Change object view to reverse or mirror image to itself

I am using Illustrator CS3 and have Windows XP. I have a vector object that I would like to flip over,or see the mirror image of it. How do you do that?
Doug

If you mean you want to see a mirrored image of the object as you draw and manipulate it, you can do that using the live effect found in:
Object>Distort&Transform>Transform. In the dialog, enter 1 for Copies, and turn on the Reflect X checkbox. Set other options (horizontal or vertical move distance, proxy box handle point, etc.) as desired.
Another method:
1. Select the object. Symbols Palette flyout menu: New Symbol. In the resulting dialog, select Graphic and click OK. The object is now a Symbol Instance.
2. AltDrag the object to make a copy of it. Use the Reflect Tool to flip it horizontally or vertically, as explained in Post 1.
3. DoubleClick either of the object's Instances on the page. That puts the Symbol in Isolation mode. Edit the artwork as desired. When done, rightClick it and select Exit Isolation Mode. All other Instances of the Symbol update accordingly.

  • How do I print as a "reverse or mirror image" on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 model # N911a

How do I  print as a "reverse or mirror image" on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 model # N911a

I have spent hours figuring out how to print a t-shirt transfer since my new HP printer doesn't seem to allow for mirror image printing (yet my old HP printer easily let me select this feature).   Here's what worked for me, using Word 2010:
Create the text and insert any images  into the document as you normally would.
Go to Insert / WordArt and chose a style of lettering (I don’t think it matters what you choose since you will be cutting and pasting the data from 1 above).   A text box will appear and a new "double-decker" tab will appear at the right (Drawing Tools on top and Format below).
Copy what you created in step 1 and paste it into the text box.
Click on the Format tab (the cursor must be inside the text box for the Format tab to be visible).
Choose Text Effects / 3-D Options and then 3-D Rotation Options.  A dialogue box will open.  For the X value, enter 180.  Do not enter anything for the other values.  Your image should have rotated to mirror image.
Click Close and save your document.
You should now be able to print your document as usual.
    Good luck!

  • What software besides iGlasses can reverse the mirror image in iChat?

I'm trying to use iChat to stream video of multiple animators and artists around the country looking at each others drawings, instructions, & messages and settings on their computer screens. The iSight cam's mirrored image produces everything backwards - eCamm.com's software, iGlasses, thankfully, reverses the mirror image making it possible for our artists to read each other's instructions. Unfortunately, the iSight cam's quality is not good enough to read the small type on their computer screens. We can use more expensive video camera's with firewire connections, but iGlasses isn't compatible. Is there any other software we can use besides iChat so we can read each others screens and data using more expensive cams and not having to read everything backwards? Probably a unique need but any help much appreciated.

Thanks, Bill. This is a very cool alternative that I never knew about. We'll try it out for sure. We're also trying Apple Remote Access and other VNC software to acccess the various computer screens, as hosts and clients, but so far haven't succeeded. • • Also, we need to see video streams of the artists drawing on paper while they're drawing. So we still need a high quality video conference set up for fine detail. Again, Thanks!

How do I reverse print/mirror image print?  i have HP photosmart premium c310.

you need to use a 3rd party software that supports reverse printing.

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

  • Reverse or mirror image & resize

Working in photoshop elements I am wanting to print some pictures to then iron on fabric. I can not seem to find a command or anything in the menus that will execute this. Is there a way to have PSE reverse or mirror an image before I print it? If I have to use the layering and create an entirely new picture, can anyone explain to me how that is done?
Also I am trying to resize some of my pics. I have used the menu to choose resize>5x7, but when I print the picture it prints a 5x6. Any suggestions as to what I might need to do? Is it possible that my original just doesn't lend itself to being sized as a 5x7?
Any help or suggestions anyone can give me would be really appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Kaye

    Kaye,
To answer your first question, do Image>Rotate>Flip Layer Horizontal.
To answer the second, try cropping the image instead: Select the Crop tool and set Width & Height to 5 & 7. Draw out the 5 X 7 rectangle, use the mouse or arrow keys to position the crop area, and click the Commit button (or Enter key).
Another way is to use the Rectangular Marquee tool: set Style to Fixed Size, enter Width & Height, click on the picture to get the rectangle, use the mouse or arrow keys to position the crop area, and Image>Crop.

  • My iphone 3 GS shows mirror image i.e backward/reversed text when switched on or woken up ?  Any explanations or solutions?

Hi, my i-phone 3GS suddenly started showing all text in reverse or mirror image when it wakes or is switched on.  By toggling the on/off swtich it may revert to normal eventually but it takes time.   Problem is recurrent for 3 days and makes the phone unusable in a hurry.   Any explanations or solutions.

Add me to the list of disgruntled users who have had this same problem since upgrading to 3.1. After restarting the phone, it works for about 30-40 minutes and after that, no calls, no texts, no voicemails, no 3G web browsing or email (wi-fi still works).
The tech at the Genius Bar (at the 3rd St. Santa Monica, CA store) seemed as though he had no idea what the problem was. Since my phone is out of warranty, he told me that if the phone needed to be replaced, it would be at my expense, which p*ssed me off, since it was obvious (to me) that the OS update was at fault.
I did a half-dozen restores before I realized that there was no way to roll back to a previous version of the OS and that outside of that, it didn't really matter what I did.
I just read the tip on this thread about turning off 3G. It works fine so far. We'll see if it continues to work after the dreaded 40-minute mark.
Thanks, everyone, for the help. Hopefully, Apple will put out a fix quickly, before they have a revolt on their hands.

  • Just bought a new printer ( Canonpixmaip4920) all other files print ok but when I print a I Tunes cover playlist in comes out backwards or mirror image? How do you fix this?

    Hi,
I just bought a new canon pixma ip 4920 printer... all other files print ok except when I try to print a playlist from I tunes it prints out backwards or a mirror image? How do you fix this?
    Jim

Unfortunately changing the epub text size does not change the view at all. The images do not seem to change when the text size setting is changed.
The resolution of my machine is already at the max setting, so increasing the resolution is kind of impossible.
Any other suggestions I could try?  Thank you for your suggestions!

  • PDF Scans/Mirror Image

PDF scans view and print as mirror images. How can I correct?

Okay, this is a Brother setting, because Reader DOESN'T have any settings for scanning PDFs. Acrobat does, but orientation of the scan is set by the scanner software. I looked briefly for troubleshooting for MFC scanner/printers, but was unsuccessful in finding anything on this. Still looking though.

  • Mirror Imaging Text (RTL arabic-style languages)

    Hi,
I have an odd requirement, to be able to display text typed into a purchase order or sales order and display it on the smartform as it's mirror image.
The background is our Arabic smartforms need to display English as well as Arabic.  Arabic only is not a problem and works, SAP displays all text in it's correct right to left (RTL) format.  English only also work, text is displayed left to right (LTR) but to produce a smartform with both is a problem.  We have gotten around it so far by turning off the RTL function in Arabic smartforms and hard-coding the titles in Arabic as mirror images of themselves.
But now, the business wants user to manually type some text into purchase or sales order and this text is to appear on the smartform.  This text will be in Arabic and needs to be displayed RTL as a mirror image of itself.  So, the business has asked me to write a function module which accepts text strings and converts them into mirror images of themselves.
I have to admit I'm stumped - 8 years of ABAP and I've never been asked to do this before.
    Any suggestions?
    Gill

  • Lightroom (Vista):  Reversed/Mirrored Images in Preview!

New user to Lightroom 1.2 here using a Vista PC.
When I connected the camera (Canon G9 or Canon SD870is) to my PC via the USB, Lightroom was already opened (as recommended by the Kelby Lightroom book). At this point, a pop up dialog box opens up and there is a small check box at the bottom LEFT corner that says "Preview", which I checked because I WOULD like to see/preview the images. Oddly, the pictures showing up (to the right side of this dialog box which expanded after I checked the "Preview" box) are MIRROR images or at least REVERSED!
May I know why that is the case and whether or not there are user changeable settings? It seems to me that it is not desirable to have reversed preview images!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Jay & Rob,
    Thx for your comments/advice.
Today, I used my Sandisk Extreme III's included MicroMate USB card reader (very small, more like a wide-looking flash drive with a little slot for the SDHC to go into. It worked. The previewed images are no long mirror images.
Does this basically mean that there is no hope for the Canon G9 to ever change? I was informed in the Canon forum of dpreview by some folks that Canon, as a general rule, does NOT issue new firmware upgrades UNLESS there is a serious issue. That is to say, they don't issue firmware upgrades just for the sake of new functionalities, only if they HAVE to due to some defect. Actually, this IS a "defect", in my view. Not being able to work properly with one of the most popular and respected programs in the photography world IS a problem/defect.
    What to do now?
On the other hand, as annoying as this is, I should only see the Preview thumbnails briefly, just to identify which pictures to "check mark".
I wonder why it is considered so "bad" to connect the G9 directly to the PC? I like it more because it decreases the possibility of breaking the little flimsy door of the battery/SDHC card compartment (less opening/closing = less chance of breakage). I don't find the speed to be that horrible. The 10 pictures or so I downloaded using the MicroMate card reader (given free with my Extreme III card) took just about as long as it would have from the G9, but then again, 10 pictures is not much...should it have been 150 pictures, it might have made a more substantial and noticeable difference.
any comments please? thx in advance!

  • Can I create a mirror image of a 3D object without flattening it?

I'd like an exact copy of a 3D object I made to be looking back across my image at the other one. I feel retaining the 3D functionality of the second object enhances the authenticity of the image and keeps more options open if I decide I need to reposition them.
I can change flatten a copy of the layer and do a Image rotation: flip canvas horizontal. No problem. But if I want the shadow it casts to play across the background differently than a flip of it's counterpart, then I'd need the new one to be a 3D object as well.
Does anyone know how I might do this? I thought I might be able to find a transform panel for my first object, and that I could just enter the same values in reverse for my other object (they're not that complicated). But I don't see a tab for that. I'm new to PS 3D, so it's all kind of magic to me.
    Thank you!

Yes, you can duplicate objects which have their own properties.

  • Reverse printing a window (Mirror image) in smartforms/scripts

    Hi,
Is it posible to do a reverse print of a particular window(Mirror Image) in smartform/script output?
    Scenario:
I have 3 windows in the smartforms.
    Window1
    Window2
    Window3
    I want to print Window1 & Window3 normally & Window2 upside down like a mirror image.
    Regards,
    Sree

    Hi friend,
One suggestion if you are printing your company logo or some thing like that in the window2 then you can invert the image using paint and then again upload it.
Else if its some sort of text like that then you can rotate it using some functions like '^FWR' like that there are functions to rotate the text.
Or else you can handle this using or setting the printer settings but i think its not possible to change the settings for only one page.
See the Link : [Printing vertical text in Smartform|Printing vertical text in Smartform;.
In this the post by Julie LV will be helpful to you.
I think this will solve your issue if you face any queries please revert back to me i will help you.

  • Printer properties keeps changing 'Mirror Image' option to ON

    I have Word 2003 SP3.
My multifunction printer is HP Officejet Pro L7700.
In printer properties - under the 'advanced' tab, I have 'Mirror Image' set
    to OFF.
However, if I make a change under the 'features' tab in pinter properties,
the 'Mirror Image' will change to ON, without me wanting it to.
How can I keep this from happening?
    Thank you,
    Jamie

Well, I tried this.  As soon as i went into printing shortcuts and changed something, the Mirror Print went back to ON again.
Anyone else?  Somehow, I believe this started happening when MS Service Pack 3 was installed.
