Change Password via telnet session

Hi,
I would like to know how to change the tacacs enable password via telnet session.
When a new user login the first time via telnet, tacacs prompts the user with changing login password. However, it never prompts to change the enable password. Please advice.

I am not clear what your problem is. TACACS uses a single password for a user and does not distinguish an enable password which is different from the login password. TACACS will grant access to enable based on what is set up in the user profile (or group profile) not on having a separate password. The difference between a login password and the enable password is used by the router locally when the router is not able to communicate with the TACACS server.
So when TACACS prompts a new user to change the initial setup password, that is all that TACACS needs to do.

  • Change password via 3-Tier Desktop Intelligence

    Hi everyone,
    It would be highly appreciated if you could tell me how to change password via 3-Tier Desktop Intelligence.
    Version: XI3.0, XI3.1
    Thanks a lot!
    Lisa

    No problem.
    And for a work around you can have users
    login directly to the CMS (2-tier)
    change password
    then close deski
    as long as they know the difference they can then login to deski 3-tier with their new password.
    Another option would be to
    lookup the user account in CMC
    in user properties check the box "must change password at next login"
    Then even 3-tier users will be prompted to change their password the next time they login

  • Error Changing Password via API on x64

    Hello,
    I'm writing an application for our admin guys but I am stmbling on one hurdle.
    On 32/64 OS everything works such as enable/disable user, updating records and such
    However on 64OS changing password fails
    I have attempted 2 seperate ways one
    ent = NWDIR1.FindEntry("NDS:\\BCR\BCR\" & txtOU.Text & "\" & txtUsername.Text)
    ent.SetPassword(txtPassword.Text)
    ent.Update()
    This results in error 0x333 819 Invalid network connection
    And also
    NWDIRAuth1.FullName = "NDS:\\BCR\BCR\" & txtOU.Text & "\" & txtUsername.Text
    NWDIRAuth1.ChangePassword(txtPassword.Text)
    This results in API error 0x80048801
    Both 64 bit systems are logged in as admin
    Any ideas?

  • Changing password via service dswp_create_msg?  Is it possible?

    Hi experts,
    Our Key Users are using service dswp_create_msg to create Service Desk messages.  We don't want to give them any other point of access to the system.  Only this one.
    However, when accessing this service, users cannot change their password.  They are prompt with a screen that asks their user id and password, but they cannot change it.
    Other services such as AGS_WORKCENTER provide by default this functionality... could we also add it to dswp_create_msg some how?
    Or can anyone suggest a workaround?
    Many thanks,
    Brodo

    Hi,
    Go to transaction SICF.
    Browse to the BSP you are using:
    Default_host -> sap -> bc -> sap -> dswp_create _msg.
    Double click onb the BSP dswp_create_msg.
    Go to edit mode.
    Go to tab Error Pages
    Select System Logon en click on button Configuration.
    Select Define Service-Specific Settings.
    Under view Select Display, at least select Logon ans System information.
    Save your entries.
    Open the BSP in your browser again.

  • Users unable to change password via system pref's 10.4.10

    I am running 1 OD Master and 3 OD Replica's, all servers running 10.4.10, clients running 10.2.8, 10.39 and 10.4.10. All network users can log in with no problems at all, however if a user needs to change their password in System Preferences in 10.4.10, they are unable to do so. The old password field keeps saying "incorrect password" though the password is indeed correct. I have no problems changing any users password on the 10.2.8 and 10.3.9 machines using System Preferences. Any ideas??

    I'm working through a problem right now where my users were having problems changing their passwords. I'm using network user accounts. I had a password policy configured on the server where users were allowed to change their passwords, and the password had to be changed every 90 days.
    Well, the time came when it was time to change the passwords and users were prompted to do so and did. However, afterwards they started receiving Kerberos password prompts, and it wouldn't take their new password. Restarting didn't help either. If I reset the password on the server, the user could login and things would be fine until they tried to change the password in Sys Prefs : Accounts and the problem would repeat itself.
    So far, the solution seems to be disabling the password policies in the Open Directory service in Server Admin. I'm going back on-site tomorrow to see what I can find out. You might want to give that a shot.

    I am at my wits end.  The migration assistant created a new profile (I didnt konw that it would do this) and now I can't get into that profile with all the stuff from my old PC.
    I have tried changing password via the main account, but to no avail.  I have researched issues with Keychain, but all it tells me to do is change the login password - that doesnt work either - I cant get to all my files.

    Migraine Assistant it's called.
    Delete the account from the main one, create a new account and transfer files manually via a regular FAT external drive you pickup at any office or computer store, Mac's can read it.

  • Changing an Admin's account password via ARD

    Greetings!
    I came across this posting on changing a user accounts password via ARD:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2130579&#2130579
    I tried Vespazzo Unix command in this thread:
    passwd (name of user)
    (new password)
    (new password)
    as root, but in the "Send Unix Command" history window that pops up, next to each computer name under the "Status" column, all I see is a green check symbol with the words, "Changing Password for (account name)", and that's it. It won't go any further then that. Almost like it's hung on something. And I'm not seeing any progress bar indicating something is happening or is about to happen?!?
    Am I missing something?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    MM
    G5/2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Not sure what's going on with this, but I let ARD sit for about an hour or so, until I finally decided that this wasn't doing anything. I restarted my Mac and logged back in. Opened ARD and controlled into one of our design workstations as the admin, the password we usually use, didn't work! The new one did! I tried a couple of others and those worked too with the new password! So who knows what the problem with ARD was.
    As long as the command worked, it's fine by me!
    Thanks anyway...

  • Disable password for privileged Exec mode via Telnet

    I've looked around for an answer for this specific issue but haven't been able to find one yet.  Hoping this is easy and someone can point me in the right direction.
    When logging into a 2950 switch via Telnet, I'm prompted for a password when attempting to "enable" privileged mode.  I want to disable the password requirement for now (home lab, not production).  When I initiate the "no enable password" or "no enable secret" command (via a console connection), and try to initiate the enable command, I receive the message "% No password set".  If I now attempt to enable privileged mode from the console, I'm not asked for a password.  How can I disable the password prompt for VTY mode?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the suggestion;  I've tried it but am still asked for a password.
    From global config, I entered:
    line vty 0 15
    privilege level 15
    exit
    Am I missing any steps there?
    Thanks!

  • Changing OD Password via Command Line

    How can i change the OD password via the command line? passwd doesn't do it because the password is still marked as "User must change password on next login"
    I have a Mac OS X server (10.4.6) set up for Mobile users for mac os x clients (10.4.2-6) and I'm also setting up for a PDC for out windows computers. Right now the only hold up is if the password is expired in OD, windows is unable to change the password. So I'm going to custom edit my smb.conf with the proper settings since Mac OS X doesn't seam to do it.

    anyone?
    basicly i need to know if there is a command line program to changet users OD passwords and mark the password has been changed in OD.
    is this posable? and whats the command?

  • Determine if it is a telnet session via ABAP

    Is there a way in ABAP to determine if the user is logged in through a telnet session?
    I want to ignore a command to run an ALV GRID if the user is logged in througha telnet session because the ALV GRID causes an error for telnet.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Instead of determining if the user is coming in via telnet, lets determine if the SAPgui is present, and if it is, then only show the ALV. You can use this function module .
    DATA: lv_result TYPE c.
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_IS_AVAILABLE'
      IMPORTING
        return = lv_result.
    IF lv_result = 'X'.
    * Gui is present!!!
    ENDIF.

  • 2012 R2 RD Session Host Domain Users Cannot Change Password

    I set up a Windows 2012 R2 Session Host as per
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839 and joined it to the domain.  Now, users are unable to change their password. When they log in to the RDSH and "ctrl-del-end", they are given the change password dialog, but they are told that
    their password "doesn't meet complexity requirements" even if it does.  I suspect the issue is related to the fact that there is no "session collection" per se and that the "connection broker" role is not installed.
    Is there any way around this?  The end game would be to have them log into this RDSH and be able to change their password to conform with the domain password policy
    PaulK

    Hi Paulk,
    Did you mean that all users cannot change passwords? Based on my experience, this issue was not related ro the RD connection broker role.
    Please check the password policy in group policy of the domain to see if any password policy caused this issue:
    Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Account Policies\Password Policy
    For more information, you can refer to the link below:

  • Users Cannot Change Passwords on a Server 2012 R2 RDS Farm

    Hello I have a Server 2012 R2 RDS Farm consisting of 1 server that has connection broker and gateway configured and 4 RDS Session Hosts. The works great I even have a separate remote app farm to distribute the apps to the servers, my main issue is passwords
    and the lack of the EU ability to change these, listed below are my symptoms.
    Users password has expired denied logon instantly with no ability to change password.
    User tries to change password whilst in 30 day warning period using ctrl alt end the user is advised the password does not meet complexity requirements I have checked this and they do meet them.
    Expired passwords can be changed via the RDWeb site however this is not an option for us.
    Chris

    Hi,
    Firstly, based on my knowledge, remote users may have to change their passwords before expired. If not, they have to use OWA or logon on locally to change their passwords.
    Regarding the issue, please let us know if the following policies are enabled in your domain.
    Enforce password history
    Minimum password age
    Also, does a local domain user have the same issue?
    Thanks.

  • Windows 2008 Terminal Server "user must change password at next logon" problem with Windows 7 client.

    Hi,
    I have a fully patched Windows 2008 SP2 Terminal Server and a fully patched Windows 7 client.
    I have logged into the Windows 2008 SP2 Terminal Server server with a test account via RDC before.
    When I try to log in via RDC to the 2008 TS with a test account which has been marked with the setting "User must change password at next logon" I get the RDC message "You must change your password before logging on the first time.  For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support."  I need to force the user to change their password once it has been issued, any ideas on how this can be done?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    This does not resolve my issue all the way. I'm having the same problem; When i'm "deploying" users, i always want the users to set their own passwords. Ok, so I then set the auth mode to "RDP Security layer". It seemed to work fine, and it does for that
    special purpose.
    Just like Daniel, my clients are connecting to our terminal server from several/different "customer-domains" So, they can't logon locally(on their local computer) and change their password, it has to be done THROUGH the terminal server.
    But if I turn on RDP Security Layer, users can't use remoteapp through tsgw they only get: "Your Remote Desktop Connection Failed because the remote computer cannot be authenticated" Any ideas?
    Also, our terminal servers is round robin based in a farm. So users connect to: tsfarm.domain.com(yes, public a-record which resolves to two internal adresses) This is because, we're using a wilcard *.domain.com as SSL certificate.
    But, when i'm using this, our clients sometimes get double auth when they login. I only get the double auth when tsfarm.domain.com resolves to server A, but the session broker wants the user to be on server B.(load balancing)
    This does not occur when SSL is enforced, any ideas?

  • J2EE Connector JCA 1.5 and JMS to behave like a telnet session

    Hi, I'm trying to develop an application that sends messages to cellular (SMS) through a gateway that works with a proprietary protocol.
    A sample telnet session for sending messages works this way:
    Me:
    telnet server 8000
    login:****
    password:****
    [I write some commands for setting up the way I am working, the connection use a proprietary protocol]
    SendMode
    Report=true
    Server:
    OK
    Me: [now I send a new message]
    Send
    Dest=391241241
    Body=Hello Everybody
    Server:
    MsgID=1254515 [a unique ID assigned by the server]
    OK
    Me: [send some other messages]
    Send
    Dest=28709217
    Body=bla foo bar
    Server:
    MsgID=3097519
    OK
    [Now I stay logged in and when the status of a message changes the server notifies me with a message preceeded by"!"]
    Server:
    !StatusInd
    !MsgID=1254515
    !Status=in queue
    ![other informations about the message]
    !OK
    Me:
    Logout
    And the connection finishes.
    I thought about resolving the problem with JMS because it was studied to resolve asynchronous message delivery, which is what I'm trying to achieve.
    I think one solution could be the following:
    1- my customer decides to send some SMS messages he wants to send through the interface I developed
    2- a new JMS Message is created
    3- a MDB wake up and performs the initial steps to connect throught native calls
    4- new MDB wake up and, using the connection, send created SMS
    5- another process use the connection to read the StatusInd and create a new JMS Message to describe the message status and registers it in a database
    The main question is: how can I implement the "native calls"? Is there a way with the new Connectors 1.5?
    But aboveall, does this API helps me creating an asynchronous message listener for StatusInd?
    Another implementation doubt is that I must send a lot of SMS (around 4000 SMS in one action), so, in pass 4, should I create 4000 MDB instances? It should be a clean implementation, maybe this way I could use also correlation id/replyto headers in passage 5, but would it waste many resources?
    Thank everybody, J2EE it's a huge infrastructure and I'd like to know if I'm moving the right way!:)
    Andrea

    Hi. It is possible to package native code along with a RAR. Further, in J2EE 1.4, it is possible to write MDBs that implement arbitrary message listener types, return values, throw exceptions, etc.
