Change Picture In Offline Mode

Hi All,
I've found that in Word 2013 Change Picture insists on having Internet access. And it's a pain, there are many reasons why we do not want Word charging off to the Internet at the merest hint of a request.
To test, try creating a document and populating it with a jpeg (or similar) from a local source.
Use Change Picture and see the result. You have to dive down to the Work Offline to get a local image.
Then try Unchecking the "Allow Office to connect to the Internet", under Options -> Trust Center -> Trust center Settings -> Privacy Options.
Repeat, this time you get a pop up saying this feature needs the Internet.
Now, MS and others may think that the Internet and Cloud is the be all and end all, but why forcing a feature such as Change Picture needs the Internet is beyond me.
Has anyone found a way to make this behave a bit more rationally?

Note: there is no "Work offline" option in Office 2013. Maybe there was once, but has been removed?

Picture button is used for online pictures, and it needs an internet connection.
I think you're correct in that someone in Microsoft thinks this is the right way to go. I think that preventing the rest of us from working offline permanently is absolutely the wrong decision by Microsoft R&D. For someone writing and updating business
specifications, updating and inserting screenshots from the web is almost never desirable.

Can't change the offline mode in my E65

Please, I have tried all the suggestions/solution but it's stil not working and now am so frustrated dnt know what to do. There was a time when I slot in the sim card in my phone and it wil show 'continue in offline mode, yes or no' but now when I slot in the sim card it wil just show 'offline'. Normally, this is a hardware issue: Either the SIM is not alligned correctly or one of the six SIM contacts of the Nokia are broken. To rule out any configuration and software issue, you go through the Nokia Software Recovery Tool on a Windows computer. Then, you know for sure, it is a hardware issue.

Every time I open Firefox it is in the offline mode. I have to uncheck it to open. How do I change this.

Ever time Firefox open the offline mode in file heading is checked. I have to uncheck and refresh before it will open. How can I make it permanently unchecked. Thanks for any help.

Device limit problem in offline mode

Hello all :) I've got a problem with Offline Mode since few weeks. I saw that when the phone is rebooted with Offline mode activated, spotify had disconnected the session.
So OK click on "Connection" and he asks for turn off the Offline mode. So OK again, but after no music could be read ! Files are always here cause of XXX GO used but no read possible..
After three tries of reboot and synchronisation of one playlist, it says "you have reached the limit of 3 devices". Into my account i saw 3 times "Android phone" at the same date ! I'm not enough rich to have 3 Android phones :p This bug is happened when i have tried to Sync a third device (other computer). I have deleted all devices into account but it still annoying me. I have deleted files on Android in Application parameters, reboot, try to create an username instead of facebook connection.. I deleted Spotify application on my Android Phone but always nothing changed. I know Application Developpment is not so easy, but if I paid Spotify it's for have no pub and for Offline mode.. So please, I need your help :) No music is not possible, i've began to sing in my shower because there too much silence.. I assure it's so bad for my neighbourhood ;) Thanks you in advance,

Hope, this afternoon when i reboot my Phone.. and crash ! lol
This times got pictures of what i did exactly ! Sorry it's in French ;) Step 1 : After a reboot, i open Spotify and obtain this, I had never seen this before last week ! Usual it connects me at phone's start.. (Android widget of Spotify didn't work too after reboot, i need to open the application directly) Step 2 : i click on "Connection" and he asks me for the desactivation of the Offline Mode => this message appears twice. I need to quit Spotify and restart it to connect successfully. Step 3 : when i look in my "Playlists", the "Dub.Inc" one is not synced whereas before the reboot it was ! And proof in step 4.. Step 4 : when i look in "Parameters" of applications, i see this.. So i do not understand lol :p My playlist is here, in Exceptionnal quality. So as this bug was crazy, i tested on my ipod touch 4 with another version of Spotify. I synced it at the same moment as the Android. You see that after the reboot, playlist is always here ! It's not my account but other thing.. I've got a 64 GO memory card µSD maybe due to that ?! Card is here since one year and no problem detected on it. If someone can help, you'll welcome :)

Offline Moda - N80

Hi there! First time on here!
I was uploading pictures from my phone to my PC today. Afterwards i noticed that the phone was still on the offline mode after i had disconnected it. I tired the usual turning it on and off etc. I've also tried using the manual and changing the mode and profiles like they mention. However, still no working phone! Anyone have any tips for me? Thanks for any help, greatly apprecaited!

Get error message "firefox is in offline mode, uncheck the work offline menu and try again " when trying to open firefox after downloading latest version of firefox

after downloading the latest version of firefox, when trying to open it I recieved the message, "Firefox is in offline mode. cannot browse web. Uncheck the work offline menu and try again". Have tried several times to open with same results. Have even uninstalled firefox and reinstalled latest version and still get meassage after trying to open.

thank you - that does make sense except i have another computer that connects to the internet in the same way but it doesnt happen on that one. i didnt change anything - it just started a couple of weeks ago after i updated firefox to 11.0. cant find any settings in firefox to alter either - thanks for the help

Set SPN for a local SQL Server 2008 R2 Express database used for local "Offline Mode" application

Hi - I have tried searching the web for tips on this situation. Basically, I am trying to recreate a previous employee's client Image. This image is used for one of our companies client application that features and "Offline Mode" where it connects
(Using Kerberos) to the local DB instead of the central DB server.
The custom image connects without issue. I cannot seem to recreate his configuration. I am sure of these things:
- Both images are using the same SQL Server 2008 R2 Express version.
- Both images have the same user accounts setup.
- Both images have "Remote Connections" setup with TCP/IP enabled in the Configuration Manager.
- Both images are joined to the same Domain server currently.
- Both images has the SQLServer service set to use "NETWORK SERVICE" account.
This is the error message I get when SQL starts up for the non-working image:
The SQL Network Interface library could not register the Service Principal Name (SPN) for the SQL Server service. Error: 0x54b, state: 3. Failure to register an SPN may
cause integrated authentication to fall back to NTLM instead of Kerberos. This is an informational message. Further action is only required if Kerberos authentication is required by authentication policies.

Could you please change the SQL Server Service to run under 'LocalSystem' account and restart SQL Server? Then check if the error still occurs. When the SQL Server service account is configured to use the LocalSystem account, the server will automatically
publish the SPN.
Alternatively, to work around this issue, you can manually create the SPN for the SQL Server Service account using the SETSPN tool. For more details, please review this

Widgets in offline mode?

Hello..
Shouldn't the "widget in offline-mode"-setting overrule the settings for each widget?
If I set my RSS/mail to sync every 2 hours, and set the "widget in offline-mode"-setting on, both RSS and mail sync during the online time - which it shouldn't as I understand?
How do I change this?

The point being, that setting widgets to offline mode, does just that, but you can set mail to sync without using the mail widget, so the app itself is running independently. I tend to update evrything manually and leave my phone on charge over night !

Offline mode problem nokia N73

Hello, I have a problem with my Nokia N73, after having passed in Offline mode, it is impossible to change it. I carried out a hard reset by *#7370#, the phone posts general mode, but when i wants to connect to the network it posts phone in Offilne mode. I have try an firmware update using PC suite, but thephone must be in general mode before this operation can be carried out. what can i proceed. right now it is impossible to use my phone.

Yes, I am probably mad still giving this phone a go, but I Like the phone, so I keep giving it another go! (plus the fact that I cant find any other phone on the market right now that I really like)
My network operator has been great, and has always replaced it for me every time I have had problems, but I must say it is now getting a bit too much.
The last one I had, I got 2 weeks ago, and was a brand new one with the latest s/w update.
First time I put it into OFFLINE mode, it refused to change back to normal. (this was a new problem I did not have with the first 5 handsets so I have a feeling its a problem with the latest s/w)
a week ago I had it replaced once again with a brand new one.
Went away, and put it into OFFLINE mode again while on the plane, and guess what? it refused to change again.
Nothing helps; I have tried taking the battery out, taking the sim card in and out, nothing!!!!
Now they want to give me an N93, but it seems way to large to me, plus it probably has the same problem, using the same operation system.

Can't turn off offline mode

Hello i got this problem with my nokia 5230.I insert my main sim card and it doesn't show no zone it's in offline mode.And i can't change another mode it just shows no sim card inserted....
I put another sim card in it works just fine and asks to run or not to run offlien mode at start.
So do you have any suggestion on my problem?That number is really important for me

If you have a locked phone, and the sim isn't from your airtime provider it won't work, you should be able to get your number ported to the sim that works, or if it is from your current airtime provider, ask for a replacement !

Nokia N8 locks when selecting offline mode

Any other N8 users experiencing similar functionality/problems?
I'm fairly certain that when I first got my phone, when selecting the Offline mode - which I do at night to save power - it just went into and out of it no problems.
I have since set up the remote locking feature and was asked to change my lock code from the default 12345 for obvious reasons. However now when I enter the Offline mode the phone auto-locks. Not a major issue as I just unlock it with my code, just more of an annoyance really.
I have made sure the setting to lock the phone when sim removed is off, to no avail. Any ideas?

Same here, and can confirm it does this when remote locking is enabled.
I would imagine it does this as going into offline mode is the same as taking the SIM out
and the phone thinks the SIM is being changed, so it is a security precautionI beleive.

Error : Offline Mode is SET to "True"

I have clustered enviroment . I ran the Package by executing Dtsx File and it got the error "product level is insufficient..." then i found that i need to install remaing SSIS Component. After Instaling those Component . while i was running the package again it is giving the Error "Package Failed becasue Offline Mode is set to True. When i Check in Design it was False. So Why Suddenly it is Throwing that Error.

      There is another option to set the work offline mode with out opening the project itself. I think in your case it is better to set this property prior to open the project, why because after changing in the solution still you find some errors related to work offline. So I think it is better to follow the steps in the given link to set work offline mode without opening the project.

BPC 10.0 NW Offline mode

Hi Experts,
When trying to take a report in offline mode, do you need to enter a password even if you have not protected your sheet? I have developed a report that has some grouping and after taking that report in offline mode and trying to expand the grouping, I get a message saying to go to Review Tab --> Unprotect Sheet and enter password. I entered PASSWORD and it works fine. Is it the only way?

When you take a report offline, the report is automatically protected by design. This is to prevent the users from making changes to the content of the report - either intentionally or unintentionally.

Using both power saving mode and offline mode caus...

So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.
Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.
I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)
I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.
Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode.
This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode. So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)
If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!

PS. I also have the problem where using HSPA+ causes my phone to drop from the network and stop being able to receive/make phone calls. But disabling HSPA+ works around this for now, I think this problem is unrelated however.

I have a similar problem. My 808 PureView loses 70% of its charge overnight if I leave it in normal profile without power-saving. To deal with this issue, I started using the situations app to put the phone in power saving mode overnight. That solved the problem (although I never put my phone to offline mode). This is a weird problem because throughout the day my phone doesn't use 70% of charge, but it does overnight while doing nothing!
I have also experienced the second problem, losing cellular and internet connection, on my 808. I have started a thread to deal with this issue.

I believe it is a firmware bug that causes this problem.

Why does my firefox switch to offline mode by itself, while i was browsing the internet?? is my computer hacked?

This has happened many times, with no apparent reason, i.e. when i tried to refresh a web page, or open a website, i got message to say that firefox was in offline mode (note, the internet had been working normal up to this minute), then i went to the File menu and I'd find that the "Work Offline" option had been ticked (but i did Not change any settings at all)
Btw, i am using Mac OS, and all the software are up to date.

Not hacked or such but if your connection should drop it could trigger Firefox to go offline.
For Firefox 3.5.* and 3.6.* users add this preference. Not needed if using Firefox 4.0.* as it is there and set to false by default.
