How to change the description for standard task TS 10407929 in T code pftc_chg, it says, to maintain the object TS 10407929 in its original language Deutsch.

use the TX pftc, select the task 10407929 and view (not change).
Basic Data Tab you will have a button "redefine work item text"
As far as I know this should work also in english language

I am working on CATS workflow, where the requirement is to change the description of task. As in my case, as the workflow comes into the inbox of supervisor, the description it shows should contain the short-text which is maintained in CATSDB table for the respective entry. Is there any FM to change that. It is not displaying the vriable, which i am passing through binding from workflow to TASK.

I have a workflow, i have a task and rule and methods associated with that also. CATS workflow is created by me according to the requirement. Now a new requirement has come up where i have to display the value of CATSDB-LTXA1 also.
In task, there is a tab of task description. Here we write text which gets displayed when a workflow comes to the inbox. Along with the hard-coded text, i need to display value of CATSDB-LTXA1. I am paasing this variable through the event container to the task container (in triggering event tab of task). & i am giving it in task's description tab. But it is not getting displayed when the workflow comes to the inbox.
Please let me know if there is any FM to change the text of Task's description dynamically. I will use that in the method.

Creating Your Own Keywords and Short Texts
You can use the enhancement concept to create your own keywords for data elements stored in the ABAP Dictionary. The system uses keywords on screens to identify entry fields. Data elements can have up to three keywords of varying lengths.
The data element BBBNR, for example, identifies the first part of a customers international company number. The standard keywords for this data element in the ABAP Dictionary are:
Company no. 1
Comp. no.1
Company number 1
You might want to change these keywords to reflect your companys own terminology. Instead of Company number 1, you might want to identify the field as Corporate ID. If you change the keywords using the enhancement concept, your new texts will appear in all SAP screens where any field directly refers to the data element your altered. If SAP deliberately modifies a keyword on a standard screen, direct reference to the original data element is dissolved. Any changes you make to a keyword with the enhancement concept will not appear in standard screens that do not retain a direct reference to the modifed data element.
You can identify such screen-specific modifications by looking in the Screen Painter. Display the fields screen attributes and examine the field Modific. If an x appears, the SAP developer modified the data elements key word. Your own keyword will not appear.
The enhancement concept also allows you to alter a data elements short description (short text). This brief text appears whenever a user calls up online help for that field with F1 . To create your own keyword and short text documentation, proceed as follows:
Enter the Project management transaction by choosing Utilities ® Enhancements ® Project management from the ABAP Workbench menu
Choose Text enhancements ® Key words ® Change.
The system displays a dialog box.
Enter the name of data element.
If you want to see a list of all the screens where this data element appears, choose Ref. to screen before proceeding to the next step. The reference list shows you how many standard R/3 screens your new documentation will affect.
Choose Change from the application toolbar.
Edit the data elements keywords and short text.
Save your changes.
If you want to list all the data elements in your system that you have created customer-specific key words for, return to the main screen of the Project management transaction and choose Text enhancements ® Key words ® Display. The system displays all altered data elements and shows which changes were made.
Restoring SAP and Customer Versions
At some point you may want to restore all standard SAP keywords and short texts for data elements that you may have altered. You can restore the standard texts from the main screen of the Project management transaction. Choose Text enhancements ® Key words ® Restore SAP version. Specify the SAP release from which the texts are to be restored.
The restoration function is carried out by a special program that runs in the background. This program goes through all data elements in your SAP System and restores the standard texts where required.
Creating Your Own Online Documentation
The enhancement concept allows you to create your own online documentation for all data elements in the ABAP Dictionary. The system displays this documentation whenever a user chooses F1 to get more information about a screen field.
The standard documentation for the R/3 data element BBBNR reads: Here, you enter the first 7 digits of the international location number. You can enhance this documentation with additional information that your users may need. To write your own field documentation, proceed as follows:
Call the Project management transaction by choosing Utilities ® Enhancements ® Project management from the ABAP Workbench menu.
Choose Text enhancements ® Data elements ® New DE cust. docu.
The system displays a dialog box.
Specify the data elements name.

Change description of standard SAP field

Hi All,
I am trying to change the description of standard SAP field VKBUR from u201CSales Officeu201D to u201CDistrictu201D. I changed it in CMOD Text Enhancements Data Elements. The description has changed in many places but not in transaction VA01/02/03. I looked at screen SAPMV45A-4301. Field VBAK-VKBUR has attributes u201CModification of a field from the ABAP Dictionaryu201D set to u201CFu201D. It means when description is changed in dictionary, it is not transferred to this screen. So how can I change the description of this field in these transactions.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to put an SAP icon in the Workflow standard task description. But it is not appearing.
Also, is there any way to change the color and font of the text entered in the the description of the standard task?
To put an icon, i am following the steps mentioned below:-
then I am choosing a particular Icon, and its corresponding code comes in the editor, <718> in this case.

Task has been transported from develpment client to another client for integration testing.
in the shopping cart advice product has been created by the employee.
then it goes to advisor for the approval
This has been done by the workflow.
It is implemented in both dutch and english.
English - it is working fine.
Dutch - the task is not defined.(the code is missing)
after transporting , we did changes in the task created for implementing this approval description.
It was working fine in both dutch and english.
But the corrections in the code are there....
only in the output After transported to another client dutch part approval description is not correct some part of it are missing
Is the problem related to the transport or with the modifications of task defined ??
Can anyone suggest me how to solve this problem.

It is workitem text in SAP Business Workflow context.
Transaction: PFTC_CHG, Standard Task 10008126, Edit -> Workitem text -> Redefine.
Approve shopping cart of &REQUISITIONERNAME& with value &REQREQ.TOTALVALUESTRING& &CURRENCYREQREQ&
You can include any container value in the workitem text. Please note space is required before and after the variable and the final workitem text has some text length limitation.

We implement the standard leave request.
The only change we want is on the approver side.
We want to change the description of the button Review to Confirm.
We did change te description on the IView.
The inbox (UWL) still display the old description.
We did re-register.
Is this change possible without a new Web dynpro application?

There is no way releated to task of the workflow for this webdynpro. Change in the webdynpro only will effect your requirement. Nothing to do with it. Instead of using the std task you dont you copy the std and create a custom and also copy the std workflow and tag in spro and just check it. Put in PORTAL forum you will get more reliable answers.

Using Workflow in CATS instead of Standard Task ??

Hi All,
We are using CATS on ESS to allow users to enter their overtime and time related payments. The Data Entry Profile is configured with 'Approval Required', 'Workflow approval' and 'Automatic recipient' selected. We have entered a standard task which all seems to work ok. Issue we have is that the business requires additional functionality where if a manager does not process the approval request within a no of days that the request is escalated to the next manager. They also dont like the message content in the rejection message that is sent to the employee when the manager rejects the request. We could do this if it was a full Workflow being used but since the configuration only allows you to enter a task and not a workflow we are trying to find a workaround. Looking at a couple of possibilities around triggering a workflow separately. Has anyone come across this requirement and can suggest any workarounds.

I have a requirement as below:
1. Excecute the transaction CV04N
2. Give Document value(s) and Excecute
3. Double click on any row on the ALV generated which takes you to CV03N transaction
4. Here in the additional data Tab, I need to concatenate Subject1,Subject3,Subject3 values and this value need to be put Description in the Document data Tab.
Ex:
If Subject1 = Test1, Subject2 = Test2 and Subject3 = Test3 then i have to change the description as Test1
Test2 Test3 When the change followed by save is clicked.
Please drop your suitable answers ASAP.

Change the description of a field in a SAP QUERY

Can i change the description of a field in a SAP QUERY report in the output of the report.or only the standard descriptions can be displayed.

HI,
in query maintenance (sq01) you can change the text of the field at the selection screen (change the selection text in the screen where you choose the selection fields) and the header text in the output list (basiclist maintennace , go to "basic list header", double-click each header field to maintain the text). This change is only for the particular query. No ABAP-er required to do so.

Combine standard task (ABAP method call) and additional UWL Action Handlers

Hi, i have defined a task with an asynchronous ABAP method call and a terminating event which i want to use "as is" in the universal worklist, that means that the standard action has to be the ABAP method call defined for the task.
In addition to that i want to add an extra button to the workitem view in the worklist which opens a web dynpro application. The web dynpro needs a parameter from the workitem container. Opening the web dynpro is not required for completing the task, so i do not consider using secondary methods.
I created an UWLConfiguration for the task type without defining the defaultAction attribute, since defaultAction should not be overwritten. I wanted to use SAPWebDynproABAPLauncher to generate the button since i can easily include values from the workitem container in the call.
When executing a workitem from the worklist the ABAP method call is not performed, instead a window opens which just displays the workitem. The button to web dynpro is generated and works fine.
Does anyone have a clue how i can use UWL to define an additional button with SAPWebDynproABAPLauncher without overwriting the standard task definition?

Predefined Appraisal - Changing scale descriptions

All,
I am aware that the predefined performance management solution is delivered with a fixed set of scales that you can use. My question is that can you amend the descriptions of these scales so they are incorporated correctly.
An example would be changing the descriptions ONLY (numbers remain the same) of the 90000011 Standard Quality Scale (1-5) that is associated with the predefined from Not Fulfilled, Partially Fulfilled, Met, Exceeds and Fully Exceeds to Not met, Almost there, Good Job, Brilliant and Superstar. And these new descriptions are then incorporated into the predefined WD screen?
As I am without access to a sandbox at present I cannot check.

Step 1:
Go to SE11 and enter table name VKPF and hit display. Please note the data element for the field VKPF-POSTX.
Step 2:
You can change the text by navigating through the following menu
Transaction CMOD
GoTo->Text Enhancements -> Keywords -> Change -> Enter the data element from step 1.
Step 3
Save the changes to the text.
