Change of Video Frame One Sample Out of Sync with Correct Point on Timeline

Change of Video Frame One Sample Out of Sync with Correct Point on Timeline.
It has been found on the author's PC that, in Audition 3 in Multitrack View, a video file displayed in the video window will change its frame one sample later than it should do with respect to the correct point on the timeline. This has led to extra work having to be done by the author, as detailed later.
To demonstrate this issue:
Create a new multitrack session. Enable the Time and Video windows. Enable only 'Snap to Frames'.
Using an external program, render a two-frame video clip at 25fps. Let the first frame contain the letter 'A', and the second frame contain the letter 'B'. Making sure that the Display Time Format is set appropriately, in this case at 'SMPTE 25 fps (EBU)', lock this clip on the multitrack timeline, ensuring that the clip starts at time 00:00:00:00.
Create a mono audio clip of silence at 48kHz 32-bit that is two frames long. Lock it on an audio track, ensuring that the clip starts at time 00:00:00:00.
Place the cursor at time 00:00:00:01 and create a cue marker at this point by pressing F8.
Zoom into the timeline so that approximately twenty samples are visible, with the cursor lying on the cue marker in the middle of the screen. The Time window should display 00:00:00:01. The Video window should display the letter 'A'.
Move the cursor back in time (leftwards) by one sample. The Time window should change its display to 00:00:00:00, whilst the Video window should still show the letter 'A'.
Move the cursor forwards in time (rightwards) by one sample, so that it overlays the cue marker again. The Time window should change its display back to 00:00:00:01, whilst the Video window remains showing the letter 'A'.
Move the cursor forwards in time (rightwards) by one more sample. The Time window's display should remain at 00:00:00:01, but the Video window should now display the letter 'B'.
As can be seen from the above steps, the video's change of frame content occurs incorrectly one sample later than it should; the change of video frame content should occur simultaneously with the change of the frame number displayed in the Time window, which is at the point that the cue marker has been placed.
The practical effect of this issue is that it has caused the author a huge amount of extra work on an 89-minute long soundtrack-for-video timeline. There were over 1100 changes of shot which the author wished to mark by placing cue markers at the beginning of every shot. This should have been a quite simple process of enabling 'Snap to Frames', stepping through the video, and laying cue markers down by pressing F8 when the shot was seen to change.
Because currently the Video window (referencing the cursor laying over a cue marker
i that has been placed on the timeline using the 'Snap to Frames' option
) will actually display the end moments of the previous frame rather than the beginning moments of the current frame, laying down a cue marker when the shot is seen to change will actually place that marker at the beginning moments of the second frame of the new shot, not at the beginning moments of the first frame of the new shot, i.e. the cue marker placed will be one frame later in time than it should be. If it is wished for the cue marker to, as best it can, represent the beginning moments of the first frame of the new shot, it has to be manually repositioned so that it is at least a sample later in time than the time at which the shot has actually changed, in order for the Video window to correctly display the content.
The author had to manually reposition all 1100+ cue markers.
Ideally, the Video window should display a change of video frame in synchronization with the change of the frame display in the Time window, which occurs at the position of the 'Snap to Frames' point.

  • Video playback on pc out of sync with audio

hello, play back on iPhone all ok but when I play it on my pc the video lags and the audio is out of sync.
heres the strange part. If i create a project with the video using iMovie and do not edit it at all and save it as 1080hd, that video plays on pc all ok

Q? Are you using Quicktime to play the video on your PC or other video player like Real Player?
As some 3rd party players may not sinc right or you may have to download a newer codec.
I use GOM player and it works well on my PC for video from iPhone 4S.
    Hope this helps.

  • Video runs slow on firefox and out of sync with audio with abode flash 12.

Ever since I installed adobe flash player 12 my videos run slow and out of sync with the audio it is like it pauses for a couple seconds and starts back working and keeps doing that.

    Hi jth10,
The troubleshooting steps provided by Adobe can be found here: [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Windows_users]
    * Are there any settings in the Flash settings manager that changed when you updated? [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html]
*These are the recommended settings for specific resolutions [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/poor-video-quality-flash-player.html]
You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in the Adobe settings menu.

  • Video and sound slightly out of sync when screen mirroring

When I start screen mirroring and play a video, then my macbook screen matches perfectly with the sound output from my stereo, but my tv is slightly delayed compared to my macbook which makes the sound and video out of sync. it is something like 1/10th or 1/20th a second, but it is extremely annoying.
Anyone has the same problem or knows how to solve this?

What format were the original items ?
What frame rate are they in the original ?
What format are they on the AppleTV (H264 video AAC audio is the most common, but there are others) ?
What is the video frame rate now ?
Most out of syncs come from an imperfect attempt to encode for AppleTV. ie. DVD frame rate is 29.97fps. Many encode this to 30fps. So the movie plays 0.1% too fast, too little for you to notice, but at the end of a 100 minute film, the audio is 6 seconds out of sync with the video. Or 3 seconds on a 45 minute TV show.
Also check the source. I'd had DVDs (Alien Resurrection) jump 10 seconds out of sync in the middle of the movie. Back to the shop for that one.

  • Video and sound are out of sync

The picture and sound my Apple TV are out of sync by several seconds. THese are on items that have been copied to Apple TV as opposed to streaming from iTunes. Anyone have experience with this? What's the solution?
    Thanks.

I too have the same problem.  The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video.  Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   its a joke,  my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well.  at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues.  Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!,  there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

  • When I trim a Video in QTpro, the video and audio become out of sync

I use mpstreamclip to export video to mov or mp4 files. When I load up on QT pro and then do some trimming, the resultant clips often have audio and video that are slightly out of sync.
Can anyone provide some guidance on what to do?
    Thanks so much.
    Skip

I think it is going to be a problem with the fps setting on export. If you entered 30 fps as the setting for export and you found the result had the audio getting further and further ahead of the video the longer you watched it may be that you needed to enter a frame rate of 29.97 fps to keep things in sync. I am doing similar tests on some conversions because I have had sync problems as well. I will repost when I check my current export at 29.97 fps.

  • Video - dialog goes out of sync with video

When I play Movies or T.V. shows on my iTouch the dialog (or audio) gets out of sync with the video. It starts happening after about 5 minutes of play. I close out of the video, re-open it and it's back in sync again for about another 5 minutes.
I had a second generation iTouch and have just purchased a 3rd gen iTouch and it does it on both. It happens on every movie or t.v. show I watch.
    Any suggestions?

I really appreciate your help. I tried it with the link you provided and it appears it's the wrong format type. The one I'm trying to convert is a .wmv file. I think that link was mainly for mpegs.
I did successfully convert a 3rd movie .wmv file using videora, so I have to think the problem lies with this one movie clip. What could it be? It plays fine on my computer! The video itself is fine after the conversion too, it's just moving too fast as if in fast forward mode. Then when the video ends (before the music, cuz it's not in sync), the video keeps backing up and continuing from later and later previous spots until the song ends.
If you're out of ideas, I guess I'll try to see if I can find the video somewhere else and download it again (I got this video free from a website). It's super cool.. An F-18 pilot video tapes himself performing aerial maneuvers to the song "magic carpet ride". Darn, I REALLY want that on my ipod!!

  • Captured Video's Audio is out of Sync

I have captured a MiniDV tape
    at NTSC/48KHz via Firewire
and the Video's Audio is out of sync
in both the Viewer and Canvas
The original tape playback is fine
so I'm not sure why this is happening
My Capture Presets are correct and
I re-captured the same clip twice and
    the same Sync problem persists
    Please advise, thanks

    Silal,
I noticed that your response, here was based on a 32 Khz audio setting. Can you elaborate a little more on why this would tend to throw audio and video out of synch?
I am capturing DV NTSC, 32 Khz video and audio, (via. mini DV tape) The clip that I am importing is one, long, 60 minute clip. Even though I have created a new setup that indicates the audio will be captured at 32 Khz, I am finding serious video/audio synch problems towards the end of the clip.
Typically I use the DV NTSC firewire, 48Klhz setting when I create a new project but I don't usually capture long clips like this. Can you offer up any suggestions on what I might try to remedy this synch problem?
The material that I am using is an already edited piece that was dumped onto miniDV tape. I need to re-capture this material to FCP so that I can re-order its segment positioning for a new DVD. The tapes have solid time code but I am getting those annoying synch issues when I review the footage after capture.
Where else should I be making adjustments to my project settings other than where I have already made them? Thanks.
    Steve

  • Audio several seconds out of sync with live video stream.

I did a live stream last week using 282,482,832,1500Kbps streams. What would cause the audio to get out of sync with the live video stream? I'm trying to determine if it was  bandwidth related, cpu/memory issue on the FMIS 4.5 server, or an issue with encoding PC exceeding it's limits?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Which device are you using? Are audio and video coming from the same device or different devices?
Is it a USB device? Try changing the device and see if there is any difference. Changing bitrates will not affect audio-video sync.

  • Why are my imovie video and garageband track out of sync?

    Hi
I'm currently making a video of an original song for youtube. I've been recording the video in imovie and the audio in garageband.  I mixed down the audio in garageband and imported it to imovie. I lined up the audio with the visual at the start of the track, only to find it gradually goes out of sync with the video. I tried a different approach, syncing up the video and audio at the end of the song. I went back to the start of the song to see how in sync it was and the audio started way before I open my mouth! Unfortunately imovie did not record any sound, so I can't use the imovie sound to sync it.
I have literally no idea how the video and audio could be going out of time! I have one video and one audio track, so it's not a mix up.
It is totally bizarre and I wonder if anyone could suggest what's caused it/how to solve it.
    Thanks
    Vic

First do not use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option in iMovie.  Use the Share ➙ Media Browser.  The former loses considerable quality in the shared movie.  Drag the movie from the Media/Movies pane in iDVD into the iDVD menu window.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Clips from Project bin to source monitor causing video output to go out of sync(CS6 and CC)

Any footage I double-click or drag from the Project window to the Source monitor causes my video output to go out of sync. When I put the clips in the timeline, video goes back in sync and I'm able to view video output.  My monitors are connected to a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt(9.7.5) via component and HDMI. Is this normal behavior in Premiere or is there a setting to enable this? No issues doing this in FCP7(clips from Project window to Canvas).
Can someone with an I/O from AJA, Matrox, or Blackmagic please test this out for me. Thanks...

    Hi Joe,
How do you have your audio setup? Try the following.
    - Set your OS system sound to Built-in or Line out audio
    - Select Blackmagic for both Video and Audio in Preferences> Playback
    - Select System Default Input/Output from Preferences> Audio Hardware

  • Teouble with audio becoming out of synce with video.

Hello, I'm using final cut to edit my videos but for some reason, FCP has been giving me some issues. In my work flow I often layout two long video track in the timeline, then I will chop up the top track to create transitions from the top to the bottom and vise versa. as soon I press play, it the video will start off in a slower speed almost as if the computer is overloaded, then it catches up to normal speed in about a second. This has really been driving my crazy. It also effects the way video syncronizes with audio. I can lay both video tracks on top of one another perfectly in sync with the audio, but as sometime once it get's to new scene or the video switches to another track the audio is no longer in sync with the video. sometimes I can stop the footage, then press space bar to copntine and the audio and video will be in sync. This is really weird and I was wondering if anyone has any answers for me. I'm pretty sure it's not an overload on the system because the projects are rather small, and I'm using a quad core 2.5, with 5 gig of ram. and this is my graphic card info

Yes. Those that are designed to work with A/V files will work better.
Drives from G-tech and Granite Digital are worth a very close look.
However, if you have an empty drive bay in your G5, a second internal SATA drive is the better choice.
    good luck.
