  • TS3276 email was hacked, can open email on yahoo (after changing passwords) but cannot open mail on my computer, cannot even access mail because it will not accept my user name or password and I am unable to reset my account

    email was hijacked and spam/virus link sent out to all of my contacts on wed at 4:21AM..... with the Subject as Rep: My Name or My email address and a link to a web page discussing making money working at home.  Could not get into any of my mail, on the web or on Mail on my mac.  After a phone call to automated support through Yahoo through ATT, I was given a temporary password and was able to reset my Yahoo password and get email on the internet.  I still cannot open my Mail Account on either my iMac or MacBook Pro.  I cannot get into Mail, period.  My sign in keeps popping up and it keeps telling me that my user name or password is incorrect.  I tried my old password, the temporary password and the new password.  Nothing is working,  I cannot receive or send anything in Mail.  Mail is Frozen.  If I want my email, I must go to the web and sign into Yahoo Mail.
    Help!

    When you were entering your new password in mac mail for your Yahoo account, you didn't perchance change the user name from [email protected] to just name without the @att.net? I only ask because I've done that, and att.yahoo mail requires a fully qualified [email protected] for access.
    In mail, you might click on window on the menu bar, then connection doctor. On the account with the red dot next to it, it will tell you why it can't connect, and if you click on it, you'll be taken to where you can fix it.

  • Changed password not accepted in Mail????

    I have recently changed both my Gmail and Hotmail passwords following the announcement that some account details had been posted online.
    Now, when starting Mail, I got the pop up window saying my password was not accepted (hotmail) and I duly entered the new password and my mails arrived fine.
    However the same cannot be said with Gmail, I have tried a zillion times to put in the new password but Mail still tells me that it is refused and won't download my messages.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Quit Mail if it's open.
    Open Keychain Access (Applications / Utilities).
    Select Passwords on the left.
    On the right delete the GMail and Hotmail names.
    Quit Keychain Access.
    Next time Mail asks for authorization, click "Always Allow".

  • How can I change the default new e-mail notification

    I see that I can chage the text tone but the other settings for New Voicemail, New Mail, Calendar alerts seems a little to basic with just on or off.  Is there a way to enable the ability to change these settings' tones as well?

    No. You can't change these at this time.

  • Unable to change password in new email under same ID name

    I would like to change passward but now i have new email how i can do? and still would like to be same ID log in name

    You didn't post a four digit version, so it is difficult to answer your question.
    Also as you didn't post the trigger code, you are asking me to look in my crystal ball.
    Fact:
    you are logging in as a non-sys user
    Fact:
    The after logon trigger code contains a bug, as it uses a collection which has not been initialized (this is in the error message you didn't try to understand)
    Result: the after logon trigger raises an exception and you can not login.
    Solution: fix the code.
    This is all quite obvious and you don't need the assistance of 'Gurus'.

  • "Catch 22": new e-mail and password on iCloud

    Hi,
    I'm in a "catch 22"-situation.
    Background:
    I am using iCloud on my mac, iPhone and iPad.
    I changed my e-mail address and my password for my iCloud account.
    I deleted the iCloud account on my iPhone and reentered the iCloud account with the new e-mail address and password without problems.
    Problem:
    I want to delete the iCloud account on my iPad as well, but I can't. In order to delete it, I have to type in the password to my previous iCloud account e-mail (which I changed to a new e-mail address). None of the passwords (neither the old one or the new one) works. I only have the option of using the old e-mail address as log on (the e-mail address field is grey and cannot be edited in the log-on pop-up window).
    I have tried to change the e-mail address and password back to the previous status before I made the change, but it doesn't matter. Neither passwords work and I am not able to do anything with the e-mail address in the log-on window.
    It seems that I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I probably should have deleted the iCloud account on my devices (iPhone and iPad) before I changed the e-mail and password for the iCloud account, but I didn't.... As I mentioned, it worked on the iPhone, but it does not work on the iPad.
    Is there anyone capable of helping me out of this "catch 22"? I would be very grateful.
    Thank you so much in advance.
    Kris

    Go to Settings>Store and sign out of existing account and into the other one.

  • Changing password logic - old password, new password, retype password

    I have a MainFrame class which has a Change Password button. The action for the button is:
              // Change password
              aListener = new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                       ChangeMyPassword cmp = new ChangeMyPassword(
                                     MainFrame.this);
                       cmp.dispose();
              changePasswordButton.addActionListener(aListener);When the user press the Change Password button, it pass control to the ChangeMyPassword class which as a submit button and a cancel button. When the user press the submit button, it should validate the old password (i.e. compare it to the password in the text file), validate the new password match the retype password:
              // submit button
              ActionListener aListener = new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        // Retrieve the password.
                        char[] pw = oldPasswordField.getPassword();
                        oldPassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        pw = newPasswordField.getPassword();
                        newPassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        pw = retypePasswordField.getPassword();
                        retypePassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        // Hide, but don't dispose of, this window ...
                        // we need to give the client code a chance to
                        // retrieve the user's typed response via
                        // the getPassword() method first.
                        ChangeMyPassword.this.setVisible(false);
              submitButton.addActionListener(aListener);I have a Student class which compare the old password with the password in the text file. The student class constructor takes the student id to identify which student text file it should call.
    The problem is that the ChangeMyPassword does not know about student id (because I am getting these from the text field in MainFrame class). So how can I call the validatePassword method in Student class?
         public boolean validatePassword(String pw) {
              if (pw == null) return false;
              if (pw.equals(password)) return true;
              else return false;
         }

    I dont understand why it does not update the text file with the new password.
    The submit button has the action in ChangeMyPassword class:
              // submit button
              ActionListener aListener = new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        // Retrieve the password.
                        char[] pw = oldPasswordField.getPassword();
                        oldPassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        pw = newPasswordField.getPassword();
                        newPassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        pw = retypePasswordField.getPassword();
                        retypePassword = new String(pw).trim();
                        Student theStudent = new Student(id);
                        if(theStudent.validatePassword(oldPassword)){
                            if(validateChangePassword()){
                                 // write the new password to file
                                 theStudent.setPassword(getNewPassword());
                                 // Let the user know that the
                                 // password succeeded.
                                 JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,
                                  "Password change successfully.",
                                  "Password Changed",
                                  JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
                            }else{
                                 JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,
                                            "You have used an invalid user name or password; please try again.",
                                            "Authentication failed",
                                            JOptionPane.WARNING_MESSAGE);
                       }else{
                            JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,
                                       "You have used an invalid user name or password; please try again.",
                                       "Authentication failed",
                                       JOptionPane.WARNING_MESSAGE);

                        // we need to give the client code a chance to
                        // retrieve the user's typed response via
                        // the getPassword() method first.
                        ChangeMyPassword.this.setVisible(false);
              submitButton.addActionListener(aListener);Validate password method in Student class:
         public boolean validatePassword(String pw) {
              if (pw == null) return false;
              if (pw.equals(password)) return true;
              else return false;
         }Validate change password method in ChangeMyPassword class:
         public boolean validateChangePassword(){
              if(newPassword.equals(retypePassword))return true;
              else return false;
         }When the user press the Change Password button the action performed in the MainFrame class is:
              // Change password
              aListener = new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        String id = ssnField.getText();
                       ChangeMyPassword cmp = new ChangeMyPassword(MainFrame.this, id);
                       boolean success = currentUser.persist();
                       cmp.dispose();
              changePasswordButton.addActionListener(aListener);Now remember that I set the password that should be written in ChangeMyPassword class as you can see above. Now that I called the persist method, it should write all the details back to the text. For some reason it not doing that and I dont understand why.
    The persist method:
         public boolean persist() {
              FileOutputStream fos = null;
              PrintWriter pw = null;
              try {
                   // Attempt to create the ssn.dat file.  Note that
                   // it will overwrite one if it already exists.
                   fos = new FileOutputStream("C://Files//" + getSsn() + ".dat");
                   pw = new PrintWriter(fos);
                   // First, we output the header record as a tab-delimited
                   // record.
                   pw.println(getSsn() + "\t" + getName() + "\t" +
                           getMajor() + "\t" + getDegree() + "\t" + getPassword());
                   // Then, we output one record for every Section that
                   // the Student is enrolled in.
                   for (int i = 0; i < attends.size(); i++) {
                        Section s = (Section) attends.elementAt(i);
                        pw.println(s.getFullSectionNo());
                   pw.close();
                   fos.close(); //? needed?
              catch (IOException e) {
                   // Signal that an error has occurred.
                   return false;
              // All is well!
              return true;
         }

  • How do you change your password in the new BT Mail

    I have 3 email addresses (master and two sub accounts) which I like to change the passwords on from time to time. From within BT Mail I am unable to find an option to change the password. There is a link to Manage your emails which takes you to My BT. When I enter My BT and enter the Manage BT mail I am presented with a list of my emails. One of them shows an option to change password, the other two have option to add to BT ID. I tried adding these to BT ID but get an error message telling me that this can't be done. I then contacted BT support, big mistake, after the support tech took over my machine and subsequently began changing passwords on accounts I lost access to my emal and My BT. I have now got access to all areas again but the passwords on the two sub accounts are the passwords that the tech put in there, hardly secure? Anybody know how to change the passwords if sub accounts are not linked to your BT ID?

    It appears flytothemoon found a work around for part of this problem below. I have to say this is another large oversight for BT and their email providing partners. Did anyone actually test the new system before it was rolled out?

    Sounds like your issue is between gmail and charter. Thunderbird would have no part in this operation.

  • HT1146 I have a NEW e-mail provider. I must CHANGE this on my Apple & iTunes account - need HELP !

    I haved moved after 38 years in the same place.
    I have changed e-mail addresses and cannot seem to get Apple to leave my OLD address alone. In trying to fix this, I have changed my password several times, and am now having a really bad time even getting into my iTunes account etc.  Need some help here.
    Thanks, Brian

    I'm assuming OS X here based on the choice of forum, and not iOS based on the footer.
    Please do not repeatedly change passwords or repeatedly fail passwords logins, or you'll risk triggering the evasion processing.
    I'd expect Apple to send a confirming email message to the old email address when you manage your AppleID data over to the new email address, but the selection should otherwise remain.  The mail message sent to the old address is intended to notify the user, should the account have been highjacked.
    The email address is not tied to the AppleID password.  Other than you'll need the password to log in and change the saved email address.
    You'll have various prompts for passwords around Safari and iTunes that might remember the old OS X settings via your local Keychain, and you'll be changing those as you log in.  (That's your local system applying defaults, and not anything at Apple.)  You can either change those as you log in, or you can open Keychain Access and (carefully!) find and remove the old entries.  (I'd strongly encourage making a backup of your keychain or of your system before deleting old Keychain entries.)
    If something else is going on and you've verified the email settings are correct on your account, then you'll probably want to contact the folks at Apple directly.

  • TS5223 Updated to iOS8. I don't remember the password for my old Apple ID or the password for that e-mail. I can't delete the iCloud account without knowing it, although my iTunes and everything else is set to the new Apple ID and password. Help?!

    I keep getting pop-ups telling me to sign in to my iCloud and it's very annoying. I have no idea what the old password was, and I don't really have a way of changing the old password because I also don't know my password for the e-mail address connected to it (it kept telling me that the answers to my security questions were wrong, but I'm not sure what other answers they would have been). Therefore, I created an entirely new e-mail and a new Apple ID and everything else is set to that ID... except iCloud. Is there any way to correct this, or am I out of luck?

    If your device is signed into an old iCloud ID, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID*, do the following:
    Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
    Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).
    * If that's not the case, you'll have to contact the Apple account security team and ask for assistance resetting the password for the old ID: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.  You'll have to be able to prove your identity to them before they will do this.

  • HT4436 I need to change my Apple ID ON MY I-Phone to a new E-Mail address. what do I do??

    I need to Change my Apple ID on my I-Phone 4 to a new E-Mail Address, What can I do to Change it.

    If you have done so already, you first need to change it with Apple at the website my Apple ID.
    (Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • I have changed the user-id e-mail address. Bought a new MacBookPro, updated my Appleid and some purchased apps do not appear.

    I have changed my AppleId's e-mail address and thus the Appleid user name. I bought a new MacBookPro and updated my Appleid info. The problem is that it does not list all the Apps bought. I have only one iphone connected to it. My daughter has an ipad and had purchased a lot of apps using the old user-id. She had the ipad linked to another computer. However, the ipad does not switch on and from Apple Support they told me that it would be better if I restore it using a Mac. So my question is: if I restore it using the Mac, how would all these apps be synced since they do not appear on my iTunes on the Mac? Shouldn't all the apps appear since I have bought them?
    I would appreciate a reply.
    Kind Regards,
    Dimitra

    I have the same issue. The new address is fine when I use iTunes and on my iCloud account, but my iPhone has my old e-mail address and when I try to change it won't accept my new or old password to be able to do so.

  • Changed password -now can't get mail

    I recently changed my email password through the online control panel of my ISP. I can receive mail through their main site via my browser. But suddenly Apple Mail is unable to retrieve mail, although I have already changed the password in prefs and was able to retrieve mail for a few days after changing the password via the ISP. I read the post that suggested retrieving mail via the pulldown menu, but that hasn't worked.
    The odd thing is that Apple mail was able to retrieve mail for a 2 days BEFORE I changed to the new password in prefs. Not sure how that worked. But it did retrieve mail AFTER I updated the password prefs-until now. I hope this is clear.

    Try launching the Keychain Access utility, locating your e-mail password, and deleting it.
