  • Changing query problem

    Hi,
When I am trying to change the Query (Global definition) then it's showing an error "A Dependent object is being locked by Transport System”. Whereas there is no entry found as Object locked in the list by transaction RS12 or SM12.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem. It's very urgent.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek,
check in the transport connection (rsa1) for the BEx Transportrequest. One way of checking which objects are locked is simply recollecting a Transport request for the Query. When you found the object that is locked, then go to se03 and unlock the object.
Or alternatively you could release the Transport as a special transport that is not imported anywhere to unlock all objects in the Bex TRansport request. That depends a bit on how you guys handle BEx Transports in general.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

  • Change in global structure in one query

    Hi,
    1. I have some five queries already developed. Here in all the five queries i am using one global structure. I have a requirement tp change the global structure, Now after i change the global structure in one query1 do i need to transport only that query1 or i have to transport all the five queries for the change to get reflected.
    2. There are five workbooks also developed for the corresponding queires.  After changing the queries do i need to update the output result in all the workbooks as well?
Here in the global structure the keyfigures are replaced with new keyfigures?
Little confused , need help? Please answer my two questions

If you changed the global structure then transport the structure not the query.
Go to transport connection in RSA1 choose Query elements -
    >Structures.
    Select your structure and transport.
That should do.As long as you use "Restore to initial query" in the dataprovider properties of the workbook it should reflect your changes else you need to change at workbook level too.
    Hope this helps.

  • Convert BeX query Global structure to local structure

    Hi Experts,
How to convert a BeX query Global structure to local structure?  Can anyone give the Steps involved.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Namrata.

    Hi Sanchana,
BeX query Global structure to local StructureSteps:
In a local structure when you want to add structure elements that are unique to the specific query. Changing the global structure changes the structure for all the queries that use the global structure. That is the reason you go for a local structure.
Coming to the navigation part->In the BEx Analyzer-> from the SAP Business Explorer toolbar---> choose the open query icon (icon that looks like a folder) ->On the SAP BEx Open dialog box->Choose Queries--->Select the desired InfoCube --->Choose New.
In the Define the query screen->In the left frame-> expand the Structure node.
Drag and drop the desired structure into either the Rows or Columns frame->Select the global structure->Right-click and choose Remove reference.A local structure is created.
Remember that you cannot revert back the changes made to global structure in this regard. You will have to delete the local structure and then drag n drop global structure into query definition. When you try to save a global structure, a dialogue box prompts you to confirm changes to all queries.
    Hope this info helps..
    Cheers,
    Tanish

  • Workbook with changed query does not display the changes...

    Hi,
I have a problem with a workbook with one query in - the query has been changed, but the new added keyfigures are not displayed in the existing WB.
I know from Bex 3.5 there is the option on WB settings "return to global definitions" - I miss this functionality in BI 7.0.
My installed sap gui is version 710
Please let me know where I can switch on this feature...
    regards
    chris

If you use "Return to Global Definition on refresh" option, all the users would have to have it turned on in their workbooks. In that case won't they lose any settings/navigation the user did, specific to their need. All the workbooks end up being the same in that case.
We are still running on 30B and starting the upgrade to BI70. We just went through training on the new BEx analyzer, and I have to agree with you that some of the useful features of BEx 3X will be missed. Specially in the area of Workbook support, things like Copy query, insert query etc are missing as well.
    Thanks

  • Problems in creation of workbook using Change query local view.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Multiprovider by using union of two infocubes and created a Query based on Multiprovider.  I want to restrict one infocube in Change Query local view for creating new workbooks.  In Query global view we drag and drop the Infocube under Filters, but in the Query local view Filter panel is in disable mode. (My requirement is to create the workbooks using change query local view only)
How can I restrict the one Infocube values in the workbooks by using Change query local view?
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat Prasad
As you told that the query is on multi provider and the view is not allowing to declare/define filter value
Just drag the infoprovider info object avilable under packet dimension to rows and right click on it restrict by selecting the name of the info provider when u right click it will show you the option of restrict once u click on it,it will takes to u a pop up where you can able to see the name of info providers and you specify according to it and finally in the display of results if you dont want to to display the info provider name then just right click on the 0infoprovider object under rows go to properties then choose hide option under display.
    Hope its clear a little..!

  • Report Not apperaing in User's Query Report Viewer Menu

    Hello There!
    Continuing with below thread
Report Category not Appearing in Report Definition
When i search for a report i created, i'm(as a normal user) not able to find any report after searching.(assigned to me or to my role.)
The view PSXPRPTSRCH_VW has two tables PSXPRPTDEFN and PSXPDATASRC .Both have oprid column which is blank and the above view's first where clause is asking for oprid.
I don't understand how then all the doc./papers on internet i read, to create Report using XML Publisher says/shows the report appears in user menu(query report viewer). May be they still using PS login to show the output?
Anybody have any idea where am going wrong?
The category, datasource,Definition, query tree all set properly. Do user need any special role/permission assigned?
BTW user can see the query report viewer menu.

    Thanks for the Reply.
from the doc. you gave, this is what i found.
Home > PeopleBooks > PeopleTools 8.52: BI Publisher for PeopleSoft > Running, Locating, and Viewing BI Publisher Reports
The Query Report Viewer allows selection and online viewing of those reports that have a data source type of PeopleSoft Query. Existing Query security applies so that each user has access to run only the reports to which he or she has qualified Query access to the data source.
The PS query and the data source is created by user PS then how can a normal user will have access to that?
    I'm bit confused here.

  • Changing the run-time menu programatically

    Hi All
I am developing an application which will be a bilingual. when i click french button on GUI, all display messages changes to french. When i click on English, all captions and messages come in Engilsh. I am using property node to change the captions of controls and graphs for different languages. and using a global variable to pass the language information between different windows(Sub VIs). Now the problem is, i have to change the Run-Time Menu also. Not getting how to do this. Can anyone help me about this. Is it possible to make this?
    Thanks
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
It looks like you are on the right track by using Property Nodes.  You can use the string input of the property node to select the appropriate message to display (language), along with a Boolean selector (ie: TRUE = English, FALSE = French (or vice-versa) ).
You could also use a Property Node for the language selection.

    Hi Experts
I want to place a query in main menu but it is not in a crystal report format? How should I be able to do that in SAP 8.8?
Please guide me further in this matter.

    Hi Bhavesh.....
If it is the case of only SQL Query then it is not possible to take it under standard module but you can definitely take it in User Menu.
But if it is the case of Crystal Report then you can anyway include it under standard module list.....

  • Changed query, hopw to surpress msg in workbook?

    hi,
changed a query(info objects few removed and few added), so after attaching the changes query to workbook...
after refreshing evrytime it is showing a msg box with title
    "bex application msgs for query"
and warings like "waring query changed, characterstic _xyz-" no longer exist" is coming.
is there any method to surpass this msg box?/
what to do not to get this?

    Hi,
If you are getting the Warnign messages after refreshing the Query , then go to that particular work book,Menu>Bex Analyzer>Supress Warning messages.
    Save the work book.
It will avoid the Warning messages that were displayed by the Query.

where can I change a global filter in a query?I am trying to see many years data for a query.but was able to see only for 2008.I I clicked on one button 'Global Filters' and there for year, its displaying 2008.I think its because of this settings its not displaying data for other years because in infoprovider we have data for years 2006,2007,2008.whats the purpose of global settings?how can I do to see data for all years....
    Thanks.
    Schand

    Hi Schand,
In the Query Designer .U might have hardcoded the Year 2008 only in the Filters  ...for the Year Object.I guess u may have to remove that..
then will be able to view for all the years.....
also just check your inout variable which has Year as Input...Dont out anythig there..such that it diplays for all the years or include whichever u want to view the data for...
