Change of name - can't access purchased songs

Hi - Any advice welcome:
I have purchased a lot of songs from itunes on line store - this was done using my previous married name and a different computer; I recently got divorced and I have a new computer (standard windows XP - sorry!) and have changed my name back to my maiden name. Unfortunately I now can not play the purchased itunes - the message pop up says that this compute not authorised to play the songs purchased. How can I update my information so that they are accepted on my new computer and new login? I have no access to my old computer or login account.
Many thanks for any help.
J

  • Can't access purchased songs in iTunes

I have purchased several songs through iTunes, but can no longer access them with a reason along the line of "license already given to 5 computers". However, that's not true. I have reinstalled the operating system on my machine several times over the years, for various reason, but the machine itself never changed. How can I get access to my purchased songs again?

Same problem here (Germany), I have the problems since 5:30 AM CET
    Can´t download any song.

  • Changed iTunes password, can't access purchased programs

I changed my iTunes password and now I can't access all the TV shows I purchased. I tried using the old password but that didn't work. Perhaps I made a mistake but I don't want to loose all the stuff I'd bought. Any suggestions?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    Yes. Update to iTunes 10.3.1
Then go to the iTunes Store and click Purchased "new" under Music Quick Links on the right side of the iTunes window.
You can re download your purchased content from the next window.

If you right mouse and select Get info it will show you the Apple ID used to purchase these songs.
Usually the name of an apple id is based on the email. So knowing that you may have forgotten the Apple ID password.
You can request a new password here http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/

  • Why can't i purchase songs in "browse"

Why can't i purchase songs from "browse" mode?

I suddenly have the same exact problem with both my Macs - MBP 10.6.8 with iTunes 10.7, as well as an old PPC. The button for 'buy" "or "download" or "rent" is no longer functional. I click on the button but nothing happens.
And we're not alone - there are a lot of similar complaints just recently in Apple discussions and other forums in the past few days. It doesn't seem to matter which OS or iTunes version is used, or even if it's a Mac or PC. Apparently its only affecting some. So far, there doesn't seem to be a fix.
Maybe if enough people complain, Apple will find a fix.
Edit: I just saw this temporary fix on another thread that worked for me:
"click on drop-down, add to wish list, and then answer yes to the prompt about "prices may change, do you want to download now" works."

  • HT1349 Can't sync purchased songs listed as protected aac audio file to Blackberry Link. songs marked just aac audio file. Repurchased one song and worked O.K.. Is there an easier way than having tp re-purchase half of library?

Can,t sync purchased songs marked Protected AAC audio file to Blackberry Link. Songs marked just AAC audio file O.K. Repurchased one song now listed as AAC audio file and now works. Any simpler way to do this with existing protected song other than re-purchase all of them?

Add the ability to randomly select a new background from a pre selected group of photos every time the player is turned on or each day.
I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! (i might have to go out and buy one then :P)
I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
    Once again, great review

  • I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  The purchases are on my account.

I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  I have searched my library but they are not there.  Itunes says that all recently purchased items have been downloaded.  Where are the songs?

I don't know how, but this problem resolved itself for me.  If you don't see the downloads go to Documents, My Music, iTunes and then scrounge around to see if you can find a file with new downloads in there.  Then you can drag them to the iTunes icon.
Then try shutting down iTunes, and your computer and restart to see if this issue fixes itself.  I know, only a Mackie would think that a computer could fix itself.

  • How can I put purchased songs from my iPad to my daughters iPod?

How can I load purchased songs from my iPad to my daughters iPod?

You can either sync them to her iPod using iTunes, or sign into your Apple ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store on her iPod and download them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.  If she is already signed into a different ID, tap it, sign out, then sign into your ID.  (Note: If she has already enabled automatic downloads or downloaded previous purchases on her iPod using a different ID, she will have to wait 90 days before she can switch IDs to yours.)

  • HT204074 Our new iphone5 id name is the same as an existing still in use iphone4 in the family; if I remove the devise; change its name can I then immediately associate it with the correct name.

I have read the HT4627 but I think my original question is more specific  Our new iphone5 id name is the same as an existing still in use iphone4 in the family; if I remove the devise; change its name can I then immediately associate it with the correct name.

You can change the name of a device on it via Settings > General > About > Name - you shouldn't need to remove the association and then reassociate it.

  • How to access purchased songs on different computer

Hi - I want to access purchased songs that I downloaded to my Mac on my PC, but cannot find them. I "authorized" the PC (again) and now it says I have 4 computers authorized (and I only have 2). This did still did not enable my viewing/dowloading of purchases. Help! Thx. dj

Here is an Apple article on that.

I have my Mac and PC networked together with file sharing turned on, so I use that.

  • Can't access any songs after reinstallation of iTunes

Not very good with computers or anything, so please be gentle.
I got stuck with the whole Version 5 bug and had to re-install my iTunes software in order to be able to use it. I got through that okay, but now I have another huge problem.
Every time I try to listen to one of the songs that I bought off at the music store before I had to reinstall iTunes, a message pops up saying that I'm not authorized to play that song on this computer (which seems impossible, as I downloaded the song on this computer in the first place, but you know, whatever). It tells me to log on in order to authorize the playing of the song and when I do, it redirects me to a screen in the Music Store that tells me to "please downoad version 5," which obviously I really do not want to do as that's what screwed up my iTunes in the first place. Then when I try to go back to the song to actually play it, thinking I must have authorized it by now, it tells me the song STILL isn't authorized.
I've tried this with more than one song and none of them work. I've also tried to use the music files I coped for back-up, just in case something went wrong during reinstallation, but those songs won't play either. I could redownload them all but that would be too much money for songs I already paid for in the first place.
Am I doing something wrong, or does Steve Jobs just hate me?
Pleeeeease help. I really, really want my music back. ;(\
Oh, and if it helps the problem any, my Ipod is a mini and my iTunes is version 4.6, I think. Not sure if that information is necessary but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
EDIT: Okay, I checked what Apple actually has to say about this whole authorization thing. IT says the problem is probably that I have too many computers authorized to play the song, but I know that absolutely cannot be the case, as I only use one computer with my iTunes.
Is there a way to check how many computer iTunes thinks the song is registered with? because maybe it thinks there's more then five when there's really only one.

You've probably already got things figured out by now, but since I just saw your post, and the same thing happened to me, I figured I'd tell you how I fixed it just in case. My instructions are kind of long, but I wrote them up for me this way in case it happens again.
    1.     If you just authorize again, like it asks you to do, you will probably use up 2 of the 5 authorizations that you’re allowed. (You’re only allowed to play your purchased music on 5 computers. If you get a 6th computer, you have to de-authorize one of the others. If you sell your computer, you should de-authorize it first while you still have access to it or you won’t be able to.)
    2.     Quit out of the error box, without authorizing.
    3.     Click on ‘Music Store’ in your Source column.
    4.     Click once on your account name; under the eye, to the right of ‘Account.’
    5.     A box comes up asking you to enter your password for your apple id.
    6.     Enter your password, then click on ‘View Account’.
    7.     The screen that comes up will tell you how many computers you currently have authorized to play your purchased music.
    8.     If it says: “Computer Authorizations: One machine is authorized to play music purchased with this account”, then something is wrong because it obviously isn’t letting your one machine play music.
    9.     So, you need to go ahead and de-authorize your machine and reauthorize it to keep it from using up 2 authorizations.
    10.     Click on ‘Advanced’ on the top menu bar of Itunes, and then ‘De-authorize Computer…’.
    11.     Make sure the top radio button is selected, next to De-authorize Computer for Music Store Account.
    12.     Click ‘OK’.
    13.     Then go back and repeat steps 3-7, to look again to see how many computers you have authorized. It should now say ‘0’.
    14.     Then, try to play one of your songs that was purchased. You can always click on the ‘Purchased Music’ link in the ‘Source’ column to find all of your purchased music.
    15.     The same box will come up asking you to authorize your machine. Go ahead and do it now because now it will only cause one computer to be authorized.
    16.     You only have to do this on one of your purchased songs. All the rest of the purchased music will work after that.
