Change paper size before selecting print preview

I want to change Paper Size prior to selecting Print Preview. That is not possible in Firefox. Can Paper Size options be added to Page Setup and/or Print Preview? Please fix.

You might be able to set that thru your Printer Preferences, so look there from within Firefox first. {Ctrl + P} then hit the Properties button, on the Paper Tab you should be able to set the Paper Size.
If not, give this a try:
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
Pref Name = print.printer_your_printer_name.print_paper_height - 11.00
and print.printer_your_printer_name.print_paper_width - 8.50
Is that what you see? If you see those "Letter" measurements, try re-setting the main pref, and let Firefox reacquire the info from your OS.
in about:config
Preference name = print.print_printer
Right-Click and select Reset, then restart Firefox.

  • How can I select paper size while in print preview ?

I have a printer with four different paper trays, and each one is loaded with different size of paper: A3, A4, Legal, envelopes. When I use IE 11, I can easy go to print preview, click on page setup (little gear icon), select paper size , margins, etc.. there, and when i hit OK, the page is adjusted to the settings I selected and its ready to print, and printer selects the proper size of the paper automatically
In Firefox v32, I can almost do this same, but I'm stuck with printing only on A4 style paper, as I don't see where to select the paper I want to print on !
I tried to select A3 and legal paper in the printer driver, but then firefox used the selected paper, but printout on the paper came out as set to A4 size, and rest of the page was empty ! Also I was not able to see the page preview of the selected paper either. How do I then print on other size papers than a4 ?
I found only one workaround which does not suits my needs but works: First: Go to printer driver and select legal or A3 paper as default, and then open firefox. If I do that i can print on any paper I select, but thats a horrible workaround, because then I often forget to change the default paper size back inside the printer driver, and i print my documents on wrong paper, wasting paper, ink and time...
Please let me know if there is a way to fix this printing feature somehow.
    Thanks.

    MichalB,
Sorry, IMO there is no real "fix" for what you are experiencing. Printer prefs set or changed in the operating system won't affect Firefox printing ''[IMO, either ancient code in Firefox or a "cross-browser thing".]'' Firefox has its' own settings for prefs and it defaults to the "last used" for all printer preference setting. And there is no way to set a pref as "use now and return to my defaults after this print job is completed".
As you have found out, there is no way of changing paper size from the Print Preview screen. Other prefs - Margins & Header/Footer can be changed via Page Setup and you can see changes in the Preview window, but not for paper size. As ''CoryMH'' mentioned, '''paper size''' is selected thru what called the "native print dialog" box using the '''Properties''' button which shows a window provided by your printer software for the Printer which is selected in the "native print dialog" window, and accessed after you hit the Print button in the Print Preview screen.
Problem is that you can't '''"preview"''' what is going to be printed when you change paper size. If you go back to Print Preview without printing from the "native print dialog" the change for Paper Size isn't saved for viewing in Print Preview!
IMO, it would be nice if Firefox recognized each "tray" as a separate printer, so that a user could set Margins & Header/Footer prefs AND paper size per tray. IOW, a feature sort of writing a completely new print module that would reflect "today's" environment with multiple tray printers; rather than to continue using the print module that was built by Netscape back in '94 - '95, which we are stuck with almost 20 years later.

  • Since upgrading to LR 5.6 I can no longer change paper sizes for user print templates.

The print preview window shows the new size laid out properly but the printer feeds only the size which was used to create the preset resulting in clipping if a larger paper and cell size is invoked in page setup or xs white space if a smaller is invoked. OS X 10.8.5, Stylus pro 7890. REINSTALLED PRINTERS AND DRIVERS, DELETED AND REPLACED LR PREFERENCE FILE, Other aps print ok. I

While the problem is unsolved I have found a workaround. If I use the "Printer" button (lower far right) and print from the printer dialed pop up custom paper sizes chosen in the "page setup" are honored and the layout  prints as shown in the LR print preview). On the other hand, If I print using the "Print" button the printer feeds only the paper size chosen when creating the preset.

  • Lost ability to change paper size in Lexmark Printer Pro901

I have been using a Lexmark Pro901 printer. Up until now I would hit the "print setting"button and I could then select paper size, type of paper, etc.  I have now lost that ability.  Lexmark says it is a photoshop problem ( the printer works fine in other programs). I have updated all the drivers, etc in Photoshop CS5 ver. 12.0.4x64.  Any help would be appreciated.

OK, I seemed to have fixed the problem. Since I had to make some prints over the past few days, I sent my images from Lightroom to Photoshop CS4 for printing. In Photoshop, I saved my paper settings in the printer driver, selecting the proper paper type and ink level, etc.
Now that I went back to Lightroom, that saved setting shows up in the printer driver dialog (as it should) and I can now select the Paper Type/Quality for any print jobs in Lightroom! No more missing options in the printer dialog!
All this makes me wonder if there was a corrupt file related to the printer driver that Lightroom could not understand, which led it to miss out some options. Now that I saved a set of options in another program, the file is now parsed correctly???? Just a guess.

  • Can't change paper size in Print module

When I click on Page Setting in the Print module I get a pull-down menu that has options for Printer, Presets, Layout, Pages per Sheet, Layout Direction, Border, and Two Sides but there is no option available for changing paper size. This was not a problem before I updated to 1.2. How do I get that option back? Thanks.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest Driver for the Epson R1800.
It has been said that it is best, even if you have a ppc to download the latest IntelMac Driver to install for that printer, for best results.

  • Change paper size when printing

How to change paper size when printing pdf? No option for paper size appear.

That is a feature of AirPrint. If you do a Google search on "AirPrint paper size" you'll find documentation from major printer manufacturers. For example, this is copied from some HP documentation:
What paper and media sizes are supported?
With AirPrint, paper and photo media sizes are automatically selected depending on the application you are using on your Apple device, your HP ePrint printer, and the region in which you are using AirPrint. You do not have the option to select different paper sizes.
For example, from Apple’s Photo application, if the HP ePrint printer has a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses 4 x 6 inch photo media as the default paper size. If the printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses letter-size paper. If you are printing from Apple’s Safaribrowser, letter-size paper is the default paper size in the US region, and A4 is the default paper size in Europe.
AirPrint supports the following paper and media sizes:
    Letter
    Legal
    A4
    4 x 6 in photo paper
    A6 photo paper

  • How do I change the size of a print output of an email?

when I print out an email, even though the page layout says 8x10, it is printing in a 4x6 space

    File > Print Preview
or right click on email and select: Print Preview
allows you sort out how it looks.
Page Setup: allows you to sort out formating and margins and headers and footers.
Scale: Increase this to increase the font - so it actually prints a larger font and uses more space on the page.
Print > Properties allows you to choose the paper size settings.

  • Can't change paper size on Officejet x64

I am unable to change the paper size on this printer.  I need to use an 8.5 x 5.5 format to make a greeting card.  Actually, I am not seeing any other options for different sizes.  Using the HP Solution Center I get the message below.  Also, it does not recognize my other printer that I am using.  Thank you in advance for your prompt response and hopeful resolution to this issue.

Please to meet you , I may be able to help you with your printer software for your Officejet 5745. It looks like your Solution Centre is having some troubles, have you tried the Print and Scan Doctor yet? HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. I recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, if it doesn't fix it automatically let me know what errors or messages you receive. I recommend also Uninstalling the Printer Software. You may also want to Delete files using Disk Cleanup - make sure to put check marks in all of the selection boxes when available. Other places software drivers may hide would be in your Device Manager.  To Open the Device Manager:
    1) Click Start (Or Windows Icon) and enter 'Device Manager' into the Search field.
    2) Click on the Device Manager.
    3) You may want to click on View, at the top of the windows, and then Show hidden devices.
    4) Expand the device types, and check for any driver related to your printer.
    5) To remove a device from device manager, right-click the device name from the list and then click Uninstall. * For more information see Device Manager Information for Windows 8. Then download the newest version of your software here; HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers. If the issue continues, you may want to Contact HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number. You can view all other ways of contacting HP from their list of Support Options.  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • Excel 2010 bug -- cannot place controls on chart properly after changing paper size

I have encountered unexpected behavior in Excel 2010 when placing controls on a chart that is a separate sheet. The issue is that the controls (e.g. spinner, scroll bar, etc.) cannot be placed or moved to the right side or the bottom.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1) create a chart as a separate sheet
    2) change the paper size to, for example, A6 (4.13" x 5.83")
    3) change paper size back to Letter (8.5" x 11")
    4) controls cannot be placed on right side or bottom of chart.
It appears that instead of using the current dimensions of the chart paper size to determine where controls may be placed, the smallest dimensions that have ever been applied to the chart are used.
I am looking for a workaround for this issue since I would like to use a paper size large than 8.5" x 11", but I cannot place controls on such a chart properly at this time.
    Any ideas?

I have found a workaround for this issue:
    1) change paper size in your default printer's preferences to the paper size you want in Excel.
    2) afterwards insert or create the chart. It is automatically the correct paper size, and controls can be placed or moved properly.
    3) change default printer paper size back.
In case your chart has already been created, simply copy the existing chart in step 2 instead of inserting/creating.
    Aidan

  • HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format - Can't reset the paper size - won't print!!!

I have a new HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format All-in-one printer.  I love it and have had no problems with it...until now.  The other day I went into Photoshop and printed a 4x6 photo and now my printer will not allow me to print on 8.5X11.  I have checked the paper size in Photoshop, Word, Excel, Acrobat...everything I used that day, but it all shows "letter" size paper in the properties.  I also checked the printer utilities...letter size paper is selected.
But when I try to print, the printer and the computer both give me a "paper mismatch" error and my only option is to change the paper or cancel.  I went back into photoshop again and was able to print a 4x6 photo again - once I put in 4x6 paper - but then I changed it back to an 8.5X11 size photo sheet and tried to print on letter size paper and..."paper mismatch'.
I changed the printer back to factory settings.  Nothing.  I just had to reset up my printer on my network, but it still won't print.  I tried to re-install the printer software from the installation disk, but it won't install.  It says "already installed".
HELP!!!!!!  I honestly don't know what to do at this point!!!!!
    Thanks in advance!!

I have struggled with a similer problem with my new 7500A.  I've done all the things you did. I made sure I had all updates and the firm ware update. I spent time on the phone with a lady who meant well but clearly didn't know the product. I had a difficult time communicating with her. Her accent was in the way. This morning I realy didn't want to face another day of this struggle.  As I walked into my studio I had a idea. Instead of going to the computer to try to solve my problem through menues, HP Customer Service and or communities. I went dirrectly to the printer.  I turned the printer on, the little screen on the printer lit up I touched the arrow to go to the next screen of menus. I touched "Set Up"  then scrolled down through the choices. I picked "Preferences". At the bottom of the list was.............. Media Width/Type Sensing (ON)............I promptly turned it (OFF) ......................I am printing as I was told I would be able to do prior to buying. I am not getting that anoying screen  "Paper Mismatch" . The printer is printing now on my 12 x 12 stock regardless of the type. ie: cardstock, plain paper, colored paper, construction paper. I hope this helps some of you out there.  Clearly HP was of "NO" help to me. I have read that others are installing HP 7000 drivers etc.  I've solved the problem without going to those lengths, no thanks to HP.

  • Change paper size created by Quartz PDFContext

I bought a new printer and now I can't print my faxes. It doesn't matter if I use pagesender or the internal fax of OSX to receive. When opening the fax in Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Pro or preview, the size is 215,2 x 290,8mm and created by Mac OS X 10.6.4. Quartz PDFContext. All paper-settings in the preferences->printers-> are set to A4. The old printer ignored the paper-size, the new one displays that I have to feed a legal format paper. How can I change the legal format to the A4 size of the PDFs created by Quartz PDFContext?

You probably want to post this question in the Oracle Reports forum Products | Developer Suite | Reports. The folks over there may well have some ideas to help you.

  • I have finished my iBook but want to change the size before ordering. Is it possible

Finished book.  Can the size be changed before placing order?

Sure - what version of iPhoto? Ad is OS X 10.4.8 as you state correct?
Assuming it is not and you have iPhoto '11 then you simple select the book and duplicate it (Command D), open the copy and click on "change theme" and select the same theme and the new size -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
the preview is critical since with a new size text may reflow
