Change of mobo for sandy bridge, will it affect software use (CS5 master)

Hello - new to this as you can tell from my question.
Just completed my new build, was very pleased with everything - system works a treat and about to purchase and intsall and register cs5 master this w/e
Realised may need to change mobo in April = advised by intel beacuse of sata2 controller problem with p67 chipset.I intend to replace mobo when corrected versions become available in April.
Question - my system disk is going to be the c300 ssd 128gb - it will contain - windows 7 ultimate, ms office, and cs5 master. When I change the mobo will my pc still work? Do i have to de register the software when i change mobo? or register it again?  Am I better of waiting til April before I install cs5 (though prefer not to). The components of my build will be the very same ones apart from the defective  mobo
I heard somewhere that I can legally use the software on 2 pc's though not at the same time. WIll I still be able to install and use it on my laptop if I need to, after I have changed the mobo in April.
(Also -- does anyone know the answers to the questions if for ms office.)
Thans for you help. I have not installed cs5 on a new build myself before, so really dont know what to expect after changing mobo
(My system -2600k, gigabyte p67a ud7, c300 128gb ssd, 2 *1tb spinpoint f3, evga 580, 8gb ripjaws (2*4gb), liteon bd writer, noctua nhd14, antec hcp1200, lian li x900, windows 7 ultimate)

Well, I finally received my motherboard (Gigabyte P67A-UD7). Looks exactly like the old one, at least on casual inspection. Packaging is identical except for the graphics on the outer box. Only difference inside the box is that the SATA cables are black (first ones were blue). I'd forgotten how pretty these boards are- it was kinda cool to have two in the hand...
The switch was monkey-simple. I had to do one re-start, and since I added a few HDD's I had to change the boot order. (I know, this was a Very Bad Idea. Rule #3 is Never Upgrade More Than One Thing At A Time. But it was such a great opportunity to run more power cables and work on the cable management that I couldn't resist.)
Anyways, the software RAIDs were recognized, the drives were there, everything works the way it did and is absolutely fine: it even plays perfectly nicely with a couple of F2s that were a complete nightmare in my older system.
In short, I checked the new and old boxes and got all the old packing together;
-took out the new board and took off the CPU cover;
-removed the GPU and cables from the old board and labelled them;
-removed the old board from the case, took off the cooler and cleaned it. Don't forget a bottle of 99% Isopropyl alcohol and a few pieces of gauze to clean the old thermal compound off the CPU and cooler.
-cleaned the cpu, removed it, put it in the new board, put on paste and reinstalled the cooler;
-packed up the old board and all accessories;
-did what i wanted to do in the case, reinstalled the board, hooked it up and reinstalled the video card.
(I probably missed some vital steps. This is not a guide, just a gentle encouragement to do it!)
I deactivated CS5 first using the total deactivation method so when I tried to open it I had to re-enter the serial number. Takes 5 seconds if you've already saved it to a text file- and I have.
I forgot to deactivate Lightroom and it didn't seem to make any difference, but I only have it on this machine. I would recommend deactivating first. Can't hurt and like Harm (and maybe others) said it takes seconds.
All in all, it was a totally painless experience (as these things go) and a great opportunity to do a few upgrades I'd been putting off.

  • When I change the folder for deleted files will files sent there be deleted as well?

    Hello! I selected the tick at forwarding mails. And I also checked (✓) for deleting those mails. In addition I selected to send deleted e-mails to a new folder. Now the name of the new folder is behind the bin symbol (). Will mails in the new folder be deleted after 30 days or will they stay. I want them to stay, so if there is a different way to forwand and mark the mails as read, I would be happy if you could tell me!

    The solutions is either of the following:
    Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
    Copy the photos back into the exact same folder and folder location that they were in before
    I don't know what you actually did "when I pasted it back" ... but the bigger issue is that you shouldn't be working with these files in your operating system, period. Once you import them into Lightroom, you don't manage these files in your operating system.

  • How to change a password for an OpenLDAP user, which fails when using Lion's System Preferences?

    The Problem
    Users are unable to change their password using System Preferences -> Users & Groups on a Mac that is connected to an LDAP server (specifically, OpenLDAP).
    This error appears to be a result of OS X 10.7.4 now sending the username of the user rather than their full DN (e.g. it's sending bobsmith, notuid=bobsmith,ou=Users,dc=companyname,dc=com).
    (a bug report for this issue has been filed with Apple and can be seen on OpenRader @http://openradar.appspot.com/11768796)
    Steps to Reproduce:
    Try to change the password using the System Preferences -> Users & Groups prefpane on Lion. It fails with the following error message:
    The password for the account “bobsmith” was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help.
    Expected Results:
    The password should be changed.
    Actual Results:
    The error appears, and on the LDAP server, an error like the following is logged:
    Jun 28 08:42:21 ldap3 slapd[7810]: conn=10518785 op=2 RESULT oid= err=21 text=Invalid DN
    This error appears to be a result of OS X 10.7.4 now sending the username of the user rather than their full DN (e.g. it's sending bobsmith, notuid=bobsmith,ou=Users,dc=companyname,dc=com)
    Notes: This was encountered by someone else over at the AFP548.com forums who ended up patching their LDAP server to resolve the issue. This shouldn't require patching LDAP to resolve, however. Lion needs to (at least have an option to) send the full DN of a user requesting to change their password, not the short username:
    Text from above forum link (in case it is taken down):
    So, I’ve got this OpenLDAP server with network home directories at home that all of my Mac machines authenticate to. Everybody can bounce around to whatever Mac is available. It works great.
    Anyway, with Snow Leopard, I was able to change user passwords via System Preferences. However, that got broken when I upgraded to Lion (amongst other things). Both Snow Leopard and Lion send exop’s to the ldap server, but for whatever reason, the id is screwed up in Lion (or at least, it’s screwed up on the two machines at home I tested this with). Instead of sending the user’s DN, e.g. “uid=user,cn=users,ou=something,dc=somewhere,dc=com”, the ldap server is only sent the uid, e.g. “user”. The ldap server is expecting a DN here, so naturally, it fails with the error “Invalid DN”.
    Bummer.
    So, to work around that, I had to patch OpenLDAP (version 2.4.26 in this case). Now, when my server can’t resolve the id it’s given during a password change, it will look at the bind DN, and if the id string is contained within the bind DN string, it will just use the bind DN as the entry to change. I figured this would still allow me to manually specify password changes via an admin account while still giving users the ability to change their own passwords without having to point them at a webpage (lame).
    I should point out that all my accounts have the uid as part of the DN… I guess if you were doing some kind of crazy SASL mappings, this might not work for you…
    Anyway, here’s the patch in case anyone else is interested… If it works for you, great. If not, oh well.

  • If we switch from Time Warner to AT&T, our e-mail address(es) will also change. How will this affect our use of Firefox? Will we have to re-register?

    We intend to rid ourselves of anything TimeWarner. AT&T will probably be our next stop.
    If our e-mail addresses change, do we have to re-register with all things "Firefox"?
    What changes should we prepare to handle?

    If you have e-mail thru Time Warner servers, they may be shut down if you
    cancel them. Check with them to be sure.<BR><BR>
    If your e-mail changes, you should go to '''every site''' that has your profile and
    change the e-mail they have on record.<BR><BR>
    While using the e-mail service of a provider is good to have, what happens
    when you no longer use that provider? A good thing to do is to check out

    to worry about keeping a provider just for the mail box.

  • Is Apple working on a fix for ios6 that will stop it from using huge data in the iphone 4s?

    When I upgraded my iPhone 4s to ios6, it started using huge amounts of data.  My provider refuses to reimburse me.  Today they told me that Apple has acknowledged the problem and has fixed it in ois6.3.  However, ois6.3 is unavailable for the 4s, and my provider tells me that Apple has not acknowledged that the problem exists in the 4s.  They referred me to Apple.  However, because the phone is off warranty, I will have to pay $35 + tax to talk to an Apple rep--and surely Apple knows the problem extends to the 4s, because it is widely discussed on-line.  I have not seen any reference to whether Apple is working on a fix for the 4s.  Does anyone know?  I can't afford this much longer and am going to have pay a lot of money to switch phones.  And when I switch phones, it won't be an Apple, which will also make me sad--but it is ridiculous for them to produce a problem that is costing so much money and then not to acknowledge it exists.  I am hoping that having addressed it in the 5, they will now turn to the 4s.  Does anyone know?

    Yeah, the 6.0.2 update was rolled out to deal with that issue amongs others. But getting it out for the older models was either not high priority or more complex than they anticipated. So the wait continues till it shows up on the update channel.
    Pestering Apple Support might not get it done quicker, but at least will offer some sort of vicarious revenge and relief.

    The latest UEFI BIOS upgrade for this Sandy Bridge H67-based motherboard is 7.12, dated 10/12/2011. The chipset has the capability to run Ivy Bridge CPUs (released Q4 2011) with a BIOS update to the microcode table (add the CPUID table entries for the 306xx CPUs to the 209xx Sandy Bridge CPUs already in the table, that's all!). I have checked the BIOS using AMI's MMtool, and BIOS ver 7.12 only supports Sandy Bridge CPUs. Can customers using the IPISB-CH2 motherboard, like me, get a BIOS update to support IvyBridge CPUs? -imsai8080 ref:http://www.asrock.com/news/events/2012ivy/ Please note that ASRock is the end-user sales department of Pegatron, which made the IPISB-CH2 motherboard for HP.H67DE3 looks very like the "Chicago" board. further ref:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1155http://www.techpowerup.com/153756/ivy-bridge-quad-core-to-have-77w-tdp-intel-plans-for-lga1155-ivy-bridge-entry.html

I have examined the microcode and there is no support for it, though there is pleanty of room to add it. The BIOS itself is dated 10/12/2011. Simply download the update, change the file extension to .zip, look in the zip, and you'll see the actual mod date for CHG_712_Signed.rom file is 10/12/2011. All they did was update the sp56123.rtf file on 2/14/2012, and later moved it the newer Support format in 4/21/2013 (no files were changed internally). I don't know why they improperly dated it for 4/13. Hope that answers your question, although not the answer either of us wanted.Just to confirm, that's what I'm currently running on a h8-1260t, and 10/12/2011 is the date embedded in the BIOS as well.Big_Dave:Both of us understand that Pegatron is not a retail supplier, and requests for BIOS updates come from the customer, HP. The Ivy Bridge processors were released April 2012, 4 months after the intro of the Chicago board, and ASRock, the *retail* side of Pegatron, announced that all 2nd gen Sandy Bridge mobos (including the H67 motherboards) would have Ivy Bridge support added. IMHO, HP should have requested a BIOS upgrade for their 2nd gen Sandy Bridge Pegatron-based HP motherboards. Obviously, that didn't happen, since their only update is actually dated 10/2011 (see above).It doesn't seem unreasonable to me for HP to drop an request to Pegatron, a *current* motherboard supplier for HP, to cut an upgrade to support the HP motherboards derived fom the retail motherboards Pegatron already have upgraded circa 3 months after the release of the HP (Pegatron) "Chicago" motherboard, which looks AMAZINGLY like the ASRock (Pegatron retail) H67DE3 with the dual graphics support removed (standard for HP), SATA 4 & 5 moved to board edge, and HP proprietary frontpanel connector added in the original place for the H67DE3 SATA 4 & 5 <grin>. Probably a couple minutes with the right BIOS tools and updated microcode from Intel (which I also have!), to support all Chicago-based systems. I'm hoping that maybe a HP Support rep can chime in on this, or someone can tell me where to find tools to recompile to add the SAFUWIN-compatible checksums to a modded BIOS? -Imsai8080 P.S. If it wasn't for the code checksums and the nonstandard SAFUWIN flash programmer, I would already have added the Ivy Bridge microcode myself. Gave it a try, no go so far, but I might keep trying.

  • Sandy bridge is ok now I hope? New build help.

    I did do some searching on here and am building a new machine to work with ppcs5.5 .
    This forum has the best tech guys I have ever seen so I will do my best out of respect to make my text ramblings clear lol.
    I have built the Videoguys DIY 8 system http://www.videoguys.com/Guide/E/Videoguys+DIY9+Its+Time+for+Sandy+Bridge+E/0xe9b142f408a2 b03ab88144a434e88de7.aspx
    I also have 5  drives at my disposal. 1= OS drive/boot, the other four still up in the air on best setup for this machine. I did look at Harms generic disk displays and might
    have an idea but open to whatever advice is offered. Ok advice would be still awesome. ; )
    I guess I am just making sure theis setup with the 17 2600 is a good choice for cs5.5 and 6.
    I did see some negatives on the forum about it. I have one day till I must decide to keep or return lol. Ouch.
    Thank you for your time guys. I mena that.
    David

    David,
    This looks like a nice system you are building. You are ahead of me.
    Disk setup is a rather complicated matter, and especially with tapeless formats, since then backup really becomes an issue. From a performance POV raid0 is very nice, it is fast and cheap, it does not require a dedicated controller, it can be run from the mobo with minimal CPU overhead, but if one drive fails, all your data are irretrievably lost. That is thus the downside of raid0. Have a look at the 'featured discussion' about raid and rebuilding issues at the top of the page, it may be helpfull.
    Also have a look at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/662972?start=0&tstart=0 and similar articles.

  • HP PAVILION dv7-5000. sandy bridge

    I just talking with Intel Technical Support Engineer and they say to me -"Marina, this design flaw with the chipset, will cause its performance (of Sata port 2-5) degrade over time, and not immediately. I would request you to contact HP for support on this. They will assist you in the correct manner, for this chipset" so what say OEM company HP?

    There is a problem with the SATA II ports on the motherboards for Sandy Bridge processors. They say that up to 5% of them may have troubles in the future but going to replace all the motherboards (laptops, desktops) anyway. If your laptop has a Sandy Bridge processor, call HP or the seller of the laptop and ask them for a replacement. It's a similar issue like with the Nvidia graphics cards some time ago..

  • Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge Upgrade in 2012

    PC World reports:
    "We also know that Ivy Bridge will be compatible with the LGA 1155 socket--great news for Sandy Bridge owners, who may not need to buy an entirely new motherboard to upgrade."

    Does that mean I will be able to put an Ivy Bridge CPU into my W520?

    @JDay,
    I am not sure if it applies for laptops but desktop CPU has BIOS whitelist. I came across threads that when customer tries to upgrade the CPU (even in the same series) the BIOS does not recognize the CPU after upgrading due to BIOS whitelist.
    Thus I am not surprise if they have BIOS whitelist for CPU on the ThinkPads.
    That happens when you try to stick a processor in a motherboard that shipped with a BIOS that was shipped with firmware intended for processors with less cores. Not a whitelist just the firmware freaking out because there were more cores than it was made to handle. This issue was very common when hexa-core Phenom II CPUs came out and could be fixed in all but a few cases (about 1% of motherboard models didn't have an update) by simply putting the old CPU back in and flashing to the newest BIOS firmware revision.
    EDIT: If a BIOS update is required you can bet someone over at the MyDigitalLife forums will release a modified one, especially if it is requested. That is the same place you can find a non-whitelisted BIOS for most ThinkPad models.

    Hi,,
    To be able to call a function module in an update work process, you must flag it in the Function Builder. When you create the function module, set the Process Type attribute to Update with immediate start
    Alternatively u can use this function module.
    CRM_STATUS_DATA_SAVE_DB
    BAPI_CUSTOMERCRM_CHANGE (If u wish to use a bapi for this).
    Also , Let me know what error you got when implementing other function module.Does the function module didnt return any error but still the value is not changed for pricing condition type?

  • How to change application action for all Firefox users?

    Hi,
    Is there any way I can change application action for all FF users. I am using Firefox admin 0.5.9.3 and deploy FF 3.6 through GP.
    Thanks

    You can change the system colors based on the system you are logging on to.  We have many users here doing that. (Red for prod, Green for Dev, etc)  You cannot use the Sap signature Design theme as it does not allow color changing.  I explained this in another post and how to change it.
    Re: Set Color for several system with sap gui 7.20
    To answer your question on how to change this for ALL users... That I cannot answer as our user base differs and they change it as they wish.  Hope this helps.
