O. creation (ME21N).
In this case, the remote location wants a printed copy upon a P.O. creation but NOT when an existing P.O. is changed.
I see how to adjust the number of copies via MN05 but not how to turn printing off for just changes.

In config, have you tried to un-check all fields relevant for printout of changes ? If this does not work, you could write a custom requirement which will check for PO change and suppress the output.

Number of copies keeps changing

New Windows 7 pc, and just upgrade to CS5, learning inDesign after using Illustrator for years. When I go to print in inDesign, i set the number of copies to say 5, then i have to go to setup to access the print drivers for additional features like paper choices, and that it's a publication and so fourth, and then I hit print for the print drivers window and it comes back to the InDesign print window, and the number of copies has changed back to 1......so after going through all those preferences i have to continually reset the number of copies and that doesn't seem right.....never had this type of issue before with the same printer. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Every time you reset your drivers/update your print preferences, it makes sense that all the application-specific print settings would reset. Every time it updates the preference file, it re-saves over it and the base preference file wouldn't carry any data on how many copies to print in each app.
I'm not a Windows person, so bear with me. Do you HAVE to setup the print drivers Every time you want to print something? On Mac, you set them up once and you don't have to reopen them to get extra options from the CS applications because the application itself opens the driver. I assumed it would be the same on PC, since it would be a pain to have to reinstall the printer every time you wanted to print something.

Acrobat 9 Pro - Print Number of Copies

At times I want to print to paper 2, 3, or 4 copies of the same document. With the printer window opened, it allows me to select the quantity, but when I click OK to proceed to print I received another popup window reading:
The printer cannot support this many copies.
Number of copies will be set to printer maximum of 1.
What/Where/How do I find the setting to resolve this issue?

Bill... do not misunderstand my words as your views are not my intentions. Take into account, there is a difference between asking the OP, "Have you checked the Print Drivers", and or, "If so, what did you learn?"; rather than telling the OP what the issue is before all facts are gathered, then becoming defensive or insulted.
Example:
I am cooking. I taste the food and say, "Something doesn't taste right. You say, "You didn't add salt". I respond, "I did, it's not salt, it must be something else". Instead of asking first if I added salt, or offering another suggestion, you are insulted and or become defensive. Case in point.
I hope this cleared up your unjustified comment.
Back on subject:
I posted the screen-shot on the fly and first time using this forum and its UI. When it is clicked on, it expands (as you saw). After it expands. Change the "Zoom Level" on your screen to find the correct resolution. Hint - It tells no more than the words in my original post.

We're using Adobe Lifecycle Designer 8.0 and we've the requirement to print copies of our generated pdf delivery form.
Does anyone know how to set the number of copies dynamically at runtime ? Maybe by using java script ?

Yes, I know OPK8 is used to set number of copies for CO04. We set it to 1 as I mentioned. That is what is needed when the user executes CO04 directly. My question was is there a way to dynamically change the number of copies when running CO04 via creating a BDC (or call transaction) from a custom process, because then we will need more than one copy.
I am resigned to calling CO04 in a loop for the number of copies I need.

I'm trying to print out a text depending om the number of copies.
If users selects to print 2 or more copies, I want to write text "<i>ORIGINAL</i>" in the first copy, and for the following copies I want to print "<i>COPY</i>".
How can I manage this request?

What about reprints?
If someone selects 3 copies, and then two days later print another 3 copies.... what should happen?
Is only the first printout ORIGINAL and the other five COPY? Or is the first printout of each group ORIGINAL?
All I can think of is doing a PERFORM in SAPscript.
You would pass the document number and output type as a key.
The CHANGING parameter could be the text string (COPY or ORIGINAL).
When the PERFORM is called in the MAIN window (above any text elements), search the NAST table for the key.
If you find a successfully printed document with this key, set the string for COPY. You have to check the status flag in NAST to make sure it is already printed.
If you do not find an entry in the NAST table, go to a second step.
IMPORT a value from FROM DATABASE using the key (document number and output type). If not found, it is the first copy of the first printout. EXPORT TO DATABASE to capture the status of the second printout in the next IMPORT step.
Does that make sense?

PO messages (Number of copies)

We have a client in which for a particular plant or pur group alone has to print 2 copies for the PO's. Without changing the output code. Now we are going to each PO and changing the number of messages manually. Is it possible to make it global for this plant or pur grp only. If yes then How to do it.

Create one New Message type for this scenario.
Create one Condition table by taking the Field Purchasing Group as one of the field. Add this condition table in the Access sequence.
Maintain thecondition record for this message type, give here the number of copies =2.
When u'll create PO it will for the same Purchasing group it will take this message type & process the output.

Crystal Reports Number of copies

Hi there
We are using Crystal reports to do reporting work in our add ons.
Does anyony know if number of copies can be set internally in a crystal report itself? We want to make the number of copies depending on a formula/function build withing a crystal report.
We know it is possible to set number of copies from outside by setting a property at crystal report object but from inside ...?

Hi Kurt,
As we haven´t found any "easy" way, we usually do a simple trick for this, but is dependent on the way we manage the Crystal Report.
All our reports are based on views with parameters. So if we need 2 copies of a reports, what we do is to change the view. Instead of a SELECT statements we put the SELECT statement, UNION the same SELECT statement.
This returns 2 results, and we manage them in the Crystal Reports.

Number of copies by default in a printer?

Hi everybody.
I've a simple problem, but I don't know how to solve it.
If I go to TC SP01 with a specific user and I see the details of a spool request (double click on it), if I go to output attributes, at No. Of Copies I see a 2, and all documents printed with this printer has it... I want to fix it to 1 by default for all documents, but I can't find where...

Hi Oscar,
I don't know of any way to default the number of copies at a printer level. It is posible for the user to set it as a default, but it's quite complex so they must REALLY have been tinkering to set this.
Here goes,
As the logged on user print something (anything)
In the print pop-up choose Properties
In the next pop-up choose Specification
In the field name drop-down choose 'Number of copies'
Under this the default value will be shown.
If this is set to 2 you can change it back to 1.
Feels like a long-shot, but worth checking.

Number of copies to print

HP Officejet 6500 (Wireless)- but using USB connection-Windows 7 (Home Prem). If I ask it to print 2 copies from Foxit PDF editor it only prints one copy. If I then go back to the print instruction it still shows "2" against number of copies. I change that to "1" and tell it to print but this time it prints two copies. Can anyone help please? Thanks.

This 4 represent - send immidiately. i.e. when you click the message tab, after entering the output type u hav to click further data tab in this there is dispach time option here you have to select send immidiately.
For taking no. of copies whiling giving the print out system will ask for the option you can enter 4 no. here.

Number of Copies is always 6

Hi I have a G4 iBook and printing works fine except for the fact that in the print dialogue under number of copies the default value every time is 6 copies...I have to change it each time I print...was wondering if anyone had any idea how to get it back to being 1.

Thanks, by doing what you recomended I noticed that my printing was set to use a different preset than the standard one and it was in this other preset that the 6 page thing was set. I deleted the offending preset and was left with only the Standard one which defaults to 1 copy per print.

Adobe Reader X cannot respond to printer properties number of copies issue

Hi to all!
I have an issue using Adobe Reader X 10.0.1, 10.1.0, 10.1.2, when select File > Print > Page Handling: Copies = 1, click Printer Properties > Page Setup, specify eg. Copies : 5, it print 1 copy only instead of 5 on Windows platform.
Happen to a number of printers, eg. HP, Epson, Xerox, Canon, Brother printer, etc.
For some reason, Adobe Reader X cannot respond to the No. of copies specified in the printer properties.
Anyone have any solutions or workarounds to solve this issue besides specifying Adobe Reader X : File>Print>Page Handling: 5 copies?
Is there any website, forum, supporting documents, with regards to above scenario?

Sorry for the late response!
The users had a habit of going into the printer properties to specify other printer options eg. 2-sided printing, manual feed printing, heavy paper, etc... besides the number of copies inside the printer properties as well. Therefore, they prefer to do all the various changes in the printer properties instead of changing it at the Adobe Reader dialog.
The same method were applied by all the users in Adobe Reader 9.4.7 and there were perfectly no issue at all! All the network printers (23 different brands and models in the network) responded to the printer properties "number of copies" accordingly.
It seems that Adobe Reader X dialog Page Handling: No of copies, cannot synchronise and recognise the "No of copies" specified in the printer properties. This symptom was tested and found to be the same behaviour for different printer manufacturers. Wonder if there is a bug with Adobe Reader X as this issue did not occur for Adobe Reader 8 and 9 versions. The users were using Reader 8 and 9 versions before and there were no complaints until it was eventually all upgraded to Reader X, starting from 10.0.1, 10.1.0 and now 10.1.2.
What do you think could be the cause?
